IB Chemistry Tutor in Malad West, Mumbai

Families hire an IB chemistry tutor in Malad West because chemistry looks like a memory subject and is assessed as an explanation subject. A student who has learned every definition can still lose most of a paper. This page sets out where those marks go, and what chemistry home tuition in Mumbai should be working on from the first session.

How we match an IB chemistry home tutor in Malad West

Chemistry enquiries almost always arrive attached to a topic. She cannot do equilibrium. He is lost in organic. The topic is usually a symptom, because the subject is built in layers and a weakness two layers down surfaces as a failure at the top. A student who cannot reliably convert between mass, amount and concentration will fail yield calculations, titration questions, energetics arithmetic and electrochemistry in that order, which looks to a parent like four separate problems and to a chemist like one. So we do not take the topic at face value.

The process runs on evidence. 1. You send the year group, the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme, Higher Level (HL) or Standard Level (SL) if your child is in the Diploma Programme (DP), and a photograph of one marked chemistry test. 2. We read the lost marks and locate the deepest layer that is failing, which is usually lower than the topic on the report. 3. We shortlist tutors who have taught that level recently and whose record matches the actual gap. 4. You get two or three profiles naming level, topics and travel area. 5. A free discovery call follows, and lessons begin only when you agree.

Three gaps account for most of what we see, and they need different amounts of time. Quantitative insecurity, meaning the arithmetic of amount, is the deepest and takes six to ten weeks of short regular work to make automatic. Explanation, meaning the inability to write an answer in terms of particles, charges and forces, is the fastest to fix and responds within a month to being made to write against real mark schemes. Memory load, meaning reagents, conditions and trends, is the shallowest and the one students assume is their problem, and it is the only one that genuinely yields to revision. We see the same three gaps in students right across Mumbai.

If the arrangement is not working, the cause in chemistry is usually that the tutor was hired for the topic on the report rather than for the layer underneath it. Tell us in week four. The IB chemistry home tuition in Malad West we arrange carries no notice period, and we re-shortlist against the diagnosis rather than beginning the whole search again.

  • The topic on the report is usually a symptom, not the gap
  • Quantitative insecurity surfaces as four unrelated-looking failures
  • Explanation is the fastest gap to close, inside a month
  • Profiles name the level and the topics the tutor has taught
  • Re-matching works from the diagnosis, with no notice period

MYP Sciences, Standard Level and Higher Level: what changes at each step?

At each step the subject asks for less recall and more reasoning, and each step loses a predictable group of students. Middle Years Programme (MYP) sciences reward organisation: learn the definitions, follow the method, write a tidy conclusion against the criteria. Standard Level Diploma Programme chemistry keeps the content manageable and starts asking students to explain observations in terms of structure, which is a different act. Higher Level adds depth across the course and expects multi-step quantitative work and mechanisms to be handled without prompting. The students who struggle at each transition are rarely the weaker ones; they are the ones whose method was memory.

The current course is organised around structure and reactivity rather than as a list of separate topics, and that framing is useful for a tutor. Structure covers the particulate picture, bonding, and how models explain properties. Reactivity covers what happens, why, and how fast or how far. A good tutor uses that organisation deliberately, so that a question about boiling point becomes a question about forces between particles rather than a fact to retrieve. Confirm the structure of the course, the paper components and the assessment requirements with your school's coordinator and the current subject guide, since the IB revises guides on its own cycle.

The scientific investigation is the other half of a Diploma Programme chemistry grade. The student designs their own enquiry, justifies the method, controls what needs controlling, handles uncertainty honestly and evaluates what the data can support. Chemistry investigations fail in a particular way: a student picks a reaction that is interesting and cannot be measured reliably with school apparatus, or controls concentration carefully and ignores temperature entirely. Both are visible at the design stage to anyone who has supervised one, and invisible to a student who has only followed worksheets, which is most students in Mumbai before DP1.

At Standard Level the level choice deserves an honest conversation. Higher Level chemistry is a genuine step in both volume and reasoning, and a student whose strength is diligence rather than abstraction may produce a better diploma at Standard Level. A Chemistry tutor in Malad West who has taught both will give you a grounded view after a few sessions, with marked work rather than an opinion, and the useful time to have that conversation is DP1 rather than DP2.

  • Each step trades recall for reasoning and loses the memorisers
  • The course is framed as structure and reactivity, and tutors should use it
  • Boiling point questions are force questions, not facts to retrieve
  • Chemistry investigations fail on uncontrolled temperature or unmeasurable reactions
  • Decide the Higher Level question in DP1, with marked evidence

Structure, reactivity and the questions that cost most marks

In the structure half, one error recurs more than any other: explaining a difference in boiling point by talking about breaking covalent bonds when the question is about forces between molecules. A student who makes that substitution loses the mark every single time it appears, and it appears often. The related losses are predicting molecular shape and then failing to connect shape to polarity, treating hydrogen bonding as a stronger version of ordinary attraction rather than as a specific interaction, and explaining metallic or ionic properties without ever naming electrostatic attraction. All four are language and reasoning failures rather than knowledge failures.

In the reactivity half the damage clusters differently. Equilibrium, where a student explains a shift in terms of rate rather than position, or writes an equilibrium constant expression that does not match the equation. Energetics, where sign conventions collapse in a Hess cycle and bond enthalpy calculations come out backwards. Acids and bases, where a pH calculation is attempted without first deciding whether the acid is strong or weak, and where buffers are memorised as a recipe. Redox, where oxidation numbers are assigned confidently and incorrectly in polyatomic ions, and where cell direction is guessed. Organic, where reagents and conditions are known and the mechanism is drawn without the arrows meaning anything.

The data-based questions are the quietest loss and the easiest to prepare for. They ask a student to work with a spectrum, a table or a graph they have never seen: identifying a functional group from an infrared trace, reading a mass spectrum, interpreting the number of environments in a nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum, or drawing a conclusion from a titration curve's shape. None of that is memory. All of it is practice at reading unfamiliar data carefully, and a student who has done twenty of them is reliably better than one who has done two.

Then there is command language, which pays or does not pay. State, outline, describe, explain, deduce, suggest and justify each license a different answer, and chemistry mark schemes are explicit about wanting the mechanism of the explanation: in terms of what, caused by what, compared with what. The Chemistry home classes Malad West families book most often turn out to be about this. A student who knows the chemistry and writes it as a narrative will underperform one who knows less and writes in the form the scheme pays for, which is an uncomfortable fact and a correctable one in any Mumbai classroom.

  • Boiling point explained by covalent bonds instead of intermolecular forces
  • Equilibrium shifts explained as rate rather than position
  • Sign conventions collapsing in Hess cycles and bond enthalpies
  • pH attempted before deciding whether the acid is strong or weak
  • Data-based questions reward practice on unfamiliar spectra and curves

Which Mumbai areas a chemistry tutor reaches Malad West from

Malad West sits on the Malad West–Link Road corridor with Malad as its nearest station on the Western Line, and chemistry tutors are matched from a band that runs Goregaon West in the south, through Malad West, to Kandivali West in the north, plus Malad East across the Western Express Highway. Inside that band the evening journey is twenty to thirty minutes, which is what lets a weekly slot hold from July through to the final papers instead of fading after the first monsoon fortnight.

The shape of the band follows the shape of this part of Mumbai, Maharashtra. The Western Suburbs run north to south along the Western Line and the Western Express Highway, so travelling along the strip is quick and crossing it is unpredictable. Goregaon West to Malad West is one stop or a short run up Link Road; Kandivali West is the same the other way. Malad East is nearest on a map and least reliable in practice, since the crossing depends on which flyover a tutor uses and at what hour. Every profile we send names where the tutor starts.

Chemistry supply in this corridor is better than physics and thinner than maths, and there is a local reason. Witty International's Malad campus has made Cambridge the board most families along this road name when they enquire, so tutors here built practices around IGCSE sciences, and the Diploma Programme chemistry specialists of the Western Suburbs tend to live closer to the IB campuses around Goregaon East, Oshiwara and Juhu. For Higher Level chemistry, and for investigation supervision in particular, expect to look slightly beyond the band or to run a hybrid pattern. Parents typing IB tutors near me Malad West for Higher Level chemistry are meeting a supply question rather than a quality one.

Metro has made the wider search practical. Metro Lines 2A and 7 run Dahisar to Andheri and on to Gundavali, which turns a tutor from the northern stretch into a dependable weekday option, and Metro Line 1 from Versova through Andheri to Ghatkopar brings the eastern side to the interchange. When a tutor is travelling in, we ask for their worst case at your hour rather than their best, because the honest number is what decides whether the chemistry home tuition you book in Mumbai in July is still running in January.

  • Band: Goregaon West, Malad West, Kandivali West, Malad East
  • Chemistry supply here sits between physics and maths in depth
  • Higher Level and investigation work may need a wider radius
  • Metro Lines 2A and 7 make northern tutors dependable on weekdays
  • We ask travelling tutors for their worst case, not their best

The chemistry year at Malad West campuses

Children in this area attend campuses including Witty International School and Billabong High International School, and their internal science calendar is what shapes a tutoring plan. IB Gram is an independent platform and is not affiliated with Witty International School, Billabong High International School or the IB Organization. We name them because their assessment weeks and deadline clusters decide when chemistry help is useful, and because a tutor who knows the campus knows roughly what is coming.

The DP1 year has a recognisable pattern in chemistry. The opening weeks are atomic structure and bonding, which most students manage, and which quietly reward memory one last time. Then quantitative chemistry arrives, and the students who were never secure on amount of substance start losing marks they cannot account for. By October and November energetics and equilibrium are in play, both of which depend on the quantitative work, and the first mention of the investigation lands in the same stretch as the Extended Essay (EE) progress check and Theory of Knowledge (TOK) commitments. That is the busiest fortnight of the IB year in most Mumbai households.

DP2 is organic chemistry, consolidation and the investigation deadline, and it is the year in which a weak quantitative foundation becomes expensive, because organic yield calculations and electrochemistry both assume it. The mock series is the only honest data anybody gets before the final papers, and a tutor should read it with you topic by topic rather than as a single grade. A mock paper broken down by question type usually shows that two or three recurring faults produced most of the loss, which is a plan rather than a verdict.

One local scheduling note. School buses on the Link Road stops return late enough that a five o'clock lesson is rarely real here, and chemistry, like physics, does its worst work late in the evening, because the subject needs written explanation rather than bursts of problem-solving. Six or six-thirty is the slot to protect. A tutor who has taught other children in this corridor will tell you that before you book; one who agrees to five without asking about the bus has probably not worked here.

  • Atomic structure and bonding reward memory one last time
  • Quantitative chemistry is where unexplained losses begin
  • October and November: energetics, equilibrium and the investigation
  • DP2 organic and electrochemistry assume secure quantitative work
  • Protect a six or six-thirty slot; chemistry fades late at night

Does chemistry home tuition work better than online in Malad West?

For the reasoning and the diagrams, yes, clearly. A chemistry tutor needs to watch a student draw a Lewis structure, assign an oxidation number, or set out a Hess cycle, and intervene at the moment the error appears rather than after a finished answer is shared. They also need to see whether the student reaches for the calculator before deciding what quantity they are looking for. The IB chemistry home classes in Malad West we arrange begin in the room for that reason, usually twice a week while a quantitative or conceptual gap is being closed.

Online is strong for three specific parts of this subject and we use it on purpose. Marking written explanation answers, where the student can see which sentence failed to earn the mark and why, with a turnaround of hours rather than days. Investigation supervision, which is reading a draft and responding to it, and loses almost nothing on a screen. And data-based question practice, which works well shared on screen because the material is a spectrum or a table rather than something to be drawn. An IB online tutor in Malad West arrangement is also how a family reaches a Higher Level specialist who does not live anywhere near the Western Suburbs.

What online does badly is the layer underneath. A student whose real gap is the arithmetic of amount will sit quietly while a tutor explains equilibrium beautifully, and neither of them will discover the actual problem. If your child's marks have dropped without an obvious topic cause, insist on in person for the first six weeks, because that is the period in which the diagnosis gets made. After the diagnosis, the format matters much less.

Hybrid is where most of our Malad West chemistry families settle by the second term. One session in the room for reasoning, diagrams and quantitative drilling, and one online for marked written answers and data-based practice. Once travel is priced in it costs roughly what two in-person sessions cost, and it keeps the plan intact through a week when Link Road is flooded. Across Mumbai this is the pattern that survives a full academic year most reliably, and the home tutor for Chemistry Mumbai parents end up keeping is usually one running it.

  • In the room for Lewis structures, oxidation numbers and Hess cycles
  • Online for marking written explanations with fast turnaround
  • Online works well for spectra and data-based question practice
  • A hidden quantitative gap will not be found on a video call
  • Hybrid is the pattern that survives a full year most reliably

What a good chemistry tutor in Mumbai can answer in two minutes

Five questions, and a tutor who has taught this course will answer all five immediately. Which level have you taught, Higher or Standard, and in which years? How many investigations have you supervised, and what went wrong with the last one? What is the commonest wrong explanation students give for a difference in boiling point? How do you teach a student to decide whether an acid is strong or weak before calculating pH? And what would you do in session one if the topic on the report turned out not to be the problem? The third question is the test, because every experienced chemistry teacher has an immediate and slightly exasperated answer to it.

Our own checks happen before any profile reaches you: government photo identification matched to the person attending, a degree in chemistry or a closely related subject rather than a general science qualification, a teaching record naming the programme, the level and the years, and references from previous families or schools which we contact ourselves. We will not list a tutor for Higher Level chemistry on the strength of IGCSE science teaching, and the profile says plainly which they have done.

Be wary of a tutor who offers a guaranteed grade or quotes a success rate. IB Gram does not guarantee grades, because the result depends on two years of your child's own work and on an examination session nobody controls. What an honest IB private tutor Malad West families hire for chemistry will commit to is checkable within a month: a written diagnosis naming the layer that is failing, a first target, marked written answers returned to you, and a four-week review. Ask for those in writing and watch how quickly they agree to the last one.

One further check that is specific to this subject. Ask how the tutor handles uncertainty and significant figures in both calculations and the investigation, because it is the part of chemistry most often waved through. A tutor who can explain why a titration result should not be quoted to five figures, how to decide which measurement limits the precision, and why repeating a reading is not the same as improving accuracy, has taught the course properly rather than its content, and there are fewer such tutors in Mumbai than the number who list the subject.

  • Ask the level and years taught, not just the subject name
  • Ask what students most often get wrong about boiling points
  • Chemistry degree checked, plus references we contact ourselves
  • Be wary of a tutor who offers a guaranteed grade or a success rate
  • Ask how they teach significant figures and uncertainty

Why does almost everything in chemistry come back to the mole?

Because the amount of substance is the one quantity the whole subject converts through, and a student who is not automatic with it pays for that insecurity in five different topics while believing they have five different problems. Mass to amount, amount to concentration, concentration to volume, amount to gas volume, amount to particles. If any of those conversions requires conscious effort, then every yield calculation, every titration, every energetics question using a measured mass, and every electrochemistry calculation will take longer, use more attention and fail more often under time pressure.

You can test this at home in fifteen minutes without knowing any chemistry. Ask your child to tell you, quickly and out loud, how they would get from a mass of a named solid to a number of moles, and then from a concentration and a volume to moles. Not to calculate anything: just to say the route. A student who hesitates, or who reaches for a formula triangle, has a quantitative gap regardless of what the report says. A student who answers instantly has a different problem and you should look at explanation or memory instead.

The fix is unglamorous and it works. Ten minutes at the start of every session on conversions, with no calculator for the easy ones, until the route is automatic rather than remembered. Then limiting reagent questions, which are where this insecurity shows up most expensively, because a student who cannot confidently identify which reactant runs out first will answer a whole question correctly from the wrong starting number. Six to ten weeks of this changes a student's performance across topics that look unrelated, which is why it is worth the apparent detour.

This also tells you what to buy. If the gap is quantitative, a tutor who drills it ruthlessly is worth more than a specialist who teaches beautiful mechanisms, and that tutor is easier to find inside the band. IB tuition fees in Malad West for chemistry move with level, with the scarcity of Higher Level teaching, with travel and with session length, and investigation supervision usually costs more because fewer tutors have done it properly. We publish no price list and will not quote before knowing the level and the diagnosis. Chemistry is the subject where paying for the right diagnosis saves the most money overall.

  • Amount of substance is the quantity the whole subject converts through
  • One insecurity surfaces as five apparently separate topic failures
  • Test it: ask for the route, not the answer, in fifteen minutes
  • A formula triangle reached for is a diagnosis in itself
  • Limiting reagent questions are where the gap costs the most

What should four weeks of chemistry home tuition in Malad West show?

Three things, and none of them is a grade. Your child converts between mass, amount and concentration without pausing, which you can check in a two-minute conversation. Their written answers refer to particles, charges and forces rather than restating the question, which you can see on marked homework without knowing any chemistry. And they can name the layer that was failing: I knew equilibrium, I was getting the moles wrong is a diagnosis, and a student who can say it has been taught something that will keep paying.

At one term the marks move in a recognisable order. Explanation marks come first, because they respond quickly to being shown exactly what the scheme wants. Quantitative questions improve next, as the conversions become automatic and the arithmetic stops consuming attention. Data-based questions follow, since they need accumulated practice on unfamiliar material. The multi-step unseen questions come last, because they require both security and the confidence to start without knowing where the answer is going.

Across a full year, the honest test is the level conversation and the investigation. A good tutor will tell you in DP1 whether Higher Level chemistry looks sustainable for this student, using marked work rather than impressions, and will have the investigation design conversation months before the deadline rather than weeks. A tutor who reports steady progress all year and raises nothing uncomfortable is managing you rather than teaching your child.

The limits are worth stating plainly. Chemistry tutoring cannot replace laboratory experience the school provides, cannot make up two years of quantitative insecurity in a month, and cannot do much in the final fortnight beyond timing and composure. IB Gram does not guarantee grades. The families who get the most out of an IB chemistry tutor in Malad West are the ones who call when marks start slipping for no obvious reason, because that is the signature of a gap two layers down and it is cheapest to fix early. The chemistry home tuition we arrange across Mumbai is built around finding it.

  • Week four: conversions done without pausing or drawing a triangle
  • Week four: answers that name particles, charges and forces
  • One term: explanation first, then quantitative, then data-based
  • DP1 is the year for the Higher Level conversation, with evidence
  • Unexplained slipping marks usually mean a gap two layers down

Starting chemistry home classes in Malad West

Send three things and the first session earns its fee. One marked chemistry test with the mistakes visible, which is worth more than any description of what is wrong. The level, Higher or Standard, if your child is in the Diploma Programme, or the year group and criterion marks if they are in the Middle Years Programme. And whether the investigation has been started, because that changes the shortlist. Add two or three evening windows, protecting six or six-thirty if you can.

Session one should be a diagnostic rather than a lesson, and in chemistry it should contain three specific things: a quick oral check of the conversion routes, one explain question to be answered in writing, and one data-based question on material the student has not seen. Those three in an hour separate quantitative, explanatory and memory gaps cleanly. Expect a short written summary naming which layer is failing, what the first four weeks will cover and what will be sent to you.

Through weeks two to six, three things are worth watching, and none requires you to know chemistry. Are marked written answers coming back with mark scheme language in the corrections? Can your child state a conversion route instantly when you ask at dinner? And are they using words like electrostatic, delocalised and intermolecular correctly in ordinary speech? That last one is the best single indicator that the reasoning layer is being built rather than the memory layer.

We cover Malad West, Malad East, Kandivali West and Goregaon West, and the IB home tutor in Malad West arrangements we make for chemistry run the same way in each: brief, shortlist, discovery call, diagnostic, four-week review, nothing locked in. Searches for the best IB tutor in Malad West in this subject usually mean one specific thing, which is a tutor who will find the layer underneath the topic on the report. That is what the IB home tuition in Malad West we arrange is built to do, and it is the part most families discover they were missing.

  • Send one marked chemistry test with the mistakes visible
  • Say whether the investigation has already been started
  • Diagnostic: conversion routes, one explain question, one data question
  • Watch for mark scheme language appearing in corrections
  • Listen for electrostatic, delocalised and intermolecular used correctly
FAQs

Malad West tutoring — questions parents ask

My daughter learns everything and still loses marks. What is going wrong?+

She is probably answering explain questions with description. Chemistry mark schemes pay for the mechanism of an explanation: in terms of which particles, which charges, which forces, compared with what. A student can write a paragraph of entirely correct chemistry and earn nothing because the paragraph never names the interaction the question was about. This is the fastest fault to correct. Four to six weeks of writing answers against real mark schemes, with a tutor marking them strictly, changes it, and the gain shows on every paper afterwards.

She says she cannot do equilibrium. Is that the real problem?+

Often not. Equilibrium questions usually require an equilibrium constant expression and some quantitative work, so a student who is insecure about amount of substance fails them while believing the topic is the issue. Test it before you hire anyone: ask her to state out loud how she would get from a mass to moles, and from a concentration and volume to moles. If she hesitates or reaches for a formula triangle, the gap is quantitative and lies two layers below equilibrium. Teaching equilibrium again will not fix it.

What is the scientific investigation and when do we need help with it?+

It is the internally assessed enquiry each Diploma Programme chemistry student designs and writes up, and help is worth most at the design stage. Chemistry investigations fail in two predictable ways: a reaction that cannot be measured reliably with school apparatus, or careful control of concentration while temperature is ignored. Three or four sessions spent narrowing the research question, deciding what will be measured and how precisely, and planning the graph, prevent both. Families usually call once the draft exists, which is too late to repair the design.

Is Higher Level chemistry much harder than Standard Level?+

Yes, in volume and in the kind of reasoning expected. Higher Level adds depth across the course and asks for multi-step quantitative work and mechanisms handled without prompting. A diligent student whose method is memory can do well at Standard Level and struggle at Higher Level despite a strong science record. Standard Level chemistry is a serious course and choosing it is not a retreat. Have a tutor give you a view during DP1, based on marked work, while a change is still administratively possible.

Can a tutor travel to our building in Malad West for an evening chemistry slot?+

Yes, and six or six-thirty is the slot worth protecting for this subject. Chemistry needs written explanation and sustained attention, so it performs noticeably worse at nine in the evening than maths does. A tutor inside the Malad, Kandivali and Goregaon band can hold a six-thirty weekday slot reliably across a year; a tutor crossing from the eastern suburbs at that hour usually cannot. Tell us when your school bus actually reaches the Link Road stops so we book a lesson time that can be kept.

What do chemistry tuition fees depend on in this area?+

Level first, then scarcity, travel and session length. Higher Level chemistry draws on a smaller pool of tutors than Standard Level, and investigation supervision costs more than ordinary teaching because fewer tutors have genuinely done it. Travel is priced in, so a tutor from Goregaon West or Kandivali West costs less to bring to a Malad West flat than a specialist from Bandra. We publish no price list, and a quote offered before the level and the diagnosis are known is guesswork rather than pricing.

Does online chemistry tutoring work as well as home tuition?+

For marking written answers, data-based practice and investigation feedback, yes. For diagnosis and for anything that has to be drawn, no. A tutor needs to watch a Lewis structure being drawn or an oxidation number being assigned and stop the student at the error, which a finished answer on a screen hides. The arrangement we recommend most often is hybrid: one session in the room for reasoning and quantitative drilling, one online for marked explanation answers and spectra practice.

How do we prepare for the data-based questions?+

By doing a lot of them, on material the student has not seen. These questions ask for a conclusion from a spectrum, a table or a titration curve rather than from memory, so the only preparation that works is repeated practice at reading unfamiliar data carefully and writing a conclusion the data supports. A student who has worked through twenty is reliably better than one who has done two. Ask the tutor to set one every week from the start of DP1 rather than saving them for revision.

Can one tutor teach chemistry and biology together?+

Sometimes at Standard Level, rarely well at Higher Level. The overlap is real in the particulate and quantitative foundations, so a strong chemistry teacher can support biology calculations and experimental design. Where it breaks down is the content volume of Higher Level biology and the specific reasoning of Higher Level chemistry, and a tutor across both will be clearly stronger in one. Ask directly how many candidates they have taught in each subject at the level you need, and treat a modest honest answer as the useful one.

Why are Diploma Programme chemistry tutors harder to find here than IGCSE science tutors?+

Because the local supply followed the local schools. Witty International's Malad campus has made Cambridge the board most families along this road name when they enquire, so tutors who built practices in this corridor built them around IGCSE sciences, while Diploma Programme chemistry specialists sit nearer the IB campuses around Goregaon East, Oshiwara and Juhu. For Higher Level work, widen the radius or run a hybrid arrangement, and book earlier than you would for mathematics. The pool is adequate; it is just not on your doorstep.

Are you affiliated with Witty International School or Billabong High International School?+

No. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching service and is not affiliated with Witty International School, Billabong High International School, the IB Organization, Cambridge International Education or Pearson Edexcel. We name local campuses because their science calendars decide when families in this corridor need help, and because a tutor should know which school your child attends. A tutor who claims to represent a school, or offers to obtain internal material from one, should be declined and reported to us.

When should we start if the DP1 mocks are early in the year?+

At the point quantitative chemistry is introduced, which is usually a few weeks into DP1 and months before most families consider a tutor. That is when the gap that produces unexplained losses either gets closed or gets built into every topic that follows. Three to four months before any mock series is the minimum useful run for this subject, because explanation and quantitative fluency both improve by accumulation rather than by repair. Starting after the mock gives you timing and composure and little else.
