IB DP Internal Assessment (IA) Home Tutor in Mumbai

An IB DP internal assessment home tutor in Mumbai earns their place by teaching skills, not by touching the task. Home tuition for IA work means technique taught on a parallel example, questions asked about a draft, and marking against the published criteria. The tutor does not write, redraft or supply data for any part of it. Your child does, and can explain it.

Technique is taught on a parallel example, never on the student's own task
Drafts are questioned and marked against criteria, never rewritten
Every session ends with the student explaining her own decisions aloud
No tutor is given editing access to a student's IA document

Matching an IB DP internal assessment home tutor in Mumbai

The matching question we care about most is not which university a tutor attended. It is whether they can teach a skill without demonstrating it on the student's own coursework. Those are different abilities and the second one is rarer. Plenty of capable graduates, asked to help with a data-processing section, will reach for the student's spreadsheet because that is the fastest route to a visible improvement. A tutor who is right for IA work builds a second dataset, works it through on paper with the student watching, and then hands the student's own file back untouched. We test for that specifically in the subject conversation before anyone is shortlisted.

So the brief we collect from a family is shaped around skills rather than deliverables. Which part of the task has stalled: framing, method, processing, evaluation, referencing, or the writing itself. What has the subject teacher actually said, in her own words. Whether the student can currently explain her own research question without reading it off a screen. Whether anything has already been submitted. We also ask the awkward question directly, because it saves a wasted month: is the family asking for the work to be taught or for the work to be done. Only the first is a job here.

Geography comes after that, not before it. An IB DP internal assessment home tutor in Mumbai has to hold a weekly slot through a drafting cycle that runs for months, so we filter by corridor and by realistic evening travel rather than by straight-line distance. A Chemistry specialist in Ghatkopar is a genuine match for Vikhroli and Kanjurmarg and a poor one for Borivali, whatever the map says at eleven in the morning.

What you receive is a short shortlist with reasoning attached, followed by a paid diagnostic session. The session is not a sales call and it does not produce any part of the IA. It produces a written skills plan: what will be taught, in what order, against which criteria, and what the student will be able to do unaided by a named date.

  • 1. Name the skill that has stalled, not the section that is unfinished
  • 2. Read the subject teacher's actual written feedback before matching
  • 3. Check whether the family wants work taught or work produced
  • 4. Filter tutors on parallel-example teaching, then on corridor and evening travel
  • 5. Shortlist two or three profiles, each with a stated reason
  • 6. Run a diagnostic session that ends in a dated skills plan

Teaching the skill, not the task: how legitimate IA support works

The Internal Assessment (IA) sits inside the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) as work the student carries out under her own subject teacher's supervision. That teacher is appointed by the school, gives the formal feedback, and assigns the mark. A home tutor is an additional teacher of skills and nothing else. A home tutor never replaces the subject teacher, never gives competing formal feedback, and never contacts the school. Families sometimes expect the opposite, and it is better to say it in the first conversation than to discover it in the fourth week.

Legitimate support has four moves and they are easy to describe. The first is the parallel example. If the student cannot calculate and present uncertainty, the tutor builds a small unrelated dataset and works it through with her, step by visible step, then watches while she does the same to her own numbers herself. If she cannot evaluate a source, the tutor brings two sources on a different topic and they pull them apart together. The student's own task is never the teaching material.

The second move is questioning rather than correcting. Faced with a weak paragraph, a tutor who rewrites it has taught nothing and has put the student's declaration at risk. A tutor who asks what this sentence is claiming, where the evidence for it is, and which criterion it is meant to satisfy has handed the student a tool she can use on the next twelve paragraphs without help. The third move is marking: reading the draft against the published criteria, naming the band it currently sits in, and explaining in plain language what the next band up would require. The fourth is verification, covered further down this page, where the student has to explain each decision aloud.

What a home tutor will not do needs stating without hedging, and we state it to the tutor and to the family in the same words. A tutor may teach a technique, demonstrate it on a parallel example, ask questions about a draft, mark that draft against the published criteria and explain the band. A tutor may never write, redraft, research for, supply data for, or produce any part of an Internal Assessment. The student signs the work as her own. Any AI use is declared under the school's own rules. IB Gram will not accept work framed as producing or fixing a submission, and an IB home tutor in Mumbai who offers to do so is removed from the platform.

  • Parallel example: the technique is taught on data that is not the student's
  • Questioning: ask what a paragraph claims and which criterion it serves
  • Marking: name the band and what the next band would need
  • Verification: the student explains every decision in her own words
  • A tutor never replaces the school-appointed subject teacher
  • Never written, redrafted, researched or supplied: any part of the IA

The parallel-example method, subject by subject

In Biology and Chemistry the commonest stall is processing. A student has a table of repeats and no idea what to do with the spread. The parallel-example route is to take an unrelated measurement set, perhaps something counted at home, and work through means, spread and propagation on it until the student can do it without prompting. Then she opens her own file and the tutor sits back. The same applies to evaluation. Students write that results were affected by human error because nobody has shown them what a specific, method-linked limitation looks like, so a tutor demonstrates three on a different experiment and asks her to find two in her own.

In Mathematics the exploration fails when a student borrows mathematics she cannot explain. A tutor working properly teaches the underlying method on a neighbouring problem, then asks the student to narrate her own working line by line. If she cannot narrate it, it does not belong in her exploration, whatever it does for the appearance of the piece. That rule alone saves more explorations than any amount of proofreading.

In Business Management, Economics, Psychology and History the stall is almost always method and source evaluation rather than content. The parallel-example approach here is a short, disposable mini-investigation on a topic nobody is being marked on: pick a question, state a method, find two sources, write fifty words on what is wrong with each. Twenty minutes of that teaches more than an hour spent staring at the real draft. Language A and Visual Arts work the same way, with the tutor analysing a text or an artwork the student has not chosen so the student can then do her own.

Across all of it, Internal Assessment (IA) home classes Mumbai families book for a DP2 student should feel repetitive in a useful way: see the technique on something else, do the technique on your own thing, explain what you did. Weightings, word guidance and component structure differ by subject and change between subject guide cycles, so get those from your school's DP coordinator or the current guide rather than from a tutor's memory or a page like this one. Nobody should be planning a submission around a figure quoted second-hand.

  • Sciences: processing and specific, method-linked limitations taught off-task
  • Maths: the student narrates her own working or it does not go in
  • Humanities: a twenty-minute disposable investigation teaches method fast
  • Language A and Visual Arts: analyse a text or work the student did not choose
  • The loop is always see it, do it, explain it
  • Get component structure from the DP coordinator, not from a tutor's memory

Which Mumbai zones a home tutor can realistically reach

Skills teaching needs continuity more than most tutoring does, because the loop of see it, do it, explain it breaks if a fortnight goes missing. So an IB DP internal assessment home tutor in Mumbai is matched on whether the slot survives October, not on whether it works in June. The Central Suburbs are the easiest zone to serve well: Ghatkopar, Kurla, Kanjurmarg, Chandivali and Powai sit around the Central Line, the Eastern Express Highway and JVLR, and the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road pulls Chembur into the same pool. Powai has no station of its own, which surprises families who move there, so tutors arrive by road from Andheri East, Kanjurmarg or Ghatkopar and the 7pm JVLR queue is the thing that decides the slot.

The Eastern Suburbs run from Govandi and Chembur through Vikhroli and Bhandup to Mulund West on the Central and Harbour lines, with the Monorail useful between Chembur and Wadala off-peak and the Eastern Freeway making Parel and Fort far closer than they look. A tutor living in Mulund West can serve Bhandup and Vikhroli comfortably and will struggle to hold anything south of Wadala on a weekday. In the Western Suburbs the rule is to match along the Western Line and not across the Western Express Highway: Andheri East to Goregaon East to Oshiwara works, Malad to Kandivali East to Borivali to Dahisar East works, and Metro Lines 2A and 7 have made several of those pairings survivable at 6pm that were not before. Link Road is the fallback when the highway stops.

In South Mumbai, Maharashtra's heaviest concentration of IB schools, we match inside the island because the distances are short and the signals are not. Worli to Peddar Road to Babulnath to Fort is eight or nine kilometres and forty minutes in the evening peak, and the Coastal Road helps the north-south run without touching the Haji Ali junction. Metro Line 3 between Cuffe Parade and BKC has quietly made BKC-based tutors workable for a Parel or Worli evening slot.

Navi Mumbai is matched node to node across Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel using Palm Beach Road and the Sion-Panvel Highway, with the Harbour and Trans-Harbour lines and the Belapur to Pendhar metro. The Atal Setu has shortened the island-city crossing without making a weekday evening commute sustainable for a whole term. Thane is governed by Ghodbunder Road: a tutor near the station reaches Kasarvadavali in twenty minutes off-peak and close to an hour at 7.30pm, so we match within Pokhran Road, Majiwada and the Ghodbunder belt, with Mulund tutors crossing for scarce subjects.

  • Central Suburbs: Ghatkopar, Kurla, Kanjurmarg, Chandivali and Powai via JVLR
  • Eastern Suburbs: Govandi to Mulund West, with the Eastern Freeway southbound
  • Western Suburbs: matched along the line, Andheri East up to Dahisar East
  • South Mumbai: matched inside the island; Metro Line 3 adds BKC tutors
  • Navi Mumbai: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel, node to node
  • Thane: the Ghodbunder Road return journey decides whether 7.30pm works

What does a Mumbai school expect from an IA draft?

A Mumbai IB school typically expects one formal draft, submitted by an internal deadline months ahead of anything the IB publishes, on which the subject teacher gives written feedback once. That single round is the pressure point most families misread. Parents assume feedback is iterative and that a tutor can fill the gaps between rounds. In practice the school's rules usually allow one documented set of comments, after which the student revises alone, and a tutor's work has to be done before that draft goes in rather than after.

Which is why the record of drafts matters so much. Keep every version your child produces, dated, in her own drive. A trail that shows a rough first attempt, then a messier middle, then something coherent is the single most useful thing a student can have if anyone later asks whether the work is hers. A document that appears fully formed three days before submission invites exactly the question nobody wants. Schools across the city, from NES International School in Mulund West to JBCN International School, Chembur, Thakur International School in Kandivali East, Bombay Cambridge International School in Andheri East and Aditya Birla World Academy in Tardeo, run different calendars and the same basic expectation: show the process.

The calendar pressure clusters in two windows. The closing term of DP1, when proposals and first data are wanted across several subjects at once, and the opening term of DP2, when drafts land near the Extended Essay (EE) and the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) essay. A DP2 student at Singapore International School in Dahisar East or Witty International School in Malad can have two science IAs and a TOK draft inside the same three weeks, with a break in the middle that she had mentally written off as free. Home tuition in that window is sequencing work as much as subject work.

Naming a school here is local context and nothing further. IB Gram is an independent platform, not affiliated with any school named on this page, nor with Podar International School, nor with the International Baccalaureate organisation. We cannot guarantee grades, because the mark is set by the school's subject teacher and then moderated externally, and neither of those people answers to a tutor. What a home tutor changes is whether the student walks into that single feedback round with something she understands.

  • Expect one formal draft and one documented round of teacher feedback
  • The school's internal deadline, not the IB's, is the date that binds
  • Keep every dated version of the draft in the student's own drive
  • A document that appears fully formed overnight invites questions
  • Pressure windows: late DP1 for proposals, early DP2 for drafts plus EE and TOK
  • IB Gram is independent of every school named and cannot guarantee grades

Is home tuition better than online for IA skills work?

For skills teaching, home tuition has one decisive advantage: the tutor can see what the student actually does rather than what she says she does. Asked online whether she recorded her raw readings, a student says yes. An IB DP internal assessment home tutor in Mumbai sitting at the same table asks to see the notebook, and the conversation that follows is the useful one. Home classes also make the parallel-example method easier, because working something through on paper in front of someone, then sliding the pen across, is awkward over a screen share and natural in a room.

The costs are real and we would rather list them than pretend. Travel time is paid time whether or not anyone itemises it, so an IB home tuition in Mumbai arrangement in a far node costs more per hour of teaching than the same tutor does nearer home. Scarcity bites harder too. The pool of tutors who can mark a Visual Arts comparative study against criteria and reach Panvel on a Tuesday evening is small, and insisting on both may mean accepting a weekend slot or a tutor with less IA-specific experience.

An IB online tutor in Mumbai removes the geography problem entirely and keeps most of the method. Screen sharing works well for criteria marking, and a student can genuinely benefit from re-watching an explanation of a band descriptor. What it loses is the lab notebook, the overwritten spreadsheet and the folder of sources nobody opened, all of which a tutor in the room finds in the first ten minutes. For a student who is organised and stuck on one technique, online is fine. For a student whose problem is that nothing is where she thinks it is, it is not.

Hybrid is where most families land and we suggest it openly rather than selling the more expensive format. Home classes for the weeks when a technique is being taught and a draft is being marked, online for the short checks in between. One tutor, two formats, continuous relationship. The boundary is identical in both: nothing is typed into the student's document by anyone except the student, no tutor is given editing access to the file, and no part of the Internal Assessment is written, redrafted, researched or supplied by the tutor in any format.

  • Home tuition shows what the student does, not what she reports doing
  • The parallel-example method is easier in a room than on a screen
  • Home tutor trade-offs: travel is priced in and scarce subjects limit slots
  • Online reaches rare specialists and supports criteria marking well
  • Hybrid: home classes for technique weeks, online for short checks
  • No editing access to the student's file, in any format, ever

What a tutor is checked for, and what they sign up to

Verification begins with identity and qualifications and then moves to the part that actually predicts IA outcomes. We ask the tutor to teach us something on a parallel example, cold. We ask how they would respond to a student who sends a draft at eleven at night asking for it to be tidied before a 9am deadline. We ask them to read a criterion strand aloud and explain the difference between two adjacent bands in language a sixteen-year-old would follow. Any tutor whose answer to the second question involves editing the document is not matched to anyone on this platform, regardless of how strong the first and third answers were.

Every tutor accepts the boundary in writing before a first session, and the wording is the same one used with families. Teach the technique on a parallel example. Question the draft. Mark against the published criteria and explain the band. Check the student can defend each decision unaided. Do not write, redraft, research for, supply data for, or produce any part of an Internal Assessment. Do not take editing access to the student's document. Do not contact the school, and do not present yourself as a substitute for the subject teacher the school appointed.

Your own checks are more valuable than ours because you see the work. In the first session, ask the tutor what they will refuse to do and listen to how readily the answer comes. Ask to see the parallel example they used rather than the student's draft. Ask for the skills plan in writing. Parents weighing an IB private tutor Mumbai agencies supply against a platform match should run the same three checks either way, and should ask what happens to the shortlist if the first tutor does not suit.

Then watch the draft itself over the first month, because that is where problems show. Be wary of a tutor who promises a specific grade, who asks for the file to look at offline, or who suggests tidying a section before submission. The clearest signal of all is unexplainable fluency: if a sentence appears that your child cannot paraphrase, something has gone wrong and the moment to raise it is before submission, not after. A home tutor for Internal Assessment (IA) Mumbai parents can trust is one who makes the student talk, not one who makes the document shine.

  • Tutors are asked to teach cold on a parallel example during screening
  • The late-night tidy-up request is a deliberate screening question
  • The boundary is accepted in writing before the first paid session
  • Ask your tutor in session one what they will refuse to do
  • Be wary of a tutor who promises a specific grade or wants the file offline
  • Unexplainable fluency in a draft is the signal to act on immediately

Why must a Mumbai DP student explain every decision in her own words?

Because the ability to explain her own work is simultaneously the thing the criteria reward, the thing the subject teacher will test, and the best protection available if anyone ever questions whether the work is hers. One habit covers all three, which makes it the highest-value thing a home tutor can build. So we ask tutors to end every session the same way: the student closes the laptop and talks for five minutes about what she decided and why, with no notes. Not a summary of the content. The decisions. Why this variable, why five repeats, why this source, why this structure.

The first few times, students cannot do it, and the gap is the whole diagnosis. A student who has genuinely designed her own investigation may struggle to articulate it but will get there with prompting. A student who has assembled something from borrowed parts stops dead, and she stops at exactly the parts that were borrowed. A tutor who runs this check weekly knows which sections of a draft are sound long before a teacher does, and can rebuild the weak ones through teaching rather than through editing.

This also changes how a draft gets improved. The standard instinct is to mark up a document with comments and corrections, which produces a better document and no better student. The alternative is slower and holds: the tutor names the band and the criterion, the student says out loud what she thinks is missing, she goes away and revises it herself, and the next session starts with her explaining what she changed. Three rounds of that beats one round of heavy annotation, and it leaves a record of her own revisions behind it.

That record is worth building deliberately. Dated versions in her own drive, her own notes from each session, the parallel examples the tutor used kept separate from her own work. If an authenticity question ever arises, the answer is not a protest. It is a trail of drafts plus a student who can talk about her work for ten minutes unprompted. An IB DP internal assessment home tutor in Mumbai who works this way is also, incidentally, the only kind worth paying for, because a student who can explain her own reasoning has learnt something transferable and one who had her sentences fixed has not.

  • Every session ends with five unprompted minutes on decisions, not content
  • Where she stops dead is where the work is not hers yet
  • Name the band and the criterion; let her find the fix herself
  • Three rounds of student revision beat one round of tutor annotation
  • Keep dated versions and session notes in the student's own drive
  • Parallel examples stay in a separate file from the student's own work

Drafts, records and the things we will not do

At four weeks of weekly home tuition, the honest measure of progress is not how much of the IA exists. It is whether the student can name the criteria her subject is marked against, say which one she is weakest on, and demonstrate one technique she could not do a month ago. If she cannot do all three, the match is wrong and the fortnight to say so is now rather than in March. At one term, there should be a draft she wrote, marked against criteria by the tutor with a band and a reason, revised by her afterwards, with the earlier versions still saved. At one exam cycle, the IA is submitted, the school's dates were met, and she is not carrying it into the written papers in April.

The limits are as important as the milestones. We cannot guarantee grades. The mark is assigned by the school's subject teacher and moderated externally by the IB, and a tutor has no standing with either. A tutor cannot manufacture a term that was never used, cannot make an under-powered dataset convincing, and cannot stand between a student and an academic honesty process. Anyone claiming otherwise is selling something that is not tutoring.

So, plainly and for the third time on this page, here is the boundary. A tutor on this platform may teach a technique, demonstrate it on a parallel example, ask questions about a draft, mark that draft against the published criteria, explain the band, and check that the student can defend every decision in her own words. A tutor may never write, redraft, research for, supply data for, or produce any part of an Internal Assessment. The student signs it as her own work. Any AI use is declared under the school's rules. The subject teacher is appointed by the school and is never replaced or contacted by a tutor.

IB Gram will not take on an enquiry framed as producing or fixing a submission. We turn those away rather than route them to a tutor who might bend, and we would rather lose the enquiry than put a student in front of a coordinator explaining a paragraph she did not write. If that is a disappointing answer, the useful version of it is this: a tutor brought in early enough can usually teach what is missing, and a tutor brought in three days out usually cannot, which is an argument about timing rather than about ethics.

  • Four weeks: she names the criteria and demonstrates one new technique
  • One term: her own draft, marked and revised, with earlier versions saved
  • One exam cycle: submitted on the school's dates, not hanging over April
  • We cannot guarantee grades; the school marks and the IB moderates
  • No part of an IA is ever written, redrafted or supplied by a tutor
  • Enquiries framed as producing or fixing a submission are refused

Booking IA home classes in Mumbai: what to prepare

Prepare four things and the first session pays for itself. The published criteria for the subject, from the school or the current guide. The subject teacher's last written feedback, in full, including the parts that sting. Whatever the student has produced so far, in whatever state. And the school's internal deadline for the formal draft, which is the date the plan will be built backwards from. If you have dated earlier versions, bring those too; they tell a tutor more about how the student works than any conversation will.

The first session is a diagnostic and it runs on the student talking. She explains her question, her method and her reasoning without notes, and the tutor stops her where she cannot. Nothing is written into her document. The tutor may well teach one small technique on a parallel example in the second half, just to show how the sessions will run. You leave with a dated skills plan naming what will be taught, in what order, and what she will be able to do unaided by when.

What IB tuition fees in Mumbai depend on is worth being direct about, since nobody else is. Five things: the level and board, how scarce the subject specialist is, how far the tutor travels and at what hour, how long each session runs, and whether this is weekly across a term or compressed into a fortnight. The compressed version costs more and achieves less, because skills take repetition. We do not publish a figure because the honest number for Visual Arts in Kharghar and for Economics in Bandra is not the same number, and a single range would mislead both families. A request logged as Internal Assessment (IA) IB Diploma Programme (DP), Years 1-2 tutor Mumbai gives us the year group and nothing about cost.

If the tutor is not working out, tell us within the first fortnight and nobody will ask you to build a case. We keep the original shortlist precisely for this, so a replacement reads the skills plan, the dated drafts and the marking already done and picks up rather than restarts. Parents typing IB tutors near me Mumbai are optimising for distance, which matters on a Tuesday evening and matters less than continuity across a drafting cycle. Ask yourself which tutor will still be holding the slot in February, and match for that one. Choosing the best IB tutor in Mumbai for your child is really a question about who can teach without doing, and you can test that in one session.

  • Bring the published criteria and the teacher's last written feedback
  • Bring every dated draft version, however rough
  • Bring the school's internal draft deadline to plan backwards from
  • First session: she explains, the tutor listens and finds the gap
  • Fees depend on level, scarcity, travel, session length and duration
  • Replacement inside a fortnight, reading the existing plan and drafts
FAQs

Mumbai tutoring — questions parents ask

Can the home tutor polish my son's final draft before he submits it?+

No. Here is exactly what the tutor will do instead: read the draft against the published criteria, tell him which band each section currently sits in and why, ask him what he thinks is missing, teach any technique he lacks on a separate example, and then leave him to revise it himself. Here is what will not happen: no sentence is rewritten, no section is restructured by the tutor, no data is supplied, and no editing access to the file is given. He signs the work as his own. If there is genuinely no time left to teach, a tutor will say so rather than fill the gap.

Will a tutor come to our flat in Chembur on a weekday evening?+

Usually yes, because Chembur sits well for the Central and Eastern Suburbs pool. A tutor based in Ghatkopar, Kurla or Vikhroli can hold a 6.30pm or 7.30pm slot and keep it through a drafting cycle, and the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road opens up Powai and Chandivali tutors for the same window. We check the return journey before confirming, not just the outbound one. A tutor who reaches you at 7pm but faces an hour home at 9pm starts cancelling by week six, which is worse for skills work than a slightly later start time would have been.

Do we need to arrange building access or parking for the tutor?+

Register a repeat weekly visitor entry with your society in week one, ideally for a named tutor on a fixed day and time. Many Mumbai complexes now handle this through their own app, and the registration takes a resident two minutes. Without it, a tutor spends fifteen minutes of a sixty-minute session at the gate while the guard calls your flat. Parking is worth checking separately in the Ghodbunder Road belt, in Kharghar and in older South Mumbai buildings where visitor bays are limited. We tell tutors to plan to arrive ten minutes early for the first three sessions.

What does the home study space need for IA sessions?+

A table that takes a laptop, printed criteria and a notebook side by side, a plug point, and a door that closes. A desk facing a wall beats a dining table with a television in earshot. For science IAs keep the lab notebook and the original raw readings in the room, because a good part of an early session is the tutor asking to see the untouched numbers and discovering they were overwritten. Keep the parallel-example worksheets in a separate folder from the student's own work so the two never get confused later.

How is this different from the help the subject teacher gives?+

The subject teacher is appointed by the school, supervises the task, gives the one round of formal written feedback the school's rules allow, and assigns the mark that the IB then moderates. A home tutor sits outside all of that. The tutor teaches the technique the student is missing, on examples that are not her coursework, and checks she can defend her own decisions. A tutor never contacts the school, never negotiates about feedback, and never positions themselves as a second supervisor. The two roles do not overlap, and a tutor who implies otherwise has misunderstood the job.

What if my daughter cannot explain part of her own draft?+

Treat it as the most useful information you will get all term. A student who struggles to articulate her own design will get there with prompting; a student who stops dead at a specific paragraph is usually telling you that paragraph came from somewhere else. The tutor's response is to teach that section's underlying skill properly and have her rebuild it herself, not to smooth it over. Do this now rather than after submission, because an unexplainable section discovered by a teacher in a conversation about the work is a far harder problem than one found in a tutoring session.

Can a tutor teach a technique without seeing her actual IA at all?+

Largely, yes, and for the teaching part that is the preferred arrangement. A tutor needs to know which skill has stalled and which criterion is weak, which the student can report and the teacher's feedback usually confirms. The technique itself is then taught on a parallel example. The draft is read only for marking against the criteria, and it is read, not edited. Some tutors ask the student to share the draft on screen during a session and keep no copy, which works well. No tutor on this platform receives editing access to the document.

Is online enough, or do we need home classes for IA skills?+

Online is enough when the student is organised and stuck on a single technique, because criteria marking and worked explanations transfer well to a screen. Home classes matter when the problem is not one technique but the state of everything around it: the lab notebook with gaps, the sources folder nobody opened, the spreadsheet where the raw data was overwritten. A tutor in the room finds those in ten minutes. Most families run hybrid with one tutor, home for technique and marking weeks, online for the short checks in between.

Do you cover Thane and Navi Mumbai for weekly IA sessions?+

Yes, matched within the node rather than across the city. In Thane we work inside Pokhran Road, Majiwada and the Ghodbunder Road corridor, because a tutor crossing from the station to Kasarvadavali at 7.30pm loses most of an hour. In Navi Mumbai we match within Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel using Palm Beach Road and the Sion-Panvel Highway. The Atal Setu has shortened the island crossing without making it sustainable weekly for a full term. For a scarce subject in either, online weekly plus a fortnightly in-person session holds better.

How many sessions does a student usually need for one IA?+

It depends entirely on which skills are missing, which is why the first session produces a plan rather than a package. A student who only needs data processing and evaluation taught may need four or five sessions spread across six weeks, with gaps for her to do the work. A student who has not settled a research question needs more, and needs them earlier. Compressing the same number of sessions into a fortnight before a deadline achieves less, because skills need repetition and a student has to go away and practise between them.

Is a tutor allowed to help with referencing and formatting?+

A tutor can teach the referencing system the school requires, show how to cite three sources of different kinds on examples that are not the student's, and point out that a particular entry in her own list does not match the format. A tutor cannot build the bibliography, insert the citations, or reformat the document. The distinction is the same one that runs through everything else: teach the rule, let the student apply it. If the formatting is genuinely the only thing between a draft and submission, the student can fix it in an hour once she knows the rule.

What happens if we are not satisfied after a month?+

Tell us inside the first fortnight if you can, and you will not be asked to justify it. We take the written skills plan from the first session, ask the student directly what was not landing, and replace from the shortlist we kept. The replacement reads the plan, the dated drafts and the marking already done, so nobody starts over. If the issue is the format rather than the person, we switch the same tutor between home classes and online instead of changing tutors, which is usually the less disruptive fix mid-cycle.

Find your Mumbai tutor

Send the subject, which IA it is, the school's internal draft deadline and your area. You will get two or three profiles with reasons attached, then a paid diagnostic session at home or online that ends in a dated skills plan. The tutor teaches technique on parallel examples and marks against the criteria. Your child writes every word of the IA herself. If what you want is the work produced rather than taught, we will tell you no.
