IB Home Tutor in Kalyan, Mumbai

Looking for an IB home tutor in Kalyan? Start by accepting the geography. Kalyan is the furthest station in this part of Mumbai from the city's International Baccalaureate (IB) school cluster, so the honest arrangement is usually online lessons week to week with home sessions booked before assessment deadlines. Here is how that actually works.

Tutors matched by subject and level first, not by who lives nearest
Kalyan sits on the Central Line; most IB specialists teach from Thane or Mulund
Online spine plus pre-exam home sessions, written into the schedule from week one
Swap the tutor after the diagnostic session if the subject fit is wrong

How IB Gram builds a shortlist for an IB home tutor in Kalyan

A shortlist usually takes a day or two and arrives as two or three named options, each carrying the board they teach, the subjects they actually hold, the year groups they have taught and the mode they can sustain from where they live. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching service based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, not a coaching chain with a branch near Kalyan station, so nobody is sitting in a classroom waiting to be allocated. Every match is a scheduling decision between one tutor's week and one family's week, and in Kalyan that decision is tighter than anywhere else on the Central Line.

What we ask for is narrower than most enquiry forms. The year group and the programme, because a Middle Years Programme (MYP) Year 8 request and a Diploma Programme (DP) Year 12 request go to completely different people. The school, because the assessment calendar drives everything. The two or three subjects that are actually slipping, rather than a list of six. And the specific thing that went wrong: the paper, the criterion, the sentence on the report that made you open Google in the first place. A parent who can say my daughter loses marks when a question says evaluate rather than describe gets a far better IB home tutor in Kalyan than a parent who says she needs help with everything.

Then the travel filter runs, and it is brutal here. Thane tutors cover Thane; Mulund tutors sometimes cross over. A door-to-door weekly slot from either pool into Kalyan is a two to three hour round trip for one lesson, which is why we will often propose an online spine with home sessions clustered before deadlines instead of promising a weekly visit. Saying that in week one is better than watching a weekly commitment quietly collapse in week five, which is the normal failure pattern for IB home tuition in Kalyan arranged purely on a map.

After the diagnostic session you tell us what you saw. If the subject knowledge was there but the pace was wrong, we adjust the plan. If the match was simply wrong, you ask for a different tutor and we go back to the panel. There is no renegotiation ritual and no pressure to keep going out of politeness.

  • 1. Tell us the board, year group, subjects and the exact paper or criterion losing marks
  • 2. We filter the Mumbai panel by subject depth first, then by travel time to Kalyan
  • 3. You receive two or three profiles with subjects, mode, availability and what the rate depends on
  • 4. One diagnostic session, after which you confirm, change the mode or request a swap
  • 5. We check in after session four and again at the close of the first term

Which IB programme is your child actually in?

Three separate programmes hide behind those two letters, and they need different tutors. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) runs through the early and middle primary years. The Middle Years Programme (MYP) covers the middle school years and reports in criterion levels. The Diploma Programme (DP) is the two-year pre-university course with Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL) choices. A strong PYP tutor is frequently the wrong DP tutor, and the reverse is more common still.

PYP work has no textbook to drill, which is exactly why parents in Kalyan find it hard to buy help for. There are units of inquiry, a transdisciplinary structure, and teacher judgement instead of chapter tests. A tutor who is useful here spends the hour on reading fluency, number sense, and getting a seven-year-old to say out loud how she got an answer. A tutor who turns up with a worksheet pack has misunderstood the programme, and the parent is the only person in the room who can spot it.

MYP is where most of our Kalyan enquiries land, and where the confusion is sharpest. Subjects are assessed against criteria rather than a percentage, so a report that reads 5 in Criterion C tells a parent almost nothing until someone translates it. The final year carries the personal project, which is the first time many students have to plan something over months without weekly prompting. Tutors working on MYP spend as much time on the command terms and the criterion descriptors as on the content itself.

DP is the one with the hard deadlines. Six subjects at a mix of HL and SL, plus the core: Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay (EE) and creativity, activity, service. Every subject carries an internal assessment, and the drafts pile into the same few months. If your child is sitting Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel papers rather than IB ones, a separate page covers that request; this one stays inside the IB.

  • PYP: reading fluency, number sense, explaining reasoning out loud
  • MYP: criteria A to D, command terms, the personal project in the final year
  • DP: six subjects, HL and SL choices, plus TOK and the Extended Essay
  • Criterion levels are not percentages; ask the tutor to translate the report
  • PYP and DP need different tutors, not the same tutor at a different speed

Subject choice, Higher Level and Standard Level, and the assessments that come attached

Every IB subject your child picks arrives with an internal assessment bolted to it, and that is the part families underestimate when they choose. IB Gram covers all IB and IGCSE subjects and the tutor in Kalyan you are matched with teaches one or two of them properly rather than all of them vaguely. A single home tutor for all IB and IGCSE subjects Mumbai parents hope for does not exist at DP level, and anyone claiming otherwise is a generalist charging specialist rates.

In the sciences the internal assessment is an individual investigation: the student designs it, runs it, and writes it up against published criteria. Most of the marks that leak away are lost in the design and the evaluation, not in the lab. In DP Mathematics the exploration is a written piece on a topic the student chooses, and choosing badly in the first week costs more than any later tutoring can recover. Economics and Business carry commentary and project work; English A carries oral and written components; languages carry an individual oral; History carries a historical investigation; Visual Arts carries an exhibition with written commentary.

The HL and SL decision is the other one worth paying for advice on. HL is not SL with extra homework. It adds topics, it adds depth in the questions, and in Mathematics it changes the character of the paper rather than its length. A student taking three HL subjects that all carry heavy write-ups has effectively chosen a different year from a student who spread the load. We will not tell you what the components are worth, because the subject guides are revised on the boards' own cycles and the current figures belong to your school's IB coordinator, not to a landing page.

Scarcity is real and it shows up in the match. HL Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches, HL Physics, HL Chemistry and HL Economics are the four requests where the pool thins fastest, and they thin further once a weekly trip to Kalyan is attached. For those subjects the online spine is not a compromise sold to you, it is the only way to reach the person who has actually marked the paper.

  • Sciences: an individual investigation, with marks lost in design and evaluation
  • DP Maths: an exploration, where the topic choice in week one decides the ceiling
  • English A and languages: oral components students rarely rehearse properly
  • HL adds topics and question depth, not just volume of homework
  • Check component structure with your school's IB coordinator, not with a website

Kalyan, Dombivli, Palava City and Thane West: who can actually reach you

An IB home tutor in Kalyan is almost always travelling in from somewhere else, and knowing where from tells you whether the slot will survive the term. Kalyan junction is a transport hub with very little international-board teaching capacity of its own, so the realistic catchment runs back down the Central Line through Dombivli, out to Palava City, and westward to Thane West and Mulund. A tutor already teaching two families in Dombivli can add a Kalyan student on the same evening. A tutor whose other students are in Powai or Bandra cannot, whatever they say in the first phone call.

Palava City is the one address in this cluster that behaves differently, because it is a planned township with its own internal road network and gate protocol rather than a street address off a highway. A tutor going there for the first time should be told which gate, which tower and which parking arrangement before they leave, and should plan on the entry formalities taking a few minutes every single visit. Families there sometimes find it easier to group two children from neighbouring buildings into consecutive slots, which makes the trip worth a tutor's evening.

Westward, Thane sets the schedule for everyone. Thane spreads west to east from the station across Pokhran Road, Ghodbunder Road and Majiwada, and the Ghodbunder stretch is what decides whether a tutor arrives. A tutor living near Thane station typically reaches Kasarvadavali in about twenty minutes off-peak and close to an hour in the evening peak, and a Kalyan trip sits beyond that. The Eastern Express Highway and the Central Line between Thane and Kalyan are the two routes that matter, and the Trans-Harbour line only helps if your tutor happens to live in Navi Mumbai.

So we match for sustainability rather than romance. A tutor in Dombivli who can hold a Tuesday and Friday evening for a year is worth more to a Year 9 student than a celebrated DP examiner in the Western Suburbs who will cancel twice a month. Where the subject demands the examiner, we put the examiner online and keep the home classes in Kalyan for the fortnight before a deadline, when sitting in the same room genuinely changes the output.

  • Kalyan junction is a transport hub, not an international-board teaching hub
  • Dombivli is the most sustainable source of a weekly door-to-door slot
  • Palava City needs gate, tower and parking details sent before the first visit
  • Thane West tutors can reach Kalyan, but rarely twice a week in peak hours
  • Ghodbunder Road evening traffic is the single biggest cause of cancellations

The school calendar Kalyan families plan around

Most Kalyan children on an international board commute out of Kalyan to reach one, and that commute is already eating the hours a tutor wants. Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School in Thane and NES International School in Mulund West are the two names that come up most often in enquiries from this corridor, along with a smaller group of families driving further into the city for the IB schools around Bandra Kurla Complex, Juhu and Powai. A child leaving Kalyan at seven in the morning and getting home at five has a different capacity for a seven o'clock lesson than a child who walks to school.

IB Gram is an independent platform and is not affiliated with Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School, NES International School or any other school named anywhere on this page. We name them because their calendars are the real constraint on scheduling, and because a tutor who has taught students from the same school already knows how that school reports, when it runs mocks, and how early it wants internal assessment drafts.

The pressure points repeat every year. Term reports land and produce a wave of enquiries within the following fortnight. Mock examination weeks collapse the available tutoring time just as demand for it spikes. For DP students the internal assessment drafts and the Extended Essay milestones cluster together, and the Theory of Knowledge essay tends to be the piece that gets abandoned because it has no obvious owner. For MYP students the personal project deadline arrives at exactly the point in the year when the subject teachers are also collecting their final criterion evidence.

The practical consequence for a Kalyan family is to book ahead of those windows rather than into them. A tutor who agrees in October to run three longer home sessions in the week before a January draft deadline will keep that promise. A tutor asked in the same January week to find four extra hours will not, because every other family on the panel asked at the same time.

  • Report weeks drive a fortnight-long spike in tutoring enquiries from this corridor
  • Mock weeks cut available tutoring hours exactly when demand peaks
  • DP drafts, the Extended Essay and the TOK essay bunch into the same months
  • MYP personal project deadlines collide with final criterion evidence
  • Book extra home sessions a term ahead of the deadline, not during it

Should you start with home tuition in Kalyan or online lessons?

For most families here the honest answer is online for the weekly rhythm and home for the weeks that matter. That is not a dodge. It is the arrangement that holds for a full year from a Kalyan address, and the one we lead with precisely because a purely weekly in-person plan from the city has a poor survival rate on this corridor. An IB online tutor in Kalyan can be the person who has actually examined the paper; a tutor who can reach your flat every Tuesday is drawn from a much smaller group.

In-person still wins outright for some children, and it is worth being blunt about who. A Year 5 or Year 8 student who cannot yet work alone for twenty minutes needs somebody physically beside them, and online is the wrong choice for that child no matter how good the tutor is. A tutor in the room sees the phone face-down on the desk, the notebook with three pages of nothing, and the moment attention goes. None of that is visible through a screen. Home classes in Kalyan also remove the technology failure mode entirely, which matters during a power cut in the monsoon.

Online wins on access, consistency and recordability. Shared screens handle graphs, circuit diagrams and marked-up past papers better than a kitchen table does. Nothing cancels because the Eastern Express Highway has stopped moving. Sessions can be recorded, so a student revising in April can replay the explanation from October. For HL subjects where the Kalyan-reachable pool is thin, online is the difference between a specialist and a generalist, and that difference shows up in the marks long before travel convenience does.

Hybrid is what we actually write into most plans. A weekly online lesson with the subject specialist, plus a block of home sessions before each major deadline and before mocks, with the in-person weeks agreed in advance rather than requested at short notice. Some families add a second local tutor for supervised study, who is not teaching the syllabus but is making sure the hour happens. That second role is often what turns a stalled term around, and it is much easier to staff from Dombivli or Kalyan itself.

  • Home tutoring first for younger students who cannot yet work unsupervised
  • Online first for HL subjects where the local specialist pool is thin
  • Hybrid: weekly online with the specialist, home blocks before deadlines
  • A local supervised-study tutor is a different job from a subject specialist
  • Agree in-person weeks months ahead; short-notice requests rarely get filled

How is an IB tutor in Mumbai checked before you meet them?

Before a profile reaches you we have confirmed identity, confirmed the degree is in the subject being taught rather than adjacent to it, taken a teaching history with dates and schools, spoken to references where they exist, and held a subject conversation about a specific recent paper. That last step removes more applicants than the paperwork does. Somebody can hold a good physics degree and still be unable to say what a particular command term expects from a student, and a parent paying for IB home tutoring in Kalyan is paying for exactly that knowledge.

What we do not do is rank tutors or publish scores. There is no league table, no star rating built from a handful of reviews, and no claim that one tutor is stronger than another in the abstract. Fit is specific: the same tutor can be excellent for a confident DP2 student chasing the top band and poor for an anxious MYP student who needs rebuilding from Year 7 algebra. IB Gram does not guarantee grades, and the match is a judgement we are prepared to revisit rather than a verdict.

You should run your own checks in the first conversation, because you will learn more in ten minutes than any profile can tell you. Ask them to mark one question from your child's last paper out loud and explain the mark scheme. Ask what they would do in the first two weeks, specifically. Ask how they handle an internal assessment when the school has already approved a weak research question. Ask which parts of the current subject guide changed most recently, and listen for whether they know or bluff.

Two answers should stop the conversation. Be wary of a tutor who offers a guaranteed grade, because no honest teacher can see your child's May paper from October. And be cautious of a tutor who cannot name a single thing they would not teach, because the IB is wide and a person who claims all of it at depth has not looked closely at any of it.

  • Identity, subject degree, teaching history and references checked before you see a profile
  • A subject conversation about a real paper removes more applicants than documents do
  • No rankings, no star ratings, no published success rates
  • Ask the tutor to mark one of your child's answers aloud
  • Be wary of a tutor who offers a guaranteed grade or claims every subject

Why Kalyan is the hardest address in Mumbai to staff, and what to do about it

Kalyan is a major junction and simultaneously the furthest point in this corridor from the cluster of IB schools, and those two facts together explain every awkward conversation on this page. IB subject specialists settle where the schools are: around Bandra Kurla Complex, Juhu, Powai, Goregaon East and the southern island schools. A DP Physics tutor living in Powai has a dozen potential students inside four kilometres. Adding one Kalyan student means a long evening round trip for a single lesson, and that is why so few of them do it twice.

A search for IB tutors near me Kalyan returns three kinds of result, and it helps to recognise them before you call. There are local coaching institutes that teach the state board or CBSE extremely competently and will happily accept an IB student they are not equipped for. There are aggregator listings showing tutors who are nowhere near Kalyan and have no intention of travelling. And there is a small genuine group, usually in Dombivli, Palava City or Thane West, who do teach international boards and whose diaries fill early. Parents searching for the best IB tutor in Kalyan are really searching for that third group, and no honest platform can rank them for you.

IB tuition fees in Kalyan depend on five things, and travel is a larger share of them here than anywhere else in Mumbai. The board and the level, because DP HL work is scarcer than MYP work. The specific subject, because HL Mathematics and HL Physics tutors are rarer than English or Business tutors. Session length, since a ninety-minute session is not simply one and a half times a sixty-minute one in a tutor's week. Travel time, which a tutor crossing from Thane absorbs into the rate whether or not it is itemised. And frequency, because two fixed weekly slots are worth more to a tutor's schedule than one floating one. An IB private tutor Kalyan families engage online usually costs less in travel terms and more in subject scarcity terms, which is why the two modes often land closer in price than people expect.

The practical answer is to stop optimising for proximity and start optimising for persistence. Decide which subjects genuinely need a specialist and accept those online. Decide which child genuinely needs a person in the room and staff that locally, even if the tutor is a generalist used for supervision rather than instruction. Then buy the in-person hours where they convert best: the fortnight before a draft, the week before a mock, the revision block before the final papers. That is a worse page to sell and a better plan to run.

  • IB specialists cluster near the IB schools, which Kalyan is furthest from
  • Local institutes strong on other boards will still accept IB students
  • Fees depend on board, level, subject scarcity, session length and travel
  • Two fixed weekly slots are easier to staff than one floating slot
  • Buy in-person hours where they convert: drafts, mocks and revision blocks

What progress looks like at four weeks, one term and one exam cycle in Mumbai

At four weeks you should not be looking at grades, and a tutor who points at a grade after four weeks is pointing at noise. What changes first is behaviour around the work. Homework starts arriving before the deadline rather than during it. The student can read a question and say what it is actually asking before attempting it. The blank-page start, which is the real symptom behind most enquiries, happens less often. If none of that has moved after four sessions, something is wrong with the match or the diagnosis, and that is the moment to say so.

At one term you should see something measurable, though not necessarily large. A class test moving up a band. An internal assessment draft that has a specific research question instead of a topic. A DP student who can write an evaluation paragraph without being prompted for the structure. In MYP the clearest signal is a criterion level moving on the strand the tutor targeted, which is why we ask which criterion is weak at the start rather than guessing later.

At one exam cycle the honest picture depends heavily on when you started. A Year 10 or DP1 student with two years ahead of them has time to rebuild foundations, and that is where the largest movements happen. A DP2 student beginning in January before May papers can tidy technique, fix timing, and stop losing marks they already know how to earn. They cannot rebuild two years of content in a term, and a tutor who implies otherwise is selling. IB Gram does not guarantee grades and will not publish a success rate, because a number like that says nothing about your child.

There are also cases where the answer is not a tutor at all. If the real issue is sleep, five hours of screen time, an undiagnosed learning difference, or a subject chosen to please a parent, tutoring buys an expensive delay. We have told families in Kalyan to talk to the school counsellor first, and occasionally to do nothing at all because a child scoring in the middle band and sleeping properly is fine. That conversation costs us a booking and is still the right one.

  • Four weeks: homework timing, question comprehension, fewer blank starts
  • One term: a band movement, or a draft with a real research question
  • One exam cycle: largest gains for students with two years still ahead
  • A DP2 student starting in January can fix technique, not rebuild content
  • Sometimes the honest answer is the school counsellor, not a tutor

Starting IB home classes in Mumbai from a Kalyan address

Have four things ready and the first session stops being a get-to-know-you hour. The most recent report, in full rather than summarised. One marked paper or assignment with the teacher's comments still on it, because that is the single most useful document a tutor can read. The subject guide or syllabus version your school is using, which the coordinator will confirm. And two or three time windows that genuinely work on a weekday, allowing for the commute home from Thane or Mulund.

Say out loud at the start whether you want a weekly in-person slot or a hybrid plan, and say where you are. A tutor in Dombivli hearing Kalyan will quote differently from a tutor in Powai hearing the same word, and both are being honest. If your address is inside a gated township such as Palava City, send the gate and tower details before the first visit rather than on the day, and tell us whether a visitor pass needs arranging each week or once.

The first session is a diagnostic, not a lesson. A good tutor spends it finding out what the student can do unaided, where the understanding actually broke, and whether the problem is content, technique or confidence. Expect them to ask the student to attempt something and then talk through their reasoning while being watched, which is uncomfortable and necessary. Expect no homework from that session beyond possibly one question.

What you should get out of it is short: two or three sentences naming what will be worked on in the first month, in what order, and what you should see by week four. If a tutor cannot write that down after meeting your child, ask for a different tutor. That request is normal, it is not a complaint, and it is far cheaper in January than in April.

  • Bring the last report, one marked paper and the current syllabus version
  • Name two or three weekday windows that survive the commute home
  • Send gate, tower and visitor-pass details before the first home visit
  • Session one is a diagnostic: the student works while the tutor watches
  • Expect a written two-line plan for the first month, or ask for a swap
FAQs

Kalyan tutoring — questions parents ask

Will an IB home tutor actually travel to Kalyan every week?+

Some will, and they are almost always already teaching in Dombivli, Palava City or Kalyan itself. A tutor coming from Powai, Bandra or Juhu for a single lesson is agreeing to a two to three hour round trip, and that commitment usually fails somewhere between week five and the first monsoon week. If you want a genuinely weekly in-person slot, ask where the tutor's other students live before you ask anything else. If the answer is nowhere near the Central Line, treat the weekly promise as optimistic and plan a hybrid instead.

What does an IB home tutor in Kalyan cost, and what changes the price?+

We do not publish a price list, because the figure moves with the request. Five things change it: the programme and level, since DP Higher Level work is scarcer than MYP work; the specific subject, because HL Mathematics and HL Physics tutors are rarer than English tutors; session length; travel time, which a tutor crossing Thane absorbs into the rate; and frequency, because two fixed slots are easier to schedule than one floating one. IB home tuition in Kalyan delivered in person costs more in travel terms and the same tutor online usually costs less, so ask for both numbers.

Can a tutor reach Kalyan for an evening slot after school?+

A seven o'clock weekday start is realistic for a tutor based in Dombivli or Kalyan and difficult for anyone coming from Thane West or further. The Ghodbunder Road and Eastern Express Highway stretches that look short on a map take close to an hour in the evening peak, so an eight o'clock start may be the honest version of the same slot. Many families here find a late slot works better for the tutor and worse for the child, who has already commuted home from Thane or Mulund, and settle on weekend mornings plus one shorter weekday online lesson.

Is online really good enough for Diploma Programme subjects?+

For most DP subjects, yes, and for HL subjects from a Kalyan address it is usually better than the in-person alternative available to you. Past papers, mark schemes, graphs and worked solutions all share well on a screen, sessions can be recorded for revision in April, and nothing cancels because a highway stopped moving. The honest exception is a student who cannot sustain attention without somebody beside them. Online is the wrong choice for a Year 9 student who cannot yet work alone, and for that child a local tutor in the room beats a distant specialist.

My child is in MYP and the school keeps mentioning criteria. What does that mean?+

MYP subjects are assessed against four named criteria rather than a single percentage, so a report reads as criterion levels and parents from a marks-based system find it opaque. Each criterion has published descriptors, and most lost marks come from not answering what the descriptor asks rather than from not knowing the content. A useful tutor will take one piece of your child's recent work, show you which criterion it was marked against, and point at the sentence that would have moved the level. Ask for that in the diagnostic session; it is the fastest way to tell whether a tutor knows the programme.

What happens if the tutor is not working out after three sessions?+

Tell us and we go back to the panel. There is no probation period to serve out and no requirement to justify the decision at length, though the detail helps us match better the second time. The most useful thing you can say is what specifically failed: subject knowledge, pace, the student not talking, homework not being set, or sessions starting late. A mismatch found in week two costs a fortnight. The same mismatch tolerated politely until the term report costs a term, which is the more common and more expensive mistake.

Do you cover Dombivli and Palava City as well as Kalyan?+

Yes, and in practice they share the same tutor pool. A tutor who takes a Kalyan student is usually travelling along the Central Line corridor that runs through Dombivli, and Palava City sits close enough to be on the same evening route. Thane West tutors reach all three, though less reliably twice a week. If you live in one of these areas and a neighbour's child studies the same subject at the same level, say so: consecutive slots in adjacent buildings make the trip worth a tutor's evening and improve your chances of holding a fixed weekly time.

Does a parent need to be at home during the home tuition session?+

For a primary or early middle-school child, yes, somebody responsible should be in the flat, though not in the room. For an older MYP or DP student it is not necessary and often counterproductive, because a student who is being watched by a parent performs rather than struggles honestly. What does matter is the space: a table, a chair, decent light, and the television off. We would rather run home classes in Mumbai at a cleared dining table than in a bedroom with a sibling and a screen competing for the hour.

There has been no progress after a month. What should I do?+

Ask for a specific account of what the first four sessions targeted and what evidence there is of movement, and ask the student separately what they think changed. Usually one of three things has gone wrong: the diagnosis was wrong and the actual gap sits two years earlier, the sessions are being spent on homework rather than on the gap, or the student is not doing anything between lessons. The first is fixable by the tutor, the second by rewriting the plan, and the third by nobody except the family. We will tell you which one we think it is.

Can one tutor handle all my child's IB subjects?+

At PYP level often yes, at MYP level sometimes for two or three related subjects, and at DP level almost never. A DP student needing HL Chemistry and English A help needs two people, and a single tutor claiming both at examination depth is usually strong in one and improvising in the other. The cheaper-looking option costs more in practice, because the improvised subject quietly produces the weaker internal assessment. We would rather send you two names and have you book fewer total hours of each.

Do tutors from Thane West or Mulund take Kalyan students?+

Some do, mainly for weekend slots or for pre-exam blocks rather than for twice-weekly evening lessons. Thane tutors largely cover Thane, and Mulund tutors sometimes cross over, so the Kalyan trip is at the edge of what either group sustains. The arrangement that holds is a fixed weekend morning in person plus a midweek online lesson. Families who insist on two in-person weekday sessions from that pool generally end up renegotiating by the second month, which is why we propose the hybrid version first rather than after it has failed.

How many hours a week does a DP1 student in Kalyan usually need?+

Most DP1 families start with two hours a week in one subject, or two subjects at one hour each, and increase only when there is a reason. More hours early tends to produce dependence rather than progress, because the student stops attempting anything alone. The sensible pattern is a steady base through the year with deliberate extra blocks before internal assessment deadlines and mocks. An IB tutor in Mumbai who proposes six hours a week in the first month, before seeing a single piece of marked work, is selling capacity rather than teaching.

Find your Kalyan tutor

Send us the year group, the school, the two subjects that are slipping and your Kalyan address, and say whether you want a weekly in-person slot or a hybrid plan. You will get two or three named tutors with their subjects, mode and availability, usually within a day or two. Book one diagnostic session, read the two-line plan it produces, and then decide. If the match is wrong, ask for another and we will go back to the panel.
