IB DP French B Home Tuition in Mumbai

IB DP French B home tuition in Mumbai works best when it is built around the assessments themselves: the reading and listening paper, the written task, and the individual oral. This page is about exam technique, component by component, and about what a French B home tutor should actually be doing with your child across DP1 and DP2.

Tutors work from the current IB subject guide, not from old papers alone
Every session ends with the student self-marking one piece against the criteria
Tutors teach and mark drafts, never write any part of a submission
Matched inside your Mumbai corridor so a weekly evening slot actually holds

How IB Gram turns a French B home tuition request in Mumbai into a shortlist

A French B request is never generic. The parent who writes in usually has something specific on the table: a Paper 2 mock where the reading answers sounded plausible but were not actually drawn from the passage, a listening section that ran out before the last items were attempted, or a written task that was warm and fluent and still scored poorly because a letter had been written as an essay. International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) French B rewards doing the right thing with the text in front of you. That is a trainable habit rather than a gift, so the first thing we ask for is evidence rather than a wish list.

Evidence means the last marked script, the teacher's written comments, and the student's own account of where the minutes went. Those three things narrow a shortlist faster than any questionnaire. A student whose comprehension collapses only on the longer text needs a different tutor from one whose accuracy falls apart under timed conditions. When a family asks for IB DP French B home tuition in Mumbai, the match is made on which component is losing marks, which level the student sits, and which corridor the household is in, because a tutor who cannot reach you reliably at seven in the evening is not a match however strong the subject knowledge.

The shortlist is small on purpose. Two or three profiles, each of whom has taken French B students through to final examinations, is more useful than a long list of availability. Speak to each one about technique. Ask how they would handle a reading answer that paraphrases the passage badly, or what they do in the first ten minutes of a listening lesson. The answers separate candidates quickly. There is no single best IB tutor in Mumbai for French B, because the right tutor depends entirely on which paper is the problem and how your household's week is already built.

Searches like IB tutors near me Mumbai return a great deal of general language tuition, and French B is not general language tuition. It is assessed against published criteria by examiners looking for specific behaviours, so a teacher who has only ever taught conversational French will coach the language well and the examination badly. Ask directly whether the tutor has marked work against the French B criteria and whether they can show you, on your child's own script, how a band was reached.

  • 1. Send the year, level, school, area and the last marked French B script
  • 2. We shortlist two or three tutors who have taught French B to exams
  • 3. You speak to each about technique rather than about credentials
  • 4. The first session diagnoses one component instead of surveying everything
  • 5. A written plan follows: which paper, which habit, which weeks
  • 6. If the fit is wrong after two sessions, say so and we rematch

Where French B sits in the Diploma Programme, and why that shapes practice

French B is a language acquisition course in the IB Diploma Programme, taken by students who already have some French behind them from the Middle Years Programme (MYP), from IGCSE, or from years of school French elsewhere. It runs at Higher Level (HL) and at Standard Level (SL), and which level and which language a student takes is a placement decision made by the school together with the family. This page does not try to influence that choice. It assumes the choice is made and asks a narrower question: given that your child is sitting French B, what does good examination preparation look like?

The answer starts with the shape of the course. French B is organised around prescribed themes rather than around a list of grammar points, and the themes recur across reading texts, listening audio, written tasks and the oral. A student who treats the themes as the organising structure builds vocabulary that transfers between components. A student who treats French B as a grammar syllabus with some topics attached ends up with accurate sentences and nothing to say. A good French B tutor in Mumbai works thematically and brings grammar in where a theme demands it.

Assessment splits into externally marked papers and an internally assessed oral. HL and SL face components of the same broad shape at different levels of demand, with HL carrying a literary element that SL does not. The specifics of structure, timing and weighting are revised by the IB on its own cycle, so do not take any figure from a tutor, an agency, or this page. Read the current subject guide, or ask your child's DP coordinator, and plan from that.

What stays constant is the behaviour being rewarded. Across every component, French B asks the student to understand a source accurately, respond to a task as it was set, and control language well enough that meaning is never in doubt. Everything in the rest of this page is a method for drilling one of those three things.

  • Themes, not grammar lists, are the organising structure of the course
  • HL and SL share component shape; HL adds a literary element
  • The oral is internally assessed; the papers are marked externally
  • Component structure changes on the IB's cycle: check the current guide
  • Level and language placement is the school's decision with the family
  • Vocabulary built thematically transfers between reading, writing and speaking

Paper by paper: what each French B component is really testing

The reading section is not a general knowledge test, and this is where the largest avoidable losses happen. A student reads a text about urban cycling in Lyon, recognises the topic, and answers from what she knows about urban cycling rather than from what this writer said about it. The answer is sensible, well expressed, and wrong, because the mark is for retrieving the writer's point. The drill is mechanical and it works: before writing anything, underline the words in the passage that carry the answer, then write the answer so that it could be traced straight back to those words. A tutor who marks reading work should be asking, every single time, where in the text that came from.

Listening is a timing problem as much as a comprehension problem. Replay is limited, the audio moves at its own pace, and a student who stops to perfect item four loses items nine and ten. The habit to build is reading the questions in the gap before the audio starts so the ear knows what it is hunting for, writing partial answers rather than nothing, and moving on without arguing with the recording. French-speaking cultures are plural, and the audio reflects that: a speaker from Dakar, Brussels, Geneva, Montreal, Casablanca or Abidjan sounds different from a Parisian newsreader, and all of those varieties are proper French. Students whose only input has been one accent get a shock. Students in Mumbai households that already switch between Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati, English and more usually adapt faster than they expect, because the ear is already trained to retune.

The written task is where fluent students are most often surprised. The task names a text type and an audience, and a blog post, an email to a host family, a report for a school magazine and a speech each carry conventions that a marker is looking for. Register is part of the assessment, not decoration on top of it. A student who writes an elegant essay when the task asked for a leaflet has lost marks that no amount of accurate subjunctive will recover. The oral, meanwhile, rewards the student who can keep talking usefully under a follow-up question rather than the student who has memorised a monologue.

  • Reading answers must be traceable to specific words in the passage
  • Read listening questions in the gap before the audio begins
  • Write partial listening answers instead of leaving a blank
  • Text type and audience are assessed, not stylistic suggestions
  • Expect plural accents: Senegal, Belgium, Switzerland, Quebec, Morocco
  • The oral rewards flexible response, not a rehearsed monologue

Which parts of Mumbai do French B home tutors cover?

French B home tuition is available across all six Mumbai zones, but the practical limit is travel time at the hour you actually want the lesson. In South Mumbai the distances are short and the clock is not: a tutor crossing from Worli to Colaba or Cuffe Parade covers a few kilometres and can still lose forty minutes at the Peddar Road and Haji Ali signals in the evening peak. Families in Walkeshwar, Fort and Tardeo are usually matched inside the island rather than waiting for someone to come down the Western Line. Metro Line 3 and the Coastal Road have changed some of these runs, but the evening peak still decides the slot.

The Western Suburbs are the densest band of French B demand in the city, and they run north to south along the Western Express Highway, the Link Road and the Western Line. Matching along the line works; matching across it does not. A tutor based in Khar West will hold a standing slot in Santacruz West, Bandra or Juhu for two years. The same tutor asked to reach Malad, Kandivali or Borivali at 6pm will cancel by the third week. Metro Lines 2A and 7 have made the Dahisar to Andheri stretch workable in a way the highway alone never was, so Goregaon East and Andheri West pairings are more reliable than they used to be.

The Central Suburbs centre on the Central Line and the Eastern Express Highway, with Powai and Chandivali hanging off JVLR. Powai is the exception in Mumbai, Maharashtra: physically central, with no station of its own, so tutors arrive by road from Andheri East, Kanjurmarg, Kurla or Ghatkopar. The Eastern Suburbs run from Chembur and Govandi through Vikhroli and Bhandup to Mulund, and the Eastern Freeway makes Wadala and Chembur far closer to the island than the map suggests. In Navi Mumbai, matching is node to node: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel sit minutes apart on Palm Beach Road and the Sion-Panvel Highway, and the Atal Setu has shortened the crossing without making a weekday island-to-Kharghar run sensible. Thane runs west to east from the station across Pokhran Road and Majiwada, and Ghodbunder Road sets the timetable: near the station to Kasarvadavali is twenty minutes off-peak and close to an hour by evening.

  • South Mumbai: Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Worli, Walkeshwar, Fort, Peddar Road
  • Western Suburbs: Bandra, Khar West, Santacruz West, Juhu, Malad, Borivali
  • Central Suburbs: Powai, Chandivali, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Mulund, Andheri East
  • Eastern Suburbs: Chembur, Govandi, Vikhroli, Bhandup, Wadala, Mulund West
  • Navi Mumbai: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar, Panvel on Palm Beach Road
  • Thane: Pokhran Road, Majiwada, Ghodbunder Road, Kasarvadavali

How the Mumbai school calendar decides when exam technique gets drilled

Mumbai families sitting French B are mostly at schools whose calendars pile internal assessment, mock examinations and coursework deadlines into the same narrow windows. Students at Cathedral and John Connon School in Fort, B.D. Somani International School in Cuffe Parade, Bombay International School at Babulnath, Dhirubhai Ambani International School in BKC, Ecole Mondiale World School in Juhu, Hiranandani Foundation School in Powai and Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School in Thane all deal with the same shape of year even where the detail differs. IB Gram is an independent platform and is not affiliated with any school named here, with the International Baccalaureate organisation, or with any language-certification body. The schools are named because their calendars are the pressure your tutor has to plan around.

The useful consequence is that exam technique has to be drilled when there is room for it, not when it becomes urgent. The quiet stretch early in DP1 is when a student can afford to spend a whole hour on a single reading passage, working out where every answer came from. By the time DP2 mocks arrive, there is no room for that kind of slow work, because the Extended Essay (EE), the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) essay and three or four Internal Assessment (IA) deadlines are competing for the same evenings.

The monsoon matters more than parents expect. A tutor who commits to a Thane or Powai evening slot in a dry November is making a promise they may not keep in July, when Ghodbunder Road and the Eastern Express Highway behave very differently. Agree a monsoon fallback at the start: same time, same day, online, no renegotiation. It keeps the sequence of lessons intact in the months when continuity matters most.

Mock season is also when a French B tutor earns their place. The student comes home with a marked script and a mark that feels unfair. The tutor's job is to go through it line by line, identify which of the three behaviours failed, and convert the disappointment into a list of two or three repeatable fixes. A tutor who responds to a bad mock with reassurance rather than a list of fixes is not helping.

  • Drill slow reading technique in DP1 while the calendar still allows it
  • DP2 mocks collide with EE, TOK and several IA deadlines
  • Agree a monsoon fallback slot before the first session, not during July
  • A marked mock is the single most useful document a tutor can see
  • School calendars differ; confirm dates with your DP coordinator
  • Mumbai exam windows cluster deadlines into a few hard fortnights

Is home tuition, online or hybrid better for French B exam technique?

Home tuition is the lead option and the one most Mumbai families choose, because exam technique work is physical. There are marked scripts on the table, a highlighter, a printed passage with the answer sources underlined, and a criteria sheet the student is annotating. A tutor sitting next to a student can see the moment her eye leaves the passage and starts answering from memory, and can stop it there. That intervention is much harder to make over a screen. IB DP French B home tuition in Mumbai also removes the travel burden from the student, which matters when the alternative is an hour on the Western Express Highway after a full school day.

Online is genuinely good for two things and weak at a third. It is excellent for listening practice, because the audio reaches the student at full quality through headphones rather than through a laptop speaker in a room with a mixer running. It is excellent for oral rehearsal, where frequent short sessions beat one long weekly one, and a fifteen minute call three times a week is only possible without travel. It is weaker for the marking conversation, where two people need to be looking at the same piece of paper. An IB online tutor in Mumbai can run the first two well and should be honest about the third.

Hybrid is what most French B students end up on by DP2, and it is a deliberate structure rather than a compromise. One home session a week for the marking conversation and the written task work, plus two short online calls for listening and oral drilling. Whether you call it an IB private tutor Mumbai arrangement or home tuition, the format is one to one, and the question is only which part of the week happens in your living room. Families in Kharghar, Panvel and Kasarvadavali lean harder on the online half for the simple reason that the evening road does not cooperate.

  • Home tuition wins for marking conversations and written task work
  • Online wins for listening quality and short, frequent oral drills
  • Hybrid: one home session weekly plus two short online calls
  • Long-distance evening slots in Mumbai fail by week three, not week one
  • Ask the tutor which component they would run online and why
  • Keep the home session on a fixed day so the week has a spine

How are French B home tutors in Mumbai checked, and what should you check?

Every tutor listed for IB DP French B home tuition in Mumbai has had their identity documents and their claimed teaching history checked before a profile goes live, and anything we could not verify is not on the profile. Subject claims are checked separately from teaching claims, because they are different things: a tutor may have strong French and no experience of the French B criteria, and for this work the criteria experience is what you are buying. We ask for evidence of having taught the course through to final examinations rather than for a certificate.

What IB Gram cannot check for you is fit, and fit is most of the outcome. So there is a second layer of checking that belongs to you, and it takes one conversation. Ask the tutor to talk you through a band on the written task criteria in plain English. Ask what they would do with a student who writes beautifully and ignores the task. Ask how they handle a listening lesson when the student has already heard the audio once. A tutor who can answer those three questions concretely has done the work. A tutor who answers with a description of their own fluency has not.

Two things should make you stop. The first is a tutor who promises a specific grade. No honest tutor does that, because the student sits the paper and the examiner marks it, and IB Gram does not guarantee grades either. The second is any offer to help with a submission beyond teaching and marking. A tutor may teach a text type, explain a criterion and mark a draft with comments. A tutor may never write, redraft or supply any part of what your child submits, and a tutor who offers to is putting the student's academic honesty record at risk for a few marks.

Check the practical things too, before the first session rather than after. Confirm who is in the room, what the tutor expects the student to bring, and whether the written plan you were promised actually arrives.

  • Identity and teaching history verified before a profile is published
  • Course experience through final exams matters more than fluency alone
  • Ask the tutor to explain one written task band in plain English
  • A tutor who promises a specific grade should be refused the slot
  • Marking a draft is allowed; writing any part of it is not
  • You check fit; we check documents. Both layers are needed

Self-marking before the tutor marks: the habit that moves French B grades

The single most useful change a French B student can make is to mark her own written task against the published criteria before she hands it to anyone. Not read it over. Mark it, with the criteria sheet open, awarding herself a band for each strand and writing one sentence of justification for each. It feels artificial for the first three attempts and then it starts to work, because the student stops writing for a vague sense of quality and starts writing for the thing that is actually assessed. By the fifth attempt she is catching the register mismatch herself, which is the point.

Self-marking only works against the real criteria, so get them from the school or the current subject guide rather than from a summary someone has retyped. The student then hands over both the task and her own marking. The tutor marks independently and the two sets of judgements are compared. Where they agree, the student has internalised that strand. Where they differ, there is a specific, teachable gap, and the conversation is about why the tutor read it differently rather than about whether the piece was good.

Planning sits upstream of all of this. Most written task marks are lost before the first sentence, when a student reads the task, spots a familiar topic, and starts writing. Three minutes of planning fixes it: name the text type, name the audience, decide the register, list three points, then write. That plan is also what makes writing to the task possible instead of writing to length. Students pad because they have run out of plan, and padding costs marks twice, once for irrelevance and once for the errors that creep in when a student writes sentences she does not need.

The last piece is the student's own error list, kept in a notebook and nowhere else. Not a general list of French difficulties. Her list: the agreement she gets wrong, the preposition she guesses, the tense she avoids by rephrasing. Six or seven recurring errors, drilled deliberately, will move a script further than another twenty vocabulary items. A good tutor builds that list from the student's marked work over a few weeks and then refuses to let her leave a session without correcting two of them. French B home classes Mumbai students attend after school are at their most valuable when fifteen minutes of every hour goes to that list.

  • Student marks her own piece against the criteria before handing it over
  • Compare her bands with the tutor's; the gaps are the lesson
  • Three minutes of planning: text type, audience, register, three points
  • Write to the task, not to length; padding costs marks twice
  • Keep a personal error list of six or seven recurring mistakes
  • Use the real published criteria, never a retyped summary

What progress in French B honestly looks like at four weeks and one term

At four weeks you should not be looking for a grade change, and a tutor who points at one is reading noise. What you should see is behavioural: the student underlining the passage before answering, producing a three-line plan before a written task, and being able to tell you which band her last piece hit and why. If those three things are not happening after four sessions, the sessions are being spent on content rather than on technique, and that is a conversation to have immediately rather than at the end of term.

At one term the marks start to follow, and they follow unevenly. Reading usually moves first, because the fix is procedural and the student either traces her answers to the text or she does not. Listening moves next, over perhaps two months, as the pre-reading and partial-answer habits bed in. Writing moves slowest, because register and text type control are judgement rather than procedure, and judgement takes a dozen marked pieces. A home tutor for French B Mumbai families book in DP1 has time for that dozen. One engaged in February of DP2 does not, and should say so.

By one full examination cycle the honest claim is narrower than most marketing suggests: a student who has drilled technique consistently will convert the French she already has into marks much more reliably than a student who has not. That is worth real points. It is not a promise about an outcome. IB Gram does not guarantee grades, and neither should anyone you speak to, because the examiner marks the script and nobody in your living room controls that.

The failure mode worth naming is the comfortable plateau. A student who is reasonably good at French can coast on existing ability, produce consistently acceptable work, and stop improving entirely, because nothing in the weekly session is hard enough to force a change. If the tutor's marking comments have stopped changing from week to week, the work has got too easy. Ask for harder texts, tighter timing, and an unseen task with no preparation.

  • Four weeks: look for new habits, not for a new grade
  • Reading improves first, listening next, writing slowest of the three
  • Writing needs roughly a dozen marked pieces before judgement shifts
  • A plateau means the work is too easy, not that the student has peaked
  • Unchanging marking comments are the clearest warning sign
  • Progress is measurable in behaviour long before it shows in marks

Starting IB DP French B home tuition in Mumbai: what to have ready

Three documents make the first session useful instead of exploratory. The most recent marked French B script, whatever state it is in. The teacher's comments, even if they are two lines. And the current criteria for whichever component is the problem, taken from the school or the subject guide. With those on the table, a tutor can diagnose in one session what would otherwise take three. Without them, the first hour goes on finding out what the examiner already told you.

The first session should be narrow. One component, one timed piece done in front of the tutor, then the student self-marking it while the tutor marks it separately. Comparing the two is the diagnosis. By the end you should have a written plan naming which component gets attention for the next six weeks, which two habits are being built, and what the student brings each week. If the session ends with a general assessment of ability and no plan, ask for the plan.

Set the practical terms in the same conversation. The day and time, the fallback for monsoon weeks and school trips, who is home during the session, and where in the flat the work happens, which should be a table rather than a bedroom. Settle how cancellations work on both sides before you need to use it. IB tuition fees in Mumbai depend on level, on how scarce the subject is, on how far the tutor travels and on session length, so ask for the structure in writing rather than a number over the phone.

One last thing to agree out loud, with the student in the room: the tutor teaches and marks, and the student writes. Every word submitted is hers. A French B IB Diploma Programme (DP), Years 1-2 tutor Mumbai families keep for both years is worth far more than a short, intense rescue, so set that boundary early and it never becomes a question later.

  • Bring the last marked script, teacher comments and the current criteria
  • Expect one component and one timed piece in the first session
  • Ask for a written six-week plan before the second session
  • Agree the slot, the fallback and the cancellation terms upfront
  • Work at a table with a parent in the flat, not in a bedroom
  • State the honesty boundary with the student present on day one
FAQs

Mumbai tutoring — questions parents ask

What does IB DP French B home tuition in Mumbai actually cover in the first session?+

One component, diagnosed properly, rather than a tour of the whole course. A good first session has the student produce a short timed piece on the paper that is losing marks, then mark it herself against the criteria while the tutor marks it separately. Comparing the two judgements shows exactly where her reading of her own work differs from an examiner's. The session should end with a written plan naming the component, the two habits being built, and what she brings next week. IB DP French B home tuition in Mumbai that begins with a general chat about ability has wasted an hour.

My daughter answers reading questions from general knowledge. How is that fixed?+

Mechanically, and faster than you would expect. The rule is that nothing goes on the answer line until the words carrying it have been underlined in the passage. For the first two weeks the tutor asks, on every answer, where in the text that came from, and the student has to point. It feels tedious and it retrains the reflex. Within about a month the underlining happens automatically and the general-knowledge answers stop appearing. This is the highest-yield fix in French B reading because the loss is pure technique, not comprehension: she understood the passage perfectly well and answered a different question.

The listening section is where he loses most marks. Can that genuinely be trained?+

Yes, because most listening losses are timing and strategy rather than ear. Three habits do the work: read the questions in the gap before the audio starts so the ear knows its targets, write a partial answer instead of a blank whenever anything was caught, and move on without arguing with the recording when an item is gone. Replay is limited, so a student who stays with one item loses three later ones. Practice also needs plural accents, because French is spoken across Senegal, Belgium, Switzerland, Quebec, Morocco, Haiti and more, and a student fed only one accent is unprepared.

Her written task was fluent and well expressed but scored badly. Why would that happen?+

Almost always because the text type and register did not match the task. A written task names a form and an audience, and a blog post, an email to a host family, a report and a speech each carry conventions a marker is looking for. A student who writes an elegant essay when the task asked for a leaflet loses marks that accurate grammar cannot recover. The fix is three minutes of planning before writing: name the text type, name the audience, fix the register, list three points. Then write to the task rather than to length, because padding costs marks for irrelevance and for the errors padding introduces.

Can a tutor travel to Cuffe Parade for a weekday evening slot?+

Yes, provided the tutor is matched inside South Mumbai rather than brought down from the suburbs. Distances on the island are short but the evening peak at Peddar Road and Haji Ali is slow, so a Worli to Cuffe Parade run that looks like fifteen minutes can take forty. Tutors living in Walkeshwar, Tardeo, Worli or Fort hold Cuffe Parade and Colaba slots reliably for two years. A tutor commuting from Andheri or Thane for a 7pm island slot will manage it for a month and then start rescheduling, which is worse for continuity than a slightly different tutor.

What happens at our society gate and building reception when a tutor first arrives?+

Tell us your building's policy when you book, because it decides what the tutor needs on day one. Most Mumbai societies want a photo ID at the gate, an entry in the visitor register, and a resident confirming the visit, either by app approval or a call from reception. Many complexes will issue a standing visitor pass once a weekly slot is established, which removes ten minutes of friction from every session. Tutors carry ID as standard. If your society requires police verification paperwork or a separate approval for repeat visitors, say so upfront and we will confirm the tutor can provide it.

What do IB tuition fees in Mumbai depend on for a subject like French B?+

Five things, and we will not quote a figure because an invented price helps nobody. Level matters, since HL work takes longer to mark than SL. Subject scarcity matters, and French B specialists who have taken students through to examinations are thinner on the ground than Maths or Economics tutors. Travel distance matters, because a tutor crossing Mumbai in the evening peak is giving up more time than one walking across Khar West. Session length and frequency matter, as does whether part of the week runs online. Ask for the structure in writing before the first session.

Does online really work for French B, or is home tuition always better?+

Both, for different components, which is why most families end up hybrid. Home tuition is clearly better for the marking conversation and written task work, because two people need to be looking at the same annotated page and the tutor needs to see the student's eye leave the passage. Online is better for listening, where headphone audio beats a laptop speaker in a busy room, and for oral rehearsal, where three short calls a week beat one long session. A reasonable structure is one home session weekly plus two fifteen-minute online calls for listening and speaking.

It has been a month and I cannot see any improvement. What should I do?+

Check for habits rather than marks, because marks at four weeks are noise. Ask to see her last three pieces of work and look for three specific things: is the reading passage underlined before answers are written, is there a short plan above each written task, and can she tell you which band her last piece reached and why. If all three are present, the work is on track and the marks will follow over a term. If none are present, the sessions are being spent on content instead of technique. Raise it with the tutor directly, and if nothing changes within two sessions, ask us to rematch.

Can the tutor help write or tidy up her written task before she submits it?+

No. A tutor may teach the text type, explain the criteria, and mark a draft with written comments the student then acts on herself. A tutor may never write, redraft, translate or supply any part of what your child submits. This is not a technicality we are being cautious about; it is an academic honesty boundary, and the consequences land on the student rather than the tutor. Say it out loud in the first session with the student present and it never becomes an awkward question in March. Any tutor who offers more than teaching and marking should be refused the slot.

Can you promise my son a specific French B grade by May?+

No, and anyone who does is selling you something they cannot deliver. IB Gram does not guarantee grades, because your son sits the paper and an examiner marks it, and nobody in your living room controls either. What consistent technique work does reliably achieve is converting the French he already has into marks he was previously losing to procedure: answering from the text, finishing the listening section, matching text type to task. That is worth real points on a script. It is a different claim from a predicted number, and the difference matters when you are choosing between tutors.
