How does IB Gram find a Spanish ab initio tutor in Mumbai for a true beginner?

We match on three things in this order: whether the tutor has taught Spanish ab initio at Diploma Programme (DP) level rather than only Spanish B, whether they can reach your building for the same slot every week of a term, and whether they will mark written work instead of only holding conversation. Two or three names usually reach a family within a couple of days of a clear query. IB DP Spanish ab initio home tuition in Mumbai breaks down most often on the second of those three, not the first.

The request a parent sends is rarely that detailed. It is usually one line: Spanish started in DP1, the school is in Bandra Kurla Complex or Juhu or Powai, and the first report said the verb endings are not there. From that we need the year group, the examination session the child is sitting, whether Spanish is the Group 2 choice by preference or by timetable, and which two evenings the family can genuinely hold. The rest we ask the tutor, not the parent.

Zone comes before decoration in practice. A tutor in Khar West who has taken four beginner cohorts through to the oral is a better match for a family in Santacruz West than a more decorated tutor in Chembur, because the Chembur tutor will start cancelling in July and the Khar West tutor will not. We say that plainly to families who want the longest résumé on the shortlist regardless of distance. Spanish ab initio runs across two years, and what damages it is an irregular schedule rather than a slightly less experienced teacher.

The first session is paid and diagnostic rather than a trial in the sales sense. The tutor gives the student a short unseen text, a short listening clip, and a written message to compose for a friend. What comes back shows whether the obstacle is vocabulary, verb morphology, reading strategy, or simply never having been shown how the papers are read by an examiner. A written diagnosis follows within a week, and the next ten sessions are built from that document rather than from a generic scheme of work.

  • 1. Send the school, the DP year, and the month Spanish lessons began
  • 2. We shortlist tutors who have taught beginners, not only Spanish B classes
  • 3. You speak to two or three and choose one paid diagnostic session
  • 4. The tutor sends a short written diagnosis and a ten-session plan
  • 5. Wrong fit? Say so in week two and we re-shortlist without argument

Where Spanish ab initio sits in the IB Diploma Programme

Spanish ab initio is a Group 2 language acquisition course in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP), designed for students with little or no previous exposure to the language. It is offered at Standard Level (SL) only. Spanish B, the other common route, assumes some prior study. Both are assessed through written papers and an oral component, and both are examined on what a candidate can do with the language rather than on how long they have studied it.

Placement between ab initio and Spanish B is a decision the school makes with the family, usually on the basis of prior learning, a placement task, and what the student studied in the Middle Years Programme (MYP) or at International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) level. It is not a decision a tutor makes, and it is not something IB Gram can arrange. If your child is in the wrong course, the conversation is with the DP coordinator, and the earlier in DP1 it happens the easier it is to move.

It helps to retire one idea early: ab initio is not the soft option. A beginner course still asks for accurate written Spanish in defined text types, listening at normal speed, reading of authentic material, and a sustained spoken interaction with a teacher. The vocabulary ceiling is lower than Spanish B, so the marking leans harder on precision within that smaller range. Students who choose it expecting an easy mark usually discover in DP2 that the accuracy demand is where the marks actually move.

The course is organised around prescribed themes rather than a grammar syllabus, which surprises parents who learned languages from a textbook chapter list. Identity, experiences, human ingenuity, social organisation and sharing the planet give the vocabulary its shape, and the grammar arrives in service of those topics. For structure, weightings and component details as they stand for your child's session, read the current subject guide with the school's DP coordinator rather than any figure quoted on a tuition website, including ours.

  • Group 2 language acquisition, offered at Standard Level (SL) for beginners
  • Spanish B assumes prior study; ab initio assumes very little or none
  • Course placement is the school's decision, made with the family
  • Themes, not grammar chapters, organise the vocabulary and the assessment
  • Confirm component structure with the DP coordinator and current subject guide

Paper by paper: the exam technique a beginner in Spanish actually needs

Take Paper 2 reading first, because it is the component where technique moves marks fastest. The answer to a reading question is in the text. A beginner's instinct is to translate the whole passage and then hunt; the trained instinct is to read the question, find the lexical overlap in the passage, and lift the answer from the surrounding clause. The trap that costs most marks is the misleading cognate. A student who sees asistir and writes assist, or embarazada and writes embarrassed, or actualmente and writes actually, has answered a different question than the one asked. We keep a running list of these in the student's own notebook, built from their own mistakes rather than from a printed handout.

Paper 2 listening is harder to self-teach because replay is limited and the clock does not stop. The technique is almost entirely front-loaded: the reading time before the audio starts is not a courtesy, it is the part of the component a student can control. In that window the student underlines what each question is actually asking for, decides whether the answer will be a number, a place, a time, a reason or an opinion, and writes the expected shape in the margin. A student who knows they are listening for a day of the week will catch it; a student listening for everything catches nothing.

Paper 1 is the writing paper, and here the single most recoverable mark is text type. A blog post, an email, a set of instructions, a diary entry and a notice each carry conventions: a greeting and sign-off, a register, a layout, sometimes a date or a heading. Getting those right rescues marks that imperfect accuracy would otherwise lose, because the task is partly about whether the candidate has produced the text the task asked for. We drill the conventions until they are automatic, which frees the student's attention for the language itself.

The individual oral is a conversation with the teacher, built around a visual stimulus, and the course assesses the student's own school. A beginner's most common failure is description so thin it ends in fifteen seconds. The remedy is a repeatable analytical frame rather than a memorised script, and because that component deserves its own treatment we cover it in full on our Spanish oral pages. For Spanish ab initio home classes Mumbai families book through us, the oral is normally the second term's focus once writing is stable.

  • Reading: locate the lexical overlap, lift the answer, resist the false friend
  • Listening: use the reading time to predict the answer's shape and length
  • Paper 1: text type conventions first, because they are the cheapest marks
  • Writing: greeting, register, sign-off and layout checked before accuracy
  • Oral: an analytical frame for the image, not a rehearsed paragraph
  • Every error logged in the student's notebook, not a generic worksheet

Home tuition across all six Mumbai zones

IB DP Spanish ab initio home tuition in Mumbai is arranged zone by zone, because Spanish ab initio tutors are scarcer than Maths tutors and the temptation to pull one across the city is strong and usually wrong. In South Mumbai we match within the island: Colaba and Cuffe Parade families are served from Worli, Tardeo, Walkeshwar, Fort and Babulnath, and an eight-kilometre crossing can still lose forty minutes to the Peddar Road and Haji Ali signals in the evening peak. The Coastal Road has helped the Worli to Nariman Point run; it has done nothing for the Peddar Road bottleneck.

The Western Suburbs run north to south along the Western Line and the Western Express Highway, so matching along the line works and matching across it does not. Bandra, Khar West, Santacruz West and Juhu form one cluster; Andheri West, Goregaon East, Malad, Kandivali East, Borivali and Dahisar East form another, now stitched together by Metro Lines 2A and 7 and by Link Road. A tutor living in Malad reaches Kandivali East in fifteen minutes and Bandra in fifty, which decides the shortlist more than anything on a curriculum vitae.

The Central Suburbs sit on the Central Line and the Eastern Express Highway, with Powai and Chandivali hanging off the Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) in between. Powai is the exception worth knowing: physically central, no station of its own, reached by road from Andheri East, Kanjurmarg or Ghatkopar, and home to a large IB cohort. The Eastern Suburbs stretch from Chembur and Govandi through Vikhroli and Bhandup to Mulund West, with the Eastern Freeway making Wadala and Chembur far closer to the island than the map suggests.

Navi Mumbai is planned in nodes, and we match node to node: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel are each a short drive apart on Palm Beach Road and the Sion Panvel Highway, while the Atal Setu has shortened the island crossing without making a 7pm weekday lesson from Colaba sustainable for a full term. Thane is governed by Ghodbunder Road: a tutor near the station reaches Kasarvadavali in twenty minutes off-peak and close to an hour in the evening, so Pokhran Road and Majiwada families are matched locally and Mulund tutors cross over only for late-evening slots.

  • South Mumbai: Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Worli, Tardeo, Walkeshwar, Fort, Babulnath
  • Western Suburbs: Bandra, Khar West, Santacruz West, Juhu, Andheri West, Borivali
  • Central Suburbs: Powai, Chandivali, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Kanjurmarg, Mulund West
  • Eastern Suburbs: Chembur, Govandi, Vikhroli, Bhandup, Wadala
  • Navi Mumbai: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel, matched node to node
  • Thane: Pokhran Road, Majiwada, Kasarvadavali, scheduled around Ghodbunder Road

The Mumbai school calendar and the months Spanish actually bites

Families we work with attend Dhirubhai Ambani International School and the American School of Bombay in Bandra Kurla Complex, Ecole Mondiale World School and Jamnabai Narsee International School in Juhu, Oberoi International School off JVLR, Hiranandani Foundation School in Powai, Bombay International School at Babulnath, Aditya Birla World Academy in Tardeo, B.D. Somani International School at Cuffe Parade, NES International School in Mulund West, and D.Y. Patil International School in Nerul. Naming them is local context and nothing more. IB Gram is an independent platform and is not affiliated with any school, with the IB organisation, or with any language certification body.

The calendar matters more for a beginner language than for almost anything else, because Spanish ab initio has no fat to cut. A May-session DP1 student in Mumbai, Maharashtra typically starts Spanish in late July or August with no prior exposure, and by the October break is expected to handle present-tense description. The first real pressure point is the January to February DP1 internal examinations, which is usually the first time a family sees a Spanish grade that looks like a Diploma grade rather than a classroom effort mark.

DP2 is where the collisions happen. September to November is the Extended Essay (EE) and Internal Assessment (IA) season across every subject, and Spanish is the subject that quietly gets dropped from the week when the Physics IA and the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) essay are both due. That is precisely when vocabulary decays. The individual oral is scheduled by the school, often in the window between the mock examinations and the May session, and a student who has not spoken Spanish aloud since October will find out the hard way what maintenance is for.

Our practical advice to Mumbai parents is to keep the Spanish slot through the IA months even if it shortens. A forty-minute session that holds the listening and speaking habit beats a cancelled hour, and the student arrives at the mocks with something to work from. November-session families run the same sequence shifted roughly six months, with the pressure landing over the monsoon rather than over Diwali, and that genuinely changes which months a tutor should protect.

  • July to August: Spanish starts from zero for most DP1 beginners
  • January to February: first DP1 internals, first realistic Spanish grade
  • September to November DP2: EE and IA season, when Spanish gets dropped
  • Mocks to May: the individual oral window, scheduled by the school
  • November-session families run the same cycle shifted about six months

Is home tuition or online better for IB DP Spanish ab initio in Mumbai?

For a beginner, home tuition wins on attention and loses on tutor choice, and for most families in Mumbai the attention matters more in DP1. An IB home tutor in Mumbai sitting across a table can see the student hesitate before a verb ending, can take the pen and correct a written line in front of them, and can tell the difference between a student who does not know a word and a student who is embarrassed to attempt it. That last distinction is most of the first term of a beginner language, and it is the one a screen hides.

IB DP Spanish ab initio home tuition in Mumbai also solves the thing that actually kills tuition arrangements, which is attrition. A tutor who walks into your building at 6.30pm every Tuesday becomes part of the week. A video call competes with everything else on the laptop. Spanish ab initio home classes Mumbai families run at home also pull the parent into useful proximity: you overhear the session, you hear whether your child is speaking or being spoken at, and you can ask a real question at the end of the hour.

Online is the honest answer in three situations. An IB online tutor in Mumbai is the right call when the subject is scarce enough that no local tutor exists, when the family has moved mid-cycle, and when the component being worked on is listening or oral practice, where audio quality and screen sharing are genuinely neutral or better. A shared document with the tutor's annotations visible live is a strong way to work on Paper 1 text types. Reading strategy transfers well online too, because the text is on the screen for both of you.

Hybrid is what most of our Spanish families settle into by DP2: one home session a week for writing and correction, one shorter online session for listening and oral maintenance, and the online one is the session that survives a family trip or an examination week. If you are weighing a search for IB private tutor Mumbai against a home arrangement, the real question is not which format is better in the abstract but which one your family will still be running in March.

  • Home tuition first: hesitation, handwriting and pen-in-hand correction are visible
  • A standing weekly slot at your building beats a flexible call that slips
  • Online suits listening drills, oral maintenance and live text-type annotation
  • Online is right when no local tutor teaches ab initio in your zone
  • Hybrid by DP2: one home hour for writing, one short online hour for speaking

How are IB home tutors in Mumbai checked before you meet them?

Every tutor on a shortlist has had their identity document verified, their stated qualification seen as a document rather than taken on trust, and their claimed IB teaching experience checked by subject and by level. For a request as specific as IB DP Spanish ab initio home tuition in Mumbai we additionally confirm that the tutor has taught beginners through a full Diploma Programme cycle, because a fluent Spanish speaker who has only taught adult conversation classes will not know how Paper 1 text types are credited. Fluency and examination teaching are different skills.

What we do not do is test anyone's language proficiency ourselves, and we will not pretend otherwise. We check documents and references, not accents. So there are things worth checking yourself in the first two sessions, and a parent who does them is better protected than any verification badge can make them. Ask which examination sessions the tutor has prepared students for. Ask to see a piece of marked student writing with the criteria annotations visible, with names removed. Ask what they would do in week one with a student who cannot conjugate a regular present-tense verb.

Be wary of a tutor who offers a guaranteed grade, and be equally wary of one who will not show you marking. The second tells you more than the first. A tutor who promises a specific grade in a beginner language after two years is describing something nobody can deliver, and an honest tutor will say that the student's own written output over a term is the only forecast worth having. Ask instead for a monthly written note on what has moved and what has not.

There is one boundary we hold without exception. A tutor may teach, explain, model, correct and mark, and a tutor may never write, draft, edit into shape or supply any part of a piece of work your child submits. That applies to written assignments, to any recorded or scripted material, and to anything that carries the student's name to the school. If a tutor offers to help in that direction, end the arrangement and tell us, and we will remove them from matching.

  • Identity, qualification documents and IB experience checked by subject and level
  • Beginner-cohort experience confirmed specifically, not just Spanish fluency
  • We verify documents and references; we do not test language proficiency
  • Ask for anonymised marked writing with criteria annotations in session two
  • Tutors teach and mark; they never write or supply any part of a submission

Planning in English, the personal error list, and marking your own work

Three habits separate a beginner who gains two grades over DP2 from one who plateaus, and none of them is vocabulary learning. The first is planning in English before writing in Spanish. A student who starts composing directly in Spanish writes what they can say rather than what the task asked, and the result is a fluent-looking answer that misses half the prompt. Ninety seconds of English planning, listing the content points the task demands and the text type required, costs almost nothing and reliably recovers content marks. The Spanish is then a translation problem with a known target instead of an improvisation.

The second habit is the personal error list. Not a vocabulary list, an error list: every mistake the tutor marks, written out by the student as the wrong version and the right version side by side, with a one-line note on why. After a month a beginner's list is boringly repetitive, and that is the point. It is almost always ser against estar, gender agreement on adjectives, preterite against imperfect once the past tense arrives, and the preposition after a handful of common verbs. Six recurring errors account for most lost accuracy marks, and they are specific to the individual student.

The third habit is self-marking against the criteria before the tutor sees the work. The student writes the piece, then reads the published assessment criteria for the component and marks their own answer, writing one sentence on why they placed it where they did. The first few attempts are wildly generous. By the fifth the student has internalised what the examiner is looking for, which is the whole objective. A tutor who marks for a student indefinitely produces a student who cannot check their own work in an examination hall.

Writing to the task sits underneath all three. Every Paper 1 task carries an audience, a purpose and a text type, and a beginner's strongest move is to make those three explicit at the top of the plan. Writing to a friend licenses informality; writing a notice for a school board does not. Mumbai students who have grown up switching register between English, Hindi and Marathi already do this instinctively in their own languages, and naming that transferable skill out loud is often the moment the writing paper stops feeling arbitrary.

  • Plan content points in English first, then write the Spanish to that plan
  • Error list: wrong version, right version, one line on why, student's handwriting
  • Expect six recurring errors to dominate; drill those, not the whole grammar
  • Self-mark against the published criteria before the tutor marks the piece
  • Name the audience, purpose and text type at the top of every writing plan

What progress looks like at four weeks, one term and one exam cycle

At four weeks you should not expect a grade change, and any tutor telling you otherwise is managing you rather than teaching your child. What you should see is a diagnosis you can read, an error list with entries in it, and a student who can describe what Paper 1 asks for. If your child can tell you that a blog post needs a title and a sign-off and an email needs a greeting, the first month has done its job. If after four weeks nobody can tell you what is actually weak, that is the signal to change tutor, not to wait another month.

At one term the measurable change is in written accuracy within a narrow range, and in listening confidence. A beginner who could write four correct present-tense sentences in September should be writing a short structured text with a recognisable text type by December, with the recurring errors reduced rather than eliminated. Reading comprehension usually improves first because it responds to technique. Speaking lags, and that is normal rather than a warning sign, because speaking is the skill a weekly session touches least.

Across one full examination cycle, from DP1 to the mocks, the realistic shape is steady movement in reading and writing, late movement in listening, and oral performance that depends heavily on how much the student spoke aloud during the IA months. We do not guarantee grades. Nobody honest does, because attendance, homework, the school's own teaching, the student's other five subjects and the papers they actually draw on the day all sit outside a tutor's control. What a good tutor controls is whether the student knows how each component is marked.

When a tutor is not working out, tell us in week two rather than week eight. The usual reasons are mundane: the tutor explains in long monologues and the student has stopped asking questions, the slot keeps moving, or the marking is a tick rather than a comment. We re-shortlist, you keep the diagnosis and the error list, and the new tutor starts from that rather than from zero. Searches like IB tutors near me Mumbai bring up plenty of names; what matters is having a replacement route that does not cost you a month.

  • Four weeks: a readable diagnosis, a started error list, text types understood
  • One term: structured short writing, reduced recurring errors, faster reading
  • Listening moves late; speaking moves last and needs deliberate maintenance
  • No tutor controls attendance, the school's teaching or the paper drawn
  • Flag a poor fit in week two; the error list transfers to the new tutor

Booking IB DP Spanish ab initio home tuition in Mumbai

Send four things and a shortlist comes back quickly: the school and its location, the Diploma Programme year and examination session, the month Spanish lessons started at school, and two evening windows your family can hold through a term. If you have a report comment or a marked piece of Spanish writing, attach it. One marked paragraph tells a tutor more than a paragraph of description, because the errors in it are the plan.

Prepare three things before the first session. A table and two chairs in a room with a door, because a beginner language session involves speaking aloud and a student will not attempt an unfamiliar sound in a living room with visitors in it. The school's Spanish file, including any marked work and the current unit, so the tutor is teaching the same themes the class is on. And the student present without a phone, which is not a discipline point but a listening one.

The first session runs as a diagnosis rather than a lesson. A short unseen text, a short audio clip, a written message to compose, and a conversation about what the student finds hardest. The tutor should leave having started the error list and having told you, in plain language, which of the four skills is furthest behind. A written note follows within the week with a ten-session plan and the first homework.

What a family typically wants when they describe a Spanish ab initio IB Diploma Programme (DP), Years 1-2 tutor Mumbai agencies can supply is simply a competent teacher who turns up. That is most of it. Parents who type best IB tutor in Mumbai into a search box are usually asking a narrower question: who has taught this exact beginner course, who will come to Powai or Kharghar or Khar West on a Tuesday, and who will mark the writing. Those are the three questions our shortlist answers.

  • Send school, DP year, session, and two protected evening windows
  • Attach one marked piece of Spanish writing if you have one
  • Prepare a quiet room with a door, the school Spanish file, no phone
  • First session is diagnostic: unseen text, audio clip, written message
  • A written ten-session plan and the first homework follow within a week
FAQs

Mumbai tutoring — questions parents ask

Can a home tutor travel to Kharghar or Panvel for a weekday evening Spanish slot?+

Yes, if the tutor already lives in Navi Mumbai. We match node to node across Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel, because Palm Beach Road and the Sion Panvel Highway make those hops short and predictable. What does not hold for a full term is a tutor crossing from the island city for a 7pm weekday lesson, even with the Atal Setu. They manage six weeks and then start rescheduling. If no ab initio tutor exists in your node, we will say so and propose a hybrid arrangement rather than set up a commute that collapses in the monsoon.

What does our society gate need from the tutor before the first home session?+

A name, a phone number and a standing entry for a fixed weekly slot, which most Mumbai complexes will issue once a resident registers the tutor as a regular visitor. Sort it before the first session rather than during it, because fifteen minutes lost at the gate comes out of the lesson. In larger gated developments the tutor may need a photograph and an identity document on file with the facility office. Tell us at matching if your building restricts visitor entry after a certain hour, since that quietly rules out some evening slots and we would rather know first.

My daughter is starting Spanish ab initio with no Spanish at all. Is she behind?+

No. The course is built for exactly that starting point, and most of her class will be in the same position. The ones who look ahead in September usually have a Spanish-speaking relative or a holiday-course head start on vocabulary, and that advantage shrinks by DP2 because the marks sit in accuracy and text-type control rather than in word count. What matters is whether she is taught how the papers are read. A student who starts from zero in July and learns the technique can finish well ahead of a student with better vocabulary and no method.

Is Spanish ab initio an easier way to score in Group 2 than Spanish B?+

It is a different course rather than an easier route, and treating it as a scoring shortcut is the common mistake. The vocabulary range is smaller, so the marking leans harder on precision inside that range: gender agreement, verb endings, and whether the written piece is actually the text type the task asked for. Students who arrive expecting a soft option tend to find out in DP2. Placement between ab initio and Spanish B is in any case the school's decision taken with the family, based on prior learning, not something a tutor or a platform can arrange.

How do IB tuition fees in Mumbai work for a beginner language subject?+

Rates depend on five things and we will not quote a figure that pretends otherwise: the board and level, how scarce the subject is, how far the tutor travels, session length, and whether the tutor is marking written work between sessions. Spanish ab initio sits at the scarce end in Mumbai, because far fewer tutors teach it than teach Maths or Physics, and scarcity moves the number more than experience does. Travel is the second factor: a tutor coming from Khar West to Santacruz West costs less than one crossing the city. Ask any tutor what marking is included.

Why does my son lose marks on reading questions when the answer is in the text?+

Almost always because of a misleading cognate. Spanish is full of words that look like English words and mean something else, and a beginner under time pressure trusts the resemblance. Asistir is to attend, not to assist. Actualmente is currently, not actually. Embarazada is pregnant, not embarrassed. The fix is a personal false-friend list built from his own marked papers rather than a printed handout, plus the habit of reading the question first and locating the overlapping words in the passage before reading anything else closely.

Can a tutor help with the individual oral if my child freezes on the visual stimulus?+

Yes, and the method is a repeatable analytical frame rather than a memorised paragraph. The student learns to say what the image shows, where it appears to be set, who is in it and what they seem to be doing, which theme it connects to, and what they personally think about it. Five slots, rehearsed as structures that can hold any picture. Memorised sentences fall apart on the first follow-up question, and the follow-up is where the sustained interaction is judged. The oral is organised and conducted by the school, so the tutor's job is rehearsal, never involvement.

Will the tutor correct my son's draft before he submits work to school?+

A tutor may teach, explain, model and mark practice work, and may never write, redraft, edit or supply any part of something your son submits with his name on it. That line is not negotiable and it is in his interest, because a submission that is not his own work puts his Diploma at risk, not his tutor's reputation. What a tutor can legitimately do is teach the skill on a parallel practice task, mark that practice piece against the criteria, and let your son apply what he learned to his own work unaided.

Does online really work for a beginner, or is home tuition clearly better?+

Home tuition is better in DP1 and online is genuinely competitive by DP2. A beginner needs someone who can see hesitation, take the pen, and correct a written line in real time, and that is easier across a table. Once the student can produce structured writing, online handles listening practice, oral rehearsal and live annotation of a shared document perfectly well. Most of our Spanish families end up hybrid: one home session for writing and correction, one shorter online session for speaking and listening that survives examination weeks and travel.

Four weeks in and I see no progress. What should I do?+

Ask one question: can the tutor tell you, in writing and in plain language, which of the four skills is weakest and what the student's six recurring errors are? If yes, the work is happening and a grade has simply not caught up, which is normal in a beginner language at four weeks. If no, change tutor now rather than at the end of term. Tell us and we re-shortlist. You keep the diagnosis and the error list, so the replacement starts from where your child actually is rather than from a blank page.

Which variety of Spanish will a tutor in Bandra or Powai teach my child?+

The course draws on authentic material from across the Spanish-speaking world, which spans Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Chile and much of Central America and the Caribbean, and the assessment treats those varieties as equally valid Spanish. A tutor should expose a student to several accents in listening practice rather than only one, because the audio a candidate draws is not predictable. Differences in vocabulary and pronunciation are a feature of a world language, not a defect in any of them. Consistency within a single written piece is what the criteria care about.

If a tutor is stuck in Ghodbunder Road traffic for an evening slot, what happens?+

The tutor calls ahead, and you decide between a shortened session and a rescheduled one. This is exactly why we match Thane families with Thane tutors: Kasarvadavali to the station is twenty minutes off-peak and close to an hour in the evening peak, and a tutor who has to cross that stretch twice a week will eventually stop. Agree a standing make-up rule at the start, usually a weekend morning slot, so a cancellation does not turn into a negotiation. Repeated lateness is a matching problem, and we would rather re-shortlist than have you absorb it.

Find your Mumbai tutor

Send us the school, the Diploma Programme year, the month Spanish started and two evenings you can hold. A shortlist of two or three verified Spanish ab initio tutors comes back, you speak to them, and you choose one paid diagnostic session. A written diagnosis and a ten-session plan follow within the week. If the fit is wrong, say so in week two and we re-shortlist, and your child's error list goes with them.
