IB DP Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) Online Tutor in Mumbai

If you are looking for an IB DP CAS online tutor in Mumbai, read this before you pay anyone: CAS is not a taught subject, so there is nothing to teach online or in home tuition. We will say so plainly, point you to your school's CAS coordinator, and help with the Diploma subjects CAS is competing with for time.

IB Gram does not tutor CAS and will tell you so on the call
Every CAS authority question goes to your school's CAS coordinator, not us
Home tuition and online help cover Diploma subjects, never CAS reflections
We refuse requests to write reflections or assemble CAS portfolio evidence

What happens when you ask us for an IB DP CAS online tutor in Mumbai

Most enquiries that reach us with the words CAS and tutor in them are not really about CAS. A parent in Chembur writes at eleven at night because a Diploma Programme (DP) Year 2 student has reflections outstanding and an email from school about it. A parent in Khar West writes because the CAS coordinator has asked for evidence and nobody at home is sure what that word covers. A parent in Vashi writes because DP2 has begun, two Internal Assessment (IA) drafts are due in the same fortnight, and the weekly commitment chosen in DP1 now occupies the only free evening in the week. None of those three problems is solved by booking an IB DP CAS online tutor in Mumbai, because Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) is not a taught course. It has no syllabus for anyone to teach from, no papers, and no examiner sitting in Cardiff waiting for a script.

So the process below is mostly a filtering process, and the first thing it filters out is us. We are an independent tutor-matching platform. We match International Baccalaureate (IB) and IGCSE subject tutors for home tuition and online sessions across Mumbai. CAS sits outside that entirely. It is completed with your school's CAS coordinator and the supervisors your school approves, it is not graded, and the reflections in the portfolio are the student's own first-person account of something the student actually did. Nobody outside the student can supply that, and nobody outside the school can rule on whether it is enough.

What we can do, quickly and without charging you for the privilege of being told no, is work out which of the three problems above you actually have, and hand the CAS part back to the person with the authority to answer it. If the answer is that your DP2 student is short on time rather than short on CAS instruction, we will shortlist IB home tutor options for the subject that is slipping. That is a real service with a real deliverable. The CAS part is a conversation, and it belongs with the school.

  • 1. Send the request: say what the student is actually stuck on this week.
  • 2. We reply saying whether CAS tutoring is the wrong thing to buy, usually the same day.
  • 3. We name the person who can answer it: your school's CAS coordinator.
  • 4. If the real problem is academic time, we shortlist two or three subject tutors.
  • 5. You speak to each shortlisted tutor yourself, pick one, and fix a weekly slot.
  • 6. Nothing in the CAS portfolio is ever drafted, edited or supplied by a tutor.

Where does CAS sit in the IB Diploma Programme, and who runs it in Mumbai?

Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) is one of the three core elements of the IB Diploma Programme, alongside the Extended Essay (EE) and Theory of Knowledge (TOK). It runs across both Diploma years rather than finishing in a term, and it is run by your school. The person who runs it is the CAS coordinator, a member of staff at the school your child attends. Whether a given commitment counts, whether the portfolio shows enough, and when each interview happens are all questions for that coordinator. They are not questions an outside tutor can answer, and an outside tutor who answers them anyway is guessing about another institution's requirements.

The structural difference matters because it changes what tutoring can even mean. Six Diploma subjects, three at Higher Level (HL) and three at Standard Level (SL), have published subject guides, defined assessment components and examiners who mark against criteria. A tutor can read the guide, work through past components and raise a student's command of the material. The Extended Essay has a supervisor at school and a word limit and a formal structure, so a subject tutor can at least strengthen the research and writing skills behind it. Theory of Knowledge has an essay and an exhibition that are assessed. CAS has none of that architecture.

The learning outcomes your school lists for CAS describe things a student demonstrates by doing: taking on something unfamiliar, sticking with a commitment over time, working with other people, thinking about the ethics of what they are involved in. Those are demonstrated through the activity itself and recorded in the student's own reflections. There is no content to cover, no past paper to drill, and no model answer that would be honest. A Mumbai family who understands that structure stops looking for a CAS tutor within about five minutes and starts asking better questions of the school instead.

If you want one sentence to take away: in Mumbai, as everywhere the Diploma is taught, CAS is a school-supervised requirement and your school's coordinator is the only authority on it. Confirm every requirement, deadline and format with them, including anything you have read on a tutoring website, this one included.

  • CAS is a core Diploma element, not an examined subject with a syllabus
  • Your school's CAS coordinator is the only authority on its requirements
  • No published guide exists for a tutor to teach CAS content from
  • Reflections are first-person records of what the student personally did
  • Confirm all deadlines and formats with the coordinator, not with a tutor

Can anyone online teach the CAS learning outcomes to a Mumbai student?

No. The learning outcomes are evidenced by what a student does over time, so there is nothing for an online session to deliver. A Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) tutor in Mumbai advertising structured lessons on the learning outcomes is selling you a timetable slot with no content in it. The honest version of that hour is a conversation between the student and the CAS coordinator, who knows the school's expectations, has seen the portfolio and can ask the question that actually opens the reflection up.

Look at what each part of CAS actually requires and the point becomes concrete. The portfolio holds the student's own evidence of their own involvement: what they set out to do, what happened, what they would do differently. A tutor who was not present cannot describe it. The CAS project involves working with others over a sustained period, which depends on who the student works with and what the group decides, and both of those are arranged through the school. The interviews are conversations with the coordinator about the student's own experience, and a student who has genuinely done the work does not need coaching to survive one. A student who has not done the work needs to go and do it, not rehearse answers.

Where students genuinely struggle is in writing reflection rather than in doing activity. A DP1 student in Powai who has coached a junior team all term may still write three flat sentences about it, because reflective writing is an unfamiliar register. The fix is prompts and a real conversation: what did you expect, what surprised you, what did you get wrong first, what did the other people need from you, what would you change. Those prompts come best from the coordinator, who can also say what depth the school is looking for. A parent can ask the same questions over dinner. Neither of those is tutoring, and neither needs to be bought.

What we do sell is subject teaching. Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) IB Diploma Programme (DP), Years 1-2 tutor Mumbai searches land here often, and the useful answer is the same every time: the tutoring you may actually need is in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Biology or English, for the student whose subject grades are sliding while the calendar fills up.

  • Portfolio evidence records the student's own involvement and cannot be outsourced
  • The CAS project is arranged and supervised through the school, not by a tutor
  • Interviews are conversations with the coordinator about the student's own experience
  • Reflective writing improves with prompts and conversation, not with paid lessons
  • Subject tutoring in Maths, Physics, Chemistry or English is the real service here

Where across Mumbai this question comes from, and what we actually send

We take enquiries from every part of Mumbai, Maharashtra, and the CAS question arrives in slightly different clothing from each of the six zones. In South Mumbai, families in Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Walkeshwar, Tardeo and Worli usually have short physical distances and slow journeys: the Peddar Road and Haji Ali signals turn eight kilometres into forty minutes in the evening peak, so an after-school commitment plus a tutor visit on the same weekday is often simply impossible. Online sessions for the academic subject are genuinely useful here, and they free the physical evening for whatever the student has committed to. Metro Line 3 and the Coastal Road have changed some of those calculations; the Western Line from Churchgate and the Harbour Line from CSMT still carry most of the student traffic.

In the Western Suburbs, Bandra, Khar West, Santacruz West, Juhu, Andheri West, Goregaon East, Malad, Kandivali East, Borivali and Dahisar East sit along the Western Express Highway and the Western Line, with Metro Line 1 running east to west and Metro Lines 2A and 7 running north. A Juhu student finishing school at four and reaching home at five has one usable evening block, and an IB DP CAS online tutor in Mumbai would waste it on something that cannot be taught. In the Central Suburbs, Powai and Chandivali hang off JVLR with no station of their own, Kurla and Ghatkopar sit on the Central Line and the SCLR, and travel times here are the main reason families ask about online rather than any preference for screens.

The Eastern Suburbs run from Chembur and Govandi through Vikhroli and Bhandup to Mulund, with the Eastern Express Highway and the Eastern Freeway making South Mumbai far closer from Chembur and Wadala than the map suggests. Navi Mumbai works in nodes: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar, Airoli and Panvel, joined by Palm Beach Road, the Sion Panvel Highway and now the Atal Setu, with the Harbour and Trans-Harbour lines and Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 for students travelling alone. Thane spreads from the station out along Pokhran Road, Majiwada and Ghodbunder Road to Kasarvadavali, and the Ghodbunder stretch sets everyone's schedule.

In all six zones the answer to the CAS part is identical and the answer to the tutoring part is local. We match home tuition within a zone wherever we can, because a tutor crossing the Bandra-Worli Sea Link twice a week at 6pm does not hold the slot for a full term. Where no sensible local match exists, online is the honest alternative for the subject work.

  • South Mumbai: Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Walkeshwar, Tardeo and Worli, short trips but slow
  • Western Suburbs: Bandra, Khar West, Santacruz West, Juhu, Malad, Borivali, Dahisar East
  • Central Suburbs: Powai and Chandivali off JVLR, Kurla and Ghatkopar on the Central Line
  • Eastern Suburbs: Chembur, Govandi, Vikhroli, Bhandup, Mulund and Wadala
  • Navi Mumbai: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar, Airoli and Panvel, matched node to node
  • Thane: Pokhran Road, Majiwada, Ghodbunder Road and Kasarvadavali set the evening timing

How the Mumbai school calendar squeezes CAS, and who sets the rules

Mumbai's IB schools run their Diploma calendar on broadly the same rhythm, and the pressure points are predictable even though the exact dates are not. The academic year opens in June, so DP1 begins in the monsoon and DP2 begins with examinations less than a year away. From roughly November through February, DP2 students in Mumbai are carrying Internal Assessment (IA) work in several subjects at once, with the Extended Essay (EE) and the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) essay landing in the same window. Mock examinations sit in the new year. May examinations close the Diploma. CAS has to keep running underneath all of that, because it spans both years rather than fitting into one free term.

Families here deal with that calendar at schools including Dhirubhai Ambani International School and the American School of Bombay in BKC, Ecole Mondiale World School and Jamnabai Narsee International School in Juhu, Oberoi International School on JVLR in Goregaon East, Cathedral and John Connon School in Fort, Bombay International School at Babulnath, B.D. Somani International School at Cuffe Parade, Aditya Birla World Academy in Tardeo, Hiranandani Foundation School in Powai, NES International School in Mulund West, JBCN International School in Parel, Chembur, Borivali and Oshiwara, Singapore International School in Dahisar East, Thakur International School in Kandivali East, and D.Y. Patil International School in Nerul, Navi Mumbai. IB Gram is an independent platform and is not affiliated with any of those schools, or with the International Baccalaureate organisation. We name them because their calendars are the calendars our tutors work around.

Each of those schools sets its own CAS expectations within the framework the Diploma gives it: when the coordinator wants to see the portfolio, how interviews are scheduled, what a supervisor needs to confirm, which commitments the school will approve. Those expectations differ between a school in Fort and a school in Nerul, and they change from one cohort to the next. This is exactly why a tutor cannot usefully pronounce on them. If you have read somewhere that CAS requires a particular number of hours, a particular duration or a particular evidence format, treat it as unverified until your own school's coordinator confirms it in writing.

One practical consequence of the June start: a family arriving in Mumbai mid-cycle, which happens often in BKC and Powai, inherits a CAS position that is already in progress. The first meeting to ask for is with the CAS coordinator, before any tutoring decision. We can run subject diagnostics in parallel, but the CAS conversation should not wait for us.

  • Academic year opens in June; DP2 begins with examinations under a year away
  • November to February is the heaviest stretch for IA, EE and TOK work together
  • Mock examinations in the new year, May examinations closing the Diploma
  • Each Mumbai school sets its own CAS expectations and interview scheduling
  • IB Gram is independent and not affiliated with any school named here

Home tuition, online or hybrid: which mode makes sense once CAS is off the table?

Home tuition is our lead service and the mode most Mumbai families actually want. A tutor arrives at the flat, works for a fixed block at the student's own desk with their own files open, and a parent can hear how the session goes without sitting in it. Home tuition suits a DP student who needs supervision as much as explanation, who stalls when left alone with a problem set, or who is rebuilding a subject from a weak IGCSE base. The trade-off is travel. A home tutor committing to a weekday evening in Kasarvadavali or Kharghar is committing to the traffic as well, which is why we match within a zone and why a cancelled slot is harder to move to another day.

Online is the right mode when the clock is the constraint rather than the concentration. It removes the tutor's travel completely, which usually means you can hold a 7.30pm slot on a weekday that no travelling tutor could reach, and it opens up a scarce subject teacher who lives nowhere near you. For a student in Dahisar East who needs a specific HL subject that has one or two strong teachers in the city, online is often the only honest option. It demands more of the student: a quiet room, a screen the tutor can actually see work on, and the self-discipline to stay in the session. For an IB DP CAS online tutor in Mumbai specifically, none of those trade-offs apply, because the service does not exist. Nothing in CAS can be delivered down a video call.

Hybrid works well across both Diploma years: fortnightly home tuition for the longer diagnostic sessions, online for the short targeted ones between them. A common pattern for a DP2 student is one home visit at the weekend to go through written work on paper, plus a half-hour online session midweek to clear whatever blocked them. That shape protects the weekday evenings a student needs for a CAS commitment, which is usually the real reason the family started searching.

Whichever mode you pick, the boundary stays the same. IB home tuition in Mumbai through us covers examined subjects. It does not cover drafting reflections, building a portfolio, or advising you on whether your school will accept something. Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) home classes Mumbai parents ask about simply are not a product we or anybody honest can sell.

  • Home tuition: best for supervision, written work on paper, rebuilding a weak base
  • Online: removes travel, opens scarce HL subject teachers, needs a quiet room
  • Hybrid: weekend home visit plus a short midweek online session works well in DP2
  • Online sessions protect the weekday evenings a CAS commitment needs
  • No mode delivers CAS itself: home, online and hybrid all cover examined subjects only

How we check tutors in Mumbai, and what you should check yourself

Every tutor on the platform is checked before we put them in front of a family, and the checks are deliberately boring. We confirm identity against a government photo identity document. We confirm the qualification claimed, by certificate rather than by assertion. We ask what they have actually taught, at which level and board, and for how long, and we look for the gap between IGCSE experience and genuine Diploma experience, because teaching HL Chemistry to a DP2 class is a different job from teaching Grade 10. We take references from families or schools where they exist. We run a short subject conversation with someone who knows the subject, because a candidate who cannot talk fluently about assessment criteria has not worked with them recently.

There is one extra check that applies to this page. Any tutor who offers to write reflections, draft portfolio entries, assemble evidence or coach a student through a CAS interview with prepared answers is removed. That is not a quality judgement, it is a conduct one. A fabricated reflection is worthless to the student, it misrepresents them to their own school, and it puts a Diploma candidate at risk for no benefit. If anyone offering an IB DP CAS online tutor in Mumbai service tells you they can get the portfolio sorted, that is the moment to stop the conversation, whoever they are and whatever they charge.

Now the part you should do yourself, because our checks do not replace your judgement. Ask any tutor which boards and levels they have taught in the last two years, and for which subjects specifically. Ask them to describe how one assessment component in that subject is marked. Ask them directly what they will not help with, and listen for whether CAS, the Extended Essay and Internal Assessment drafting come up on their own. A tutor who volunteers the boundary before you ask has worked properly inside the Diploma. Be wary of anyone who promises a specific grade by a specific month: the work is the student's, and IB Gram does not guarantee grades.

Finally, check the ordinary things. Confirm who is actually coming to the flat for a home tuition slot, confirm it is the same person each week, and tell your society office the name in advance. For online, check the tutor shares their screen and can see the student's written work, not just their face.

  • Identity confirmed against a government photo identity document
  • Qualifications confirmed by certificate, with board and level experience recorded
  • A subject conversation with someone who knows the assessment criteria
  • Any offer to produce CAS reflections or evidence removes a tutor from the platform
  • Ask every tutor what they will not help with, and listen for the boundary

You searched for an IB DP CAS online tutor in Mumbai: what were you actually worried about?

In our experience this search comes from one of three worries, and each has a different honest answer. The first is a student behind on reflections. The portfolio is thin, weeks have passed, and the student freezes every time they open it. This is a writing and momentum problem, not a knowledge problem. What works is sitting with the student for twenty minutes and asking plain questions about something they actually did, then having them write the answers in their own words, badly, immediately. The coordinator can say what depth the school expects and can often supply prompts the school already uses. A paid tutor adds nothing here except a bill, and a tutor who adds words to the reflection has made the problem much worse than late.

The second worry is a coordinator asking for evidence. Parents read that email as an accusation and panic. Usually it means something much smaller: the school needs a record that the student was involved in what they say they were involved in, confirmed by the supervisor the school approved. The right response is to ask the coordinator precisely what form they want it in and by when, in one short email. Do not improvise a format, do not pad the portfolio with photographs of unrelated events, and do not approach an outside organisation yourself to arrange something new. Approval and safeguarding for any placement, volunteering or project run through the school, and a commitment the student arranges privately may not be accepted at all.

The third worry is the one we can genuinely help with: a DP2 timetable with no room left. Six subjects, Internal Assessment deadlines stacking through the Mumbai winter, a TOK essay, an Extended Essay, and a CAS commitment that has to continue through all of it. Families look at the CAS block and think a tutor could absorb it. The arithmetic actually works the other way. The subject that is slipping is the one to buy help for, because an hour of focused subject teaching returns more usable time than an hour spent trying to compress something that is not compressible. Parents searching IB tutors near me Mumbai in that state usually need one tutor in one subject, starting this week, not a package.

Searching for the best IB tutor in Mumbai is the wrong move at this point for a fourth reason: it starts a comparison exercise when what the household needs is a decision. Pick the weakest subject, book one tutor, protect the CAS evening, and email the coordinator today. That sequence costs nothing to start and resolves most of what sent you to Google.

  • Behind on reflections: prompts, a conversation and the student's own words, fast
  • Coordinator asking for evidence: one short email asking exactly what form and when
  • Never arrange a placement or project with an outside organisation yourself
  • No room in the DP2 timetable: buy help for the slipping subject, not for CAS
  • One tutor in one subject starting this week beats a long comparison exercise

What progress looks like in Mumbai at four weeks, one term and one exam cycle

Since the CAS part of this page ends in a referral, the honest promises here are about the subject tutoring we do provide. At four weeks, with roughly four sessions done, you should see mechanical change rather than grade change: homework going in on time, a student who can explain what a question is asking before attempting it, fewer blank starts. The tutor should be able to tell you in two sentences what the specific weakness is. If after a month nobody can name the weakness, the match is wrong and you should say so rather than wait politely for the term to end.

At one term, around twelve weeks, you should see movement in school assessments and in the student's own confidence about a particular paper or component. For a DP2 student in Mulund or Vikhroli, that often shows up as an Internal Assessment draft submitted on the first requested date rather than the third. It will not look like a smooth line. A student can go backwards in a mock examination and still be in better shape, because mocks are often marked harder deliberately. What matters is whether the error pattern has changed.

At one exam cycle, the result is the result, and we have no control over it. IB Gram does not guarantee grades, and no honest tutor in Mumbai will tell you otherwise. The variables that actually decide a Diploma outcome are how much independent work the student does, how well they manage the examination itself, and where they started. A tutor can change the first of those a little and the preparation substantially. Anybody quoting you a specific points improvement is making it up, and should be the easiest tutor to rule out on your shortlist.

On CAS, the only progress measure that means anything is the coordinator's view. Ask the coordinator at a fixed interval, not us, and not a tutor. If they say the portfolio is on track, it is on track regardless of what any outside tutor thinks. If they say it is not, their instruction is the only one worth following. We will say the same thing in month one and month nine: that question has one correct address, and it is inside the school.

  • Four weeks: homework submitted on time, the weakness named in two sentences
  • One term: movement in school assessments, drafts submitted on the first date asked
  • One exam cycle: the outcome depends mostly on independent work and exam technique
  • A mock can dip while the error pattern genuinely improves
  • On CAS progress, the coordinator's view is the only one that counts

What to prepare before your first home tuition or online session in Mumbai

Two separate actions, and they do not depend on each other. The CAS action is an email to your school's CAS coordinator today, which is short: where the student currently stands, what the school needs next, by when, and in what format. Send it before you do anything else, because a delay there costs far more than a delay in booking a tutor. Ask for a brief meeting if the reply is unclear. Write down whatever the coordinator says, including deadlines, and treat that written note as the only source of truth about CAS in your household. Nothing on any tutoring site, this page included, overrides it.

The tutoring action is a request to us naming the subject, the level, the zone and one concrete example of what is going wrong. We will come back with a shortlist of two or three verified tutors for an IB home tutor in Mumbai slot at home, or an online slot if travel or scarcity makes that sensible. Have three things ready for the first session: the last two pieces of marked school work, the student's own account of which topic they dread, and a fixed weekly time that genuinely survives contact with the school calendar. A slot that only works in a quiet week is not a slot.

The first session is diagnostic and should feel unglamorous. The tutor works through recent errors with the student, separates careless slips from genuine gaps, and ends by naming the two or three topics the next month will attack. You should get that summary from the tutor, in writing or on a short call, within a day. If the tutor cannot name the gaps after an hour with the student's own marked work in front of them, replace them. We will send a different shortlist without an argument about it.

If after all of this you decide you do not need to hire anybody, that is a perfectly good outcome and the one many families on this page reach. A conversation with the coordinator, a protected evening and the student's own reflections written honestly will settle most CAS worries. Come back when a subject starts slipping, which is the problem we are actually built for.

  • Email the CAS coordinator today: position, next step, deadline, format
  • Send us the subject, level, zone and one concrete example of the problem
  • Have the last two marked pieces of school work ready for session one
  • Pick a weekly slot that survives a busy school week, not a quiet one
  • Expect a written summary of the diagnosis within a day of the first session
FAQs

Mumbai tutoring — questions parents ask

Can I actually book an IB DP CAS online tutor in Mumbai through IB Gram?+

No, and we would rather say so on this page than on an invoice. We do not provide tutoring for Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), because it has no syllabus, no examiner and nothing a tutor could teach. An IB DP CAS online tutor in Mumbai is not a service we offer or recommend buying from anyone else. What we do book is home tuition and online sessions in examined Diploma subjects: Mathematics, the sciences, Economics, Business Management, English and the language subjects. If you ask us for CAS help, we will send you to your school's CAS coordinator and ask whether a subject is also slipping.

Will a tutor travel to our building in Powai for an evening session instead?+

Yes, for subject tutoring, and Powai is one of our easier areas to staff for home tuition. Tutors reach Powai and Chandivali by road from Andheri East, Kanjurmarg or Ghatkopar because there is no station in Powai itself, so a 7pm slot usually means the tutor leaves well before six. Give us the society name and the gate requirements when you ask, and we will match a tutor whose own commute makes that slot sustainable for a full term rather than a fortnight. None of that changes the CAS answer: the visit covers subject work only.

My son is behind on his CAS reflections. Can someone online help him catch up?+

Someone can help him think, but nobody should help him write. Reflections are his own first-person account of his own experience, so the only person who can produce them is him. The fastest route is a short conversation using plain prompts: what did you expect, what actually happened, what went wrong first, what would you do differently. Your school's CAS coordinator can supply the prompts the school uses and say what depth is expected. A paid tutor adds a cost and no content. Anyone offering to produce the reflections for him should be refused outright.

The CAS coordinator has asked us for evidence. What should we send?+

Ask the coordinator exactly what form they want it in, in one short email, and send only that. Evidence requirements are set by your school, not by the IB organisation in general terms and certainly not by us, so any format we suggested could be wrong for your child's school. Do not pad a portfolio with unrelated photographs, and do not create anything after the fact. If a supervisor at an approved activity needs to confirm something, the coordinator will tell you who and how. Keep the written reply from the coordinator; it is the only reliable record of what was asked.

Is there any home tuition for CAS at all in Mumbai, from anyone?+

People advertise it, and we think you should not buy it. Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) home classes Mumbai parents ask about have no content to teach, so the hour gets filled with either generic advice about reflective writing or, worse, with a tutor drafting material that is supposed to be the student's own. Both are a waste of money and the second is a real risk to a Diploma candidate. A home tutor for Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) Mumbai families imagine hiring does not exist in any useful form. Spend the same money on the subject that is slipping instead.

Does CAS affect my daughter's Diploma result?+

CAS is not graded and contributes no points, but it is a requirement of the IB Diploma Programme that your school expects to see completed to its satisfaction. That is why the coordinator chases it even though no mark attaches to it. What completion means in practice at your daughter's school, and what happens if the portfolio is behind, are questions only her CAS coordinator can answer, and you should ask them directly rather than relying on anything you read online. We do not interpret another institution's requirements for families, because getting it wrong would be worse than saying we do not know.

What do IB tuition fees in Mumbai usually depend on?+

Fees depend on board, level, subject scarcity, travel and session length, and we will not quote a figure here because any number we invented would mislead you. Higher Level sciences and Mathematics cost more than Standard Level humanities because fewer tutors can teach them well. A tutor travelling to Kharghar or Kasarvadavali in evening traffic prices that time in, which is one reason online sessions often cost less than a home visit. Longer fortnightly sessions and short weekly ones price differently. Ask each shortlisted tutor for their rate directly and compare like with like.

Can a home tutor reach Kasarvadavali on Ghodbunder Road for a weekday evening slot?+

Usually yes, if the tutor already lives in Thane. Ghodbunder Road is the deciding factor: a tutor near Thane station reaches Kasarvadavali in about twenty minutes off-peak and takes close to an hour in the evening peak, so we match Thane residents to Thane addresses rather than sending someone across from Mulund or Powai. Pokhran Road and Majiwada are easier. For the hardest slots we suggest hybrid: one home visit at the weekend plus a short online session midweek, which holds up better across a whole term than an ambitious weekday commitment.

Someone offered to write my son's CAS reflections for a fee. Should we use them?+

No. Refuse, and tell the school if the offer came through a channel the school would want to know about. A reflection written by someone else describes an experience they did not have, which makes it both useless to your son and a misrepresentation to his own school. The risk sits entirely with the candidate, not with the person who took the money. This is the single clearest line on this page: nobody should produce CAS reflections, portfolio entries or evidence for a student, and any tutor or agency offering it has told you what they are.

We start DP2 in June and almost nothing has been logged. Is it too late?+

Probably not, but the person who can tell you is the CAS coordinator and the right time to ask is this week. CAS runs across both Diploma years, so a thin DP1 record is recoverable more often than parents fear, provided the student starts recording honestly now rather than reconstructing the past year. Ask the coordinator what the school needs first and in what order. While that happens, look hard at whether a subject is also slipping, because the Mumbai winter stretch from November to February is when an untreated subject gap turns into a real problem.

Does online tutoring genuinely work for DP Maths and Physics?+

Yes, with two conditions. The student needs a quiet room and a way for the tutor to see written work, not just a face on a screen, because marking a worked solution matters more than talking about it. An IB online tutor in Mumbai arrangement also needs the student to stay in the session, which some fifteen-year-olds manage and some do not. For a student who drifts without someone in the room, home tuition is the better spend. For a scarce HL subject, or for a family in Dahisar East or Panvel with no local specialist, online is often the only realistic option.

Our society in Kharghar needs a visitor gate pass. How does that work for a tutor?+

Tell us the society's rule when you send the enquiry and we will set it up properly from the first week. Most Navi Mumbai complexes in Kharghar, Nerul and Belapur will register a recurring visitor if a resident confirms the name and the weekly slot in advance, which avoids the tutor standing at the gate every week. Confirm the same person comes each time, since a substitute will not be on the list. An IB private tutor Mumbai arrangement works best when the gate, the slot and the room are settled before the first session rather than negotiated during it.

Find your Mumbai tutor

Two emails settle most of this. Write to your school's CAS coordinator today with where the student stands and what the school needs next, and send us the subject, level and zone if an examined subject is slipping. We reply with two or three verified tutors for a home or online slot, you speak to each one yourself, and nothing in the CAS portfolio is ever touched by a tutor. If the honest answer is that you need nobody, we will say that too.
