How do you find an IB and IGCSE home tutor in Ghansoli who actually turns up at 7.30pm?

Start from the road, not from a list of names. An IB and IGCSE home tutor in Ghansoli is only useful if the drive from their previous session ends at your gate on time, so the first filter IB Gram applies is where a tutor already teaches on a Tuesday evening. Ghansoli sits on the Thane–Belapur industrial road, and that road decides who can realistically reach Sector 3 or Sector 11 by half past seven.

The brief we ask for is short and specific: node and sector, the board and year group, the subjects in trouble, the two or three evenings that are genuinely free, and whether an adult will be in the flat. Families in Navi Mumbai often write 'Ghansoli' and stop there, but a tutor coming down from Airoli plans a different evening to one coming up from Vashi, and the sector tells them which one is possible. If your child travels to D.Y. Patil International School in Nerul, say so, because the bus sets the earliest slot that can work on a weekday.

A shortlist comes back with the node each tutor travels from, the boards and syllabus codes they have taught, the year groups they have taken through final exams, and the evenings they can hold. You speak to them before anything is booked. Most Ghansoli parents ask the same three questions on that call: which syllabus version are you teaching from, what will week one actually look like, and what happens if my child misses a Thursday because of a school trip. Good answers are specific and arrive without hesitation.

The first session is a diagnostic rather than a lesson. The tutor works through a recent test or a past-paper question with your child at the table and comes out with a short list of what is actually weak, which is usually narrower than the report card suggests. After two or three weeks you will know whether the fit is right. If it is not, say so early, because swapping a tutor in week three costs far less than swapping one in February.

  • 1. Send your node and sector, board, year group, subjects and free evenings.
  • 2. We filter for tutors already teaching along the Thane–Belapur corridor.
  • 3. A shortlist comes back naming each tutor's node, boards and year groups.
  • 4. You speak to the shortlisted tutors before any session is booked or paid.
  • 5. Session one is a diagnostic; the study plan is written after it.

PYP, MYP, DP or IGCSE: which programme does your Ghansoli tutor need to know?

Name the programme before you name the subject. A Primary Years Programme (PYP) unit, a Middle Years Programme (MYP) criterion-marked task, a Diploma Programme (DP) assessment and a Cambridge IGCSE past paper need four different kinds of teacher, and a tutor who is strong on one is not automatically useful on another. Ghansoli households run into all four, often at the same time across two children.

In the PYP years the work is inquiry-led and there is no paper to practise, so home tuition here is about reading fluency, number sense and the habit of explaining an answer out loud rather than pointing at it. MYP is where parents first see letters instead of marks: four criteria per subject, each scored out of eight, each with its own command terms. An MYP Year 4 student can be good at science and still score poorly on criterion B because nobody has shown them what a properly controlled method statement looks like on paper. The MYP Personal Project in the final year is a separate workload again, and it lands while everything else is still running.

DP splits into Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL) across six groups, with Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay (EE) and CAS running underneath all of it. IGCSE from Cambridge International Education or Pearson Edexcel runs on tiers instead: Core and Extended, with the grade ceiling set by the tier the school enters. Families asking about all IB and IGCSE subjects home classes in Ghansoli usually have one child mid-MYP and another in DP1, which is two different tutors unless someone genuinely spans both boards.

Tell us the exact programme year rather than the age. 'Grade 9' means MYP 4 at one school and IGCSE Year 9 at another, and the gap between those two in terms of what is assessed and how is large. If your child switched boards partway, say when, because a child who moved from a state board into IGCSE in Year 9 has a specific and closeable hole in practical write-ups and command-term discipline.

  • PYP: reading fluency, number sense, explaining an answer out loud.
  • MYP: four criteria per subject, each out of eight, each with command terms.
  • DP: Higher Level and Standard Level, plus TOK, the Extended Essay and CAS.
  • IGCSE: Core or Extended tier, with the grade ceiling set by the entry.
  • Tell us the programme year, not the age; 'Grade 9' means two different things.

Which subjects and which internal assessments does a Ghansoli home tutor have to handle?

Across both boards the honest answer is: fewer subjects than you think, and deeper than you think. A request for all IB and IGCSE subjects tuition in Ghansoli almost always resolves into two or three subjects that are genuinely in trouble, plus one Internal Assessment (IA) with a date attached. We match against the date first, because the date is the thing that cannot move.

Take a Year 10 student at Ryan Global School sitting Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry 0620. Paper 6 is the alternative to practical, and it is less a chemistry paper than a laboratory-habits paper. A typical question hands over a part-filled table of burette readings and asks for the titre. The student loses a mark for writing 24.5 instead of 24.50, because the paper expects burette readings recorded to two decimal places ending in zero or five. The next part asks why the first titration was discarded, and the answer the mark scheme wants is 'rough run', not 'human error'. Two sessions on those conventions move more marks than a month of re-reading the textbook.

On the DP side the largest single piece of coursework in each science is the scientific investigation, marked on research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation. Students in Navi Mumbai routinely pick a question they cannot gather enough data points for, then spend three weekends rescuing it. A tutor who has supervised that write-up before pushes the question narrower in week one instead of applauding the ambition. The same logic applies to the Business Management IA, where a Ghansoli student with family working in the corporate parks on Thane–Belapur Road has an easier time sourcing primary data than most.

Core versus Extended at IGCSE and Higher versus Standard Level at DP are the two decisions that change everything downstream. Extended and HL carry more content and a harder paper, but dropping to Core caps the grade and some university pathways notice. The useful question is not whether your child can cope, but what the subject needs to be at for the course they want three years from now. That is worth one honest session with a tutor who has taught both tiers and will say the unwelcome thing.

  • Name the Internal Assessment deadline first; the subject list can follow.
  • Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry 0620 Paper 6 rewards recording conventions, not extra content.
  • Burette readings are recorded to two decimal places ending in zero or five.
  • DP scientific investigations fail on data quantity more often than on theory.
  • Core or Extended, Higher or Standard: decide against the course, not the mood.

Ghansoli, Airoli, Kopar Khairane and Vashi: how the Thane–Belapur chain works

Ghansoli station sits on the Trans-Harbour Line between Rabale and Kopar Khairane, with Airoli two stops north and Vashi four stops south. That line, and the Thane–Belapur Road running parallel to it, is effectively the whole map for tutoring in this node of Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. Typing IB and IGCSE tutors near me from Ghansoli returns results from all over Navi Mumbai, most of which will never hold a weekday slot past the first month.

Airoli is the northern end of the corridor and the closest node whose tutor pool genuinely overlaps ours: a tutor finishing in Airoli at six can be in a Ghansoli sector by seven if they leave before the parks empty. Kopar Khairane is the southern neighbour and the easiest same-evening pairing, close enough that one tutor can hold a 6pm in one node and an 8pm in the other without rushing either. Vashi is reachable and plenty of good tutors live there, but it is the far end of the chain, so a Vashi-based tutor will usually offer a weekend morning in Ghansoli rather than a Wednesday evening.

The sector grid matters more here than any building name. Ghansoli is laid out in numbered sectors off the service roads, and the difference between a sector near the station and one up towards the Thane–Belapur Road is ten minutes of one-way loops at the wrong hour. The IB and IGCSE home tuition in Ghansoli that survives a full term is almost always booked with a tutor who already has another student within two sectors, because that is a trip they were making anyway.

Navi Mumbai is planned in nodes and tutoring follows the plan. Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel each sit a short drive from the next on the Sion–Panvel Highway, and matching happens node to node. Pulling a tutor across the creek from the island city for a 7pm Tuesday in Ghansoli works for about three weeks and then starts producing cancellations, so we do not set those matches up even when someone volunteers for one.

  • Ghansoli station sits on the Trans-Harbour Line between Rabale and Kopar Khairane.
  • Airoli is two stops north; Vashi is the far end of the chain.
  • Kopar Khairane is the easiest same-evening pairing with a Ghansoli slot.
  • Give the sector, not just the node; the service roads run as one-way loops.
  • Cross-creek matches from the island city rarely survive a full term.

D.Y. Patil International School and Ryan Global School: the calendar Ghansoli families plan around

Most Ghansoli children on an international pathway travel to school rather than walking to it. D.Y. Patil International School in Nerul and Ryan Global School are the two names that come up most often in briefs from this node, and both mean a bus that leaves early and returns in the late afternoon. That bus, not the parent's office hours, sets the earliest home tuition slot that is worth booking.

The school year runs from June to late March and the pressure points are predictable enough to plan against. August and September bring the first round of MYP criterion tasks and DP1 subject settling, which is when a wrong Higher Level choice becomes visible. October is mocks and the first reports anyone takes seriously. January and February are the hardest stretch in Mumbai: DP2 internal assessment final deadlines, the Extended Essay hand-in sitting just behind them, and school mock exams stacked on top of both. March and April are the written papers of the May session.

A tutor who knows that cycle plans backwards from it. Starting a new subject in late January with a DP2 student is triage and should be described as triage; starting the same subject in August is a proper rebuild with time to do it. For IGCSE families the equivalent moment is the Year 9 option choice, which happens quietly in a single week and decides which papers the child sits two years later. An IB and IGCSE tutor in Mumbai who has sat through that conversation with other families is worth more at that point than a pure subject specialist.

IB Gram is an independent platform. We are not affiliated with D.Y. Patil International School, Ryan Global School, or any other school named on this page, and we name them only because they are the schools Ghansoli families actually use. Tutors are not sent by schools and schools do not vet them. Checking a tutor is our job and, on the intro call, partly yours.

  • D.Y. Patil International School in Nerul means an early bus and a late return.
  • Ryan Global School families run the same bus-first scheduling problem.
  • August to October: first MYP criterion tasks, DP1 settling, then mocks.
  • January to February: DP2 Internal Assessment deadlines stacked on mock exams.
  • Year 9 option choices decide which IGCSE papers are sat two years later.

Home tuition, online or hybrid for a Ghansoli family on the industrial corridor?

Home tuition is the default here and it is what most Ghansoli parents should book. A tutor at your table sees the handwriting, the half-finished diagram and the phone lying face-down next to the notebook, and a younger child who will not speak up on a video call will speak up across a table. An IB and IGCSE home tutor in Ghansoli also fixes attendance, because the session happens whether or not the child feels like logging in that day.

The honest trade-off is traffic. Thane–Belapur Road at shift change is not school-run traffic; it is a corporate and industrial peak that builds from around half past five and does not properly clear until after seven. A tutor coming from Airoli or Kopar Khairane plans around it, but a 6pm weekday start is the hardest slot to hold in Ghansoli, and anyone who promises it every week without telling you where they are driving from has not thought it through.

IB and IGCSE online tutoring in Ghansoli earns its place in three situations: a late slot after half past eight that no tutor will drive for, a scarce subject where the right specialist lives nowhere near Navi Mumbai, and the fortnight before an exam when you want three short sessions instead of two long ones. Online works well for essay subjects, mark-scheme walkthroughs and past-paper review. It works badly for a Year 7 who quietly stops writing the moment nobody is looking.

Hybrid is what most families settle into by the second term: one session at home each week for the real teaching, one online for revision, doubts and marked work. It keeps the weekly rhythm without asking a tutor to make two corridor trips in the same week. If you are unsure, start with home classes for a month and add the online slot when the exam calendar tightens, rather than committing to both before anyone knows what the gap actually is.

  • Home tuition first: the tutor sees the handwriting, the diagram and the phone.
  • Thane–Belapur Road peaks from about half past five to seven at shift change.
  • A 7.30pm or 8pm home tutor slot holds better than a 6pm one.
  • Online suits mark-scheme walkthroughs, essay subjects and the fortnight before exams.
  • Hybrid: one session at home weekly, one online for doubts and marked work.

How are IB and IGCSE home tutors in Mumbai checked before they reach your door?

Before an IB and IGCSE home tutor in Ghansoli is introduced to a family, IB Gram checks identity against a government photo ID, confirms the degree or teaching qualification being claimed, and establishes which boards and which year groups the tutor has actually taught rather than studied. A tutor who scored well in IB themselves is not the same proposition as a tutor who has taken a cohort through final examinations and seen where that cohort lost marks.

We also ask which syllabus codes they work from, because a tutor who says 'IGCSE Chemistry' and a tutor who says '0620, and I have marked Paper 6 practice for three batches' are telling you different things. References come from families, not from institutions. For an IB and IGCSE private tutor in Ghansoli who will be in your flat weekly, we confirm the node they live in and the realistic travel time at the hour you want, because an overstated travel time is the most common reason a match quietly dies in week five.

Do your own checks too, and do them on the intro call rather than after a month. Ask which syllabus version the tutor is teaching from and whether anything changed for the current session. Ask them to describe what they would do in the first forty minutes with your child. Ask for one example of a student who did not improve and what they changed in response. A tutor who has never had that student is either very new or not being straight with you.

Set the room before the first session: a common area, a door that stays open, and an adult somewhere in the flat even if not in the room. Keep payment terms and scheduling in writing, including what happens to a missed session. If your society uses a gate register, add the tutor as a standing weekly visitor rather than a one-off guest, which saves ten minutes of phone calls every week in most Navi Mumbai complexes.

  • Government photo ID, qualification check, and boards actually taught, not studied.
  • Syllabus codes asked for by number, not by subject name alone.
  • References come from families rather than from institutions.
  • Ask which syllabus version, and what happens in the first forty minutes.
  • Sessions in a common area, door open, an adult somewhere in the flat.

Why Ghansoli tutors chain along Thane–Belapur Road and not Palm Beach

This is the one fact about Ghansoli that changes who you can actually book. Tutoring supply in Navi Mumbai runs on two separate chains. One runs down Palm Beach Road through the residential nodes and is driven by school pickup times. The other runs along the Thane–Belapur industrial road through Airoli, Rabale, Ghansoli and Kopar Khairane, and is driven by shift timings and corporate-park traffic. Ghansoli is on the second chain, and almost never on the first.

The consequence is entirely practical. A tutor on the Palm Beach chain builds an afternoon around a four o'clock school finish and a short hop to the next society. A tutor on the Thane–Belapur chain builds the opposite shape, because the road here is worst exactly when the school-run peak has cleared elsewhere. Their evening is either two sessions with a deliberate gap in the middle or three sessions pushed late. Several tutors on this corridor also work in or near the parks themselves and teach after their own day ends, which is why eight and nine o'clock slots are easier to get in Ghansoli than in a Palm Beach node, and why half past four is close to impossible.

This is also where IB and IGCSE tuition fees in Ghansoli come from. There is no price list worth printing, because the number moves with the board and level, how scarce the subject is, how long each session runs, how many sessions a week you book, and how far the tutor travels. Travel is the one you can influence here. Booking a tutor who already teaches a student in Ghansoli or Kopar Khairane removes a dedicated trip from their evening, and a tutor making a journey they were making anyway quotes differently from one driving in across the creek.

Parents who search for the best IB and IGCSE tutor in Ghansoli are usually asking a different question underneath: who will still be turning up in February. On this corridor the answer correlates less with credentials than with geography. The strongest subject specialist in Navi Mumbai is the wrong booking if the route does not work twice a week in the rain, and July to September in Mumbai tests every route anybody has ever promised you.

  • Two chains in Navi Mumbai: Palm Beach residential, and Thane–Belapur industrial.
  • Ghansoli is on the industrial chain, so late slots beat late-afternoon ones.
  • Corporate-park traffic, not school pickup, sets the evening peak here.
  • Fees move with board, level, subject scarcity, session length and travel distance.
  • A tutor already teaching nearby is not adding a dedicated trip to their evening.

What progress looks like at four weeks, one term and one exam cycle in Navi Mumbai

At four weeks you should see process, not grades. The child knows what the next deadline is, brings the right book to the session without being chased, and can explain one thing out loud that they could not explain a month earlier. If nobody in the house can name a single specific thing that changed after four weeks, the match is wrong and the useful move is to say so rather than wait for the next report card to confirm it.

At one term you should see it in marked work: a criterion score that moved, a past-paper section that stopped bleeding marks, an Internal Assessment draft that came back with structural comments instead of 'start again'. A term is also when the easy gains run out. A student who was losing marks on presentation and conventions improves quickly; a student carrying a two-year content gap improves slowly and steadily, and anyone promising otherwise in Navi Mumbai is selling something rather than teaching.

Across a full exam cycle the realistic claim is a better-prepared candidate, not a predicted grade. We do not guarantee grades and nobody honestly can, because the paper, the day and the child all get a vote. What a home tutor for all IB and IGCSE subjects in Mumbai can genuinely change is how much of the syllabus is secure by March, how familiar the command terms feel under time pressure, and how many past papers have been sat properly rather than read through.

If it is not working, the fix is a conversation and not a cancellation. Tell us exactly what you are seeing: sessions that finish twenty minutes early, homework that never gets set, a child who has gone quiet about the subject again. Sometimes the fix is a different time slot, because a tired child at nine in the evening looks identical to a bad tutor. Sometimes it is a different tutor, and a replacement is arranged against the same brief plus what went wrong.

  • Four weeks: process changes, not grades. One specific thing should be nameable.
  • One term: a criterion score moves, or a past-paper section stops bleeding marks.
  • One exam cycle: a better-prepared candidate, never a promised number.
  • Content gaps close slowly; conventions and exam technique close fast.
  • Raise a problem in week three rather than in February.

Starting home tuition in Ghansoli: what to have ready for the first session

Have four things ready and the first session is twice as useful. The most recent report card or progress sheet, the subject and syllabus codes exactly as the school writes them, one piece of recent marked work with the teacher's comments still on it, and the deadline calendar for the term. If two children are studying, list them separately with the programme year for each, because they are almost certainly two different tutors.

Set the room up once and you stop thinking about it. A table rather than a bed, a plug within reach, light that does not come from a phone screen, and the phone itself in another room. In a Ghansoli flat the dining table usually works better than the bedroom because somebody walks past occasionally, which is a feature rather than an interruption. If your building issues gate passes, register the tutor as a recurring weekly visitor before the first session instead of sorting it out on the doorstep.

The first session is diagnostic. The tutor will work through a recent test or a past-paper question with your child, ask what the subject teacher said about it, and find where the understanding actually stops, which is often two topics earlier than the one that is failing. You get a short plan out of it: what to fix first, what can safely wait until after the mocks, and how many sessions a week the plan honestly needs. That plan should be written down and not assumed.

After that, expect a weekly rhythm and a short note on what was covered. Ask for one every month if it does not arrive on its own. Keep the slot in the same place in the week wherever you can, because on the Thane–Belapur corridor a slot that keeps moving is the single thing that breaks a tutor's chain, and a broken chain is how a perfectly good match quietly ends in Ghansoli around the third month.

  • Bring the latest report, syllabus codes, one marked script and the deadline calendar.
  • A table, a plug, decent light, and the phone in another room.
  • Register the tutor as a standing weekly visitor at the gate beforehand.
  • The first session diagnoses; the plan is written down rather than assumed.
  • Keep the slot in the same place each week to protect the tutor's chain.
FAQs

Ghansoli tutoring — questions parents ask

What does an IB and IGCSE home tutor in Ghansoli cost?+

There is no fixed rate, and any page quoting one is guessing. What an IB and IGCSE home tutor in Ghansoli charges depends on the board and level, how scarce the subject is, the length and frequency of sessions, how much experience the tutor has with final-year cohorts, and the distance they travel to reach your sector. Higher Level DP sciences and the smaller Group 2 languages cost more than mainstream IGCSE subjects for the simple reason that fewer people can teach them properly. The lever you control on this corridor is travel: a tutor who already teaches in Ghansoli or Kopar Khairane is not adding a dedicated trip, and that shows up in what they quote.

Can a tutor reach my Ghansoli sector on a weekday evening when Thane–Belapur Road is at shift change?+

Usually yes, but the slot matters far more than the distance. The corridor peaks from roughly half past five until seven as the corporate parks empty, so a six o'clock start is the hardest one to hold week after week. A 7.30pm or 8pm start from Airoli or Kopar Khairane is much more reliable, and most tutors on this chain prefer it because it fits after their own day finishes. Tell us the two evenings you can genuinely commit to and we will match against tutors whose route already passes you, rather than agreeing a time that works on paper in October and collapses by July.

Do I need to be at home during home tuition sessions?+

Not for the whole session, but somebody should be in the flat. For a younger PYP or MYP child an adult nearby keeps the session honest in both directions and lets the tutor flag something in thirty seconds at the door rather than in a message three days later. For a DP2 student working through an Internal Assessment it matters much less. What we do ask is that home tuition happens in a common area with the door open rather than behind a closed bedroom door, and that a parent is present for at least the last ten minutes of the first session so you hear the diagnosis directly.

What happens if the tutor is not working out after three weeks?+

Tell us in week three rather than in month three. Say specifically what you are seeing: sessions finishing early, no homework being set, a child who has stopped mentioning the subject, or a tutor who keeps rescheduling. Some of it is fixable without changing anybody, because a wrong time slot or a mismatch on pace reads exactly like a bad tutor and is not one. If it genuinely is the fit, a replacement is arranged against the same brief plus a note on what went wrong, so the second match is better informed than the first. You are not starting the search again from nothing.

Does online tutoring actually work for IGCSE science practical papers?+

For the alternative-to-practical papers, yes, and often better than parents expect. Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry Paper 6 and its equivalents test recording, tabulation, graph work and experimental reasoning, all of which a tutor can mark live on a shared screen with the paper open beside the mark scheme. What online does not replace is the hands-on practical paper where a school enters one, or the early-years habit of an adult physically pointing at the error as it happens. For a Year 11 grinding through past papers, online is fine. For a Year 7 who stops writing when unobserved, book home classes.

My child is at D.Y. Patil International School in Nerul. Will a Ghansoli tutor know that calendar?+

Tutors working this corridor generally do, because the Nerul schools draw children from Ghansoli, Kopar Khairane and Airoli, and the bus timings are common knowledge among them. What matters more is that you name the school when you write, because it tells the tutor two things immediately: the earliest realistic start time on a weekday, and which assessment cycle your child is on this term. A tutor planning around a late-afternoon bus arrival will offer a seven or half past seven slot rather than promising something at five that quietly slips by fifteen minutes every week.

How quickly can sessions start after I send a query?+

Usually within the same week, and the limiting factor is almost never the tutor's willingness. It is the slot. If the only evenings you can offer are the two that every family on the corridor wants, the wait is longer. If you can take an eight o'clock weekday or a weekend morning, it is short. We would rather hold a match back by three days and give you a tutor whose route genuinely works than start on Monday with somebody who will be renegotiating the time by the end of the month and dropping you by the end of the term.

Can one tutor cover all IB and IGCSE subjects, or do we need more than one?+

One tutor can reasonably cover a primary or early MYP child across most subjects, because at that stage the work is study habits, reading and number sense rather than six separate syllabuses. From MYP 4 upwards it stops being realistic. A DP2 student needs a subject specialist per subject, and anyone offering to take Higher Level sciences, Economics and English Literature simultaneously is overselling what one person can keep current. The usual shape in a Ghansoli household is one specialist for the subject that is actually in trouble, and sometimes a second tutor for a younger sibling on a different programme.

We live in a Ghansoli society with a strict gate register. How does that work?+

Register the tutor as a standing weekly visitor rather than as a fresh guest every week. Most Navi Mumbai complexes allow a recurring entry once a resident confirms the name, the day and the time window, and several use an app where you approve in one tap from the office. Do it before the first session, not at the gate with the tutor waiting outside in the evening. If your building insists on calling up each time, give the tutor your intercom number and the correct wing name, because sessions that start ten minutes late after a tutor was sent to the wrong wing are extremely common.

Is a tutor from Vashi or Airoli better for us than one from Thane?+

Airoli and Kopar Khairane first, Vashi second, Thane rarely. Airoli and Kopar Khairane sit on the same Thane–Belapur chain as Ghansoli, so a tutor there is already driving past you on the way to or from somebody else. Vashi is on the same corridor but at the far end, and a Vashi tutor will usually hold a weekend morning far more reliably than a Wednesday evening. Thane looks close on a map and across the Trans-Harbour Line it genuinely is, but the evening road crossing is unpredictable enough that we treat it as an exception rather than a default.

We have seen no progress after a month. What should we do?+

Ask for specifics before concluding anything. A month is four or five sessions, which is enough to fix conventions and exam technique but nowhere near enough to close a two-year content gap. Ask the tutor to name what has changed and to show you a piece of marked work where it shows. If the answer is vague, that is your signal to move. If the answer is specific but the school report has not caught up yet, that is normal, because reports lag teaching by a cycle. We do not guarantee grades, and the honest measure at one month is whether the work is becoming more organised.

How do HL, SL, Core and Extended choices change which tutor we need?+

They change the tutor more than the subject does. A Standard Level DP student and a Higher Level DP student in the same subject sit different papers at different depth, and a tutor comfortable with one is not automatically fluent in the other. At IGCSE the Core and Extended tiers set different grade ceilings, and the Extended paper asks questions the Core syllabus simply never covers. Tell us the tier or level at the point of enquiry, because it is the single detail most often left out of a first message and the one that most often causes a mismatch in week two.
