How IB Gram arranges IB DP Psychology home tuition in Mumbai

The students who need IB DP Psychology home tuition in Mumbai usually do not need the course re-taught. They need somebody to sit beside them while they write an answer badly, stop them halfway, and ask what the command term at the front of the question told them to do. That is a different hire from a subject explainer, and it is the hire we try to make. Before suggesting anyone we ask for the year group, the Higher Level (HL) or Standard Level (SL) decision, the options the school teaches, and, most usefully of all, a recent marked script with the teacher's comments still on it.

What follows is four steps and no sales call. 1. You send those details plus two or three weekly windows that will survive a real term in this city. 2. We shortlist tutors who have taught Psychology across a full International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) cycle, who live inside a travel radius they can actually sustain, and who are willing to mark against the published criteria rather than by instinct. 3. The tutor runs a paid first session in your home, working on the marked script you sent rather than on a topic. 4. You keep them or you tell us what was missing and a second shortlist follows.

The first session should feel slightly uncomfortable, and parents should be warned about that in advance. A tutor doing this properly will find the exact sentence where a student stopped answering the question and started writing what they remembered. Students who have been praised for knowing a lot of content find that moment unpleasant, and it is also the moment the tuition starts being worth paying for. If the first session ends with the student feeling flattered and nothing on paper has been rewritten, the tutor has been polite instead of useful.

Replacements are routine and nobody needs to be embarrassed about asking. A tutor who is excellent with a quiet DP1 student can be wrong for an argumentative DP2 student, and the mismatch is nobody's fault. Message us with the specific problem, not a general dissatisfaction, because specifics make the second shortlist better: too much talking, no written work set, arrives late, marks generously, cannot explain why a paragraph lost marks. There is no notice period and no fee for changing.

  • Send a recent marked script, not just a report grade
  • Shortlists built from tutors who mark to published criteria
  • First session works on the student's own script, not a fresh topic
  • Travel radius checked so the slot survives past November
  • Specific complaints produce better replacement shortlists than general ones

DP1, DP2 and the point where technique starts to matter more than content

Across the two years of the Diploma Programme, the thing that limits a Psychology grade changes. In the first half of DP1 it is content: the student does not yet know enough to write anything. Somewhere around the second term that flips, and for most students it never flips back. From then on the limiting factor is technique, meaning the ability to select, to structure, and to stop writing. Parents who book help late almost always booked it because a mock score came in low, and almost always discover the content was never the problem.

Higher Level and Standard Level differ in the number of components sat and in the depth of material covered, with Higher Level candidates taking an additional paper. The exact composition of each paper is set by the current subject guide and the IB updates its guides on its own schedule, so take the structure for your child's examination session from the school's DP coordinator or the current guide rather than from any page on the internet. What a family can plan around without any guide is the principle: more marks attached to a question means more development expected, and every paper rewards answering the actual instruction.

The core sits alongside all of this and competes for the same evenings. Theory of Knowledge (TOK) deadlines, the Extended Essay (EE) if the student has chosen one, and creativity, activity, service commitments all land in the same terms as the Psychology work. A good Psychology IB Diploma Programme (DP), Years 1-2 tutor Mumbai families book will ask about those other deadlines in the first conversation, because a tuition plan that ignores the EE submission window will be abandoned in the week it matters.

There is one more structural point worth knowing. Psychology attracts students who are strong readers and weak at being brief. The subject rewards precision and penalises padding, so the student who writes three pages of accurate material and answers a different question than the one asked will score below the student who writes a tight page on the right one. Home tuition is well suited to fixing this, because the tutor can make the student cut their own work in front of them, which nobody does voluntarily.

  • Content limits the grade in early DP1; technique limits it after that
  • Higher Level adds a further paper and further depth of material
  • Confirm the current component structure with your school's DP coordinator
  • Tuition planning has to account for TOK and Extended Essay deadlines
  • Precision scores; accurate padding on the wrong question does not

What do Papers 1, 2 and 3 actually ask a student to do?

Paper 1 asks the student to work with the approaches to behaviour, Paper 2 asks them to write at length on the options their school teaches, and Paper 3, sat by Higher Level candidates, asks them to think like a researcher about an unseen piece of work. Three different demands, three different kinds of practice, and a tutor who drills only essay writing has prepared the student for one of them.

The approaches, biological, cognitive and sociocultural, are not three topics to be learned in sequence. They are three explanations competing to account for the same behaviour, and the examination rewards a student who can hold them against each other. In practice this shows up in the short-answer work, where the precision demanded is unusual: a question asking for an outline wants something compact and complete, and a student who writes a paragraph of background before reaching the point has spent time they will need later in the paper. This is one of the easiest things to fix with weekly home tuition and one of the last things most students fix on their own.

Paper 2 depends completely on which options your school has selected, which is why we ask for the option list before matching rather than after. A tutor strong in one option is of little practical use for another. The extended answers here are where the judgement question bites hardest: a student who has listed what supports a claim and what undermines it has not yet evaluated anything. Evaluation means saying which way the evidence actually points and why, and then living with that position for the rest of the answer. Mumbai students coming from boards where balance is the marking virtue find this genuinely counterintuitive at first.

Research methodology runs through the whole course and is examined most directly at Higher Level, but methods questions turn up across the papers, which surprises families who have treated methodology as a Paper 3 topic. A student needs to be fluent in what each study type can support: an experiment and the variables it controls, a correlational design and the causal claim it cannot make, a case study and the limits of generalising from one person, an interview and the influence of the person asking. That same fluency underpins the experimental study internal assessment (IA), a separate school-supervised project with its own rules, which is why methods teaching pays twice.

  • Paper 1 works the biological, cognitive and sociocultural approaches
  • Paper 2 is tied to the specific options your school chose to teach
  • Higher Level Paper 3 examines research thinking on unseen material
  • Short answers reward compactness; background paragraphs waste paper time
  • Methods questions appear across papers, not only at Higher Level

Home tuition across the six zones of Mumbai, and what travel does to a timetable

Home tuition lives or dies on whether the tutor can repeat the journey forty times. In South Mumbai, where a large share of our Psychology requests originate, the distances are small and the clock is not: Malabar Hill, Walkeshwar, Breach Candy, Nepean Sea Road, Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Fort, Tardeo, Worli, Prabhadevi and Lower Parel are all within a few kilometres of each other, and an evening crossing through the Peddar Road and Haji Ali signals still eats forty minutes. The Coastal Road has changed the north-south run and Metro Line 3 is changing the Cuffe Parade to BKC trip, but we still match inside the island rather than bringing a tutor down the Bandra-Worli Sea Link at six in the evening.

The Central and Eastern Suburbs are the second cluster and the one with the most awkward geography. Powai and Chandivali hang off JVLR with no station of their own, reached by road from Andheri East, Kanjurmarg or Ghatkopar; Kurla and Ghatkopar sit on the Central Line and Metro Line 1; the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road is the connector everyone forgets until they need it. Further east, Chembur, Govandi, Vikhroli, Bhandup, Mulund West and Wadala are strung along the Central and Harbour lines and the Eastern Express Highway, with the Eastern Freeway making the run into town faster than any Chembur parent expects the first time. A Powai tutor covering Mulund is realistic; a Powai tutor covering Bandra twice a week is not.

The Western Suburbs run in a strip along the Western Line and the Western Express Highway: Bandra West, Khar West, Santacruz West, Vile Parle, Juhu, Andheri East, Jogeshwari, Goregaon East, Malad, Kandivali East, Borivali and Dahisar East. Metro Lines 2A and 7 have made the northern stretch predictable in a way Link Road never was, and matching along the line beats matching across it every time. Parents here often begin with the phrase IB tutors near me Mumbai throws back at them, which works for a common subject and rarely works for Psychology, where the specialist may be four stations away and worth the wait for a later slot.

Navi Mumbai and Thane are matched internally almost without exception. Navi Mumbai runs as nodes, Airoli, Vashi, Sanpada, Nerul, Seawoods, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel, linked by Palm Beach Road and the Sion-Panvel Highway, with the Harbour and Trans-Harbour lines and the Atal Setu connecting outward; a tutor crossing the creek for a weekday lesson gives up by the third month. Thane spreads from Thane West and Vartak Nagar out along Pokhran Road, Majiwada, Kolshet and Ghodbunder Road to Kasarvadavali, and that last stretch sets everything: twenty minutes at noon, close to an hour at eight. Psychology is taught in fewer schools across Mumbai, Maharashtra than the larger group 3 subjects, so in these two zones we are often choosing between a local generalist and a specialist who will only work online.

  • South Mumbai: Malabar Hill, Breach Candy, Colaba, Worli, Prabhadevi, Lower Parel
  • Central Suburbs: Powai, Chandivali, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Kanjurmarg off JVLR
  • Eastern Suburbs: Chembur, Govandi, Vikhroli, Bhandup, Mulund West, Wadala
  • Western Suburbs: Bandra West, Vile Parle, Jogeshwari, Malad, Kandivali East, Borivali
  • Navi Mumbai and Thane matched internally: Airoli to Panvel, Vartak Nagar to Kasarvadavali

Which months in the Mumbai school year decide your Psychology grade

The Mumbai IB calendar opens in late June and the pressure arrives in a pattern families can plan for. October and November of DP1 bring the first serious written assessments across all six subjects at once. The second half of DP1 brings the experimental study set-up alongside TOK work. January and February of DP2 bring the mocks, which is when most of our Psychology enquiries arrive and when the least time remains to use them well. Then the May session, or November for students on that cycle, and the year is over faster than the calendar suggests.

Families at B.D. Somani International School in Cuffe Parade, Cathedral and John Connon School in Fort, Bombay International School at Babulnath, Aditya Birla World Academy in Tardeo, Ryan Global School in Worli, JBCN International School in Parel, Ascend International School and the American School of Bombay in BKC, Utpal Shanghvi Global School in Juhu, Thakur International School in Kandivali East, Singapore International School in Dahisar East, NES International School in Mulund West and D.Y. Patil International School in Nerul are all working to that broad shape, with their own internal deadlines layered on top. IB Gram is an independent platform, not affiliated with any of these schools, with any examination board, or with the International Baccalaureate organisation. We name them because their calendars are the real constraint on when a tutor can be useful.

The practical consequence is that exam technique work has a season. Starting it in September of DP2 is sensible; starting it in March of DP2 means the student will practise under more pressure than they can learn from. We tell February callers the truth, which is that six or seven weeks can meaningfully change how a student handles a command term and will not rebuild two years of option content. Some families take that and book anyway, which is a reasonable decision made with open eyes, and some decide to wait and use the time on the subjects where the return is larger.

Monsoon deserves its own sentence because it quietly wrecks home tuition timetables. From June to September a heavy evening in Mumbai turns the Western Express Highway into a queue, floods the tracks around Sion and Kurla, and converts a 6.30pm home visit into a message at 6.15. Over a DP1 year that can mean five cancelled sessions, which in a technique-led plan is five essays not written and not marked. Build a fallback into the arrangement from the start: if the tutor cannot reach you, the session runs online on the same evening rather than being rescheduled into a week that has no space.

  • Mumbai IB year opens in late June; first real pressure in October and November
  • Experimental study set-up collides with TOK in the back half of DP1
  • January and February mocks generate most late enquiries
  • Technique work started in September of DP2 beats technique work started in March
  • Agree a monsoon fallback: same evening online, not a rescheduled week

Should Psychology home tuition in Mumbai be weekly, fortnightly or online?

Weekly is the default and it is the default for a reason: technique is a habit, and habits need a deadline every seven days. An IB home tutor in Mumbai coming once a week sets a written task, marks it, and makes the student rewrite the weakest paragraph in front of them. That rhythm is what produces change, and it is what most families picture when they ask for IB DP Psychology home tuition in Mumbai. Psychology home classes Mumbai families arrange usually settle at ninety minutes rather than sixty, because a timed written piece plus marking plus a rewrite does not compress into an hour, and a travelling tutor is not well used doing forty-five minutes of talking.

Fortnightly works for a specific kind of student and fails for everybody else. It works for a disciplined DP2 candidate who will write two full responses unsupervised between visits and genuinely wants the marking rather than the company. It fails for a student who needs the appointment to generate the work, which is most of them, and the failure shows up as a tutor arriving to find nothing written and an hour spent re-explaining instead of marking. Be honest with yourself about which student you have before choosing the cheaper option.

Online is a real alternative here, not a consolation prize, and the trade-offs are specific. An IB online tutor in Mumbai can be chosen for having taught your exact Paper 2 option rather than for living nearby, slots run later in the evening because nobody is driving home, and marking can happen between sessions. What is lost is the handwriting: the examinations are written by hand and a student who only types will discover the difference during the mock. The arrangement many of our DP2 families end up with is weekly in person with one online marking session a fortnight, or the reverse for a Kharghar or Kasarvadavali family where travel never really worked.

A note on who is in the room. Some families want an IB private tutor Mumbai parents hired directly and want them at the dining table where the work is visible; others find a teenager writes better without an adult hovering. Both are defensible. What is not defensible is paying a travelling tutor to supervise silent reading. If the student needs supervision rather than teaching, a study-hall arrangement is cheaper and a home tutor for Psychology Mumbai rates will not be justified by it.

  • Weekly beats fortnightly for any student who needs the deadline
  • Ninety minutes fits a timed piece, marking and a rewrite; sixty does not
  • Online buys option specialists and later slots, costs handwriting practice
  • Hybrid: in person weekly, one online marking session a fortnight
  • Do not pay a travelling tutor to supervise silent reading

How do you check that a Psychology tutor can actually mark to the scheme?

Ask them to mark one of your child's answers in front of you and justify every mark against the published criteria. That single request separates a genuine Psychology tutor in Mumbai from a confident graduate faster than any certificate, because the criteria are public, the reasoning has to be shown, and a tutor who marks by feel cannot do it twice the same way.

What we verify before anyone reaches a shortlist is identity, the qualification claimed, and the teaching history behind the claim of DP experience, checked with the references named rather than taken on trust. For this subject we also ask for marked work with the comments visible. Beyond that, an IB tutor Mumbai families have already used and renewed is a stronger signal than any new profile, and we say so plainly when a shortlist contains both.

There are four questions worth asking in the first fortnight, and they take ten minutes. Which Paper 2 options have you taught, and to which year groups. Show me how you would mark this paragraph. What do you do with a student who retells a study instead of using it. How much writing do you expect between sessions. A tutor who expects no writing has just described a conversation class. Also be wary of a tutor who offers a guaranteed grade: no honest teacher can promise a specific result, and anyone who promises one has told you how they handle uncertainty. IB Gram does not guarantee grades either, and no tutor on this platform is permitted to.

One boundary matters more in Psychology than anywhere else, and it should be said without softening. A DP Psychology tutor teaches an empirical academic science: research design, evidence, and writing under examination conditions. They are not a counsellor, not a therapist, and not qualified to advise on anyone's mental health, and nothing in the syllabus makes them so. If a student is distressed, about the course or about anything else, the school counsellor or a qualified professional is the right route and a tutor is not. A tutor's correct response is to say that clearly to the parent and keep teaching the subject.

  • Make the tutor mark a paragraph aloud against the published criteria
  • Identity, qualification and DP teaching history checked with named referees
  • Ask which Paper 2 options they have taught and to which year groups
  • Be wary of promises about a specific grade or a guaranteed improvement
  • Academic tutor, never a counsellor: distress goes to a qualified professional

What does a home tuition hour drill, paper by paper?

It drills seven things, and the first one is the command term. Every question in DP Psychology opens with an instruction, and that instruction, not the topic, decides the shape of the answer. Describe wants an account. Outline wants a summary. Explain wants reasons. Discuss wants a range considered. Evaluate wants a judgement. Contrast wants differences held side by side. To what extent wants a position with a degree attached to it. A student who reads the topic and ignores the verb writes a good answer to a question nobody asked, and the marks follow the question.

The second is evaluation that reaches a conclusion. Most Mumbai students arrive having been taught that balance is the virtue, so they produce a tidy column of strengths and a tidy column of limitations and stop. That is a list, not an evaluation. A tutor's job is to make the student finish the sentence: given all of that, which way does the evidence point, and how confident should we be. The third follows from it, and it is the single biggest marker of a strong script: using a study as evidence for a particular argument rather than retelling it. The retelling habit is deeply rooted, because retelling feels like knowledge, and the cure is mechanical. Take a study the student has written up at length and make them deploy the same study in two sentences for two different claims.

Fourth is the short-answer work, where the reward is precision and the enemy is throat-clearing. Students who write well at length often write badly short, opening with a sentence of context that the question did not ask for. Fifth is the research-methods thread. Methods questions appear across the papers and not only in the Higher Level paper, and they are answerable from principle rather than memory, which makes them the most improvable marks on the page for a student who has understood what each study type can and cannot show.

Sixth is writing to the mark allocation under real time pressure. The marks attached to a question are the examiner telling you how much to write; check the current paper and your school's guidance for what those allocations are, then practise against them with a clock on the table. Most students discover that they are generous with the cheap questions and rushed on the expensive ones, and that the fix is arithmetic rather than talent. Seventh, and the one students resist most, is the two-minute plan. Two minutes spent deciding the position and the order before the first sentence saves more marks than any amount of extra content, because an essay that changes its mind in the third paragraph cannot be rescued at the end.

All seven come together in the exercise that should happen regularly in IB DP Psychology home tuition in Mumbai: the student marks their own script. Not the tutor marking it and handing it back, which produces nodding; the student marking it against the real criteria with the tutor asking why each mark was awarded. It is slow and it is uncomfortable and it is the fastest route from knowing the content to scoring it, because a student who can mark can see their own writing the way the examiner will.

  • Command term decides the structure before the topic decides the content
  • Evaluation reaches a judgement; strengths and weaknesses lists do not
  • Same study deployed in two sentences for two different claims
  • Methods questions are answerable from principle, so they improve fastest
  • Two minutes planning, then the student marks their own script

Progress at four weeks, one term and one exam cycle in Mumbai

At four weeks, the honest measure is not a grade. It is whether the student now reads the command term first and can say what it is asking before writing anything, and whether their answers have stopped opening with a paragraph of context. Both are visible in the script within a month if the work between sessions is actually being done.

At one term the target is a complete timed response that takes a position and holds it, written without the tutor present, and the ability to look at a past question and say what it would cost to answer it well. By this point the student should also be able to cut their own work, which sounds minor and is the skill most closely associated with improved scripts. If a full term of weekly home tuition has produced no change in the writing, the arrangement is not working and that conversation should happen immediately rather than at the mock.

Across a full examination cycle the realistic aim is to close the distance between what the student knows and what reaches the page. For a student who already has the content, that distance is where most of the available marks sit. For a student who is also missing content, the plan has to be sequenced differently, content first and technique layered on, and the timeline is longer; pretending otherwise just produces a polished answer about nothing.

The limits are as important as the targets and we would rather set them now. IB Gram does not guarantee grades, and neither does any tutor working through the platform; too much depends on the student, the school, the session and the day itself. Weekly sessions with no writing in between will not move an essay subject whoever is teaching. A student beginning in March of DP2 can sharpen technique and cannot acquire two years of material. And if the obstacle is not academic, more tuition is the wrong response entirely; that belongs with the school counsellor or a qualified professional, not with a Psychology tutor.

  • Four weeks: command term read first, context paragraphs gone
  • One term: a timed response written alone that holds a position
  • One cycle: the gap between knowledge and script narrows
  • No writing between sessions means no movement in an essay subject
  • Non-academic obstacles belong with a qualified professional, not a tutor

Booking the first session: what to have ready

Three documents and one honest sentence. The most recent marked Psychology script, with the teacher's comments intact, because that is what the first session works on. The school's Paper 2 option list, which the student will know. The term calendar showing mock dates and internal deadlines. And one sentence from the parent about what they actually think is wrong, even if it is only a feeling, because parents are usually closer to right than they expect.

The first session runs in your home and is diagnostic. The tutor reads the script with the student, finds the point where the answer stopped serving the question, and sets one timed piece before leaving. There should be written work set at the end of the first visit without exception; a first session that ends with a plan and no task has not started yet. Expect the student to be fairly quiet afterwards, and expect the second session to be more useful than the first.

Practical arrangements are worth settling in the same conversation rather than discovering later. Where the student will work, which is ideally a table in a shared room rather than a bedroom. Whether your society needs a visitor entry arranged in advance. Whether the slot survives the monsoon or needs an online fallback. And whether you want the parent in the room, which is a decision with no universally right answer and is better made deliberately than by accident. Settle the payment rhythm in the same conversation too, monthly or per session, so that nobody is having a billing discussion in the middle of mock fortnight when attention is needed elsewhere.

  • Have the latest marked script, the option list and the term calendar ready
  • First visit is diagnostic and must end with a timed task set
  • Agree the work table, ideally in a shared room rather than a bedroom
  • Sort society visitor entry before the first weekday evening slot
  • Decide deliberately whether a parent sits in, rather than by default
FAQs

Mumbai tutoring — questions parents ask

How long should a home tuition session be for DP Psychology?+

Ninety minutes suits this subject better than sixty. A useful session contains a timed written piece, marking of that piece against the criteria, and a rewrite of the weakest paragraph, and that sequence does not fit into an hour once the tutor has arrived and settled. Sixty minutes works for a short diagnostic check-in or for a student who is writing a great deal independently and only needs marking. For most students taking IB DP Psychology home tuition in Mumbai we suggest one ninety minute session a week rather than two short ones, which also makes the journey worth the tutor's time.

Will a tutor travel to Chembur or Wadala for a weekday evening slot?+

Yes, and the Eastern Suburbs are among the easier zones to staff for evening work. Tutors living in Chembur, Govandi, Vikhroli or Mulund West move along the Central and Harbour lines and the Eastern Express Highway without much trouble, and the Eastern Freeway makes a Wadala or Chembur address reachable from the island city faster than most people assume. What we avoid is booking a Western Suburbs tutor into a 7pm Chembur slot; that journey looks fine on a map in August and collapses in October.

What does our society gate need from a tutor who visits every week?+

Usually a standing entry rather than a fresh approval each time, and arranging it in advance saves ten minutes a week for a year. Most Mumbai complexes will register a regular visitor once the resident confirms it, either in the gate register or through the society's visitor app, and some ask for an identity document on the first visit. Tell us if your building needs anything specific, because a tutor who is stopped at the gate every Tuesday eventually stops being punctual. Tutors carry identification and are told to expect the check.

Do IB tuition fees in Mumbai change for Higher Level Psychology?+

Generally yes, and we would rather explain the drivers than pretend a single rate exists. Fees respond to board and level, because Higher Level Diploma Programme work needs a more experienced tutor; to subject scarcity, which places Psychology above the widely taught subjects in most quotes here; to session length, since ninety minutes of marked writing is not simply an hour and a half; to travel distance, which is why identical lessons cost differently in Colaba and Kharghar; and to whether marking between sessions is included, which in this subject is the part actually worth paying for.

My daughter knows everything and still loses marks. Why?+

Almost always because she is answering the topic rather than the instruction. A question that says evaluate is asking for a judgement, and an answer that supplies a well-organised account of everything known about the topic will not collect those marks however accurate it is. The second most common cause is retelling studies at length instead of using them as evidence for a claim. Both are technique problems, both respond quickly to weekly marked practice, and neither is fixed by more revision, which is usually what a conscientious student does instead.

What is the real difference between describe, explain and evaluate?+

They demand three different things and misreading them is the commonest avoidable loss in the subject. Describe asks for an account of what something is, with no reasons required. Explain asks why, so the answer must contain causal reasoning rather than more detail. Evaluate asks for a judgement supported by evidence, which means weighing material and then committing to a position. A student who writes a strong description in response to an evaluate question has written something a teacher would praise and an examiner cannot reward. Practising the same content against all three verbs fixes it fast.

Should exam practice start in DP1 or wait until DP2?+

Start in DP1, in small pieces, from the second term. Waiting until DP2 means learning technique while also carrying the internal assessment, TOK and the other five subjects, which is the worst possible moment to acquire a new habit. The DP1 version does not need full papers: one short timed answer a fortnight, marked properly, is enough to build the reflex of reading the command term first. By DP2 that student is practising full responses rather than discovering what the instructions mean.

Can a tutor mark my son's paper using the real mark scheme?+

Yes, and they should, using the published assessment criteria for the component rather than a personal impression. The more valuable exercise, though, is the reverse: the student marks their own script against those criteria while the tutor asks why each decision was made. Students who can mark start to see their writing from the examiner's side, which is the point at which scripts improve without being told. Your school can supply the current criteria, and a tutor who has not asked for them within the first fortnight is not doing this properly.

What if my son refuses to plan before he writes?+

Make the plan the only thing he submits for two weeks. Most students resist planning because it feels like time lost from writing, and the resistance disappears once they see a marked plan score better than a marked essay that wandered. A two minute plan that fixes the position and the order of the argument prevents the commonest structural failure in DP Psychology, which is an answer that quietly changes its mind halfway through. Setting plans alone, without the essay attached, removes the perceived cost and builds the habit in a fortnight.

The school already gives feedback. What does a tutor add?+

Volume and repetition, mostly. A DP teacher with a full timetable cannot mark several drafts per student per term, so school feedback tends to arrive on finished work at intervals. Technique changes through frequent marking of short pieces, which is exactly the thing a timetable cannot provide and a weekly session can. A tutor should work with the school's feedback rather than around it, which is why we ask for the marked script: if the teacher has already identified the problem, the tuition should be drilling that, not starting a parallel diagnosis.

What happens if the tutor and my child simply do not get along?+

Tell us in week two rather than in February. Personality mismatch is common, costs nothing to fix early, and costs a term if endured. Send the specific problem rather than a general impression, because precision improves the second shortlist: talks too much, sets no written work, marks too kindly, cannot explain a lost mark. We send a replacement shortlist, there is no notice period and no penalty, and the only genuine cost is the couple of weeks a new tutor needs to learn how your child writes.
