IB DP Design Technology Online Tutor in Mumbai

An IB DP Design Technology online tutor in Mumbai works because the assessed parts of this subject are mostly writing and drawing, even though the course feels like a making subject. IB Gram matches verified specialists for online sessions and for home tuition across the city, and we are clear about the one thing a screen cannot carry: the workshop.

Specialists verified on IB Diploma Programme teaching or examining experience
Online sessions built around shared-screen review of drawings and CAD
Home tuition offered alongside online wherever a tutor can reach you
Written feedback between sessions, so a draft is never idle a week

How we shortlist an IB DP Design Technology online tutor in Mumbai

Design Technology is a small subject in this city. At any point there are far fewer people who have taught the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) version of it than there are Physics or Economics tutors, and the ones who have are not evenly spread across Mumbai. That single fact is why most families end up looking at online options. A specialist living in Thane is no use to a family in Khar West on a Wednesday evening, and the same specialist is perfectly usable on a screen. Matching online removes the geography from a subject where geography is the binding constraint, which is why an IB DP Design Technology online tutor in Mumbai is often the only realistic match for a family outside the Western Suburbs.

What we will not do is pretend the mode makes no difference. Before shortlisting we ask what the sessions are for, because the answer changes who we suggest. A DP2 student who needs theory answers marked and a project write-up critiqued wants somebody who has examined or marked the papers. A DP1 student who cannot hold a drawing conversation without pointing at paper may be better served by home tuition, if anybody suitable can reach them, with online used only between sessions. We say which of those two we think you are.

The shortlist itself is short on purpose. Two or three names, each with a sentence explaining why that person rather than somebody else, beats a page of profiles. We send the tutor's IB background, the year groups they have taught, whether they have supervised a design project or only taught the theory, and their genuine weekly availability in Indian Standard Time rather than a vague claim of flexibility.

The sequence runs like this, and it is quick because a family chasing an internal deadline cannot spend a fortnight on introductions.

  • 1. Tell us the DP year, the level, and what the sessions are meant to fix.
  • 2. We shortlist two or three verified Design Technology specialists with real availability.
  • 3. You see IB background and project experience before agreeing to anything.
  • 4. A first online session runs as a diagnostic on existing project work.
  • 5. After two sessions you confirm the tutor or ask for a different one.

The two DP years, and which parts a screen carries well

Design Technology runs across both years of the Diploma Programme at Higher Level (HL) or Standard Level (SL), with written examinations at the end and a design project assessed internally alongside the taught course. The useful way to think about online support is to split the course into what is argument and what is physical. Argument is almost everything that earns marks: a written specification, the reasoning behind a development decision, the design of a test, the analysis of a result, a structured theory answer. Physical means the workshop and the prototype, and that half is not teachable through a camera.

Your school's coordinator and the current subject guide define exactly how the components are structured and weighted for the session your child sits. The IB revises subject guides on its own cycle, so figures repeated from an older cohort are not safe to plan around. An IB online tutor in Mumbai worth keeping will tell you to confirm the structure with the school and then spend the session on work rather than on administration.

In DP1 the online balance usually sits at fewer sessions with more writing between them. The student is finding a user, gathering research and drafting a specification, and those tasks produce documents that a tutor can annotate properly in their own time. A ninety-minute conversation about a half-written specification is worth less than twenty written comments on it followed by a forty-minute conversation about the three that matter. In DP2 the balance flips: shorter, more frequent sessions, because deadlines arrive in clusters and the student needs an opinion within two days rather than within two weeks.

The pattern that fails is weekly online sessions with nothing produced in between. Design Technology has no steady drip of homework to force output, so an online tutor who simply appears every Thursday ends up hearing the same project described in slightly different words for a month. Every session should close with a named deliverable and a date, and the tutor should see it before the next one.

  • Split the course into argument, which a screen carries, and physical work, which it does not
  • Confirm current component structure with the school, not with an older cohort
  • DP1 suits fewer sessions with heavy written feedback in between
  • DP2 suits shorter, more frequent reviews around clustered deadlines
  • Every session ends with a named deliverable and a date

Papers 1, 2 and (HL) 3: the theory online sessions mark well

The written examinations are Paper 1, Paper 2 and, for Higher Level candidates, Paper 3, and they test the taught theory of the subject: the properties and classification of materials, human factors and ergonomics, the stages and logic of the design cycle, sustainability, and the commercial realities of taking a product from an idea to something that can be made in quantity. Marking these is where online tuition is at its strongest, because a marked script is a document and a document shares perfectly.

A Design Technology tutor in Mumbai marking a structured answer online will usually find the same loss pattern. The student knows the content and writes around it. Asked why a particular material suits a particular application, they describe the product rather than naming the property, and the mark sits on the property. Asked to explain a stage of the design cycle, they define it instead of applying it to the case in the question. Over a shared screen a tutor can put the mark scheme beside the script, show the exact clause the answer missed, and have the student rewrite the sentence while the reasoning is still fresh. That loop is tighter online than it is at a kitchen table with one printed copy.

Command terms are the second recurring problem, and they are entirely teachable remotely. 'Outline', 'explain', 'discuss' and 'evaluate' each demand a different shape of answer, and a student who writes the same paragraph for all four leaves marks behind in every paper. A Design Technology IB Diploma Programme (DP), Years 1-2 tutor Mumbai parents shortlist should be able to show that difference on a single past question in ten minutes.

The project write-up is also writing, and online review suits it. What a tutor cannot do remotely is judge the physical work itself. Prototyping, model making and testing of physical artefacts belong in the school workshop, under the subject teacher and the technician, with the school's equipment and the school's safety procedures. No online tutor should be advising on tools, machine work, adhesives, finishes or material treatments for a student to try at home, and a tutor who does is the wrong tutor.

  • Paper 1, Paper 2 and, at Higher Level, Paper 3 assess taught theory
  • Marks sit on naming the property or principle, not on describing a product
  • Shared screens put the mark scheme beside the student's own script
  • Command terms decide the shape of the answer and are easy to teach remotely
  • Workshop work stays at school under the teacher and technician

Online lessons and home tuition across the six parts of Mumbai

An IB DP Design Technology online tutor in Mumbai reaches every part of Mumbai, Maharashtra equally, which is the point of the mode in a subject this thin on specialists. Where the city still matters is the fallback: if you decide after a term that you want someone in the room, your address decides whether that is possible. In Navi Mumbai we match home tuition node to node across Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel, using Palm Beach Road and the Sion Panvel Highway, with the Harbour and Trans Harbour lines and the Navi Mumbai Metro between Belapur and Pendhar. The Atal Setu has shortened the drive from the island city, but a weekday evening booking across the creek rarely survives a full term, and families in Kharghar and Panvel are usually better off online than waiting for a Bandra tutor to commit.

Thane is the other place where online changes the answer. A family in Kasarvadavali on the Ghodbunder Road corridor is twenty minutes from the station off-peak and close to an hour in the evening peak, which rules out most tutors for a 6.30pm slot. Online removes that entirely. The same holds along Pokhran Road, Majiwada and Vartak Nagar, and in the Eastern Suburbs across Chembur, Govandi, Vikhroli, Bhandup and Mulund, where the Central and Harbour lines and the Eastern Express Highway carry tutors north to south but almost nothing carries them east to west. The Eastern Freeway does make South Mumbai reachable from Chembur and Wadala faster than the map suggests, which occasionally rescues a home booking.

In the Central Suburbs we cover Powai, Chandivali, Kurla, Ghatkopar and Mulund. Powai is the interesting case because it has no station of its own: tutors reach Hiranandani Gardens by road from Andheri East, Kanjurmarg or Ghatkopar via the Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road, and the Santacruz Chembur Link Road matters more there than any train. Several Powai families use an online tutor for theory and a local home tutor for drawing work, which is a sensible division rather than a compromise.

The Western Suburbs hold the largest number of Design Technology students in the city, from Bandra, Khar West and Santacruz through Juhu, Vile Parle, Andheri West and Oshiwara up to Goregaon, Malad, Kandivali, Borivali and Dahisar. Metro Lines 2A and 7 between Dahisar and Gundavali have made the northern stretch workable for evening home sessions in a way the Western Express Highway and Link Road alone never managed. In South Mumbai we cover Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Churchgate, Walkeshwar, Peddar Road, Worli and Lower Parel, where distances are short and the Peddar Road and Haji Ali signals still cost a tutor forty minutes in the peak; Metro Line 3 from Cuffe Parade to the Bandra Kurla Complex and the Coastal Road have improved some journeys and left others untouched.

  • Navi Mumbai: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel matched node to node
  • Thane: Ghodbunder Road timing is why many families choose online
  • Eastern Suburbs run north to south; crossing the city sideways is the problem
  • Powai reached by road via JVLR, so split online theory and local drawing work
  • Western Suburbs and South Mumbai covered for home tuition where travel holds

Which months do Mumbai IB schools make online sessions essential?

January and February are the months when Mumbai families call about this subject, because that is when DP2 mock examinations collide with near-final design project work and the Extended Essay (EE). In that window the value of online tuition is turnaround rather than teaching: a student sends a section at ten at night, the tutor annotates it the next morning, and a thirty-minute call fixes it before the school checkpoint. No travelling tutor can offer that cadence, and in those eight weeks cadence is what matters.

The second pressure window is the end of the first term of DP1, when most schools want a brief, an identified user and a draft specification signed off. Families we work with have children at Dhirubhai Ambani International School, the American School of Bombay and Ascend International School in the Bandra Kurla Complex, Ecole Mondiale World School and Jamnabai Narsee International School in Juhu, Oberoi International School off JVLR, Hiranandani Foundation School in Powai, B.D. Somani International School in Cuffe Parade, the Cathedral and John Connon School in Fort, Bombay International School at Babulnath, NES International School in Mulund West, Singapore International School in Dahisar East, and D.Y. Patil International School in Nerul. Naming a school is local context only. IB Gram is an independent platform and is not affiliated with any of these schools, with any examination board, or with the International Baccalaureate organisation.

The monsoon is the third factor and it argues for online more than anything else does. From June to September evening travel across Mumbai is unreliable, and that falls precisely when DP1 students should be out meeting a user and gathering research. A home session cancelled because the tutor cannot get from Vile Parle to Mulund is a lost week; an online session in the same slot simply happens. Several families switch deliberately to online for the monsoon term and back to home tuition afterwards.

Schools also differ in how much workshop access students get and when. Some run timetabled workshop sessions with a technician present; others grant access on request, which means a student needing three separate testing sessions must book them in November rather than discovering in February that the workshop is full. An online tutor cannot change a school timetable, but can make sure the student asks the right question early enough to matter.

  • January and February: mocks, project deadlines and the Extended Essay together
  • End of DP1 term one: brief, user and draft specification usually due
  • Monsoon evenings make online the reliable option from June to September
  • Workshop access often needs booking months before it is needed
  • School naming is context only; IB Gram has no affiliation with any of them

Is home tuition or an online tutor better for Design Technology in Mumbai?

It depends on which half of the course you are buying help with, and the honest answer for most families is both. An IB DP Design Technology online tutor in Mumbai is better for marking theory scripts, reviewing written project documentation, questioning the logic of a test and giving fast feedback between sessions. Home tuition is better for drawing conversations, for a student who needs a person in the room to stay on task, and for the first diagnostic hour when somebody has to read a scattered pile of material and work out what is actually going on.

Home tuition has a second advantage families underrate. A home tutor sees the workspace. A great many stalled projects turn out to be students trying to do development drawings on a bed, in a shared room, with a television on, and nobody had mentioned it because nobody thought it was relevant. Design Technology home classes Mumbai families book also handle paper, sketchbook, laptop and printouts simultaneously, which is clumsy through a single camera. An IB home tutor in Mumbai who notices the desk problem in week one has already earned the term.

The online trade-offs are real and we would rather name them. Younger DP1 students drift on a screen in a way they do not at a table. Hand-drawing is awkward to share unless the student is willing to photograph pages and upload them before the session, which is a habit that takes a few weeks to form. And a tutor who has never seen the school workshop cannot tell what is realistically buildable there, which is a genuine limitation rather than a quibble. Against that, online opens the whole city's pool of specialists, costs less because nobody is paid for sitting in traffic, and is far easier to reschedule when a school event moves.

The arrangement most of our DP2 families settle on is hybrid: one home session a fortnight for drawing and the long conversations, weekly short online reviews on whatever was written since, and written comments on drafts in between. IB home tuition in Mumbai and online work are not competing products here. They cover different parts of the same subject, and the split is worth deciding deliberately in the first week rather than drifting into.

  • Online is stronger for marking theory and reviewing written project work
  • Home tuition is stronger for drawing, focus and the first diagnostic session
  • A home tutor sees the desk, the noise and the real working conditions
  • Online costs less because no one is paid for sitting in traffic
  • Hybrid: fortnightly home session, weekly online review, written comments between

How do we check an online Design Technology tutor in Mumbai?

Identity, qualifications and claimed teaching experience are verified before any profile reaches a family, and for this subject we check one thing more: whether the tutor has taught or examined the Diploma Programme course rather than a school design subject that sounds similar. The difference shows up immediately in how they talk about assessment. Somebody who has marked these papers talks about command terms and mark scheme clauses. Somebody who has not talks about creativity. For an IB DP Design Technology online tutor in Mumbai we also ask how they intend to see the student's drawings, because a tutor without an answer to that has not taught this subject remotely before.

Your own checks in the first session matter as much as ours. Ask the tutor to mark one past-paper answer live and explain where each mark went; a specialist does this comfortably and a generalist hedges. Ask how they will review a hand-drawn development page over a screen. Ask what they will do when the school's teacher disagrees with their advice, and listen for the right answer, which is that the teacher is the authority on the project and on what the school workshop can actually do. An IB private tutor Mumbai families keep for two years is almost always one who deferred to the school early and said so without being asked.

Ask about the boundary too. A tutor may teach the design method, mark theory work, question a draft the student wrote and point out that an argument does not hold. A tutor may not write, redraft, draw, model or supply any part of the design project, and may not dictate sentences for a student to type. Any use of artificial intelligence tools at any stage is declared under the school's academic integrity rules, and the coordinator, not the tutor, is the person to ask what those rules permit.

On results, be wary of anyone who promises a specific grade, and be wary of a tutor who offers a guaranteed grade in a subject where the project is marked by the school and then moderated externally. We do not guarantee grades. A parent typing best IB tutor in Mumbai into a search box is really asking a different question, which is whether this particular person knows this particular course, and that is answerable in one session.

  • Verified on identity, qualifications and Diploma Programme teaching experience
  • Ask the tutor to mark a past-paper answer live in session one
  • Ask how hand-drawn development pages will be reviewed on screen
  • The school teacher remains the authority on feasibility and on the project
  • AI use is declared under the school's rules, confirmed with the coordinator

What genuinely works over a screen, and what does not?

Start with what works, because it is more of the course than parents assume. A written specification is the best single use of an online session. The tutor puts it on a shared screen, reads it line by line and asks one question of each criterion: how would you test that, and with what. Criteria that cannot answer come out or get rewritten. This is pure argument, it needs no physical presence, and it is the stage that most often decides whether the evaluation at the end of the project has anything to measure against.

Reviewing drawings and CAD works too, with one condition: the student has to prepare. Hand-drawn pages are photographed square-on in decent light and uploaded before the session, not held up to a webcam. CAD files are opened by the student, who drives the model while the tutor talks, because a tutor taking control of the file is one step from editing it and the work must stay the student's own. With that in place a tutor can ask why a wall thickness changed between versions, or why a joint is where it is, and get a real answer rather than a shrug.

Interrogating a test is the third thing a screen does well, and it is the most undervalued. A student writes a criterion saying the handle must not slip when the user's hands are wet, and then records a test that reads 'I tried it and it felt secure'. That is not a test of that criterion: there is no method, no repetition, no recorded measurement and no stated pass condition. Over a screen the tutor and student can rebuild it together into something with a procedure, three repeats and a number, which the student then runs at school under the teacher's supervision. Where a test involves people rather than objects, including interviews and user trials, it goes through the school's own ethical process with the teacher's approval before it happens.

Marking the written theory and running feedback cycles between sessions are the other two. The between-session loop is what makes online worth more than its hourly rate: the student sends a section, the tutor returns comments in writing, and the next call deals only with the comments that were not understood. Over a term that produces far more revised drafts than a weekly conversation ever does, and the written record is something the student can reread in April.

Now the limits, stated plainly. The workshop cannot be taught through a screen, and nobody should try. The making, the machine work and the physical testing happen at school, supervised by the subject teacher and the technician, and an online tutor's only role there is helping plan what each session is for. A tutor who has never seen the student's workshop also cannot judge what is buildable in it, which is why we tell students to photograph the space early: the equipment list on the wall, the benches, the storage, and whatever the technician says is and is not available this year. Those photographs turn an abstract conversation about manufacture into a concrete one. Even then the teacher is the authority on feasibility, and when the tutor's suggestion and the teacher's judgement differ, the teacher wins. A good tutor says that out loud in the first session instead of letting a student discover it the hard way in February.

  • Specification review line by line is the strongest use of an online session
  • Photograph hand-drawn pages square-on and upload before the session
  • The student drives the CAD file; the tutor never takes control of it
  • Rebuild a weak test into a method with repeats and a pass condition
  • Student testing with people goes through the school's ethical process
  • Photograph the school workshop so manufacture talk stops being abstract

Progress, honest limits, and changing an online tutor

Four weeks of online work should leave a visible paper trail, and on this mode you can audit it yourself more easily than with home tuition. Expect a specification whose criteria have test methods attached, two or three marked theory answers with the mark scheme clauses pointed at, and a set of written comments on at least one project section with the student's revision beside it. If after a month the only evidence is that sessions happened, the arrangement is not working, whatever the student says about it being useful.

One term in, the change should be in independence. The student should be arriving at sessions with specific questions rather than waiting to be examined, booking their own workshop time at school with a stated purpose, and able to explain a development decision without reading from a document. Theory marks tend to move in the same period, because the precision the project demands is the precision the papers reward. Across a full examination cycle the realistic pattern is fewer lost weeks and drafts that land before the school's checkpoint rather than after it.

The limits are worth repeating because online tuition is sometimes sold as though it had none. A tutor on a screen does not see the student's desk, does not see the workshop, does not know the school's technician and cannot supervise a single piece of making. A student who needs an adult in the room to start work will not start work for a camera. And a project that has not begun by January of DP2 has lost options that no mode of tuition recovers. We do not guarantee grades, and no honest tutor offers a guaranteed grade.

If the fit is wrong, tell us after two or three sessions and we will change the tutor. It is routine and there is no penalty. Online fit fails differently from home-tuition fit: the usual causes are a tutor who talks for fifty of the sixty minutes, a tutor who never asks the student to share anything, or a connection problem nobody wanted to raise. All three are fixable, and all three are worth raising in week two rather than in week ten.

  • Four weeks: testable specification, marked answers, written comments and a revision
  • One term: the student arrives with questions and books workshop time themselves
  • An online tutor sees neither the desk nor the workshop; that is a real limit
  • A tutor talking for fifty minutes of sixty is the commonest online failure
  • Ask for a different tutor in week two, not in week ten

Booking an online or home tutor for Design Technology in Mumbai

Three things make the first online session worth paying for. Share the project folder, or whatever passes for one, before the call rather than during it. Photograph the sketchbook pages that matter and upload them. And send the school's internal checkpoint dates, because the plan that comes out of the first hour is built backwards from those dates and nothing else. A session that starts with ten minutes of file hunting has lost the part where the diagnosis happens.

The session itself is a diagnosis. The tutor reads what exists, asks the student to talk through the project without the screen in front of them, and the two produce a one-page plan naming the next three deliverables with dates. Parents are welcome for the first and last ten minutes, and in DP1 we suggest it, because the plan only holds if the household knows what it says. Practical details get settled in the same week: a fixed weekly slot in Indian Standard Time, a quiet room with a door, the student's own laptop rather than a shared one, and an agreement on how drafts travel between sessions.

Typing IB tutors near me Mumbai into a phone at midnight returns a list of profiles. What a Design Technology student actually needs is one person who knows the papers, respects the boundary around the project, and reads the draft when it arrives. Tell us your area as well as your preference, because if a home tutor for Design Technology Mumbai parents can book is available near you, we will say so and let you choose the mode rather than choosing it for you.

  • Share the project folder and photographed sketchbook pages before the call
  • Send the school's checkpoint dates; the plan is built backwards from them
  • Expect a diagnostic first session ending in three dated deliverables
  • Fix a weekly slot, a quiet room and the student's own laptop
  • Ask whether a home tutor is available near you before choosing online
FAQs

Mumbai tutoring — questions parents ask

Does online tuition really work for a practical subject like Design Technology?+

Yes, for the assessed parts, which are mostly writing and drawing, and that is what an IB DP Design Technology online tutor in Mumbai is hired for. A screen handles specification review, critique of development reasoning, interrogating whether a test measures what it claims, marking theory scripts against the mark scheme, and written feedback on project sections between sessions. What it cannot handle is the workshop. Making, machine work and physical testing stay at school with the subject teacher and the technician. Families who understand that split are generally satisfied with online; families expecting a tutor to help build something are not, and we tell them so before they book.

How does a tutor review my daughter's hand-drawn development pages on a screen?+

She photographs them and uploads them before the session. Square-on, in daylight or under a desk lamp, one page per image, named by date. Holding a sketchbook up to a webcam does not work and wastes the session. Once the images are shared the tutor can annotate them, point at the exact detail in question and ask why a dimension or a joint changed between versions. Most students need two or three weeks to make the photographing habit automatic, and after that it also leaves a dated visual record of development that is useful at write-up time.

Can an online tutor tell us whether a design is actually buildable at school?+

Not reliably, and this is the honest limit of the mode. A tutor who has never seen your child's workshop does not know what equipment is available, what the technician will sign off, or what the school considers safe for a student to attempt. Ask the student to photograph the workshop early, including the equipment on the wall, and to confirm with the technician what is available this year. Even with photographs, the subject teacher remains the authority on feasibility. Where the tutor's suggestion and the teacher's judgement differ, the teacher decides.

We are in Kharghar. Is travel the reason to choose online over a home tutor?+

Often yes. Navi Mumbai is matched node to node, so a tutor in Vashi or Nerul can reach Kharghar, but Design Technology specialists are scarce and the one who suits your child may live in Borivali. Pulling a tutor across the creek for a weekday evening holds for about a month and then stops holding. Online removes the problem completely. The same logic applies on Ghodbunder Road in Thane and anywhere in the Eastern Suburbs where the journey runs east to west rather than along a line.

Can we do some sessions at home and keep the rest online?+

Yes, and for DP2 students it is what we usually suggest. A fortnightly home session covers drawing work and the long diagnostic conversations, weekly short online reviews cover whatever was written since, and written comments on drafts fill the gaps. Decide the split in the first week rather than drifting into it, and keep the same tutor across both modes so nothing is re-explained. Home tuition does cost more, because the tutor's travel time is real working time, so most families use the home slots for the work that genuinely needs a table.

What if our building has poor internet in the evening?+

Test it before committing to an evening slot, and have a fallback. Run a video call from the room the student will actually use at the time the session will actually run, not from the living room at noon. If it drops, a phone hotspot usually carries voice and a shared document even when video struggles, and audio plus a shared screen is enough for most of this work. Agree with the tutor in advance what happens to a session cut short by connectivity, so nobody is negotiating it mid-call.

Our son's specification says the product must be durable and user-friendly. Is that a problem?+

Yes, because neither can be tested. A criterion is only useful if it names a method and a pass condition: how it will be measured, how many times, and what counts as meeting it. 'Durable' becomes something like a stated number of repeated operations without visible damage, tested at school under supervision. 'User-friendly' becomes a task the named user completes unaided within a stated time. Rewriting a specification line by line is the single best use of an online session, and it usually reduces the number of criteria while making every survivor worth something.

Can the tutor edit the CAD file or the write-up to save time?+

No. The project must be entirely the student's own work, including the drawings, the models and the words. In online sessions the student shares and drives the file while the tutor talks, precisely so the line is never blurred. A tutor may ask why a feature exists, point out that a section does not answer its own heading, or say that an argument is unsupported, and then the student makes the change themselves. Any artificial intelligence use is declared under the school's academic integrity rules, and the coordinator is the person to ask what is permitted.

How do IB tuition fees in Mumbai compare between online and home sessions?+

Online is normally lower for the same tutor, because nobody is paying for travel time. Beyond mode, rates depend on the tutor's IB experience, whether the student is at Higher Level or Standard Level, how scarce the subject is, and session length. Design Technology is scarce in this city, which pushes rates above a common subject regardless of mode. We will not publish a price list we cannot stand behind; ask for the rate alongside the shortlist and compare it against what each tutor has actually taught.

The tutor is good but my child is drifting during online sessions. What do we do?+

Change the structure before changing the tutor. Drift usually means sessions are too long, too passive, or have no deliverable attached. Shorten to forty-five minutes, require something shared at the start, and end with a named piece of work and a date. Ask the tutor to talk less and ask more; a session where the tutor speaks for most of the hour is the commonest online failure and is fixable in one conversation. If nothing changes after two sessions, tell us and we will move you to a different tutor.

What can we expect by the end of DP2?+

Expect better evidence and better decisions, not a promised number. We do not guarantee grades, and no honest tutor offers a guaranteed grade when the project is marked by the school and moderated externally and the papers are marked externally. What consistent online work reliably produces is a testable specification, development reasoning that is defended rather than asserted, tests that measure what they claim, and theory answers shaped to the command term. A student who begins in DP1 has considerably more room than one who begins in January of DP2.

Find your Mumbai tutor

Send us your child's DP year, level, area and the school's checkpoint dates, and say what the sessions are meant to fix. We shortlist two or three verified Design Technology specialists with real weekly availability, and tell you whether a home tutor can also reach you. The first online session is a diagnostic on existing work and ends with three dated deliverables. After two sessions you confirm the tutor or ask for someone else.
