IB DP Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) Home Tutor in Mumbai

Searching for an IB DP CAS home tutor in Mumbai usually means a parent wants to help and does not know how. There is useful work to do at home, and none of it is tutoring. IB Gram does not tutor CAS and would not charge for any of this. Creativity, Activity, Service is completed with your school's coordinator, and the reflections have to be your child's own.

What we actually do when you ask for an IB DP CAS home tutor in Mumbai

A parent writing to us for an IB DP CAS home tutor in Mumbai gets a reply the same day that contains no shortlist. We do not match anybody for Creativity, Activity, Service, and the reason is not caution about rules. It is that the job you are trying to hire for does not exist. There is no lesson a visiting adult can deliver at your dining table about your daughter's dance class, her Sunday coaching or the project her class group is running, because the content of CAS is her own experience and the judgement about it belongs to her school's CAS coordinator.

What the reply does contain is a division of labour, because there genuinely is work and some of it is yours. The school owns approval, review dates and the completion decision. The student owns choosing commitments, turning up, logging evidence and writing reflections. The parent owns a narrow and real set of things: noticing, prompting, making the logistics of a weekly commitment survivable, and asking the one question at the right moment. That last column is what the rest of this page is about, and it is unpaid work that no home tutor should be sitting in your flat doing instead of you.

Families often push back here, reasonably. They say their child will not do it without somebody appointed to make her. Sometimes that is true, and the honest answer is still not a CAS tutor; it is a conversation with the coordinator about why a sixteen-year-old is disengaged, which is occasionally about CAS and more often about the subject load underneath it. If a student is drowning in Mathematics every evening, CAS is the first thing she drops, and the fix is in Mathematics.

So the sequence is short, and only the last step involves paying anybody for anything.

  • 1. We tell you plainly that we do not match CAS tutors
  • 2. You split the work: school owns approval, student owns the doing
  • 3. The parent takes the noticing, prompting and logistics
  • 4. Email the coordinator about anything the school decides
  • 5. Hire a tutor only for an examined subject that is genuinely failing

CAS is not a subject, so there is no home lesson to give

In the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) the three core elements are the Extended Essay (EE), Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS). The first two are assessed and contribute to the score. CAS is not assessed at all. There is no examiner, no mark, no grade boundary and no criteria grid, and completion is decided inside the school by the CAS coordinator in conversation with the student. Strip those away and nothing remains that a tutor could prepare a student for, which is the structural reason this category of service should not exist.

Compare it with an examined subject for a moment, because the contrast is the clearest way to see it. Physics at Higher Level (HL) has a subject guide, defined content, papers and an Internal Assessment with published criteria. A tutor reads the same document the teacher reads, finds the gap between the student and the standard, and teaches into it. You can check whether that worked. CAS has no document describing what your child should have done, because the right answer differs for every student. A Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) tutor in Mumbai would be teaching towards a standard nobody has written.

Each school then layers its own CAS handbook on top of the IB documentation: how evidence is recorded, how often reflections are expected, what the coordinator wants to see at each review and how the collaborative CAS project is approved. Those details differ between Mumbai schools, sometimes between year groups in the same school, and they change. Your coordinator is the authority on your school's version, and anything a website tells you about requirements, including this one, should be checked there before you act on it.

This also explains the one thing parents find hardest to accept. There is no way to verify CAS progress from outside the school. You cannot buy an assessment of it, because no such assessment exists. What you can do at home is see whether your child is actually doing things and actually writing them down, which turns out to be the entire question.

  • CAS is a core DP element that carries no marks and no examiner
  • Completion is a school decision made with the student
  • No subject guide, so no standard a tutor could teach towards
  • Each school's CAS handbook adds its own recording and review rules
  • CAS progress cannot be assessed or verified from outside the school

What can a parent at home usefully do about CAS?

Four things, and they take about twenty minutes a week in total. Notice: know what your child is actually doing this term, by name, without running it. Prompt: ask the question that makes her think, then stop talking. Protect the logistics: make the weekly commitment physically possible from your address, which in this city is mostly a travel problem. Watch for drift: spot the point at which a real commitment has turned into attendance. None of that is tutoring, none of it needs a stranger in the house, and nobody should be charging for it.

Start with planning a two-year commitment, which is where a parent adds the most value and does the most damage. The value is in asking durability questions a sixteen-year-old does not naturally ask. Can this survive June, when it rains for a week? Can it survive the fortnight of mock examinations? What happens to it if the person running it moves away? Does it depend on you driving her? Those questions are legitimately an adult's contribution, because they come from having watched plans fail. The damage is in answering them for her. A commitment she chose badly and then fixed is worth more to her than a flawless one you selected.

The prompting discipline is specific. Ask about the gap between what she expected and what happened, because that gap is where reflection lives. What did you think it would be like? What surprised you? What went wrong? What did the younger kids actually do when you tried that? Then say nothing while she works out the answer, which for a tired teenager at nine at night can take a slow thirty seconds. Most parents fill that silence, and filling it is where prompting turns into supplying.

What you should not do is an equally short list: do not sign anybody up, do not email a supervisor on her behalf, do not build the portfolio, do not tidy her sentences, and do not keep the log for her. Every one of those feels helpful and each removes something she needs to be able to describe in a coordinator interview.

  • Notice what she is doing by name, without running any of it
  • Ask durability questions: June, mocks, a supervisor leaving, your car
  • Prompt the expectation gap, then stay quiet while she answers
  • Keep the logistics possible from your own address
  • Do not sign up, email supervisors, build portfolios or tidy sentences

Mumbai by zone: planning a commitment close to home

The most useful thing a Mumbai parent does for CAS has nothing to do with the programme and everything to do with distance. A commitment within walking distance, inside the society, or on the student's own school route survives two years. One that requires a weekday evening crossing does not, and when it stops the reflections stop with it. This is why nobody needs an IB DP CAS home tutor in Mumbai but everybody needs a map. In the Western Suburbs, a student in Khar West or Santacruz West can hold a fixed slot in her own neighbourhood for two years, and Metro Lines 2A and 7 plus the Western Line make a Malad, Kandivali, Borivali or Dahisar student genuinely independent of a parent's car. The same student asked to cross the Western Express Highway from Juhu to Goregaon at 6pm will be driven twice and then stop.

In South Mumbai the distances are tiny and the clock is unforgiving. Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Churchgate, Walkeshwar, Tardeo, Worli and Peddar Road are minutes apart on paper, and the Haji Ali and Peddar Road signals can turn eight kilometres into forty minutes in the evening peak. The Coastal Road has helped the Worli to Nariman Point leg, and Metro Line 3 towards the Bandra Kurla Complex has opened up a school-linked commitment for island-city students who previously needed a driver. Many SoBo families solve this inside the building: towers here have clubhouses, music rooms and residents' groups, and a commitment that starts in the lift lobby loses nothing to traffic.

In the Central Suburbs, Powai and Chandivali hang off JVLR with no station of their own, while Kurla, Ghatkopar and Vikhroli sit on the Central Line and the Eastern Express Highway, so a Powai student's realistic radius is Powai. The Eastern Suburbs run from Chembur and Wadala through Govandi and Bhandup to Mulund, with the Eastern Freeway and the Monorail making the island city closer than it looks, which matters for a weekend commitment and not for a Tuesday one. Navi Mumbai is the easiest city in the region for this: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel are nodes, Palm Beach Road and the Belapur to Pendhar metro make short hops trivial, and the Atal Setu is a weekend asset rather than a weekday one. Thane runs from the station out along Pokhran Road and Majiwada to Ghodbunder Road, where a twenty-minute off-peak run becomes an hour in the evening, so Thane families should keep commitments west of Majiwada or make them weekend ones.

Mumbai, Maharashtra rewards the parent who plans for the worst week of the year rather than the best. Pick for June, for the fortnight of mocks, and for the evening you are stuck in a meeting. If you also want an IB home tutor in Mumbai for an examined subject, we apply exactly the same rule and match within the zone.

  • Western Suburbs: Khar West, Santacruz West, Juhu, Malad, Borivali, Dahisar
  • South Mumbai: Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Worli, Tardeo, Walkeshwar, Peddar Road
  • Central Suburbs: Powai, Chandivali, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli
  • Eastern Suburbs: Chembur, Wadala, Govandi, Bhandup, Mulund
  • Navi Mumbai: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar, Panvel
  • Thane: Pokhran Road, Majiwada, Ghodbunder Road, Kasarvadavali

The Mumbai school year as a parent sees it from home

Parents experience the CAS calendar as a series of emails they do not fully understand, so it helps to know roughly when they arrive and what each one means. Schools across the city run their own handbooks and their own review intervals, and the list of them is long: Dhirubhai Ambani International School, the American School of Bombay and Ascend International School in the Bandra Kurla Complex, Ecole Mondiale World School, Jamnabai Narsee International School and Utpal Shanghvi Global School in Juhu, Oberoi International School off JVLR in Goregaon East, Aditya Birla World Academy in Tardeo, B.D. Somani International School in Cuffe Parade, the Cathedral and John Connon School in Fort, Bombay International School at Babulnath, Hiranandani Foundation School in Powai, NES International School in Mulund West, the JBCN International School campuses in Parel, Borivali, Oshiwara and Chembur, Singapore International School in Dahisar East, Thakur International School in Kandivali East, Witty International School in Malad and Chembur and D.Y. Patil International School in Nerul.

The first email, early in DP1, is about choosing and approving commitments. Read this one properly, because it is the only point at which your input changes anything structural. The second kind, later in DP1, asks for reflections or a first review, and it is the moment you discover whether your child has been logging anything. The third kind arrives in DP2 and tends to be sharper in tone, because the coordinator can now see which students have a trail and which have a folder with four photographs in it. The last kind, near the end, is about completion, and by then a parent's influence is close to zero.

The seasons matter as much as the emails. The weeks after Diwali in DP2 are when subject deadlines, the Extended Essay and mock examinations arrive together and everything optional gets dropped. The pre-monsoon weeks are when outdoor commitments should be re-planned rather than abandoned. The examination study period is when a student with a two-year habit simply keeps going with a two-minute log and a student without one loses the thread entirely.

IB Gram is an independent platform and is not affiliated with any school named here, nor with the International Baccalaureate organisation. We list these schools because their calendars are what you are living with at home. For the examined subjects we do arrange tutoring in, we do not guarantee grades, and nobody on the platform is permitted to contact a school on your behalf.

  • Early DP1 email: commitments chosen and approved, your only structural input
  • Late DP1 review: you find out whether anything has been logged
  • DP2 emails are sharper because the coordinator can see the trail
  • Post-Diwali DP2: subject deadlines, the EE and mocks arrive together
  • Re-plan outdoor commitments before the monsoon, do not drop them

Home tuition, online and hybrid: what IB Gram does charge for in Mumbai

Since people reach this page looking for an IB DP CAS home tutor in Mumbai, here is the line between what we sell and what we do not. We arrange home tuition for examined Diploma subjects: an IB home tutor in Mumbai who comes to your flat for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business Management, Psychology, English or a Group 2 language. IB home tuition in Mumbai works for those because a guide, criteria and papers exist, so you can tell whether it is working. We do not sell Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) home classes Mumbai parents occasionally ask for by name, and we will say so rather than quietly booking something adjacent.

Online is the right call for scarce subjects and for the weeks when nobody can cross the city. An IB online tutor in Mumbai for Film, Music, Theatre or a less common language is usually a better teacher than whoever is geographically convenient, and screen sharing handles written work and problem sets perfectly well. Hybrid is where most long arrangements end up: a tutor in the flat for the sessions that need paper, pencil and a whiteboard, with short online check-ins in between. For a Borivali or Dahisar family that replaces two highway crossings a week with one.

The reason this distinction belongs on a CAS page is that the two things compete for the same evening. A student with a subject genuinely out of control has no attention left for a weekly commitment, and CAS is the first casualty. Fixing the subject is therefore the only paid intervention that helps CAS, and it helps by returning the student's evenings rather than by touching CAS at all.

Nobody we match will write a reflection, assemble a portfolio, suggest what to say in a coordinator interview, confirm hours, or produce a letter about work a student did not do. If a tutor already in your home for Chemistry offers to help with the CAS portfolio while they are there, the answer is no, and it is worth telling us, because that offer tells us something about the tutor we need to know.

  • We charge for examined DP subjects, at home, online or hybrid
  • We do not sell CAS sessions, CAS home classes or CAS packages
  • Online suits scarce subjects; hybrid cuts highway crossings
  • Fixing a failing subject is the only paid help that reaches CAS
  • Tell us if a subject tutor offers CAS help while in your home

Who should you let into your home, and who should you turn away?

Turn away anyone who offers to do CAS. That is the shortest verification rule on any page we publish, and it needs no judgement about qualifications. A person who says they can get CAS signed off, supply reflection templates, build a portfolio, provide certificates confirming hours, or arrange activities with documentation is offering to put your child's name on work she did not do. Anyone offering to produce CAS reflections or CAS evidence should be refused, and if they reached you through an agency, tell the school's coordinator that the offer was made. Say no where your child can hear it; that is the most useful five seconds of parenting available on this subject.

For the tutors you do hire, for the examined subjects, the platform checks what can be checked before you meet anybody: identity, the qualifications claimed, references where they have worked with a school or an institute, and subject-by-subject clearance rather than a self-declared ability to teach every group in the Diploma. A tutor who tells us at interview that they handle CAS portfolios does not get on the platform, because that answer is disqualifying on its own.

Then there is the part that is specific to somebody coming into your flat every week. Meet them at the first session rather than handing over the slot and closing a door. Work in a room with a door open and other people in the house. Register a standing weekly entry with the society office, in the tutor's name and number, so the gate is a formality and not a negotiation that eats ten minutes. Agree in advance what happens to a session missed in the monsoon and who pays for it. And be wary of a tutor who offers a guaranteed grade, because an honest one will talk about what the student needs to be able to do instead.

IB Gram is an independent platform, not affiliated with any school, and we do not guarantee grades. We also do not bill for anything on this page, because none of it is a service.

  • Refuse every offer to produce CAS reflections, evidence or hour certificates
  • Say no in front of your child and tell the coordinator if an agency was involved
  • Identity, qualifications and references checked; clearance is per subject
  • Meet the tutor yourself; keep the door open and the house occupied
  • Register a standing society gate entry and agree monsoon cancellations

What is the difference between prompting a reflection and writing one?

Prompting ends with a question mark and silence. Writing ends with a sentence your child did not produce. Between those two there is a slope, and almost every well-meaning parent in Mumbai slides down part of it. Prompting is: what did you expect, what actually happened, what would you do differently. Shaping is: well, you could say that you learned about teamwork. Dictating is: write that the experience taught you patience. Writing is doing it on her laptop while she showers. The first is help. The second has already taken her thought away from her, and by the third the words in the portfolio are yours, which makes the portfolio false whatever the intention was.

A worked example. A DP1 student in Andheri has been coaching badminton to younger children at her society for two months and her log says it was fun. A prompting parent asks what happened the day the youngest child cried, whether her plan for that session worked, and what she did about the two kids who would not listen. She then writes four awkward sentences about losing control of a group, which is real reflection and would be recognised instantly by any coordinator. A shaping parent suggests she write that she developed leadership and communication skills, and gets a sentence that could describe any student in the city and tells the coordinator nothing. The second version reads better and is worth less.

This connects to the deeper failure on this page, which is the parent who organises everything. In a city where parents routinely arrange, drive, schedule and follow up, it is natural to set CAS up properly: find the commitment, speak to the supervisor, fix the timings, remind her on Tuesdays. The result is a student who attended two years of something and has nothing of her own to reflect on. Reflection requires decisions, and decisions require that she made them, including the bad ones. A student who chose a commitment, found it did not work, and switched after talking to her coordinator has more to write about than one who executed a perfect plan she had no part in making.

There is one thing to be absolutely rigid about. Never arrange a placement or project with an outside organisation yourself, independently of the school. This is not about paperwork, it is safeguarding: schools vet where students go, who supervises them and what the arrangements are, because a sixteen-year-old is going somewhere unfamiliar. Take every idea, however promising, to the coordinator and let the school set it up. A home tutor for Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) Mumbai agencies advertise sometimes offers to handle exactly this; that offer is a reason to end the conversation.

  • Prompting ends in a question mark; writing ends in your sentence
  • The slope runs prompt, shape, dictate, write, and most parents slide
  • Specific awkward sentences beat fluent generic ones every time
  • A parent who organises everything leaves nothing to reflect on
  • Never set up an outside placement yourself; the school vets and arranges

How do you tell when CAS has become box-ticking?

There are four signs and you can check all of them in one conversation. She cannot tell you anything that happened at the commitment this month, only that she went. The language in her log has gone generic, full of teamwork and communication and nothing anybody could picture. Everything in the portfolio was entered in the week before a review date rather than across the term. And she talks about CAS entirely in terms of what the school needs, never in terms of what she is doing. One of those is a bad patch. All four together means the commitment has become attendance.

The repair is not more supervision. It is a choice, made by her, in conversation with the coordinator: continue honestly, change the commitment, or change what she does inside it. Coordinators are usually far more open to a switch than students expect, and a student who says a commitment is not working and proposes something else is demonstrating exactly the kind of initiative the programme is interested in. A parent's role here is to notice and to say so once, not to decide the outcome.

On what to expect by when: at four weeks of a new habit, something should get logged every week without a reminder from you, in two minutes, on her phone, the same day. At one term, her portfolio should read as a continuous trail rather than three clusters around review deadlines, and she should be able to describe one thing that went wrong. By one full examination cycle she has carried a commitment through a monsoon and a mock season, which is the real test, and the coordinator interview becomes a short conversation rather than an interrogation.

The limits, said plainly. Only the school can confirm completion; no parent and no outsider can. Nothing recovers two years of unrecorded experience honestly. There is no best IB tutor in Mumbai for any of this because it is not a tutoring problem, and parents who search IB tutors near me Mumbai hoping to outsource it are trying to buy something nobody can sell. A Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) IB Diploma Programme (DP), Years 1-2 tutor Mumbai providers advertise is, at best, a paid version of a conversation you can have for free.

  • Four signs: no detail, generic language, clustered entries, school-first framing
  • Repair is a choice she makes with her coordinator, not more supervision
  • Four weeks: logged weekly, unprompted, on her phone, the same day
  • One term: a continuous trail and one thing she can say went wrong
  • Only the school confirms completion; nobody outside it can

None of this is tutoring, and no Mumbai family should pay for it

Here is the whole home routine, and the reason we would not invoice for it: it takes twenty minutes a week and consists of asking, noticing and driving less than you want to. Set up one shared note on her phone with three fields, date, what happened, one sentence about it. Agree a fixed moment to fill it, Friday after school works better than the weekend because the week is still fresh. Ask about one commitment a fortnight, using the expectation gap rather than a progress check. And read the coordinator's emails yourself rather than relying on a teenager to summarise them.

Four things to stop doing, which matter more than anything on the list above. Stop driving her to a commitment that only exists because you drive her. Stop editing her sentences, including the clumsy ones, especially the clumsy ones. Stop emailing supervisors. Stop asking whether CAS is done, because the question invites a yes and teaches her that the record matters more than the doing. Replace it with what did you do and what was it like.

If you want to spend money usefully, spend it where there is something to buy. Write to us with the examined subject that is actually in trouble, the level, where she is going wrong and the evenings she is genuinely free, and you will get two or three tutors with the subject taught, the zone they cover and their real availability. You speak to them before anything is booked, the first session is a trial, and a swap costs nothing. An honest IB private tutor Mumbai parents keep for two years will also tell you to handle CAS yourselves, and IB tuition fees in Mumbai should never include a line for it. A good IB tutor Mumbai families trust says no to work that is not theirs.

To be unambiguous one last time: IB Gram does not tutor CAS, we will not quote for it, and we will not write reflections or build evidence for anybody at any price. Anyone who offers to should be refused, and your child's coordinator should hear about it. CAS belongs to your daughter and her school, and that is not a gap in anybody's service.

  • One shared note, three fields, a fixed Friday moment to fill it
  • Ask about one commitment a fortnight using the expectation gap
  • Stop driving, editing, emailing supervisors and asking if CAS is done
  • Spend money only on the examined subject that is genuinely failing
  • We do not tutor CAS, quote for it, or produce reflections or evidence
FAQs

Mumbai tutoring — questions parents ask

Can you send a CAS home tutor to our flat in Bandra?+

No. IB Gram does not tutor Creativity, Activity, Service anywhere in Mumbai, including Bandra, and we would not charge for the guidance on this page either. CAS has no syllabus, no marks and no external assessor, so there is no lesson for a visiting adult to deliver. Completion is decided by your school's CAS coordinator with your daughter. What we do arrange, in Bandra and everywhere else, is tutoring for examined Diploma subjects, where a guide and criteria exist and you can judge whether the money achieved anything.

My son will not do his CAS logging unless someone makes him. Can we hire someone for that?+

You could, and it would be a waste of money and would not work. A paid adult chasing a weekly log becomes one more person to perform for, and the entries get written for that person rather than honestly. The two-minute phone note, filled at a fixed moment, works because it is low effort and his. If he genuinely will not engage at all, the conversation to have is with the coordinator about why, because disengagement is usually about the subject load underneath CAS rather than CAS itself.

Where should a tutor and student work when a tutor comes to our home?+

A room with a door that stays open, a table big enough for two sets of papers, decent light and nobody else's television in earshot. A dining table beats a bedroom for every reason, including the simple one that you can hear how the session is going. Keep a spare power socket free and the wifi password handy, because half of the first session is usually lost to logistics. Be in the house for the first few sessions. None of this applies to CAS, since we do not tutor it, but it applies to every subject that we do.

Will a tutor travel to our building in Kandivali East for an evening slot?+

For an examined subject, yes, and Kandivali East is well served from along the Western Line and Metro Lines 2A and 7. Register the tutor's name and number with the society office so a standing weekly entry is logged rather than renegotiated at the gate every week, and pick a slot that does not need a Western Express Highway crossing at 6pm. For CAS there is nobody to send: that work happens between your son, the school and twenty minutes a week of your attention.

Is it wrong to help my daughter improve her reflection writing?+

Helping her think is right; improving the sentences is not. Ask what she expected, what happened and what she would change, then be quiet long enough for her to answer. Those questions produce real reflection. Rewriting her phrasing, suggesting that she mention teamwork, or giving her a structure to fill in replaces her thinking with yours, and a coordinator who then interviews her will hear the mismatch at once. Four awkward specific sentences are worth more than a fluent paragraph that could describe any student in the city.

I organise everything else in the house. Why is that a problem here?+

Because reflection needs decisions, and if you make them there is nothing of hers to reflect on. A student who was signed up, driven, reminded and followed up has attended two years of something without choosing any of it, and her portfolio will read exactly that way. The version that works is harder to watch: she picks something, it goes wrong, she talks to her coordinator and changes it. That sequence gives her something real to write and something real to say in an interview.

Should I find a weekend service activity for her myself?+

No. Take the idea to the school's CAS coordinator and let the school arrange it. This is a safeguarding point rather than an administrative one: the school vets the setting, the supervision and the arrangements because a sixteen-year-old is going somewhere unfamiliar with adults nobody has checked. A privately arranged placement may also not be recognised, so she can end up doing real work that does not count. Bring the enthusiasm and the suggestion, and let the coordinator do the setting up.

How do I know whether her CAS is on track?+

Ask the coordinator, because nobody outside the school can tell you. What you can judge from home is the habit, and the habit is the thing that fails. Open the portfolio with her once and look at the dates on the entries. A continuous trail across the term is on track. Three clusters in the week before each review is not, even if the activities are genuine. Then ask her to tell you about one thing that happened this month; if she can only tell you that she went, the commitment has drifted into attendance.

An agency offered us a CAS package with activities and documentation included. Should we take it?+

No, refuse it and tell the coordinator the offer was made. A package that supplies activities and the paperwork to prove them is selling a record of experiences your child did not have, with her name on it. She is the one who has to discuss that record in an interview, and she is the one who carries it if it unravels. There is no legitimate version of this product. If the agency also handled placements independently of the school, that is a safeguarding problem on top of an honesty one.

We are in Powai and everything seems to be in the suburbs. Does distance really matter that much?+

It decides whether the commitment survives. Powai has no station of its own, so a student is reaching anything outside it by road over JVLR or down to Kanjurmarg and Ghatkopar, and a 6pm crossing twice a week will not last a term. Look inside Powai and Chandivali first, including within your own complex, and keep anything further away for weekends. A commitment ten minutes from home that runs for two years beats a better one across Mumbai that stops in July.

What does progress look like at four weeks, one term and one exam cycle?+

At four weeks, something is logged weekly without you reminding her. At one term, the portfolio reads as a continuous trail and she can describe one thing that went wrong rather than only what she attended. By one examination cycle she has carried the same commitment through a monsoon and a mock season, which is the genuine test, and the coordinator conversation is short because she wrote everything down while she remembered it. None of those milestones involve a tutor, and none of them require anybody to be paid.

If we hire a tutor for Physics, can they keep an eye on CAS too?+

No, and please tell us if one offers to. A tutor in your home for an examined subject has a defined job: teach the content, work the papers, mark against the criteria. Extending that into reflections, portfolios or advice on what to say to a coordinator crosses into work that must be the student's own, and a tutor willing to cross it is telling you something about how they treat boundaries generally. Keep the two separate. The Physics hour is paid work; the CAS habit is a free twenty minutes a week at home.

Find your Mumbai tutor

Set up one shared note with three fields, pick a fixed Friday moment to fill it, and ask about one commitment a fortnight using what did you expect and what happened. Read the coordinator's emails yourself. That is the entire job and we would not charge for it. If an examined subject is the real problem, write to us with the subject, the level and her free evenings, and you will get two or three tutors, their zone, their slots and a free swap.
