How does IB Gram match an IB DP English A Literature online tutor in Mumbai?

Send the level, the year, this year's set texts and the hours that are actually free. You receive two or three profiles within a working day, each naming the English A course the tutor has taught, the level, how many Diploma Programme (DP) cycles they have completed, and where in Mumbai they are based. You phone your shortlist, run one trial session online, and decide about a standing weekly slot after you have seen the file that session produced.

Online matching changes one thing: geography stops being the first filter and becomes the second. We look for the tutor who knows your child's actual works, then ask whether a home arrangement would be possible anyway. A family in Dahisar East whose daughter is studying a poetry selection and a novel in translation may find the three tutors who have taught both are in Chembur, Vashi and Thane. Online solves that cleanly, and a mediocre local match does not.

We also ask about the tools before anyone is matched, because they are not incidental here. An IB DP English A Literature online tutor in Mumbai should work in a shared document the student can see being annotated live and keeps afterwards, should mark essays as comments attached to the student's own sentences rather than as a separate note, and should be willing to accept photographs of handwritten timed work. A tutor who teaches online by talking over a video call with the camera on a textbook is doing a worse version of a home session.

A person reads your enquiry before profiles go out. If you tell us your son is in Panvel, leaves for school before seven and gets back after six, that constraint shapes the match more than anything about the syllabus does, and it goes into the brief the tutor receives.

  • 1. Send the level, the year, the set texts and genuinely free hours
  • 2. Read profiles naming course, level, DP cycles and home base
  • 3. Ask each tutor how they annotate and how they return marking
  • 4. Run one trial online session and keep the file it produces
  • 5. Decide on a weekly slot after reading that file, not before

English A: Literature across DP1 and DP2, and what each year needs from a screen

English A: Literature is the International Baccalaureate (IB) English course built entirely from literary works, studied across poetry, drama, prose fiction and prose non-fiction, from different periods and places, including works read in translation. Higher Level (HL) covers more works than Standard Level (SL) and adds one further piece of independent written work developed over the two years. The number of works, the components and their shape are revised on the IB's own cycle, so take the current subject guide or your child's DP coordinator as the authority rather than any page online.

DP1 and DP2 want different things from an online arrangement. DP1 is the year for building the habit of reading closely, and it suits a long weekly session: one text, read slowly together, annotated in a shared file that grows all year. There is no deadline pressure, which is exactly why the slow work is possible. Most families who start in DP1 and keep going describe the second year as manageable, and most who start in DP2 describe it as triage.

DP2 wants the opposite shape. Short, frequent, targeted sessions, often two a week: thirty minutes on the structure of one essay, a marked script returned the next day, a plan checked before a timed attempt. This is where online is not a substitute for home tuition but genuinely the better format, because a thirty-minute session is worth doing and is not worth an hour on the Western Express Highway in each direction.

The level decision sits across both years. HL Literature asks for reading volume on top of five other subjects, the Extended Essay (EE) and Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and a student who reads slowly but willingly often produces stronger work at SL with time to finish the books. A tutor should tell you that rather than encouraging HL because it sounds better. English A: Literature IB Diploma Programme (DP), Years 1-2 tutor Mumbai families engage online should be as willing to say the level is wrong as the method is.

  • Poetry, drama, prose fiction and non-fiction, including works in translation
  • Higher Level adds breadth and one further independent written piece
  • DP1 online: one long weekly session, slow reading, a file that grows
  • DP2 online: short frequent sessions, fast marking, checked plans
  • A good tutor will say the level is wrong if the level is wrong

Paper 1, Paper 2 and the HL essay when the teaching happens on a screen

Paper 1 is guided literary analysis of an unseen passage. Paper 2 is a comparative essay on studied works, with a question the student has not seen. At Higher Level there is also the HL essay, independent written work on one text. There is an internally assessed individual oral as well, which our Literature home tutor page covers properly. Across all of them the marks come from an argument about how the writing works, supported from the writing itself, and nothing is credited for retelling the story.

Paper 1 is the component that gains most from a shared screen, because unseen analysis is a visible process and a screen makes the process visible. The passage goes into a shared document, and the tutor annotates it line by line while the student watches and talks: this word repeats, the syntax breaks here, the stanza turns at this point, who is actually speaking in this line. Then they swap, and the student annotates the next passage while the tutor asks what each mark is for. Half the marks a student loses on Paper 1 are lost before writing starts, in a passage that was read once and not marked at all.

Paper 2 needs planning more than prose, and planning is well suited to a short online session. Give the student a question she has not seen, ten minutes to build a comparative plan, then take the plan apart together on screen before a word of essay is written. The common failure is an essay that is two separate accounts of two works with one sentence of comparison between them, and that failure is always visible in the plan, which is far cheaper to fix than a finished essay.

HL essay work runs across months, which suits asynchronous marking. The student sends a section, the tutor returns it with comments anchored to specific sentences, and the next live session is spent on the two comments she did not understand rather than on reading the whole thing aloud. One boundary holds absolutely in that process: a tutor comments, questions and marks, and never types a sentence into the student's draft. A shared document makes that line easy to cross by accident, which is exactly why it has to be stated out loud at the start.

  • Paper 1: unseen passage annotated live in a shared file, then swapped
  • Paper 2: plan built in ten minutes, then dismantled before any writing
  • HL essay: sections marked asynchronously, live time spent on the hard comments
  • Plot summary earns nothing in any component, at either level
  • The tutor comments on a draft and never types into it

Mumbai coverage when distance stops deciding who teaches your child

Online removes the travel constraint, which matters most at the edges of the city. Families in Dahisar East, Borivali, Kandivali East and Malad routinely find that the tutors who have taught their child's exact works are nowhere near the far end of the Western Line, even with Metro Lines 2A and 7 improving the Dahisar to Andheri run. The same is true in Panvel and the outer Navi Mumbai nodes, and in Kasarvadavali at the far end of Ghodbunder Road in Thane. For those households an IB DP English A Literature online tutor in Mumbai is not a compromise; it is the only way to reach a specialist who would never commit to that drive twice a week.

Where a genuine local specialist does exist, we say so and offer home tuition instead, because for some students the book on the table beats the file on the screen. That is realistic in the denser pockets: Bandra, Khar West, Santacruz West and Juhu in the Western Suburbs; Powai, Chandivali, Ghatkopar and Vikhroli in the Central Suburbs; Chembur, Wadala, Bhandup and Mulund in the Eastern Suburbs, where the Eastern Freeway makes the run towards South Mumbai quicker than it looks. South Mumbai itself, across Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Fort, Walkeshwar, Tardeo and Worli, has its own small pool, and the Coastal Road, Metro Line 3 and the Bandra-Worli Sea Link decide which parts of it are reachable from where.

Navi Mumbai works node to node for home sessions across Vashi, Nerul, Belapur and Kharghar along Palm Beach Road, the Harbour and Trans-Harbour lines and the Sion-Panvel Highway, with the Atal Setu shortening the island crossing without making it a weekly proposition. Thane spreads from the station along Pokhran Road and Majiwada out to Ghodbunder Road, served by the Central Line and the Eastern Express Highway. Across Mumbai, Maharashtra the pattern is consistent: the denser the IB school cluster nearby, the more likely a home tutor is genuinely available.

Online also solves a Mumbai problem that has nothing to do with distance. The monsoon takes out evening travel across the city for weeks at a time, and the sessions lost in July and August are the ones that were building the habit. Families who agree at the start that a washed-out evening converts to an online hour that same week keep their term intact. Parents searching IB tutors near me Mumbai often end up here for precisely that reason: the nearest tutor is still subject to the weather.

  • Online reaches the edges: Dahisar East, Borivali, Panvel, Kasarvadavali
  • Home tuition offered where a real local specialist exists, not as a default
  • Denser pools: Bandra, Khar West, Juhu, Powai, Ghatkopar, Chembur, Wadala
  • Navi Mumbai nodes Vashi, Nerul, Belapur and Kharghar for home sessions
  • South Mumbai: Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Worli, Walkeshwar, Tardeo, Fort
  • Monsoon weeks convert to online rather than being lost

The Mumbai school calendar and the weeks an online slot saves

Students we work with attend Dhirubhai Ambani International School and Ascend International School in BKC, Jamnabai Narsee International School and Utpal Shanghvi Global School in Juhu, Cathedral and John Connon School in Fort, Bombay International School at Babulnath, Aditya Birla World Academy in Tardeo, Oberoi International School on JVLR, Hiranandani Foundation School in Powai, Thakur International School in Kandivali East, Singapore International School in Dahisar East, NES International School in Mulund West and D.Y. Patil International School in Nerul, among others. IB Gram is an independent platform and is not affiliated with any of those schools, or with the IB organisation. Their calendars are relevant here only because they decide when a family runs out of evenings.

The year has a predictable shape. DP1 is quiet until the first serious unseen analysis task, usually in the second half of the first term, which is when a student who reads widely discovers that reading widely is not what is being marked. DP1's second half brings oral planning and the set texts stacking up. DP2 autumn is the collision: mock examinations, the HL essay in progress, the Extended Essay deadline and the Theory of Knowledge essay in the same few weeks.

That collision is where an online arrangement earns its place most obviously. A DP2 student in Borivali with mocks starting cannot give up three hours of an evening for a one-hour session, and she can give up forty minutes. A DP2 student in Kharghar with a long school commute has one usable window on a weeknight and it is not the window a travelling tutor wants. Short sessions at odd hours are feasible online and are not feasible at home, which is why most of our DP2 arrangements shift towards the screen even when they began as IB home tuition in Mumbai.

There is a second calendar argument, and it is about continuity rather than convenience. English improves through unbroken weekly practice, and the weeks most often lost are exam weeks, school trips, festival weeks and monsoon weeks. An arrangement that can move to a screen on short notice loses perhaps two sessions a year. One that cannot loses ten, and ten lost sessions is most of a term's progress.

  • DP1 first term: the first unseen task exposes reading without analysis
  • DP1 second half: oral planning begins and set texts accumulate
  • DP2 autumn: mocks, HL essay, Extended Essay and TOK essay collide
  • Forty-minute online sessions are feasible in mock season; home hours are not
  • A format that can move online loses two sessions a year, not ten

Online, home tuition or hybrid for DP Literature in Mumbai?

Online is the right lead when the specialist who knows your child's works is in the wrong part of the city, when the only usable hours are short ones, or when the arrangement has to survive a monsoon and a mock season intact. It is not a lesser version of a home session. Marking is faster and more precise on screen, the annotated files accumulate into something your child can revise from, and a tutor can give forty minutes on a Wednesday night that no travelling tutor would ever offer.

Home tuition is still the better answer for a specific kind of student, and we will tell you when yours is one. If your child reads physically, writes in margins, loses focus the moment a screen is involved, or simply will not speak at length into a camera, a home tutor for English A: Literature Mumbai parents can book locally will outperform a better-qualified tutor online. Home classes also expose the study space, which often explains more about rushed essays than any diagnostic does. Where a competent local tutor exists, we offer that first.

Hybrid is what most two-year arrangements become, and it is worth planning deliberately rather than drifting into. A workable pattern: one longer home session a fortnight for close reading with the books physically open, an online session every week for marking and planning, and asynchronous marking in between. Families who want English A: Literature home classes Mumbai tutors can sustain alongside a screen-based routine usually end up with something close to this.

The honest costs. Online needs a quiet room with a door, a stable connection, a second screen or at least a tablet beside the laptop, and a student who will annotate rather than nod. It is poor for a child who performs attention well and absorbs nothing. Home tuition costs travel time that the tutor pays for with their evening, and it limits your choice of tutor to whoever lives near you. Hybrid asks you to track two patterns. Choose after the trial session, and change it when the year changes.

  • Online leads when the specialist is far, the hours are short, or weather intervenes
  • Home tuition wins for students who read physically and dislike cameras
  • Hybrid: fortnightly home session, weekly online session, marking in between
  • Online needs a door, a stable line and a second screen for the text
  • Where a competent local tutor exists, we offer home classes first

What we check, and the extra questions to ask an online English tutor

We verify identity and qualification documents, record which boards, courses and levels each tutor has actually taught, and ask how many full DP cycles they have completed. Tutors state which English A course they teach, because Literature and Language and Literature are different courses and a generic English tutoring profile hides that. Tutors are asked to decline work outside their real experience, and the good ones do it unprompted.

For an online arrangement there are four extra questions worth asking in the first call, and they take five minutes. What do you annotate in, and does my daughter keep the file? How do you return marked essays, and are the comments attached to her sentences or written separately? How do you handle handwritten timed work? And what do you do when a student has clearly not read the passage before the session starts? The last one is diagnostic: a tutor with a good answer has met the situation often and has a plan that does not involve reading the passage aloud to her for twenty minutes.

There is one boundary specific to shared documents and it needs saying before the first session. An IB DP English A Literature online tutor in Mumbai may annotate a text, type critical questions, model analysis in a separate file and comment on a draft. A tutor may never type into the student's own essay, rewrite her sentences, or supply any part of what she submits. A shared document makes that line very easy to cross without intending to, so agree explicitly that the tutor works in comments and in their own file, and that the student's draft is hers alone.

Then judge the trial by its artefact. A useful first online session leaves behind a file with a passage genuinely marked up, one named weakness and one task. A weak one leaves a pleasant conversation. And be wary of any tutor who promises a specific grade, online or otherwise; IB Gram does not guarantee grades, examiners mark what is written on the day, and the claim tells you more about the tutor than about your child's prospects. Be wary too of anyone who treats a student who reads in three languages as someone with an English problem; multilingual readers have an advantage in a course built partly on works in translation.

  • Identity, qualifications and taught courses verified before listing
  • Profiles state which English A course and level the tutor has taught
  • Ask what they annotate in and whether your child keeps the file
  • Agree the tutor works in comments; the student's draft stays hers alone
  • Be wary of anyone who promises a specific grade in an examined subject

What does reading a text together on a screen actually look like?

It looks like a shared document with a poem pasted into it and a cursor moving through it line by line while two people talk. The tutor marks a repeated word and asks what it is doing the second time that it was not doing the first. They underline a line break and ask why the sentence was broken there rather than a word later. They highlight a shift in who is speaking and wait. Your child watches the marks appear in real time, which is the part that cannot be replicated by a description of close reading: she sees what an experienced reader notices and in what order they notice it. Then they swap, she annotates the next stanza, and every mark she makes gets the same question put to it.

Essay marking works on the same principle, anchored rather than general. A comment attached to her own fourth sentence saying this is a description of what happens, not a claim about how it works is worth more than a paragraph of advice at the bottom of the page, because she can see exactly which sentence failed and why. Over a term the comments repeat, and the repetition is the lesson: she begins to hear the comment before she writes the sentence. Marking also runs asynchronously, which is a real advantage in DP2. She sends an essay on Sunday, it comes back Monday with comments, and Wednesday's short session is spent only on what she could not fix herself.

Planning before anyone writes is the third piece and it is underused. For a comparative question, ten minutes of plan on a shared screen will reveal whether the comparison is an argument or a staple, and that can be fixed in two minutes at the plan stage and not at all once the essay is written. The habit transfers: students who have been planned at for a year start planning alone, which is what you actually wanted.

The fourth thing is cumulative and it is the strongest argument for the format. Across two years the shared file becomes something that does not exist in a home arrangement: every passage worked on, with its annotations intact; a growing list of techniques with an example of each from the student's own set texts; the critical questions she found hard, written down; her essays with their comment threads. In March of DP2 that file is a revision resource built out of her own difficulties, and nobody had to make it on purpose.

Now the counterweight, stated as plainly as the rest. The written examinations are handwritten, under time, with no document, no cursor and no comment thread. A student who has only ever analysed in a shared file will write slowly, run out of time and discover in the exam hall that her hand cannot keep up with her thinking. Online work must therefore include longhand: timed handwritten responses, photographed and sent for marking, with the tutor commenting on the photograph or on the typed-up version. Expect this from DP1, not from the mocks. Handwriting stamina, legibility and the ability to plan on paper in two minutes are examinable skills in practice even though nobody awards marks for them directly, and an online arrangement that ignores them is incomplete.

  • A poem annotated live, line by line, while the student watches and talks
  • Then reversed: she annotates and defends every mark she makes
  • Essay comments anchored to her own sentences, not advice at the bottom
  • Asynchronous marking frees live time for what she could not fix alone
  • A two-year shared file of passages, techniques and hard questions
  • Handwritten timed work photographed and marked, from DP1 onwards

Four weeks, one term and one exam cycle of online sessions

At four weeks, judge the artefacts rather than the atmosphere. There should be three or four passages in the shared file with real annotation on them, at least one essay returned with comments attached to specific sentences, and one habit the tutor can name. Your child should be annotating before she writes rather than afterwards. If after four sessions the file is thin and the feedback is encouraging in general terms, the match is wrong and you should say so rather than waiting out the term.

At one term the change shows first in unseen analysis, because that is where no remembered content can be substituted for reading. School feedback stops asking for more analysis and starts arguing with the point she made. Comparative essay work lags, since it depends on knowing two works thoroughly and that is built in class across a year. By this stage at least two timed handwritten responses should have been photographed and marked, and if none have, raise it; it is the single most common gap in an otherwise good online arrangement.

Across a full exam cycle, consistent weekly work on annotation, argument and timed writing reliably improves what a student can produce under pressure and guarantees no particular outcome. IB Gram does not guarantee grades, and we are not affiliated with any school, board or examining body. A student who has not read the works has a ceiling no format can raise, and a well-prepared student can still have a bad morning in Paper 1. Be wary of anyone who promises a specific result from a particular format.

When it is not working, tell us early and in specifics. The online-specific failures are recognisable: a tutor who talks for most of the session, a camera off at both ends, feedback that arrives as a voice note instead of marks on the page, a shared file that has not changed in a month. Often the brief was wrong rather than the tutor, and one conversation redirects them. When the match is genuinely wrong we replace the tutor, you pay only for sessions taught, and the incoming tutor receives the shared file and a written handover, so your child does not lose the only thing an online year accumulates.

  • Four weeks: real annotation in the file, one anchored-comment essay returned
  • One term: unseen analysis improves first; comparative essays follow
  • Two timed handwritten responses marked by one term, or raise it
  • No format guarantees a grade; examiners mark the script written that day
  • On replacement, the shared file and a written handover transfer across

Starting online, with home classes in Mumbai as the fallback

Send four things. This year's set text list, because it determines which tutors are genuinely suitable. One recent marked essay, photographed if it is handwritten. The latest report or mock result. And the practical facts: your zone, the hours that are actually free on a school night, and whether a home session is possible if a good local tutor turns out to exist.

The first online session should be diagnostic and leave something behind. Expect the tutor to put a short unseen passage into a shared file, ask your child to say what she notices, annotate alongside her, then ask for one written paragraph and take it apart in comments. At the end you should have the file, one written observation naming a specific weakness, and one task for the week. If the first session produces a friendly conversation and an empty document, that is a weak session and worth telling us about.

On fees we publish no figures, because a single number would be wrong for most readers. IB tuition fees in Mumbai depend on the level, how scarce tutors are for this exact course, travel distance and the hour of day when a session is at home, session length and frequency, and whether the arrangement is online, home tuition or hybrid. Online generally costs less per hour than the same tutor at your table, because nobody is spending an evening on the Eastern Express Highway. Higher Level work in DP2 costs more than Standard Level support in DP1. An IB private tutor Mumbai families keep across both years usually costs less in total than an intensive final-term block. We give you the range for your actual request first.

One last framing. Searching for the best IB tutor in Mumbai produces a list of adjectives; what you want is narrower. You want someone who has taught your child's works, who will annotate where she can watch, who marks on her sentences rather than beneath them, and who insists she keeps writing by hand. Tell us those four things and we will go looking for them.

  • Send the set text list, one marked essay, the last report and free hours
  • First session: a passage annotated together, one paragraph taken apart
  • You keep the file, one written observation and one task for the week
  • Online usually costs less per hour than the same tutor travelling to you
  • Ask for a tutor who insists on handwritten timed practice
FAQs

Mumbai tutoring — questions parents ask

Does online teaching really work for close reading?+

Yes, and for annotation it has a genuine advantage. A shared document lets your child watch an experienced reader mark a text in real time: the repeated word, the broken line, the shift in voice, in the order those things get noticed. That sequence is the skill, and describing it is far weaker than showing it. The session then reverses, she annotates and defends every mark. Where online is weaker is sustained speaking and physical books, so a student who reads with a pencil in hand and dislikes cameras may do better with home tuition. We will say which we think your child needs.

How does a tutor mark an essay online, and is it better than on paper?+

It should be marked as comments attached to specific sentences, which is more useful than a note at the bottom of a page. A comment on her own fourth sentence saying this describes what happens rather than claiming how it works points at the exact failure, and over a term the repeated comments start arriving in her head before she writes. Marking can also run asynchronously: she sends work on a Sunday, it returns on Monday, and the live session covers only what she could not repair alone. Ask any prospective tutor how they return marking before you book.

The exams are handwritten. Does online practice leave my son unprepared for that?+

It does if nobody plans for it, and that is the main weakness of the format. Written examinations are handwritten, under time, with no cursor and no comment thread, and a student who has only analysed in a shared file will think faster than he can write. The fix is routine rather than clever: timed handwritten responses from DP1, photographed and sent for marking, with the tutor commenting on the photograph. Expect at least a couple of these each term, and raise it if none have happened by the end of the first term. Handwriting stamina is a real examinable constraint.

What exactly is in the shared file after two years?+

Every passage worked on with its annotations intact, a growing list of techniques with an example of each taken from your child's own set texts, the critical questions she found difficult, and her essays with their comment threads attached. It accumulates without anyone setting out to build it, and by March of DP2 it is a revision resource made entirely from her own difficulties rather than from a generic guide. This is the one thing an online arrangement produces that a home arrangement usually does not. Confirm at the outset that she keeps the file if the tutor changes.

Can the tutor plan the essay with her before she writes it?+

Planning together is one of the best uses of a short online session. Give her a comparative question she has not seen, ten minutes to build a plan, then take it apart on screen. Whether the comparison is a real argument or two accounts stapled together is visible in the plan and costs two minutes to fix there, against a wasted evening once the essay exists. The boundary is that the plan must be hers: a tutor questions it, challenges it and marks it, and never types into her draft or supplies the argument she is meant to be building.

Can a tutor travel to our home in Borivali or Panvel instead, if we prefer?+

Yes where a competent local tutor exists, and we will tell you honestly when one does not. At the far end of the Western Line through Borivali and Dahisar East, and in Panvel and the outer Navi Mumbai nodes, the pool of tutors who have taught this specific course is thin, and families frequently find the right specialist is in Chembur, Thane or Vashi. In denser pockets such as Bandra, Khar West, Powai or Chembur, home classes are usually available. Give us your zone and two possible evenings and we will say which option your address actually supports.

What does the study space need for an evening online session at home?+

A door that closes, a table rather than a bed, decent light on the student's face, a stable connection and ideally a second screen or a tablet so the text can sit beside the video. Keep the phone in another room. Literature sessions involve reading aloud and thinking out loud, and neither happens honestly where a sibling is watching television nearby. A parent does not need to be present, and most stop sitting in after the first week or two. Ask the tutor at the start for a short written note after each session if you want visibility.

My daughter goes quiet on camera. Is online still worth trying?+

Try it once, but take the signal seriously if it persists. Some students think out loud readily at a table and shut down on a call, and no amount of good teaching fixes that in a format they dislike. Two things help first: turning the session into shared annotation so there is something to look at other than a face, and keeping sessions short. If she is still monosyllabic after three or four sessions, switch to home tuition and accept a smaller pool of tutors. Format should follow the student rather than the other way round.

Can the individual oral be rehearsed over video?+

Yes, and video has one specific advantage: the rehearsal can be recorded and returned with timestamped comments, which is awkward to do well in a living room. A tutor can interrupt with the kind of follow-up questions that expose a memorised script, and students hear their own filler and rushing far better on playback than from being told. Our Literature home tutor page covers oral preparation properly, including choosing a global issue and extracts. The boundary applies here too: a tutor coaches delivery and questions the argument, and never writes the script or chooses the extracts.

What do IB tuition fees in Mumbai depend on for online sessions?+

Level, course scarcity, session length and frequency, and we publish no figure because one number would mislead most readers. Online is generally cheaper per hour than the same tutor at your table, because nobody is spending an evening travelling, and that difference is largest for long-distance matches. Higher Level work in DP2 costs more than Standard Level support in DP1, since fewer tutors have taught this course through a full examination cycle. Two short sessions a week price differently from one long one. We give you the range for your specific request before you speak to any tutor.

A month of online sessions and nothing has changed. What now?+

Tell us, with specifics, and expect action in the same week. The recognisable online failures are a tutor who talks for most of the hour, cameras off at both ends, feedback arriving as voice notes rather than marks on the page, and a shared file that has not grown in a month. Any of those is worth reporting. Sometimes the brief was wrong, not the tutor, and redirecting them solves it in one conversation. Otherwise we replace the tutor, you pay only for sessions taught, and the shared file plus a written handover goes to the next one.

Should we use online in DP1 or save it for DP2 when things get busy?+

Use whichever fits each year, because the two years want different shapes. DP1 suits one long weekly session of slow reading with a file that grows all year, and that works online or at home equally well. DP2 suits short frequent sessions, fast marking and checked plans, which is where online is clearly the stronger format; a forty-minute session is worth having and is not worth two hours of travel. Most families who begin at home in DP1 drift towards the screen in DP2, and planning that shift deliberately in July is better than improvising it in October.

Find your Mumbai tutor

Send this year's set text list, one recent marked essay, the latest report, and the hours that are genuinely free on a school night. A person reads it, and within a working day you receive two or three profiles naming the English A course and level each tutor has taught and how they annotate and mark. Run one trial session, keep the file it produces, and decide from that rather than from a conversation.
