How does IB Gram shortlist an IB home tutor in Nerul?

IB Gram shortlists an IB home tutor in Nerul by working backwards from two facts: which International Baccalaureate (IB) programme the child is enrolled in, and which Navi Mumbai node a tutor can genuinely reach at seven on a weekday evening. Those two filters cut a long list down before anyone reads a profile, which is why what arrives in your inbox is two or three names and not twenty.

The enquiry that reaches us is usually three lines long. A parent writes that their Diploma Programme (DP) Year 1 daughter has gone quiet about Chemistry, or that a Middle Years Programme (MYP) Year 4 son has stopped showing any working. The first thing we ask back is the year group and the subject teacher's most recent written comment, because those two things separate three completely different problems. A child who cannot yet factorise needs a different tutor from a child who factorises fluently and still drops marks because no examiner can follow the line of reasoning. A child who can do both and freezes in a timed paper needs something else again, and often fewer hours rather than more.

Then geography, which in this belt decides more than credentials do. Nerul sits on the Nerul–Palm Beach Road corridor with Nerul station on the Harbour Line, and the tutors who hold a weekday slot here almost always live inside the belt themselves: Seawoods, Sanpada, CBD Belapur, Vashi or Kharghar. Bringing someone over from Chembur or Powai works beautifully for a trial lesson and falls apart around week five, when the novelty wears off and the Sion–Panvel Highway does what it does at 6.30pm. We would rather hand you a thoroughly competent tutor who lives fifteen minutes away than a dazzling one who will begin cancelling the first week it rains properly.

Nothing is locked in after the first lesson. That first session is a diagnostic, and it is entirely normal for a parent to come back and say the subject knowledge was there but the chemistry was not. Families looking across all IB and IGCSE subjects find a tutor in Nerul far faster when they say that in week two rather than after a term of politeness. IB Gram is an independent platform and is not affiliated with any school named anywhere on this page, and we do not guarantee grades to any family who writes to us.

  • 1. Send the board, year group, subjects and your Nerul address
  • 2. We filter to tutors already holding slots inside the Navi Mumbai nodes
  • 3. You see two or three profiles with levels taught and travel radius
  • 4. A diagnostic first lesson happens at your own dining table
  • 5. You confirm a standing weekly slot or ask for a different name

PYP, MYP and DP: three programmes assessed three different ways

The International Baccalaureate (IB) runs three school-age programmes and they are assessed so differently that one tutor is rarely the right answer across all of them. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) has no external examination at all. The Middle Years Programme (MYP) is marked by the school against published criteria. The Diploma Programme (DP) is the only one where an examiner your child will never meet, sitting somewhere far outside Mumbai, reads the script and the coursework.

In PYP the tutoring question is almost never content. A Year 3 child in Nerul is working through units of inquiry, building a portfolio and being assessed on how they ask and document questions. A tutor who drills worksheets into that child is actively unhelpful, because the school is not measuring worksheet accuracy. Where PYP home tuition earns its place is reading fluency, number sense and written expression in English, all of which carry straight into MYP and none of which the unit of inquiry is designed to teach systematically. If your PYP child is happy and reading well, the honest answer is to wait.

MYP is where most Nerul families book their first tutor, and usually for the wrong stated reason. The grade on an MYP report is a criterion judgement, not a percentage, and a child can know the material thoroughly while scoring in the middle band because the response never addressed the command term the task asked for. Analyse, evaluate, justify and describe are not interchangeable, and a tutor who teaches the command terms alongside the content often moves a report more than one who teaches content twice as hard. The personal project in the final MYP year is the other pressure point, and it rewards planning and documentation rather than last-minute brilliance.

DP is where the calendar becomes the opponent. Your child has six subjects split between Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL), an Internal Assessment (IA) in most of them, the Extended Essay (EE) and Theory of Knowledge (TOK) sitting on top. HL does not simply mean harder questions; it means additional content and a deeper standard of justification in the same written time. Confirm the current structure of any subject with your school's IB coordinator or the live subject guide rather than with anything you read online, because the organisation revises those guides on its own cycle.

  • PYP: units of inquiry and portfolio, no external examination
  • MYP: criterion grades from the school, command terms decide bands
  • MYP final year: the personal project rewards documentation over flair
  • DP: six subjects across HL and SL, plus IA, EE and TOK
  • HL adds content and depth of justification, not just harder questions

Subject choice, Higher Level demand and the coursework behind each one

Subject choice in the Diploma Programme (DP) is the decision that quietly sets the next two years, and most Nerul families make it in a fortnight in Year 10 with very little information. Six subjects, one from most groups, three at Higher Level (HL) and three at Standard Level (SL). The question that matters is not which subject your child likes but which combination of coursework deadlines they can survive in the same term, because every subject carries its own piece of internally assessed work and those pieces do not politely space themselves out.

The sciences and mathematics each require an independent investigation or exploration written up by the student: a question of their own choosing, data or reasoning they generate, and an evaluation. This is where able students lose the most ground, because nothing in school rewards the skill until suddenly everything does. A DP1 student who has never designed an experiment is being asked to design one, justify the method, handle uncertainty honestly and write it up to a standard an external examiner recognises. A tutor who has supervised that work before is worth a great deal more than one who simply knows the syllabus content well.

In the language and humanities groups the pressure is different and arrives earlier. English A involves oral and written tasks grounded in texts the school chose, so a tutor must work from your child's actual reading list rather than a generic one. Economics, Business Management, History and Psychology each carry written coursework with its own command structure, and Geography adds fieldwork. In every one of these, marks are lost at the level of the sentence: a claim made without evidence, a source used without comment on its limitations, an evaluation that lists two views and never weighs them.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and the Extended Essay (EE) belong to no subject and therefore to nobody, which is exactly why they slip. The EE is a long independent piece supervised by a teacher who already has a full timetable, and the students who do well are the ones who settled their research question early instead of refining it for four months. We arrange home tuition for both, and a home tutor for all IB and IGCSE subjects Mumbai parents enquire about is more often needed for EE structure than for any content gap.

  • Sciences and maths: an independent investigation written to examiner standard
  • English A: oral and written tasks tied to your school's own text list
  • Humanities: marks lost per sentence on unevidenced claims and listed views
  • EE: research question settled early beats four months of refining it
  • TOK: an essay and exhibition that belong to no single subject teacher

Home tuition across Nerul, Seawoods, Sanpada and CBD Belapur

IB home tuition in Nerul realistically covers four places, and they are the four the brief of any honest tutor already contains: Nerul itself, Seawoods immediately south, Sanpada just north towards Vashi, and CBD Belapur at the far end of Palm Beach Road. A tutor who takes a Nerul slot at 6pm can take a Seawoods slot at 8pm on the same evening without either family noticing a compromise. The same tutor cannot take a Nerul slot and a Bandra slot on the same evening, and anyone who says otherwise has not driven it.

Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra was planned in nodes, and that planning is the single most useful thing to know when you hire. Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel each sit a short drive from the next on the Sion–Panvel Highway and Palm Beach Road, so matching node-to-node works almost perfectly. Palm Beach Road in particular is a genuine asset: it is a fast, wide stretch with few signals, and a tutor coming down from Vashi or up from CBD Belapur treats it as a fifteen-minute hop rather than a journey. The Harbour Line between Vashi and Panvel does the same job for a tutor without a car, and Nerul station puts most of the node inside a short autorickshaw ride.

The limit is the creek. The Trans-Harbour Line links Thane to Vashi, the Atal Setu (MTHL) has made the island city far closer on paper, and the Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 between Belapur and Pendhar serves the Kharghar side. None of that changes the fact that a tutor living in Mumbai's island city or western suburbs will not sustain a weekday evening lesson in Nerul for a full term. They will manage four weeks, then start asking to shift to Sunday, then start asking to move online. Hiring inside the belt is not a limitation on the quality available to you; it is the reason your slot survives until the exams.

Searches like IB tutors near me Nerul and requests for an IB private tutor Nerul families can rely on both come down to the same arithmetic. Within the node you have the deepest bench in the whole Navi Mumbai belt, because the schools are here. Outside it you are buying someone's goodwill, and goodwill has a half-life. We will tell you plainly if a subject at a particular level has nobody available inside the belt, and in that case online becomes a real option rather than a fallback dressed up as one.

  • Nerul, Seawoods, Sanpada and CBD Belapur covered by one tutor's week
  • Palm Beach Road and the Sion–Panvel Highway make node-to-node matching work
  • Nerul station on the Harbour Line serves tutors travelling without a car
  • Trans-Harbour Line and Atal Setu (MTHL) look close and do not hold weekly
  • No tutor inside the belt for your subject means online, stated honestly

The Nerul school calendar that sets deadlines across Navi Mumbai

D.Y. Patil International School sits in Nerul, and that one fact explains why this node has a deeper IB and IGCSE tutor bench than anywhere else in Navi Mumbai. Schools create tutors. Teachers, former teachers, examiners and postgraduates settle within reach of the school that employs them, their friends and their children's school, and over a decade that produces a local pool. Ryan Global School adds to it. Families in Kharghar or Panvel frequently end up hiring someone who lives in Nerul, which is the opposite of how the rest of Mumbai works.

It also means the school calendar here is effectively a regional calendar. When one anchor school in Nerul loads its mock examinations and coursework deadlines into the same fortnight, half the tutors in the belt are suddenly busy at once, and the family that waited until the deadline to look is the family that cannot find anybody. Tutors are booked ahead of the pressure, not during it. The parents who get the person they wanted enquired a term early and held a quiet weekly slot through the easy months.

The rhythm itself is predictable even though the exact dates are not, and you should get the real ones from your school's IB coordinator rather than from any page on the internet. The first term after the long break is when DP1 students settle into six subjects and discover that two of them are harder than expected; that is the cheapest moment to intervene. Later in the first term the mocks arrive, and with them the first honest reading of where a child stands. The middle of the year is the coursework crunch: internal assessment drafts, the Extended Essay (EE) and the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) essay tend to collide, and a DP2 student in Nerul can genuinely find three major pieces due inside one fortnight. Then the examination season, when nothing new should be started.

Naming these schools here is local context and nothing more. IB Gram has no relationship with D.Y. Patil International School or Ryan Global School, we are not affiliated with either, and no tutor we introduce should ever suggest otherwise or claim inside knowledge of a named school's marking. What a good tutor should know is which board pathway the school runs and what the school's own internal deadlines look like, because that is the schedule your child actually lives by.

  • An anchor IB school in Nerul is why the local tutor bench is deep
  • Families from Kharghar and Panvel often hire a tutor based in Nerul
  • One school's mock fortnight books out tutors across the whole belt
  • Enquire a term before the crunch, not during the crunch
  • Get exact dates from your school's IB coordinator, never from a website

Should you book home classes or online lessons in Nerul?

Book home classes if your child is below DP2 or cannot yet work alone for forty minutes without being watched; book online only if the subject or level you need genuinely has nobody inside the Navi Mumbai belt. That is the whole decision, and most families overthink it. An IB home tutor in Nerul who sits at the dining table sees the things a video call cannot: the phone face-down beside the notebook, the handwriting that collapses in the last ten minutes, the diagram drawn from memory and wrong in the same way every time.

Home tuition also solves a problem specific to this belt. A tutor who lives in Seawoods or Sanpada can hold a 6pm Nerul slot every Tuesday for a year without resenting it, and that continuity is worth more than any single quality of instruction. The lesson becomes part of the week rather than an event to be negotiated. Siblings get included. A parent passing through the room hears what is actually being taught, which is the cheapest quality control available to you.

An IB online tutor in Nerul is the right answer in two specific situations. The first is subject scarcity: a minority language, an unusual HL combination, or a specialist examiner-level reader for an Extended Essay topic nobody local has supervised. The second is a DP2 student in the final months who is self-directed, wants to send a draft at 10pm and get it back annotated, and does not need anybody in the room. For a Year 9 student who cannot yet begin a task without prompting, online is the wrong choice and no amount of good software fixes it. We will say so rather than sell you the easier booking.

Hybrid is what most DP families end up with, and it is not a compromise. One home session a week for teaching and diagnosis, plus a short online slot before a deadline for draft feedback. It keeps the fee sensible, because travel is part of what you pay for, and it means a paper marked on Saturday night can be discussed on Sunday morning without anyone driving down Palm Beach Road. We arrange home tuition first and add the online component once a tutor knows the child well enough for a screen to be sufficient.

  • Home first for MYP and DP1: a screen hides a phone and lost attention
  • Online for genuine scarcity: minority languages and unusual HL pairings
  • Online suits a self-directed DP2 student sending drafts late at night
  • Online is wrong for a Year 9 who cannot start a task unprompted
  • Hybrid: one home session weekly plus draft feedback before deadlines

What IB Gram checks before a tutor reaches your door in Mumbai

Every IB home tutor in Nerul we introduce has been through the same checks before you ever see the profile: government photo identity, the degree claimed, and specific evidence of teaching the programme and level in question rather than a general claim of experience. Teaching Physics to engineering entrance candidates is a real skill and it is not the same skill as supervising a Diploma Programme (DP) internal assessment. We ask which programme, which level, which years, and in what setting.

We also check the thing nobody lists on a profile, which is whether a tutor has been inside the assessment. Someone who has marked, moderated or supervised coursework talks about student work differently. Ask a candidate what the common mistake is in the first paragraph of a particular piece of written work and you will know within a minute whether they have read fifty of them or none. A tutor who has only ever taught from a textbook can still be excellent for content gaps, and you should know which of the two you have hired.

Then there is what you must check yourself, because no platform can do it for you. Sit in on the first twenty minutes. Listen for whether the tutor asks your child to explain something back, or only explains. Ask to see what will be covered over the next four weeks and whether it connects to the school's own sequence. Be wary of anyone who offers a guaranteed grade, quotes a success rate, or claims a relationship with a named school. Those three claims are the clearest signal to keep looking, and an honest tutor will tell you plainly what they cannot promise.

IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform. We are not affiliated with the International Baccalaureate Organization, with Cambridge International Education, with Pearson Edexcel, or with any school in Navi Mumbai, and we do not guarantee grades. What we do is narrow a list, verify what can be verified, and replace a tutor without argument when the fit is wrong. The judgement about whether a particular adult is right for your particular child stays with you, which is as it should be.

  • Photo identity and degree verified before any profile is shared
  • Programme and level evidence, not a general claim of experience
  • We flag whether a tutor has marked or supervised the assessment
  • Sit in on the first twenty minutes and listen for recall questions
  • A promised grade, a quoted success rate or a school claim: keep looking

Why a standing weekly slot beats a brilliant one-off lesson

The thing you are actually buying when you arrange IB home classes in Nerul is not an hour of instruction. It is a fixed point in the week that your child cannot negotiate away, held by an adult who remembers what happened last Tuesday. Parents search for the best IB tutor in Nerul and the honest reply is that a merely good tutor at the same time every week, for thirty weeks, outperforms an outstanding one who comes when everybody's diary allows. Learning accumulates on a schedule or it does not accumulate.

This is why we are stubborn about geography. A standing slot survives only if it is cheap for the tutor to honour. Fifteen minutes from Seawoods to Nerul is cheap. An hour and a half from the western suburbs across the creek is not, and the tutor who agreed to it in April is not being dishonest in August when they ask to move to Sunday; they are being human. The node structure of Navi Mumbai, with Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel strung along the Sion–Panvel Highway and Palm Beach Road, means you almost never have to make that trade here.

IB tuition fees in Nerul depend on five things and none of them is a secret. The board and the programme, because a DP Higher Level (HL) subject needs a narrower set of people than a MYP Year 2 class. The level, because the examiner-facing years cost more than the early ones. Subject scarcity, which is the single biggest variable: a mainstream science at SL has many candidates in this belt and a minority language or an unusual HL pairing has very few. Travel distance, which is why node-to-node matching keeps the number down. And session length and frequency, because two shorter sessions a week are priced differently from one long one. We will not quote you a figure on a web page, because any number written here would be wrong for somebody.

One more thing worth saying about frequency. More hours is the most common parental instinct and it is usually wrong. A DP2 student with three internal assessment drafts due is short of thinking time, not teaching time, and adding a second weekly tutor session can make the situation worse. The right move in that fortnight is often to cut the lesson to an hour of focused review and protect the evening. A tutor who tells you to book more hours during the coursework crunch is not reading the situation; one who tells you to book fewer is.

  • Same hour every week for thirty weeks beats occasional brilliance
  • A slot survives when it is cheap for the tutor to honour
  • Fees track board, level, subject scarcity, travel and session length
  • Minority languages and unusual HL pairings are the scarcity premium
  • During a coursework crunch, fewer hours is often the correct advice

What progress looks like at four weeks, one term and one exam cycle

At four weeks you should not be looking at marks. You should be looking at three things: whether your child can say what they worked on without being prompted, whether homework is being started earlier in the evening, and whether the tutor can tell you specifically what the gap was and what they did about it. A tutor who says the student is doing much better and offers nothing concrete has not diagnosed anything. A tutor who says the problem was never the algebra but the inability to read what a question was asking for has, and that is a four-week report worth having.

At one term the school's own assessment should move, though not always in the direction of the headline grade. In the Middle Years Programme (MYP) a criterion band can shift while the overall grade sits still, and that is real progress. In the Diploma Programme (DP), a first draft of an internal assessment coming in on time and in a usable state is a bigger milestone than a two-mark improvement on a test. Ask to see the work rather than the score. We arrange home tuition in this part of Mumbai on the assumption that you will read your own child's output, and the families who do get more from a tutor than the ones who read only the report.

Across a full examination cycle the honest picture is mixed and anybody who tells you otherwise is selling. Some students move substantially, usually because the problem was mechanical: a technique gap, a timing failure, a habit of not reading the command term. Some move modestly. A few do not move much at all, and in those cases the cause is frequently something tuition cannot reach, including a subject chosen for the wrong reason in Year 10 or a genuine wellbeing issue that needs a different kind of help entirely. We would rather say that here than discover it with you in April.

So the limits, plainly. IB Gram does not guarantee grades, publishes no success rate, and will not tell you that a particular number of hours produces a particular outcome. What we will do is replace a tutor quickly when the fit is wrong, tell you when we think you are buying hours you do not need, and say when the honest answer is that your child does not need a tutor at all. That last sentence costs us bookings and we keep writing it because it is true more often than the industry admits.

  • Four weeks: specific diagnosis from the tutor, homework started earlier
  • One term: a criterion band moving counts even if the grade does not
  • DP milestone: a usable first draft delivered on time, not a test score
  • Read your child's actual work, not only the reported mark
  • Some students move a great deal and a few barely move at all

What should you have ready before the first session in Nerul?

Have four things ready and the first session does three times the work: the most recent school report with the teacher comments intact, one recent piece of marked work in the subject that worries you, your child's timetable, and a sentence about what you actually want to change. The marked work matters most. A tutor can read more from one script with an examiner's or teacher's annotations on it than from an hour of your description, and it turns session one from a getting-to-know-you conversation into a diagnosis.

Think about the room before the tutor arrives. Home tuition works best at a table with two chairs side by side rather than across from each other, with the phone in a different room and a sibling's television somewhere else entirely. A bedroom desk facing a wall is fine; a sofa is not, because nobody writes properly on a sofa. If your flat in Nerul or Seawoods has a visitor entry process at the gate, send the tutor's name ahead so the first lesson does not begin with ten minutes of waiting downstairs.

The first session itself should look like this. Twenty minutes of the tutor finding out what your child can and cannot do, usually by asking them to attempt something and talk while they do it. Then a short piece of actual teaching on whatever the gap turned out to be, because a child should leave the first lesson having learned something rather than only having been assessed. Then five minutes with you, in plain language, on what the tutor found and what the next four weeks will cover. If that last five minutes does not happen, ask for it.

Then the standing slot. Pick a time you can defend for a full term rather than the time that looks convenient this week, because the slot you protect in the quiet months is the slot you still have during the coursework crunch. An IB tutor Mumbai parents keep for two years is almost always one who was booked into an ordinary Tuesday and left there. Send us the board, the year group, the subjects and your part of the Navi Mumbai belt, and we will come back with names rather than a brochure.

  • Recent report with teacher comments, not just the grade summary
  • One marked script in the subject that worries you most
  • A table with two chairs side by side, phone in another room
  • Send the tutor's name to your gate desk before the first visit
  • Choose a weekly time you can defend through the busy months
FAQs

Nerul tutoring — questions parents ask

What does an IB home tutor in Nerul actually cost?+

It depends on five variables and we will not print a figure that would be wrong for somebody. An IB home tutor in Nerul is priced against the programme and level first, because a Diploma Programme Higher Level subject draws on a much smaller pool than a Middle Years Programme class. Then subject scarcity, which moves the number more than anything else: a mainstream science has many candidates in this belt, a minority language has very few. Then travel distance, session length and frequency. Tell us the exact subject and level and you will get a real range for that request rather than a price list.

Will a tutor travel to Nerul from Vashi or Kharghar for an evening slot?+

Yes, routinely, because that is exactly the journey Navi Mumbai is built for. Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel sit a short drive apart on the Sion–Panvel Highway and Palm Beach Road, and a tutor living in any of those nodes treats a weekday evening lesson in Nerul as a fifteen or twenty minute hop. What does not hold is a tutor crossing the creek from the island city or the western suburbs for a 6pm weekday slot. That arrangement survives about four weeks before somebody asks to move to Sunday, which is why we match node-to-node instead.

How quickly can home tuition start after I send an enquiry?+

Usually within a few days for a mainstream subject in this node, and longer for a scarce one. The sequence is simple: you send the board, year group, subjects and your address, we come back with two or three profiles, you pick one, and the diagnostic first lesson is scheduled. Where it slows down is a narrow request, such as an unusual Higher Level pairing or a minority language, where we may be waiting on one or two people's availability rather than choosing from a list. We will tell you which situation you are in instead of promising a timeline we cannot hold.

Can a tutor get a gate pass for our building in Seawoods?+

Yes, and the easiest route is to register the tutor as a recurring visitor rather than clearing them weekly. Most complexes in Seawoods, Nerul and CBD Belapur run a visitor entry app or a register at the main gate, and a standing weekly entry for a named person is a normal request at the society office. Send the tutor's full name and phone number to your gate desk before the first lesson. It sounds like a small thing and it prevents the most common waste of a paid hour, which is a tutor standing downstairs for ten minutes while somebody is called.

Does online tuition work as well for a DP Physics student?+

For a self-directed DP2 student, often yes. For a DP1 student still learning how to work alone, usually no. The specific thing online loses is the tutor watching the work happen: the sign dropped halfway through a derivation, the diagram drawn from memory and wrong in the same way each time, the forty-minute attention cliff. A DP2 student who wants to send an internal assessment draft at 10pm and have it back annotated is well served online. We arrange home classes first in this part of Mumbai and add an online slot later, once the tutor knows the student well enough for a screen to be enough.

There has been no progress after a month. What should I do?+

Ask the tutor one specific question: what was the gap, and what did you do about it. If the answer is concrete, the work is probably happening and a month is simply early, particularly for a criterion-based Middle Years Programme grade that moves slowly. If the answer is vague or reassuring, the diagnosis never happened and you should change tutor rather than wait another month. Write to us at that point and we will replace the match. Changing in week five costs you a fortnight; changing in month four costs a term, and politeness is the most expensive thing in this process.

What happens if the tutor is simply not working out?+

You tell us and we find somebody else, without a conversation about whether you gave it long enough. Fit failures are common and they are not usually about competence: a teacher who is excellent with a quiet, methodical student can be wrong for a fast, impatient one. We ask you for one line about what specifically did not work, because that line makes the second match much better than the first. There is no penalty, no required notice period beyond paying for lessons already taught, and no attempt to talk you into persisting with somebody your child has stopped talking to.

Do you cover MYP, or only the exam years?+

Both, and the Middle Years Programme is where a tutor often does the most good for the least money. MYP sits far enough from the external examinations that families postpone it, then arrive in Diploma Programme Year 1 with a gap that is now expensive to close. The work in MYP is different from exam coaching: command terms, criterion-referenced tasks, written structure, and the personal project in the final year. We also arrange Primary Years Programme support, mostly for reading fluency and written expression, and we will tell you when a happy PYP child does not need it.

Should a PYP child in Nerul have a tutor at all?+

Often not, and this is the question we most frequently answer with no. The Primary Years Programme has no external examination, and a Year 3 child who reads fluently, enjoys school and is making progress in number work does not need a weekly adult arriving to drill worksheets. Where early support genuinely helps is a specific, identified difficulty: reading that has stalled, number sense that has not formed, or written English that lags well behind spoken English. If your concern is that other parents in the building have hired someone, that is not a reason, and we will say so.

Does a parent need to be at home during the session?+

For a younger child, yes, somebody adult should be in the flat. For a Diploma Programme student, no, and hovering tends to make the hour worse. Our practical suggestion is to be present and quiet rather than absent or involved: in the next room, within earshot, not in the conversation. Being within earshot once a month is the cheapest quality check available to you, because you hear whether the tutor is asking your child to explain things back or only lecturing. We also ask tutors to give you five minutes at the end of the session, which is a better use of your attention than the full hour.

Can one tutor cover two siblings in the same evening?+

Yes, and in this node it is one of the better arrangements available. A tutor already travelling to your building in Nerul for a 6pm lesson can take a second hour at 7pm with a sibling, which spreads the travel cost across two lessons and makes the whole thing cheaper per hour than two separate bookings. It works cleanly when the siblings are in different years and genuinely separate subjects. It works badly when both need the same subject at the same level and you are tempted to combine them into one hour, because one of the two will always be the one carried.

Are you connected to D.Y. Patil International School or Ryan Global School?+

No. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform, not affiliated with D.Y. Patil International School, Ryan Global School, or any other school in Navi Mumbai, and not affiliated with the International Baccalaureate Organization either. Those schools are named on this page as local context, because their calendars set the pressure points your child lives by and because an anchor IB school in Nerul is the reason the local tutor pool is as deep as it is. If a tutor ever tells you they have inside knowledge of a named school's marking, treat it as a reason to stop the conversation.

Send us four things: the board, the year group, the subjects that worry you, and your part of the Navi Mumbai belt. You will get two or three profiles with the programmes and levels each person has actually taught, not a brochure. Pick one, hold a diagnostic first lesson at your own table, and tell us plainly if the fit is wrong so we can change it in week two rather than month four.
