Cambridge IGCSE Sociology (0495) Home Tutor in Mumbai

The case for a Cambridge IGCSE Sociology 0495 home tutor in Mumbai is simple: in this subject the useful information is in how your child thinks, not in what they submit. A tutor in the next chair watches the thinking happen. A tutor on a screen reads the finished sentence and has to guess where it came from.

How do we choose the two or three names we send for Sociology home tuition in Mumbai?

By asking who can hold your slot in October, not who looks strongest in June. Anyone can teach a first session. The question we filter on is whether this person, with their own commitments and their own commute, will still be ringing your bell on a wet Thursday four months from now. So the shortlist is built from tutors whose existing week already brings them near your corridor at the hour you want.

Parents who find us by typing IGCSE tutors near me Mumbai into a search box usually expect a directory and a ranking. We do not run one. Rankings are useless for an option subject taught in a handful of Cambridge schools in this city, because the honest pool near any single building is two or three people and a ranking would just be noise on top of a very short list. What we can tell you precisely is who those two or three are, what they have taught, how they get to you and when they can realistically arrive.

Each profile we send carries four lines and no marketing. Their Cambridge International Education experience in Sociology specifically, rather than a general Humanities background. The inbound route and the arrival window they will commit to. Whether they mark written work between visits and how fast. And whether they have taught a child in this year group through a full examination series before, because a Sociology (0495) IGCSE Years 9-11 tutor Mumbai parents trust is usually one who has already seen a cohort through the papers once.

Then the first visit does the work no profile can. The tutor sits beside your child, asks them to explain one thing they have studied, and listens to how they explain it. Within twenty minutes a competent tutor knows whether the problem is knowledge, vocabulary, structure or confidence, and those four problems need four different plans. At the door they tell you which one it is in a sentence. If they tell you your child is bright and needs practice, that is not a diagnosis and you should ask again.

  • 1. Tell us the building, the corridor and the two evening windows that genuinely work
  • 2. We shortlist only tutors whose week already passes near you at that hour
  • 3. You get two or three profiles with route, arrival window and marking turnaround
  • 4. First visit is diagnostic: the child explains, the tutor listens and names the gap
  • 5. You hear the diagnosis at the door in one sentence, not in a monthly report

Sociology 0495 as a Cambridge IGCSE option, and what it is not

Sociology under code 0495 is a Cambridge International Education subject sat as part of the International General Certificate of Secondary Education, usually studied across Years 9 to 11 in Mumbai and examined at the end. It is a social science with its own vocabulary, its own research tradition and its own written examinations. It is not general knowledge, it is not Civics, it is not current affairs, and it is not a soft option chosen to lighten a timetable.

That last misconception does real damage. Children arrive in Year 10 Sociology expecting to write opinions and discover that an opinion earns nothing. What earns marks is applying a named concept accurately, using evidence, and recognising what a piece of research can and cannot show. A bright child who argues well at the dinner table can score poorly here for months before anyone works out why, because the problem is not intelligence and not effort but a missing technical register.

Before booking, confirm what your child is actually entered for. Email the examinations officer and ask for the subject code and the examination series in writing. Some Mumbai schools teach Sociology as a full certificate subject, others offer it inside a combined humanities course, and a few run it only as an enrichment strand with no entry at all. Then ask for the current Cambridge syllabus document for that series. We publish no component weightings or paper durations on this page, because Cambridge revises its guides on its own cycle and last year's figure is the wrong thing to plan against.

Scarcity matters here too. Because fewer schools in Mumbai run 0495 than run the sciences, specialist tutors are thinly spread and are not evenly distributed across the city. A household in Juhu has more options than a household in Panvel. We will say which situation you are in rather than implying the pool is deeper than it is, and where it is genuinely thin, we would rather discuss a hybrid pattern than send someone who teaches History and has read the syllabus once.

  • 0495 is a full Cambridge IGCSE social science, not Civics or current affairs
  • Opinions earn nothing; named concepts applied to evidence earn marks
  • Confirm the subject code and series with the examinations officer in writing
  • Work from the current Cambridge syllabus document, never a figure quoted online
  • Specialists are thinly spread across Mumbai and unevenly distributed by node

Papers 1 and 2 and the research-methods problem no textbook solves

The written papers ask your child to handle sociological material and to reason about how it was produced. Research methods is where most candidates lose ground, and it is the part that cannot be learned by reading. A child can recite the definition of a questionnaire, a structured interview and participant observation and still have no instinct for why a sample of forty students from one school tells you very little about a city of this size.

What fixes that instinct is a conversation about something the child already knows, and that conversation goes better in their own home than anywhere else. Ask a teenager sitting in a flat in Matunga or Chembur to design a study on family structure, and the first draft always samples their own building. A tutor beside them asks who lives in that building, who does not, who moved out when the redevelopment happened, and who the watchman's family are. The sampling problem stops being an abstraction in about four minutes. That is a conversation, not a lesson, and it is the kind of thing that happens at a dining table and does not happen in a scheduled screen slot.

The second recurring gap is the gap between speaking and writing. Plenty of Mumbai students can discuss caste, class, gender roles and urban migration with real insight and then write a paragraph that states the insight without naming a single concept or citing a single study. A Sociology (0495) tutor in Mumbai who understands the papers will spend session time converting spoken reasoning into examination register: concept named, evidence attached, limitation acknowledged. The child is not learning new ideas at that point. They are learning to show the ones they have.

For both papers the practice has to be timed and handwritten before it is typed, because the thinking changes when there is no backspace. We also ask tutors to use the child's own written answers as the teaching material rather than model answers from a book. A model answer shows what good looks like. The child's own answer, read out loud at the table with the tutor interrupting at the exact word where the argument thins, shows them what they actually do.

  • Research methods is where most candidates lose ground, and reading does not fix it
  • Sampling becomes real when the example is the child's own building
  • Many students reason well aloud and then write without naming a concept
  • Examination register: concept named, evidence attached, limitation acknowledged
  • Teach from the child's own handwritten answers, not from model answers

Mumbai after six: what your corridor does to a weekday lesson

Mumbai, Maharashtra does not have one evening. It has six, and each of them ends at a different time. We match a Cambridge IGCSE Sociology 0495 home tutor in Mumbai inside your corridor wherever a specialist exists there, because the slot you can actually keep is decided by the road between you and the tutor, not by the map distance.

South Mumbai: the school runs are short, so an early slot is genuinely possible, and the roads are short but slow. A tutor moving from Worli to Colaba covers eight kilometres and can still lose forty minutes at the Peddar Road and Haji Ali signals. Families in Cuffe Parade, Fort, Walkeshwar, Tardeo and Babulnath are matched within the island, served by the Western Line into Churchgate, Grant Road and Mumbai Central, the Harbour Line through Dockyard and Sewri, Metro Line 3 from Cuffe Parade towards the Bandra Kurla Complex, and the Coastal Road. Half past five or six often works here where it would be impossible further north.

The Western Suburbs sit along one spine, so movement is easy north to south and hard across. Khar to Santacruz and Malad to Kandivali are routine; Bandra to Andheri at six is not, on either the Western Express Highway or the Link Road. Metro Line 1 from Versova through Andheri to Ghatkopar and Metro Lines 2A and 7 from Dahisar to Gundavali have made tutors in Borivali, Goregaon, Juhu and Oshiwara reachable in ways they were not. Seven to half past eight is the dependable window. The Central Suburbs run on the Central Line and the Eastern Express Highway from Kurla to Mulund, with Powai and Chandivali hanging off the Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road. Powai has no station of its own and is approached by road from Andheri East, Kanjurmarg or Ghatkopar, which makes its evening arithmetic unlike anywhere else in the city.

The Eastern Suburbs run from Chembur and Govandi through Vikhroli and Bhandup up to Mulund, on the Central and Harbour lines, and the Eastern Freeway with the Santacruz Chembur Link Road make this the easiest part of Mumbai to cross after dark. Navi Mumbai is a chain of nodes, Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel, strung along Palm Beach Road and the Sion Panvel Highway; the Atal Setu has shortened the island run, though a weekday crossing of the creek rarely survives a whole term, so we match node to node and aim at half past seven. Thane runs from the station across Pokhran Road and Majiwada onto Ghodbunder Road, where Kasarvadavali is twenty minutes away off-peak and nearly an hour at peak, which is why Thane households get Thane tutors with occasional crossover from Mulund.

  • South Mumbai can take an early slot: Cuffe Parade, Fort, Walkeshwar, Tardeo
  • Western Suburbs hold seven to half past eight: Khar, Santacruz, Malad, Borivali
  • Powai and Chandivali are road-only off JVLR, with no station of their own
  • Eastern Suburbs cross best after dark via the Eastern Freeway and the SCLR
  • Navi Mumbai aims at half past seven; Thane plans around Ghodbunder Road

Which months hurt a Mumbai Sociology candidate the most?

November and January. November is when the first serious internal assessments in this subject expose the gap between talking well and writing to the mark scheme, and January is when the pre-board or mock block lands across every subject at once and an option subject gets whatever time is left over. If you intend to use a tutor, have them in place by August so that November is a checkpoint rather than a shock.

Families we match send children to schools including Cathedral and John Connon School in Fort, B.D. Somani International School in Cuffe Parade, Bombay International School at Babulnath, Gopi Birla Memorial School in Walkeshwar, Aditya Birla World Academy in Tardeo, Activity High School on Peddar Road, Jamnabai Narsee International School in Juhu, Ecole Mondiale World School in Juhu, Billabong High International School in Santacruz and Thane, Ryan Global School in Worli and Kandivali, JBCN International School in Oshiwara and Chembur, Singapore International School in Dahisar East, NES International School in Mulund West and Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School in Thane. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform and is not affiliated with any school named here; the list exists because calendars and locations are what a tutor has to plan around.

The practical point is that these calendars differ by a fortnight or more, and an option subject is usually the one whose internal deadline moves. Ask the subject teacher in June for the assessment dates and the mock block dates, and ask again in October, because option subjects get rescheduled more often than core ones. A tutor working from June dates in December is planning against a calendar that no longer exists.

There is also a timetable problem specific to option subjects that parents rarely anticipate. Sociology often sits in the same slot as a sport, an arts elective or a club, which means a child who misses two weeks for an inter-school event misses a disproportionate share of the year's teaching in this one subject. Those are the weeks a weekly visit earns its keep, and they are worth flagging to the tutor in advance rather than explaining afterwards.

  • November exposes the talking-versus-writing gap; January is the mock squeeze
  • Have a tutor in place by August so November is a checkpoint, not a shock
  • Option-subject deadlines move: ask for dates in June and again in October
  • Inter-school events cost option subjects a disproportionate share of teaching
  • Schools listed for calendar context only; IB Gram holds no school affiliation

What does a home tutor in Mumbai see that a screen cannot show?

Four things, and they are the four that matter in this subject. Where the child hesitates. What they look at when they hesitate. What they cross out. And what they say in the ten seconds after the tutor stops talking. A Cambridge IGCSE Sociology 0495 home tutor in Mumbai sitting at the same table reads all four in real time. On a video call, three of them are invisible and the fourth arrives late.

Take the hesitation. A child asked to evaluate a study pauses for six seconds and then produces a fluent sentence. On a screen that pause is just lag. At the table you can see that during those six seconds they looked at the ceiling rather than at the text, which means the sentence came from memory rather than from the source, which means they have memorised an evaluation and will apply it to the wrong study in an examination. That is a diagnosis nobody reaches by reading the finished answer, and it changes the next three sessions.

The crossings-out are the other hidden evidence. A handwritten page shows the abandoned first attempt, and the abandoned attempt is frequently better reasoned than the one the child committed to, because they talked themselves out of it. A tutor who can see the page can say so. The same page typed in a document shows nothing at all. This is also why we ask for handwriting first in Sociology (0495) home classes Mumbai families book with us, rather than letting the laptop hide the process.

None of which makes online worthless, and we will recommend it where it genuinely fits. A dependable IGCSE online tutor in Mumbai beats an unreliable visit every time, and for a household in a node with no 0495 specialist within range that is the real comparison. Online also handles marking turnaround and short plan-checking slots well. Most families we work with end up hybrid by the second term: the weekly visit for diagnosis and timed writing, a shorter midweek screen slot for feedback on what was written. We will not pretend a call delivers the four things above, and we will not pretend a visit is possible where the road says otherwise.

  • Hesitation, eye direction, crossings-out and the ten seconds after a question
  • A six-second pause looking at the ceiling means memorised, not reasoned
  • The abandoned handwritten attempt is often the better argument
  • A dependable online slot beats an unreliable visit in an unserved node
  • Hybrid by term two: visit for diagnosis, screen slot for marking feedback

Checking the tutor, and checking what actually happens in the room

Before a Cambridge IGCSE Sociology 0495 home tutor in Mumbai goes on your shortlist we confirm government photo identity, the qualification claimed, Cambridge teaching or examining experience in Sociology rather than a neighbouring humanity, and two contactable references we actually call. We hand you the tutor's name as printed on the identity document so your building register matches the card they present, and we expect you to check it on the first visit.

The room is the part only you can audit, and the audit is short. Leave the door open for the first few weeks and listen for the ratio. If the tutor is talking for fifty minutes of a ninety minute session, this is a lecture and your child is a spectator, which is the single commonest failure mode in a discussion subject. The sessions that work sound like an argument: the tutor asks, the child answers at length, the tutor interrupts at one specific word. A quiet child in a Sociology session is not concentrating, they are hiding.

Then ask for evidence, weekly, in writing. One line on what skill was practised, one line on what was set, one line on what the school needs to clarify. Any tutor who cannot produce that in thirty seconds at the door is not tracking anything. Keep the notes. By week six the sequence of those lines tells you whether the plan is progressing or circling, and circling is far more common than regressing.

One warning. Be wary of a tutor who offers a guaranteed grade, in this subject above all, because Sociology answers are marked on reasoning by an examiner who has never met your child. We do not guarantee grades and we will not match you with anyone who does. A tutor can commit to turning up inside the window, to marking work within a stated turnaround, and to telling you straight when something is not working. That is the honest ceiling of what anyone can offer.

  • Identity, qualification, Cambridge Sociology experience and two called references
  • Register name matches the identity document the tutor presents at the gate
  • Listen to the talk ratio: a lecture in a discussion subject is a failure mode
  • Ask for three written lines weekly: skill practised, task set, school query
  • Be wary of a guaranteed grade; we do not guarantee grades in any subject

The five things a tutor notices in the first twenty minutes beside your child

First, whether the child owns their vocabulary or borrows it. Ask them to define a term they used and watch whether they reach for the textbook phrasing or explain it in their own words with an example from their own life. Borrowed vocabulary survives a classroom discussion and collapses under an examination question that changes the context slightly. Second, whether they read the question or pattern-match it. A child who starts writing within four seconds of reading a question has recognised a topic, not understood a demand.

Third, what they do with disagreement. A tutor states something slightly wrong on purpose and waits. A confident candidate pushes back. A child who nods at an error is a child who will not evaluate a study in an examination either, and that nod is invisible over a screen. Fourth, their relationship with their own marked work. If the folder is unopened and the teacher's comments from August are unread, no amount of new teaching helps, because the same feedback is about to be written again in December.

Fifth, how the household actually runs in that hour. Does the session start at seven or at twenty past, because the school bus is late or dinner is on the table. Is the phone in the room. Is a younger sibling using the same table. Is there an adult who will be asked to intervene and will not be at home. A home tutor for Sociology (0495) Mumbai parents keep for a full year is one who noticed these on day one and built the slot around them rather than complaining about them in month three.

This is also where the fee conversation belongs, because it is the only honest basis for one. Nobody can quote you a rate on a web page, and we do not. What an IGCSE private tutor Mumbai parents hire actually charges tracks the board and level, how scarce 0495 specialists are on your particular corridor, the inbound distance and the hour of that travel, the length of the session, and whether written work is marked between visits. IGCSE tuition fees in Mumbai for a thinly taught option subject in a far node behave differently from a core subject two lanes away. Ask for the rate, the travel assumption, the marking turnaround and the cancellation terms in one message, and keep the reply.

  • Owned vocabulary explains itself with an example; borrowed vocabulary quotes
  • Writing four seconds after reading a question means pattern-matching, not reading
  • A child who nods at a deliberate error will not evaluate a study either
  • An unopened folder of August feedback predicts December feedback exactly
  • Fees track subject scarcity, inbound hour, session length and marking load

Honest milestones for Sociology home classes in Mumbai

Four weeks in, the test is whether your child can explain one named concept to you, at the table, without the textbook, using an example from their own life. That is it. Not a mark, not a mock score. If they can, the sessions are reaching the right layer. If they can only repeat a definition, the tutor is still teaching content and has not yet started teaching application, and it is reasonable to raise that directly at the door.

One term in, read the marked work rather than the totals. You want to see the teacher's comments change. Comments like define your terms and use evidence should have given way to comments about depth of evaluation or balance. That shift means the basic register is now in place and the remaining ground is the harder kind. If December's comments repeat September's word for word, the time is going into topic coverage rather than technique, and that is a conversation to have with the tutor rather than with us first.

One examination cycle in, expect improvement and distrust precision. A child who names concepts, reads the demand of a question and finishes both papers will usually do better than the version of themselves who did not. Nobody can tell you how much better. IB Gram does not guarantee grades, Cambridge marks the scripts, and a tutor who puts a number on it in August is guessing at best. Judge the arrangement on whether the thinking has changed, because that is the part anyone in your flat can observe.

The limits, plainly. Weekly home tuition will not make a child care about a subject they were pushed into, will not replace school teaching that is being missed, and will not substitute for reading. This subject in particular needs the child to read things they did not choose, and no tutor can do that part for them. It also will not work at one visit a week if the week between visits is empty. The households who get the most out of this are the ones where forty minutes of set work actually happens on a Saturday.

  • Week four: one concept explained to you with an example from their own life
  • One term: teacher comments should move from basics to depth of evaluation
  • Identical December and September comments mean technique is being skipped
  • Grades are not guaranteed; Cambridge marks the scripts, not the tutor
  • A weekly visit fails if the six days in between stay empty

Your first evening: who should be in the room, and who should not be?

Your child and the tutor, at a table, with the door open. Not a parent sitting in, not a sibling doing homework at the same surface, and not a phone within reach. Parents who sit in get a politer session and a worse diagnosis, because a fifteen year old will not admit to not understanding something in front of a parent. Listen from the next room for the first two or three weeks instead. You will learn more.

Have four things ready before seven o'clock. Every piece of marked Sociology work from this academic year, including the ones your child would rather you did not see. The current Cambridge syllabus document the school is working from. The assessment and mock dates. And the tutor's name registered at your building gate the day before, so the first evening does not start with a phone call from the watchman.

Set the slot around the worst version of your evening rather than the best. In the Western and Central Suburbs that means seven rather than six, because six puts the tutor on the Western Express Highway at the wrong moment. In South Mumbai half past five can genuinely work. In Navi Mumbai and on Ghodbunder Road, half past seven is the honest answer once a parent is commuting back. A slot set fifteen minutes too early is the most common reason a good arrangement quietly stops in October.

And ask for the handover at the door from the first visit onward. One sentence on what the tutor found, one on what they set, one on what they need from the school. It takes ninety seconds, it is the most valuable part of the evening for you, and it is the reliable test of whether this person is paying attention. An IGCSE home tutor in Mumbai who gives you that every week is worth keeping through a difficult term.

  • Child and tutor at the table with the door open; parent listens from next door
  • Marked work, syllabus document, assessment dates, gate registration done
  • Seven in the suburbs, half past five in South Mumbai, half past seven in Thane
  • No phone within reach and no sibling sharing the same working surface
  • Ask for three sentences at the door after every single visit
FAQs

Mumbai tutoring — questions parents ask

Is there an evening slot that works if school finishes at four and dinner is at eight?+

Seven to half past eight works for most households in the Western and Central Suburbs, and it is deliberately not six. A six o'clock start puts the tutor on the Western Express Highway or the Eastern Express Highway at the worst moment and puts your child at the table while food is being served. In South Mumbai, where school runs are shorter, half past five or six is genuinely workable. In Navi Mumbai and along Ghodbunder Road, half past seven is the realistic answer. Set the slot around your worst weekday, because that is the one that decides whether the arrangement survives October.

Can a tutor travel from Bandra to Mulund midweek, or should we match locally?+

Match locally. That specific run crosses the city at the hour it is least crossable, and while the Santacruz Chembur Link Road makes it possible on paper, a tutor doing it weekly will be late by September and gone by December. For Mulund we look at tutors in Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli and Thane, who reach you on the Central Line or the Eastern Express Highway in a predictable time. Where no 0495 specialist exists in that set, we will say so and propose a hybrid pattern rather than sell you a commute that will not hold.

Should a parent sit in the room during home classes?+

No, and this matters more in Sociology than in most subjects. A teenager will not say they do not understand a concept in front of a parent, so sitting in produces a smoother session and a weaker diagnosis. Leave the door open and listen from the next room for the first few weeks, paying attention to the talk ratio: if the tutor is speaking for most of the session, your child is a spectator. Then take your information from the handover at the door rather than from the session itself. Being present is useful on the first visit only, for introductions.

Our building in Worli has strict visitor rules. Does that complicate a weekly tutor?+

It is manageable and it needs setting up once. Give security the tutor's full name and mobile number exactly as printed on their identity document, then ask the society office to add them as a recurring weekly visitor for a stated day and window. Older South Mumbai buildings usually run a handwritten register and a watchman who decides, so introducing the tutor at the desk in person on the first evening does more than any message will. Newer complexes issue app-based passes, in which case set up a repeat pass instead of approving a notification while the session is already starting.

Few Mumbai schools offer Sociology. Does that make a tutor hard to find?+

It makes the pool genuinely thin and uneven across the city, which we will tell you plainly. A household in Juhu, Bandra or Powai usually has options. A household in Panvel, Dahisar or at the far end of Ghodbunder Road may have one viable specialist or none within a realistic travel window. In that case the honest choices are a longer single weekly visit, a hybrid pattern, or an online arrangement with a specialist further away. What we will not do is relabel a History or Psychology tutor and hope the syllabus overlap carries it.

My child discusses sociology well but writes badly. What actually fixes that?+

Converting spoken reasoning into examination register, which is a trainable skill and usually the fastest gain available. The pattern is specific: the child makes a sound argument aloud, then writes it without naming a concept, attaching evidence or acknowledging a limitation. A tutor sitting beside them has the child say the answer first, writes the three missing elements into it with them, and then has them write it by hand against a clock. Six to eight weeks of that typically moves the written work visibly, because the ideas were already there and only the presentation was missing.

How are research methods taught if the child cannot run real fieldwork?+

By using situations the child already knows, which is why a home setting helps. Ask them to design a study on something in their own life, then interrogate the design: who got sampled, who was excluded, who would lie to an interviewer and why, what a questionnaire of forty classmates can and cannot show about a city this size. The flaws become obvious in minutes when the example is their own building or their own school. That instinct is what the papers test, and it transfers to unfamiliar studies in a way memorised definitions do not.

Why will nobody quote me a rate before meeting my child?+

Because the honest answer depends on things that are not knowable from an enquiry form. The board and level, how scarce 0495 specialists are on your corridor, the inbound travel distance and the hour it happens, the session length, and whether written work is marked between visits. A thinly taught option subject in a far node is not priced like a core subject two lanes away. Any number published on a page would mislead a good proportion of readers. Ask the tutor for the rate, the travel assumption, the marking turnaround and the cancellation terms in one message, and keep the written reply.

The tutor and my child get on well, but the marks have not moved. What now?+

Look at the marked work before you change anything. Comments that still say define your terms in December when they said it in September mean the sessions are covering topics instead of building technique, and that is fixable with a direct conversation about what the next four sessions will practise. If the pattern does not change after that conversation, tell us and we arrange a replacement, keeping your slot, your corridor and your file. A good relationship with no change in the written work is comfortable for everyone and is not what you are paying for.

Do you work with my child's school, and what will you not promise?+

We work with families, not schools. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform and is not affiliated with Cathedral and John Connon School, Jamnabai Narsee International School, NES International School or any other school named on this page; they are here as calendar and location context. On outcomes, we do not guarantee grades, because Cambridge marks the scripts and reasoning is judged by an examiner who has never met your child. Be wary of a tutor who offers a guaranteed grade. What is promisable is attendance, preparation, a marking turnaround and honesty about what is not improving.

Is online the right choice if we live far from the nearest specialist?+

Often yes, and we will say so rather than force a visit. A reliable weekly online session with a genuine 0495 specialist is better than a visit from someone whose commute will defeat them by October. Online handles marking feedback, plan-checking and vocabulary drilling well. It handles the diagnostic work less well, because hesitation, eye direction and crossings-out are mostly invisible on a call. A reasonable compromise for an unserved node is a longer online session weekly plus an in-person block during school holidays, when travel is easier and a two-hour visit is practical.

What should the tutor send us between visits?+

Three lines and any marked work, nothing more elaborate. One line on the skill practised, one on the task set for the week, one on anything the school needs to clarify. Marked written answers should come back inside the turnaround the tutor stated at the start, and if they do not, that is the first thing to raise. Long monthly reports are usually a substitute for weekly contact rather than an addition to it. Keep the three-line notes somewhere you can read in sequence, because by week six the sequence shows you whether the plan is progressing or circling.

Find your Mumbai tutor

Send us your building and corridor, your child's year group, the two evening windows that genuinely work, and the dates of the next school assessment. We check who holds real Cambridge Sociology experience within reach of you at that hour, and reply with two or three names, each with an inbound route, a committed arrival window and a marking turnaround. You choose who comes first. The first visit is diagnostic, and it ends with one sentence at your door naming what is actually going wrong.
