How IB Gram builds a shortlist for an IB home tutor in Versova

Most parents start with a sentence, not a specification. "My daughter is in MYP 4 and her Science grades have dropped," or "my son starts Diploma Programme (DP) Maths in June and he is already behind." That sentence is enough to start, because the work of turning it into a shortlist is ours. What we need from you is the programme year, the subjects, the school, and the two or three evening windows that genuinely exist in your week once school transport, swimming and dinner are accounted for.

The sequence we follow is deliberately short. 1. You send the brief: year group, subjects, school, the two evening slots that work, and whether you want IB home tuition in Versova or online. 2. We filter our verified tutor pool for people who have actually taught that programme and that subject at that level, not people who have taught something adjacent. 3. We check travel: a tutor who cannot reliably reach the Versova–Yari Road stretch by 6:30pm on a Tuesday is not a match, however strong the subject knowledge. 4. We send you two or three profiles with the subject history, the levels taught and the availability written out. 5. You take a free discovery call with whichever profile you like, and the tutor talks to your child, not only to you. 6. Lessons begin after you say yes.

The filter that removes most candidates is not qualification, it is level match. A graduate who tutors Class 10 CBSE Mathematics competently will still struggle with a Higher Level (HL) Analysis and Approaches student who needs to see a complex-number proof set out formally. An IB tutor Mumbai parents are happy with for PYP numeracy is often the wrong person for an MYP 5 criterion-based Science investigation. We treat programme and level as hard constraints and subject enthusiasm as a tiebreaker.

You will also notice that we do not send a long list. A shortlist of eight profiles looks generous and is actually a way of making the decision your problem. Two or three profiles that each genuinely fit means we have done the filtering, and it means the discovery calls are worth your evening. If none of the two or three works, we say so and go back to the pool rather than defending a bad match.

  • Brief, filter, travel check, two or three profiles, discovery call, start
  • Programme year and level treated as hard constraints, never approximated
  • Travel feasibility checked before a profile is ever sent to you
  • Discovery call is free and the tutor speaks with your child directly
  • A rejected shortlist sends us back to the pool, not into a sales pitch

Which IB programme is your child actually in?

Three distinct programmes sit under the International Baccalaureate, and they ask for different tutors. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) runs through the early and middle primary years and is organised around transdisciplinary units rather than subjects, so a PYP tutor is largely working on reading fluency, number sense and the habit of explaining thinking out loud. The Middle Years Programme (MYP) covers the middle school years across eight subject groups and marks against published criteria. The Diploma Programme (DP) is the two-year pre-university course with Higher Level and Standard Level (SL) choices, Internal Assessment (IA) coursework in most subjects, the Extended Essay (EE) and Theory of Knowledge (TOK).

Getting this wrong wastes a term. A parent whose child is in MYP 4 sometimes asks for a DP tutor because the school prospectus talks about the Diploma, and the tutor then arrives with past paper drills for an assessment the child will not meet for two years. The reverse is more damaging: a DP1 student handed MYP-style topic revision will revise content she already knows while the IA she needs to scope sits untouched. When you contact us, naming the year as the school names it, MYP 3, DP2, PYP 4, removes the ambiguity completely.

The transition points are where home tuition earns its keep. MYP into DP is the hardest, because criterion marking gives way to papers, IAs and a fixed grade scale, and because subject choices made in a hurry at the end of MYP 5 set the next two years. A tutor who has taught both sides of that line can tell you whether your child's Science work actually points towards HL Chemistry or whether SL with a stronger Maths pairing is the honest call. Those conversations happen in an IB home tutor in Versova sitting at your dining table with the child's own reports, not in a counselling session with a stranger.

We also field requests from families whose child moved to an IB school from a state or national board mid-year. That student is not weak; she is unfamiliar with being marked on process. Her first month with a tutor is spent learning what a command term wants, why "describe" and "evaluate" earn different marks, and how to write a method so someone else could repeat it. Structure, not content, is the gap. Check the current subject guide or your school's IB coordinator for how your child's cohort is assessed, because the IB revises guides on its own cycle and no tutor should be quoting structure from memory.

  • PYP: reading fluency, number sense, explaining reasoning out loud
  • MYP: eight subject groups marked against published criteria A to D
  • DP: HL and SL choices, IA coursework, the Extended Essay and TOK
  • MYP 5 into DP1 is the transition that most often needs a tutor
  • Board-switch students need assessment literacy before extra content

Subject choice, HL and SL, and the coursework nobody warns you about

Subject choice across the IB is where most of the avoidable damage happens, and it happens quietly. A student picks HL Physics because her friends did, or SL Economics because it sounded lighter than History, and the consequence shows up eighteen months later in a mark she cannot recover. A tutor who knows the programme can read a Year 10 report and tell you which subjects the child is actually strong in as opposed to comfortable in, which are two different things. Comfortable means the current teacher explains well. Strong means the child can do it when nobody is explaining.

The internal assessment load is the part families underestimate. Nearly every DP subject carries coursework that is drafted, fed back on once, and submitted: a Sciences investigation, a Mathematics exploration, written tasks in Languages, an internal assessment in the individuals and societies group. These are not homework. They are a standing commitment that runs alongside normal teaching for months, and they are marked on process, so a student who does good work in the wrong order loses marks for reasons that look arbitrary to a parent. In MYP the same principle applies in a different shape: criterion-based tasks that reward planning, data handling and reflection as explicitly as they reward the right answer.

What a tutor does with this is unglamorous. They set a calendar. The research question gets fixed in one week; the method gets drafted the next; data collection has a date; the first full draft exists well before the school deadline so that the single round of teacher feedback is spent on substance rather than on formatting. Parents who have watched a sibling go through DP will recognise the pattern, and parents on their first child almost never see it coming. A parent searching for an all IB and IGCSE subjects tutor in Versova is usually, underneath, asking for exactly this: someone to hold the calendar.

Language subjects deserve a separate note because Mumbai families often have genuinely trilingual children whose school language choice was made administratively. A child who speaks Hindi at home, studies in English and took French because the timetable allowed it may be carrying a language at a level that does not match her real fluency. That is fixable in MYP and expensive to fix in DP2. A tutor who teaches that language can tell you within two sessions whether the level is right, and we would rather you heard that early.

  • Strong and comfortable are different; reports often only show comfortable
  • Internal assessment coursework runs for months alongside normal teaching
  • Process marks mean good work in the wrong order still loses credit
  • A tutor's first job is a draft calendar ahead of the school deadline
  • Language level mismatches are cheap to fix in MYP, costly in DP2
  • Confirm current structure with the school's IB coordinator, not a tutor's memory

Versova, Andheri West, Lokhandwala and Seven Bungalows

Versova sits at the western edge of the Western Suburbs, with the Versova–Yari Road corridor running through it and Versova station, the terminus of Metro Line 1, at its eastern end. Practically, that means the pool of tutors who can reach you is wider than the map suggests and narrower than a directory will claim. We match across Versova, Andheri West, Lokhandwala and Seven Bungalows as one working area, because a tutor already inside that ring can take a 7pm slot without gambling on Link Road.

Lokhandwala and Andheri West are the two areas that produce most of the tutors we place here, and the reason is mundane: they are a short auto ride away, and a tutor who lives there can hold three evening lessons in one trip. Seven Bungalows is closer still, and for families on that side the practical constraint is parking rather than distance. Searches like IB tutors near me Versova return listings from Malad and Goregaon; those tutors are perfectly capable and will still cancel in July, because an hour each way in monsoon traffic is not a commitment anyone keeps for a full term. An IB home tutor in Versova who lives within the Andheri West ring is a boring choice that holds.

The genuinely unusual thing about this part of Mumbai is the metro. Versova is the western terminus of Metro Line 1, so a tutor living in Ghatkopar, Chandivali or near Powai boards once and gets off at the end of the line with no road traffic at all. That single fact widens the pool in a direction nobody expects. A DP Chemistry specialist in Ghatkopar is unreachable from most of the Western Suburbs on a weekday evening and is thirty-odd minutes from your building here, door to door, predictably, in any weather. When a subject is scarce, and HL Chemistry, HL Physics and the harder Maths options usually are, that metro line is the reason we can fill it.

The wider travel logic for home tuition across this part of Mumbai runs north to south. The Western Suburbs follow the Western Express Highway and the Western Line, so a tutor coming from Bandra to Andheri is quick off-peak and painful at 6pm, which is precisely when lessons start. Matching along the line, Khar to Santacruz, Malad to Kandivali, works far better than matching across it. We apply the same rule here and then add the Metro Line 1 exception, which is the one case where crossing the city is genuinely easy.

  • Versova, Andheri West, Lokhandwala and Seven Bungalows matched as one area
  • Most tutors placed here live inside the Lokhandwala and Andheri West ring
  • Metro Line 1 brings Ghatkopar and Powai tutors here without road traffic
  • Seven Bungalows families plan around parking, not distance
  • Along-the-line matching beats across-the-line matching in the Western Suburbs

The Mumbai school calendar families in Versova plan around

Children in this pocket of Mumbai go to a small number of international schools, and two of them set the rhythm for most families we speak to here: JBCN International School, Oshiwara, which is a short drive up Link Road, and Ecole Mondiale World School in Juhu, which runs the full IB continuum from PYP through MYP to DP. IB Gram is an independent platform and is not affiliated with either school, or with any other school named on this page. We name them because their term dates and assessment calendars are the actual constraint on when tutoring can usefully happen.

The pressure points are predictable once you have seen a few cycles. The weeks after the mid-year reports go home are when most parents in Versova start searching, because that is when a slide becomes a number. The run-up to the end of the first term carries MYP criterion tasks in several subjects at once. For DP1 students the quiet killer is the stretch where the Internal Assessment scoping, the Extended Essay supervisor meeting and ordinary unit tests land in the same fortnight, and because none of those is an exam, none of them feels urgent until all three are late. DP2 families know the shape of the May session, and the real crunch is the months before it, when IAs are finalised while mock results arrive.

A sensible tutoring year is therefore not evenly loaded. Starting in the weeks after a report, with eight or ten weeks of steady work before the next assessment block, is worth far more than starting six weeks before exams and hoping for a miracle. We say this to parents who want to begin in March for a May session, and we say it even though the honest version loses us work: at that point a tutor can help with paper technique and triage, and cannot rebuild two years of Physics.

School transport shapes the slots. A child bussed back from Juhu or Oshiwara is home later than a child who walks in from a school nearby, and the first half hour after she gets back is not teaching time, it is a snack and a decompression. Families who book a 6pm lesson for a child who reaches home at 5:50 usually move it to 7pm within a fortnight. We would rather set the realistic time at the start, which is one reason the home classes in Mumbai we arrange here tend to run 7pm to 8:30pm on weekdays, with the heavier double sessions on Saturday mornings.

  • JBCN International School, Oshiwara and Ecole Mondiale World School shape local term rhythms
  • Most enquiries arrive in the weeks after mid-year reports go home
  • DP1's hardest stretch is IA scoping, EE supervision and unit tests together
  • Eight to ten weeks of steady work beats a six-week pre-exam sprint
  • School bus arrival time, not the clock, decides the realistic lesson slot
  • IB Gram is independent and not affiliated with any school named here

Home tuition, online or hybrid for an IB student in Versova?

Home tuition is the default and it should be, for one unexciting reason: an IB student works on paper, and a tutor who can see the paper upside down from across the table catches the mistake three steps before the answer. IB home classes in Versova let a tutor watch the working, interrupt at the right moment, and ask the child to redo one line rather than the whole question. For MYP students and for anyone whose problem is method rather than content, that proximity is most of the value. It also makes the parent conversation possible: two minutes at the door is worth more than a monthly report.

Online is not a lesser option, it is a different one, and for some requests it is clearly better. An IB online tutor in Versova makes sense when the subject is scarce, when your child is in DP2 and needs a specific HL specialist rather than the nearest competent generalist, and when the real constraint is your family's schedule rather than geography. Screen-share annotation on a past paper works well. Timed writing under observation works well. What works less well is early MYP, where a twelve-year-old needs someone physically present to stop the drift to a second browser tab, and practical Science discussion where the tutor wants to point at an apparatus diagram and a graph at the same time.

Hybrid is what most of our longer-running arrangements settle into, and it is usually not planned. A family starts with two home lessons a week, the tutor shifts one to online in the monsoon because a 7pm journey on Link Road has become a lottery, and the arrangement sticks because it turns out the Thursday session was always revision anyway. Keeping one in-person lesson a week preserves the paper-watching and the doorstep conversation; moving the second online buys reliability. We suggest the split rather than imposing it, and we revisit it when exam season changes what the lessons are for.

The one argument we will push back on is the parent who wants fully online for a child who is already disengaged. Online tutoring asks the student to supply the discipline that a physical presence otherwise supplies. If your child's issue is that she has stopped starting the work, the mode that fixes that is someone at the table. We also do not claim home tuition is magic. IB Gram does not guarantee grades, in any mode, and a tutor who tells you otherwise is selling something.

  • Home lessons let a tutor read the working, not just the final answer
  • Online wins when the subject is scarce or the HL specialist is far away
  • Early MYP students generally need a person in the room
  • Hybrid keeps one in-person lesson weekly and moves the second online
  • Monsoon reliability is the usual reason an arrangement shifts to hybrid
  • Disengagement is not an online-tutoring problem to solve

How are IB home tutors in Mumbai checked before you meet them?

Every tutor on the platform has had their identity document verified, their highest qualification evidenced, and their teaching history in the specific programme and subject confirmed through references or documentation before any profile is shown to a parent. We record which programme they have taught, at which levels, and for how long, because "IB experience" as a phrase covers both a DP examiner and someone who once helped a cousin with MYP Maths. That distinction is the whole point of verification, and it is the part a listing site skips. Before we set up IB home tuition in Versova for a family, that record is what we are matching against.

What we cannot verify is chemistry, and we do not pretend to. Whether your fifteen-year-old will actually talk to this particular adult about the thing she does not understand is not in any document. That is what the free discovery call is for, and it is why we ask that your child sits in on it rather than being presented with a decision. A child who has chosen the tutor behaves differently in week three than a child who was assigned one.

You should also run your own checks, and three of them are quick. Ask the tutor which board and programme the last three students they taught were in, and listen for specificity: "MYP 4 at an IB school in the Western Suburbs, DP1 SL, DP2 HL" is an answer, "all levels" is not. Ask what they will do in the first session, and be sceptical of anyone who says they will start teaching immediately; a diagnostic session that reads the child's own last two assessments is the better answer. Ask what they will show you after four weeks. A tutor who has thought about that question has a plan; one who has not will improvise for a term.

On claims, be wary of any tutor who offers a guaranteed grade, publishes a success percentage, or describes themselves as the best IB tutor in Versova. None of that is verifiable, and the people who say it are competing on confidence rather than on teaching. IB Gram makes no promises about outcomes either: we do not guarantee grades, we do not publish student counts, and we are an independent matching platform with no affiliation to any school in Mumbai, including the ones families here attend.

  • Identity, qualification and programme-specific teaching history checked pre-shortlist
  • Profiles record programme and level taught, not a generic "IB experience" label
  • Ask which board and year the tutor's last three students were in
  • A first session that diagnoses beats one that starts teaching immediately
  • Ask what the tutor will show you at the four-week review
  • Be wary of a tutor who offers a guaranteed grade or a success rate

What do IB tuition fees in Versova depend on?

Rates for an IB private tutor Versova families hire are set by the tutor, not by us, and they vary more than parents expect. Five things move the number, and knowing them lets you read a quote instead of guessing at it. Programme and level come first: a PYP numeracy tutor and a DP2 HL Physics specialist are doing different jobs with different scarcity, and the second commands more because there are fewer people in Mumbai who can do it well. Subject scarcity is second, and it is sharper than level: HL Chemistry, the harder Mathematics route, Economics with strong IA experience and less common Language B options all sit in thin supply.

Travel is the third factor and the one parents can actually influence. A tutor who lives in Lokhandwala and reaches you in fifteen minutes has a different cost structure from one travelling in from Borivali, and over a term that difference shows up either in the rate or in cancellations. This is where the Metro Line 1 point matters commercially as well as logistically: a tutor from Ghatkopar or Powai riding the line to its western terminus is not absorbing an hour of road travel, so the distance does not price itself in the way the map implies. Session length and frequency are the fourth: two ninety-minute sessions a week is not simply twice one, because the tutor's planning load and travel per teaching hour both change.

The fifth is what you are actually buying. An IA-focused arrangement where the tutor reads drafts between sessions, or EE supervision support, carries work outside the lesson hour and is priced accordingly. Ordinary weekly subject support does not. Ask the question directly: is draft reading inside the rate or outside it? Ambiguity there is the most common cause of a bad conversation in month two. We will not publish a price list, because any figure we printed would be wrong for somebody's subject, somebody's level and somebody's postcode, and a wrong number is worse than none.

Two practical notes. First, do not optimise for the lowest rate on a scarce subject; the market for HL specialists in Mumbai is thin enough that a conspicuously cheap quote usually means the level is not real. Second, ask about the cancellation and reschedule policy before you start, not after your first missed Tuesday. Families who search IB tuition fees in Versova are usually trying to work out whether this is affordable at all, and the honest answer is that it depends almost entirely on which subject at which level, so get the shortlist first and the numbers second.

  • Programme and level set the base: PYP numeracy and DP2 HL differ sharply
  • Scarce subjects such as HL Chemistry and the harder Maths route price higher
  • Travel time is priced in, and Metro Line 1 genuinely reduces it here
  • Ask whether between-session draft reading is inside or outside the rate
  • Agree the cancellation and reschedule policy before the first lesson
  • A cheap quote on a scarce HL subject usually means the level is not real

What progress looks like at four weeks, one term and one exam cycle in Mumbai

At four weeks you should not be looking at marks. Marks move slower than that, and a tutor who shows you an improved score in the first month is usually showing you an easier test. What should have changed is the shape of the work. The child starts questions without being told to. The working is laid out so you can follow it. She can say what the question is asking before she tries to answer it. For an MYP student, the criterion language has started appearing in her own notes. For a DP student, there is a dated plan for the Internal Assessment with the research question fixed. That is a real four-week deliverable and you should ask for it.

At one term, marks are a fair question. By then the tutor has seen two or three school assessments and should be able to say which topics are secure, which are shaky and what the recurring error is, in specific language: not "careless mistakes" but "she sets up the equation correctly and loses the sign when she rearranges". A term is also long enough to know whether the arrangement is working as a relationship. If your child is still monosyllabic in session ten, the subject knowledge is not the problem and we should change the tutor.

Over one exam cycle, expect the gains to be uneven, because that is how learning actually behaves. A student may move substantially in the subject where the gap was method and barely at all in the one where she dislikes the teacher at school. Some students plateau for six weeks and then jump. We tell parents this in advance because the alternative is a panicked conversation in week nine where everyone involved pretends they expected linear improvement. IB Gram does not guarantee grades and cannot: too much of the outcome sits with the student, the school and the exam session itself.

The honest limits are worth stating plainly. Home tutoring in the Western Suburbs of Mumbai does not fix a subject chosen at the wrong level, it does not substitute for attendance, and it will not rescue a DP2 Internal Assessment that is three weeks from submission and not started. There is also a point at which more tutoring makes things worse: a child doing four subjects with four tutors has no evenings and stops consolidating anything. When a parent asks for a fifth, we usually argue for cutting to two and doing them properly.

  • Four weeks: better-shaped working, a dated IA plan, fewer blank starts
  • One term: a named recurring error, not "careless mistakes"
  • One exam cycle: uneven gains, plateaus, then jumps, not a straight line
  • Still monosyllabic in session ten means change the tutor, not the method
  • Four subjects with four tutors leaves no evening to consolidate anything
  • We do not guarantee grades, and no honest tutor promises a specific one

Starting IB home tuition in Versova, Mumbai

Three things make the first conversation useful, and all of them are already in your house. Your child's last two school assessments, with the teacher comments, not just the grades. Her current timetable, so we can see which subjects she has on which days and when the double periods fall. And an honest view of the two evening windows that actually exist, after transport and before the point at which she stops absorbing anything. Parents who send those three things get a sharper shortlist, because we are matching to a real week rather than an aspirational one.

The first session itself is a diagnostic, and it should feel slightly underwhelming. A good tutor spends it reading the child's own work rather than teaching from a syllabus: which questions did she attempt and abandon, where does the working stop, what does she do when she is stuck. By the end of it the tutor should be able to tell you one specific thing that is going wrong and what the first three weeks will target. If the first session was all content delivery and no diagnosis, say so, and we will have that conversation with the tutor.

What happens if it is not working is the question parents are too polite to ask first. Tell us. We will ask what specifically is off, because "she doesn't like him" and "he is behind the syllabus" need different fixes, and sometimes a single conversation with the tutor about pace resolves it. If it does not, we replace the tutor from the same verified pool, and you do not owe us an explanation beyond the one you have already given. There is no lock-in and no package you have to exhaust first, which is deliberate: an arrangement that only survives because leaving is expensive is not an arrangement we want to run.

We cover home tuition across this part of Mumbai from the same pool: Versova, Andheri West, Lokhandwala and Seven Bungalows, with the Metro Line 1 corridor widening the specialist options for scarce subjects. A home tutor for all IB and IGCSE subjects Mumbai parents enquire about is not one person, obviously, it is a pool, and the whole job is picking the right two or three out of it for your child's programme and level. One last repetition of the thing that matters: IB Gram is an independent platform, not affiliated with any school named here, and we do not guarantee grades.

  • Bring the last two school assessments with teacher comments, not just grades
  • Send the timetable so we can see where the double periods fall
  • Name the two evening windows that genuinely exist in your week
  • First session diagnoses, ends with one specific problem named
  • Tutor not working out: tell us and we replace from the same pool
  • No lock-in, no package to exhaust, review every two to four weeks
FAQs

Versova tutoring — questions parents ask

Will a tutor actually travel to Versova for a weekday evening lesson?+

Yes, and the ones who hold the slot for a full term are the ones who already live inside the Andheri West, Lokhandwala and Seven Bungalows ring. That is why we filter on travel before we send you a profile. A tutor coming in from Malad or Borivali at 6:30pm is depending on Link Road behaving, and in July it does not. The useful exception is Metro Line 1: because Versova is its western terminus, a tutor from Ghatkopar, Chandivali or near Powai rides one line end to end with no road traffic, which makes scarce-subject specialists genuinely reachable here.

What does an IB home tutor in Versova do in the very first session?+

Diagnose, not teach. An IB home tutor in Versova should spend the first session reading your child's own recent work: which questions she attempted and abandoned, where the written working stops, what she does when she gets stuck. By the end the tutor should be able to name one specific recurring problem and outline what the first three weeks will target. A session that opens with the tutor delivering a topic from the start of the syllabus is a wasted hour, because nobody has established yet whether that topic is the gap.

My child is in MYP 4, not DP. Does that change who you send?+

Completely. MYP work is marked against published criteria, so the tutor's job is partly teaching the subject and partly teaching your child to show planning, data handling and reflection in a form that earns credit. A DP specialist drilling past papers is solving a problem your child does not have yet. We treat the programme year as a hard constraint and only shortlist tutors who have taught MYP at that stage. Tell us the year as the school writes it, MYP 3 or MYP 4, and the shortlist gets much sharper.

Does a parent need to be at home during the lesson?+

Not for the whole session, but someone should be in the flat, particularly for younger students. Practically, a parent at home for the first two or three lessons helps, because that is when the working rhythm is set and when you get the two-minute doorstep conversation that tells you more than any written report. After that, many families settle into the tutor arriving, working at the dining table, and a short update at the door. For older DP students, a closed-door study is often better for concentration.

Is online IB tutoring worth it if we live in Versova anyway?+

It is worth it for a specific reason: subject scarcity. If your child needs an HL Chemistry or harder-Maths specialist, the pool of people in Mumbai who genuinely teach that level is thin, and insisting on someone who can drive to Yari Road may mean settling for a competent generalist. An IB online tutor in Versova removes the geography constraint entirely. For early MYP, or for a student who has stopped starting her work, we would still argue for someone physically at the table.

How much does IB home tuition cost here?+

It depends on the programme and level, how scarce the subject is, how far the tutor travels, how long and how frequent the sessions are, and whether reading drafts between sessions is included. We do not publish a price list, because any figure would be wrong for somebody's subject and postcode. HL Chemistry in DP2 and PYP numeracy sit at genuinely different points. Ask each shortlisted tutor directly whether between-session draft reading is inside the rate, and agree the cancellation policy before the first lesson.

What if there is no progress after a month?+

At four weeks, marks are the wrong measure, so first check whether the right things changed: does she start questions unprompted, is the working legible and ordered, can she restate what a question is asking, is there a dated plan for her Internal Assessment. If none of that has moved, tell us. We will ask what specifically is off, talk to the tutor about pace, and if that does not resolve it we replace the tutor from the same verified pool. No lock-in, no package to finish first.

Can you help with subject choice before DP, or only with teaching?+

Both, and the choice conversation is often the higher-value one. A tutor who has taught MYP and DP can read a Year 10 report and tell you where your child is genuinely strong rather than merely comfortable, which is the distinction that decides whether HL is realistic. They can flag a language carried at the wrong level, which is cheap to fix in MYP and expensive in DP2. Final structure questions belong with your school's IB coordinator, because the IB revises its subject guides on its own cycle.

Which schools do the students you tutor in Versova attend?+

Mostly international schools within reach of this corner of the Western Suburbs, including JBCN International School, Oshiwara and Ecole Mondiale World School in Juhu, which runs the full IB continuum. We name them only as local context: IB Gram is an independent platform and is not affiliated with any school. What matters practically is the calendar, because term dates, report weeks and criterion task clusters decide when tutoring helps most and when it is mostly triage.

My society gate takes ages with visitors. Does that cause problems?+

It causes problems once, then stops. The fix is to register the tutor as a standing weekly visitor with the building's security rather than treating each lesson as a fresh entry, which most Mumbai buildings allow for a regular arrangement. Tell us the gate protocol when you brief us so the tutor plans for it, and ask your shortlisted tutor to arrive ten minutes early for the first lesson. Families in Seven Bungalows more often raise parking than entry, which is worth mentioning at the discovery call.

Can we start six weeks before the exam session?+

You can, and you should know what it buys. Six weeks of good work improves paper technique, question triage, timing and the handling of command terms, and that is real. It does not rebuild two years of Physics, and it cannot rescue an Internal Assessment that is nearly due and barely started. We say this even though the honest version loses us work. The better pattern is to start in the weeks after a mid-year report, with eight to ten weeks of steady work before the next assessment block.

How do you decide between the two or three profiles you send?+

Take the free discovery call with each, and put your child on it. Listen for specificity about the last three students they taught, including board and year. Ask what the first session will cover and prefer a diagnostic answer to an eager teaching one. Ask what they will show you at four weeks. Then let your child's reaction carry real weight, because a student who chose her tutor works differently in week three from one who was assigned one. Be wary of anyone promising a specific grade.

Find your Versova tutor

Send us the year group as the school writes it, the subjects, the school, and the two evening windows that actually exist in your week. We come back with two or three verified profiles, each with the programme and levels they have taught written out, and you take a free discovery call before anything is paid for. Lessons start only after you approve the tutor, and you review the fit every two to four weeks with no lock-in.
