How a home tuition request from Sewri becomes a shortlist

A request for IB and IGCSE home tuition in Sewri usually arrives with three facts and a dozen missing ones. A parent writes that their daughter is in Year 10, that maths and chemistry are the problem, and that anything earlier than seven in the evening is impossible because of the school bus run. What is still unknown is which board the school actually enters students for, whether the difficulty sits inside one topic or in the whole habit of working alone, and how many weeks the family expects this to run. The first phone call exists to get those three answers on the table, because every later decision follows from them.

Once they are known, matching becomes a scheduling problem as much as an academic one. South Mumbai is dense and short-distance but slow, so a tutor who lives towards Wadala and already teaches two students near Parel can hold a Tuesday and Friday slot in Sewri for thirty weeks without drama. A tutor living off the Western Express Highway cannot, however good the subject knowledge, because the fourth cancelled session in a row ends the arrangement anyway. We shortlist for the slot you genuinely need first and the subject second, since a weekly commitment that collapses in week six has taught nobody anything and cost a term of momentum.

You then speak to every shortlisted tutor yourself before anyone is booked. Ten minutes on a call tells a parent more than any written profile. Listen for whether the tutor asks to see the last school report before the first session, whether they ask which syllabus code the school is running, and whether they are willing to say plainly that a particular subject is not theirs. A home tutor who asks for the name of the coordinator and the date of the next unit test is reading the job correctly. One who promises a specific grade in the opening conversation is telling you they have not looked at the work yet.

The diagnostic session comes next, and it is deliberately not a lesson. The tutor sits at your dining table with the last two class tests and one past paper question, watches where the pen stops moving, and writes you a short note on what the real gap is. Sometimes that note says a standing weekly arrangement is the wrong purchase and four focused sessions before the next unit test would do more. We would rather lose a booking than set up IB and IGCSE home tuition in Sewri that nobody in the family actually needed.

  • 1. Send the year group, board, subjects and two workable evening windows.
  • 2. We shortlist two or three tutors who already travel the Sewri–Wadala corridor.
  • 3. You speak to each tutor on the phone before anything is booked.
  • 4. A diagnostic session runs at your flat, with no term commitment yet.
  • 5. You confirm a standing weekly slot or ask for a fresh shortlist.
  • 6. Written notes reach you after each home tuition session from then on.

IB or IGCSE in Mumbai: which structure is your child actually inside?

Your child sits inside one of three structures, and the answer changes what tuition is for. Cambridge IGCSE runs roughly Years 9 to 11 and is examined externally at the end, with a Core or Extended tier entry decided subject by subject. The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) is criterion-assessed through school tasks. The IB Diploma Programme (DP) occupies Years 11 and 12 with Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL) choices. Ask the school which one, in writing, before you book a tutor.

This matters more in the Sewri and Parel pocket than it does in most of Mumbai, because the schools families here use run both pathways under one roof. A parent can have one child doing MYP coursework and an older one sitting Cambridge papers, and the two need different help entirely. MYP work is marked against published criteria by the child's own teacher, so the useful intervention is understanding what the criterion wording is asking for. IGCSE work is marked by an external examiner who has never met the student, so the useful intervention is paper technique against a published mark scheme.

There is a third possibility that catches families out at admission time. Some Mumbai schools enter students for Pearson Edexcel International GCSE rather than Cambridge International Education, and a few run both in different subjects. The syllabus names look similar and the papers are not. An IB and IGCSE home tutor in Sewri who has taught the wrong board's specification will be teaching correct mathematics against the wrong assessment objectives, which is a subtle way to waste a term. Confirm the awarding body and the syllabus code with the school examinations officer, then put both in your tuition request.

For the Years 9 to 11 window this page is written for, the practical sequence is straightforward. Year 9 is where the tier and subject decisions get made, often faster than parents expect. Year 10 is where the coursework and the first serious internal examinations land. Year 11 is where paper technique either exists or does not. Tuition started in Year 9 is a cheaper and calmer thing than tuition started in Year 11, because the work is building a habit rather than reversing one. Both are worth doing. They are not the same purchase.

  • Get the awarding body and syllabus code in writing from the school
  • MYP help targets criterion wording, not past papers
  • IGCSE help targets an external mark scheme the student never sees
  • Tier and subject choices are usually settled during Year 9
  • Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge papers differ even where syllabus names match

How do you choose subjects across both boards in Mumbai?

Choose on evidence from the last two years of marked work, not on which subject sounds impressive on a university application. At Cambridge IGCSE the live question is Core or Extended tier per subject. At IB Diploma level it is which three subjects go to Higher Level (HL) and which three stay at Standard Level (SL). Every subject in both systems also carries internal assessment that the student produces and the school marks or moderates, and that is where most of the quiet mark loss happens.

The tier decision is the one parents most often get wrong, in both directions. Entering a capable student at Core caps the grade available to them regardless of how well they perform. Entering a struggling student at Extended on principle produces a paper they cannot finish. The honest test is a full past paper under timed conditions in Year 10, marked against the published scheme, with the tutor and the subject teacher both looking at the script. Ask the school examinations officer what the current entry deadline for tier changes is, because it closes earlier in the year than families assume.

At Diploma level the Higher Level choice has a second-order effect families underestimate. Three Higher Level subjects each carry a deeper internal assessment and a heavier reading load, and they all land in the same calendar months as the Extended Essay (EE) and the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) essay. A student who has chosen three Higher Level sciences has not chosen three harder subjects, they have chosen a January that does not fit in a week. A good tutor will tell you that in Year 11, before the choice is locked, rather than in Year 12 when it cannot be changed.

A home tutor for all IB and IGCSE subjects Mumbai families might want does not exist, and anyone offering it should be treated carefully. Mathematics, physics, chemistry, economics, English and the second-language subjects each need someone who has taught that specification and marked that paper. What a platform can do is cover all IB and IGCSE subjects a tutor in Sewri might be asked for by matching a different specialist per subject, usually with one of them acting as the main point of contact. Do not reproduce weightings or timings from any blog. Read the current subject guide the school uses.

  • Decide tier from a timed past paper marked against the published scheme
  • Ask the examinations officer when tier entry changes actually close
  • Three Higher Level subjects stack their internal assessments in one term
  • One specialist per subject beats one tutor covering four
  • Internal assessment is where quiet mark loss usually happens

Sewri, Wadala, Mazgaon and Parel: the catchment a tutor actually covers

Sewri sits on the eastern edge of the island city, with Sewri station on the Harbour Line (CSMT–Dockyard–Sewri) and the Sewri–Wadala stretch running north behind it. For tuition purposes the working catchment is small and tight: Wadala to the north, Mazgaon to the south, Parel to the west. A tutor booked for IB and IGCSE home tuition in Sewri will almost always already be teaching somewhere else in that same set of four, which is the whole reason a Tuesday and Thursday pair of slots stays alive through a full term.

The travel arithmetic in South Mumbai is counter-intuitive and worth understanding before you argue about timings. Distances are short and speeds are low. A tutor crossing from Worli to Colaba covers eight kilometres and can still lose forty minutes to the Peddar Road and Haji Ali signals in the evening peak. That is why tutors here are usually matched within the island rather than brought down from the suburbs, and why a parent who insists on a tutor from a specific suburb is often buying cancellations rather than quality.

Sewri has one genuine advantage no other part of the island city has, and it is recent. Sewri is now the island-city end of the Atal Setu, which has quietly made Navi Mumbai tutors a real option for families here for the first time. A tutor living in Vashi or Nerul who would never have considered a weekday evening lesson in South Mumbai can now reach Sewri in a predictable window, and that matters most for scarce subjects. If your child needs a specialist in a subject with a thin local supply, the bridge has roughly doubled the pool you can draw from without destroying the schedule.

The practical rules that follow are simple. Ask a shortlisted tutor where they are travelling from and what else they teach that evening, because a tutor with a second booking in Parel at nine will not run over for you at eight. Expect a tutor coming across the Atal Setu to want a slightly later slot and to prefer two longer sessions a week over three short ones. And if your building has a strict visitor policy, say so at the shortlist stage. Wadala, Mazgaon and Parel addresses all carry their own gate quirks, and a tutor who has worked the corridor already knows them.

  • Working catchment: Sewri, Wadala, Mazgaon and Parel, matched within the island
  • Sewri station sits on the Harbour Line towards Dockyard and CSMT
  • The Eastern Freeway and the Monorail link Wadala towards Chembur quickly
  • Peddar Road and Haji Ali signals set the real evening travel time
  • The Atal Setu now puts Vashi and Nerul tutors genuinely within reach

The school calendar Sewri families in Mumbai plan around

Families in Sewri mostly send children west and south. JBCN International School, Parel is the closest international option and runs both IB and Cambridge pathways. Bombay International School draws students from across the lower island city. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform and is not affiliated with either school or with any other school named on this page. We name them because their term dates and assessment calendars are what actually dictate when a tutor is useful to you.

The pressure points repeat every year and they are predictable enough to plan around. The window from late August into September is when the first internal assessment tasks of the year are set and when a weak foundation from the previous year becomes visible in marked work. November and December bring the serious mock examinations for both boards. January and February are the worst stretch in the Diploma Programme, because internal assessment final deadlines, the Extended Essay and the Theory of Knowledge essay all land inside a few weeks. February and March belong to the IGCSE cohort as the real papers approach.

Reading your own school's calendar against that shape tells you when to start. A parent who begins looking for IB and IGCSE home tuition in Sewri in January for a Year 11 student sitting papers in May is not too late, but they are buying something different from what a September start buys: paper technique and triage rather than understanding. A parent who starts in August has thirty usable weeks and can afford to fix the underlying topic gaps properly. Both are legitimate. Only one of them is comfortable.

One more calendar fact that catches Sewri families specifically. Because the schools here serve a wide catchment across the island city, the school day plus the commute home can put a Year 10 student at their own front door well after five. That compresses the usable evening to a narrow band, and it is the single most common reason a shortlist of three tutors becomes a shortlist of one. Tell us the realistic time the child walks in, not the time school ends. It changes the match more than any other detail you can give us.

  • Late August to September: first internal tasks expose last year's gaps
  • November and December: mock examinations for both boards
  • January and February: Diploma internal assessment and essay deadlines collide
  • February and March: the IGCSE cohort moves to paper technique
  • Tell us when the child reaches home, not when school ends

Home tuition, online or hybrid for a Sewri student?

Home tuition is the default here and it earns that position for one reason: attention. A tutor sitting across the table sees the student stop writing, sees the calculator reached for on a question that should be mental, and sees the handwriting deteriorate in the last ten minutes. None of that survives a screen reliably. For Years 9 to 11, where the job is often building a working habit rather than transferring information, IB and IGCSE home tuition in Sewri does something online cannot: it puts the work in the room where the homework actually happens.

The honest costs are travel and rigidity. A home tutor's time includes the journey, which is why the rate for home sessions sits above the rate for the same tutor online, and why a request for three short sessions a week is usually declined in favour of two longer ones. Home slots are also fixed. Shifting a Thursday to a Wednesday at two days' notice generally means skipping a week, because the tutor has built their evening around your address. Families who travel often, or whose children have variable co-curricular commitments, find this grating.

An IB and IGCSE online tutor in Sewri solves exactly those two problems and introduces others. Online opens the whole city and beyond it, which is decisive when the subject is scarce. It survives monsoon evenings and a sudden school event. It also demands a student who will keep a camera on their page and a parent who accepts that the first few weeks will be less productive than the equivalent weeks at the table. Online works noticeably better for Diploma-level students than for Year 9 students, and better for revision than for first teaching.

Hybrid is what most Sewri arrangements settle into by the second term, and it is worth asking for deliberately rather than drifting into it. One session a week at your flat for new material and diagnosis, one online later in the week for problem sets and marking. It cuts travel without losing the in-person read on the student. It also solves the continuity problem: when your tutor is unwell or stuck on the wrong side of a flooded road, the session moves online for a week instead of vanishing. Ask for the hybrid shape from the start if your evenings are tight.

  • Home sessions catch what a screen hides: pauses, handwriting, calculator reflexes
  • Travel is inside the home rate, so expect fewer and longer sessions
  • Online widens the pool decisively when the subject is scarce locally
  • Online suits Diploma revision better than Year 9 first teaching
  • Hybrid keeps one table session and moves problem sets to screen

How are tutors checked before they reach your Sewri building?

Every tutor on the platform clears the same three checks before they are shortlisted for anyone: a government photo identity document matched to the name on the profile, original degree and teaching certificates seen rather than described, and a verified account of where they have actually taught which board. A fourth check matters more than all of them and is the one families forget to ask about: has this person taught this specification to this year group, or only a subject with a similar name? We do not accept the second as the first.

Subject verification is specific on purpose. A tutor claiming Cambridge IGCSE mathematics is asked which tier they have prepared students for and what they do differently for the non-calculator paper. A tutor claiming Diploma Programme sciences is asked how they supervise an internal investigation without writing it. The answers tell us more than any certificate, because a teacher who has actually run the cycle talks about mark schemes and moderation, while a teacher who has not talks about explaining concepts clearly. Both can be pleasant on the phone. Only one will help in March.

Then there is the part you should do yourself, and no platform substitutes for it. On the shortlist call, ask the tutor to name the last three topics they taught at your child's level and what students usually get wrong in each. Ask what their first session will consist of. Ask what they will send you afterwards. Ask them directly what they cannot help with. A good IB and IGCSE private tutor in Sewri answers that last one quickly and without defensiveness. Hesitation there is the most reliable warning sign available to a parent in a ten-minute call.

Building access is the unglamorous half of verification and the half that derails first sessions. Mumbai societies increasingly require a pre-registered visitor entry, a photo at the gate or a resident's confirmation on an app, and a tutor standing outside at 7pm with a security guard who has no record of them loses the session. Register your tutor as a standing weekly visitor in the first week, not the first day. Give the guard a name, a day and a time window. We also tell tutors to carry identity documents to every session, because a new guard will ask.

  • Photo identity matched to the profile name before any shortlist
  • Original degree and teaching certificates seen, not self-reported
  • Board and year group taught verified separately from subject knowledge
  • You ask: last three topics taught, and what they cannot help with
  • Register the tutor as a standing weekly visitor in week one

What does the weekly rate for home tuition in Mumbai include?

The weekly rate buys contact time at your address, the travel inside it, and the preparation and marking around it. What it does not usually include is unlimited messaging between sessions, writing a student's internal assessment commentary, attendance at a parent-teacher meeting, or a second subject taught by the same person. Ask which of those are in and which are extra before the first invoice, in writing. Most disputes about IB and IGCSE tuition fees in Sewri are not about the number. They are about what somebody assumed the number covered.

What the number itself depends on is reasonably predictable. Board and level come first, because Diploma Programme Higher Level work and the internal assessment supervision around it demand a narrower kind of experience than Year 9 work does. Subject scarcity comes second and moves the figure more than parents expect: a mathematics tutor in the island city is a commodity, a Diploma-level second-language or music specialist is not. Travel distance and the time of your slot come third. Session length and how many sessions a week come fourth, usually with the per-hour figure easing as the weekly commitment rises.

On hours, the honest answer for a single subject in Years 9 to 11 is that two sessions a week moves a grade and one session a week holds a position. One ninety-minute session weekly is enough to keep a student from falling further behind and to keep the homework honest. Reversing an established gap takes two, with one of them doing new teaching and the other doing practice under time pressure. Three or more a week in one subject is almost always a sign that something other than tuition is wrong, and a tutor who agrees to it without saying so is not being straight with you.

The term-long versus exam-term decision follows from that. A term-long arrangement starting in August is paying for understanding and habit, and it is the cheaper route per mark gained because nothing has to be undone. An exam-term arrangement starting in January is paying for triage: past papers, mark scheme literacy, and deciding which topics to abandon. Both are reasonable purchases. What does not work is a term-long price expectation on an exam-term start, because the January tutor is being asked to produce in ten weeks what thirty weeks was designed to do.

Continuity is the clause nobody reads until it bites. Ask at the shortlist stage what happens when the tutor travels, falls ill, or hits an impassable evening. The workable answers are a makeup session inside the same fortnight, a session moved online at short notice, or a named substitute from the same subject who gets handed the running notes. The unworkable answer is silence followed by a lost week. We hold the session notes centrally for exactly this reason, so that all IB and IGCSE subjects home classes in Sewri can be picked up by a second tutor without the student re-explaining their own history.

  • In the rate: contact time, travel, preparation and marking of set work
  • Usually extra: a second subject, meeting attendance, open-ended messaging
  • Rate moves on board, level, subject scarcity, distance and slot timing
  • Two sessions a week move a grade; one session a week holds position
  • Agree the makeup and substitute rule before the first session, in writing

What progress looks like at four weeks, one term and one exam cycle in Mumbai

At four weeks you should not be looking at marks, and a tutor who shows you a mark at four weeks is managing you rather than teaching. What you should see is a changed relationship with the work: homework attempted before the session rather than during it, questions asked that are specific instead of general, and a student who can say which topic they are weak in. Ask your tutor for one concrete example of something the student could not do in week one and can do now. A real answer names a topic.

At one term the evidence should be visible in school marked work, and it should be uneven. Topics taught during the term will have improved and older topics will not have, which is normal and is why the term-two plan differs from the term-one plan. This is also the point at which you should expect a frank conversation about tier or level, because by now the tutor has seen enough timed work to have a view. A tutor who has no view after a full term has not been setting timed work.

At one exam cycle the question is whether the student performed to the level of their practice. Sometimes they do better, more often slightly worse, because examination halls are their own skill. What a tutor can be held to is whether the practice was honest: full papers under time, marked against the published scheme, with the same mistakes tracked across attempts. IB Gram does not guarantee grades, we do not publish success rates, and no tutor on the platform is permitted to promise a specific grade to secure a booking.

The limits are worth stating plainly, because knowing them saves money. Home tuition cannot fix a subject chosen against the student's own interests and strengths. It cannot replace school attendance. It cannot compress two years of missing foundation into one exam term, although it can choose intelligently what to abandon. And it cannot help a student who has decided not to be helped, which is the one case where the right advice is to pause the arrangement rather than change the tutor. We would rather say that than keep a weekly slot running on the assumption it will come good.

  • Week four: homework done before the session, questions getting specific
  • Ask for one named topic the student could not do and now can
  • One term: uneven improvement in school work is the normal pattern
  • One term: expect a frank tier or level conversation backed by timed work
  • No success rates, no promised grades, and pausing is sometimes the advice

Starting IB and IGCSE home tuition in Sewri this term

Three documents make the first session useful instead of exploratory. The most recent school report, with the teacher comments rather than only the grades. The last two marked class tests or unit assessments, with the corrections visible. And the school's assessment calendar for the current term, which the class teacher will usually share on request. A tutor who reads those three before arriving starts the first session knowing what to test, which means your diagnostic hour produces a plan rather than a conversation about what might be wrong.

Set the room up once and it never has to be discussed again. A table the student can write at, not a bed or a sofa. A light that does not sit behind the screen. The school textbook, the student's own notebooks, a calculator of the model the school permits, and a printer or a nearby shop for past papers. Keep the siblings and the television out for the session length. None of that is fussy; a tutor losing fifteen minutes a week to hunting for a notebook has lost a session's worth of teaching by the end of term.

The first session itself should follow a shape you can recognise. Twenty minutes with the marked work and the report, going through errors and asking the student to explain their own thinking. Thirty minutes on a diagnostic set that deliberately spans topics from the previous year as well as the current one. Fifteen minutes of actual teaching on the first gap found, so the student leaves having learned something. Then a short conversation with you, and a written note within a day or two naming the gaps and proposing a weekly shape.

After that, the arrangement should become quiet. A standing slot, a note after each session, a monthly check against the school calendar, and a frank review at the end of the first month in which either party can say this is not working. Tell us the realistic evening window, the subjects, the board and the year group, and we will come back with two or three tutors who already work the Sewri–Wadala corridor. Speaking to them costs nothing and tells you more about IB and IGCSE tutors near me in Sewri than any amount of reading will.

  • Have the last report, two marked tests and the term assessment calendar ready
  • A writing table, correct calculator model and the school textbook on hand
  • First session: marked work, diagnostic set, then teaching on one gap
  • Written note within a day or two naming gaps and proposing a weekly shape
  • A frank one-month review where either side can end the arrangement
FAQs

Sewri tutoring — questions parents ask

How many hours a week does IB and IGCSE home tuition in Sewri usually run?+

One subject usually settles at one ninety-minute session or two shorter ones a week. One session a week holds a position and keeps homework honest. Two sessions a week is what actually moves a grade, because one can teach new material while the other does timed practice and marking. Two subjects running together is normally the practical ceiling for a Year 10 student who also has school commitments. If a tutor proposes three or more sessions a week in a single subject without explaining why, ask what they think the underlying problem is, because tuition volume is rarely the answer to it.

What do IB and IGCSE tuition fees in Sewri depend on?+

Five things, and no honest tutor can quote you a figure before knowing them. Board and level come first, since Diploma Programme Higher Level work and internal assessment supervision need narrower experience than Year 9 work. Subject scarcity comes second and moves the number most. Travel distance and the timing of your slot come third, because an eight o'clock weekday slot in the island city costs a tutor an evening. Session length is fourth, and total weekly commitment is fifth, usually easing the hourly figure. Ask what the rate excludes as well as what it includes, in writing, before the first month.

Can a tutor travel to Sewri for a 7.30pm evening slot on a weekday?+

Yes, and it is the most commonly booked slot, but only with a tutor already working the island city. South Mumbai is short-distance and slow, so a tutor coming from Worli or Colaba can lose forty minutes to the Peddar Road and Haji Ali signals in the evening peak. That is why tutors here are matched within the island rather than brought down from the suburbs. A tutor based towards Wadala, Mazgaon or Parel reaches Sewri reliably at that hour. Ask any shortlisted tutor where they are travelling from and what else they teach that evening, because a later booking elsewhere limits your session.

Do we need a parent at home during a home tuition session?+

Someone adult should be at home, though they need not be in the room. For students under about fourteen we ask that an adult be present in the flat, both for the obvious reason and because the first few sessions often need a parent to confirm what the school has actually asked for. For older students a closed door and a quiet house works better than supervision. What does help in every case is a two-minute conversation at the end of the session rather than a long one, so the tutor can tell you what happened while it is fresh.

Is it better to start term-long tuition or wait for the exam term?+

Start term-long if the choice is open, because you are buying different things. A term-long arrangement from August has thirty usable weeks, fixes foundations properly, and costs less per mark gained because nothing has to be undone. An exam-term start in January buys triage: past papers, mark scheme literacy, and intelligent decisions about which topics to abandon. Both are legitimate purchases. What fails is expecting term-long outcomes from an exam-term start. If you are already in January with a Year 11 student, book anyway, but ask the tutor to tell you explicitly what they plan to skip.

How do we know progress is happening between sessions?+

Through written notes after every session, which is the single most useful habit to insist on. A usable note names what was taught, what the student got wrong, what was set for next week, and one sentence on how the session went. Over a month those notes become a record you can read against the school report, and the pattern in them tells you more than any single mark. If notes stop arriving, the arrangement is drifting. Ask for a monthly summary as well, timed to land before the school's own assessment points so you can act on it rather than file it.

What happens if our tutor is travelling or unwell for two weeks?+

The arrangement should have an answer to this agreed before it starts. The three that work are a makeup session inside the same fortnight, the session moving online at short notice, or a named substitute in the same subject who is handed the running notes. We hold session notes centrally so a second tutor can take over without the student re-explaining their own history. The answer that does not work is a quietly lost week, which in February costs more than it sounds. Ask the question at the shortlist call, and treat a vague reply as information about how the rest of the term will go.

Does online tuition work as well for a Year 10 IGCSE student in Mumbai?+

Less well than for a Diploma student, and the gap is about habit rather than technology. An IB and IGCSE online tutor in Sewri cannot see the pause before a question, the calculator reached for on mental arithmetic, or the handwriting falling apart in the last ten minutes, and those are exactly the signals that matter in Years 9 to 11. Online does win decisively when the subject is scarce locally, and it survives monsoon evenings and school events. The usual compromise in Mumbai is hybrid: one session at the table for new material, one online for problem sets and marking.

The tutor is not working out after three weeks. What should we do?+

Say so immediately, and be specific about what is wrong. A tutor who is pleasant but slow, or strong but mismatched in level, is a different problem from one who arrives unprepared. Tell us which, because it determines whether the replacement is a different person or a different kind of person. We re-shortlist, you speak to the new tutor, and the session notes transfer so the next tutor does not start from zero. Three weeks is the right time to raise it. Three months is not, and the most common reason families wait is a reluctance to seem difficult. Be difficult early.

Can one tutor cover both an IB and an IGCSE child in the same building?+

For one subject at adjacent levels, often yes, and it is efficient on travel. A mathematics specialist can reasonably teach a Year 10 Cambridge student and a Diploma Standard Level student back to back in the same flat or the same building. Across different subjects it is usually a mistake. What makes it work is scheduling the two sessions consecutively so the tutor makes one journey, and keeping separate notes so the two children's plans do not blur. Ask the tutor directly whether they have taught both specifications, not just both subjects, because the mark schemes differ more than the content does.

Are Navi Mumbai tutors realistic for a family in Sewri now the Atal Setu is open?+

Yes, and this is genuinely new. Sewri is now the island-city end of the Atal Setu, which has quietly made Navi Mumbai tutors a real option for families here for the first time. A tutor in Vashi or Nerul who would never have taken a weekday evening lesson in South Mumbai can now reach Sewri in a predictable window. It matters most for scarce subjects, where the island-city pool is thin. Expect such a tutor to want a slightly later slot and to prefer two longer sessions a week over three short ones, because the crossing is only worth making for a substantial block.

What can a home tutor honestly not fix?+

Four things, and knowing them saves money. A subject chosen against the student's own strengths and interests stays wrong no matter who teaches it. Missing school attendance cannot be replaced by two evenings a week. Two years of absent foundation cannot be compressed into one exam term, though a tutor can choose intelligently what to abandon. And a student who has decided not to be helped will not be, which is the one situation where pausing beats changing tutors. Be wary of anyone who answers this question by saying there is nothing they cannot fix. IB Gram does not guarantee grades and neither should they.

Find your Sewri tutor

Send us the year group, the board, the subjects and two evening windows that genuinely work once the school commute is accounted for. We come back with two or three tutors who already travel the Sewri–Wadala corridor, and you speak to each of them before anything is booked. A diagnostic session at your flat follows, then a written note naming the real gaps and a proposed weekly shape you can accept or decline.
