Cambridge IGCSE International Mathematics (0607) Home Tuition in Mumbai

Cambridge IGCSE International Maths 0607 home tuition in Mumbai is a standing arrangement, not a booking. This page covers the part nobody explains before you commit: how many hours a week actually shift a grade, what a month looks like, how you hear about progress between sessions, what the rate covers, and how you pause or end it cleanly.

Standing weekly slot with the same tutor, not a rotating roster.
A short written note after every session, not a monthly summary.
Named substitute and handover notes if your tutor is unavailable.
Rate, inclusions and notice period agreed in writing before session one.

Setting Up Cambridge IGCSE International Maths 0607 Home Tuition in Mumbai

Most families approach this as a search for a person. It is better approached as a search for a slot that will survive a full term. Cambridge IGCSE International Maths 0607 home tuition in Mumbai fails far more often from scheduling than from teaching, because a brilliant tutor in a slot that collides with football practice, a sibling's piano lesson or your own work calls gets cancelled twice, rescheduled once and then quietly stops. So the first thing we ask for is not a subject preference. It is the two weekday windows that are genuinely free for the next twelve weeks, and the weekend window that would work if the weekday one breaks.

The second thing we ask is how long you expect this to run. A term-long engagement and an eight-week exam-term engagement are different products and should be matched differently. A tutor taking on a year of work will spend the first fortnight building a sequence and will teach content, not just revise it. A tutor taking on the run-up to the written papers should be triaging from day one. If you ask a tutor for a term-long plan and then stop after five weeks, you have paid for the setup and left before the return, which is the single most common way families waste money on tuition.

Then the subject filter. For a code as narrow as International Mathematics (0607), the pool of people who have taught it rather than something adjacent is not large in any one part of the city, so we widen the geographic radius before we widen the subject definition. A parent in Chembur may be offered a tutor from Wadala rather than a general Maths tutor from the next lane. That trade is deliberate, and we will explain it rather than hide it. If no viable in-person match exists for your window, we say so and discuss online or hybrid instead of filling the slot with somebody unsuitable.

The last step before you commit is the paid trial session, and the thing to watch is not the teaching quality alone. Watch whether the tutor leaves you with a plan for the next four weeks. An arrangement that is going to last needs a tutor who thinks in months. You should finish the trial knowing what will be covered by the end of the first month, what your child is expected to do between sessions, and what the tutor wants to see from the school before week three.

  • 1. Give us two realistic weekday windows plus one weekend fallback slot.
  • 2. Say whether this is a term-long engagement or an exam-term sprint.
  • 3. We shortlist on genuine 0607 teaching history, widening radius before loosening subject.
  • 4. Paid trial session, in your home, with the slot you intend to keep.
  • 5. You get a four-week plan in writing before the engagement starts.
  • 6. Confirm the rate, the inclusions and the notice period at the same time.

How Many Hours a Week Actually Move a 0607 Grade?

For most IGCSE students on International Mathematics (0607), one session a week moves a grade only if the week between sessions is used. Two sessions a week move a grade faster and are worth it in two specific situations: a student at Extended tier who is behind on content rather than on practice, and a student in the final term who needs separate sessions for new work and for timed practice. Three sessions a week almost never helps. Past a certain point the limiting factor stops being teaching time and becomes how much independent work the student is willing to do, and adding a third session reduces that rather than increasing it.

The reason is simple enough to be worth saying out loud. A tutor's hour produces a list of things to fix. Those things get fixed in the hours your child spends alone with a pen. A student doing ninety minutes of tuition and no independent work is being carried; a student doing sixty minutes of tuition and three hours of their own practice is being coached. When parents tell us that tuition has made no difference, the between-session hours are almost always where the answer is, and an honest tutor will raise it in week three rather than in month three.

Tier changes the hour calculation more than most parents expect. Cambridge International Education offers 0607 at Core and Extended, and your first task is to establish in writing from the school's examinations officer which one your child is actually entered for, because students report this wrongly often enough that we treat the student's version as a guess. Extended carries content Core does not, so a student moved up mid-course is behind on teaching rather than revision, and that genuinely needs two sessions a week for a stretch. A Core student who is coping needs one, and spending more is buying reassurance.

Session length matters alongside frequency. Sixty minutes suits a Year 9 student and a maintenance arrangement; ninety suits a Year 11 student working through a full past paper with review, because an hour is not long enough to attempt a paper and then discuss it properly. Two hours is too long for most teenagers on a weekday evening after a school day and a commute, and the last thirty minutes are usually wasted. Fix the length against what the session is for, not against what feels like value for money. For the current assessment structure and paper arrangement, read the 0607 syllabus document for your child's examination year rather than relying on any tutor's recollection of it.

  • One weekly session works only if the week between it is used.
  • Two sessions suit Extended-tier content gaps and the final timed-practice term.
  • Three sessions a week usually reduces independent work rather than adding progress.
  • Ninety minutes for a full past paper plus review; sixty for maintenance.
  • Confirm Core or Extended in writing before setting the weekly hours.

Mapping 0607 Content Across a Term, Not a Single Session

A term plan for International Mathematics (0607) is not a list of topics in syllabus order. It is a sequence built backwards from the school's assessment calendar, and the ordering decisions are where an experienced tutor earns the rate. Graphic display calculator fluency goes first, in the first fortnight, because it is a habit rather than a topic and every later session depends on it. Nothing else in the plan works properly if your child is still treating the calculator as a checking device in week eight. So the opening weeks look light on content and heavy on method, and parents who expected to see topics ticked off get nervous. Ask for the plan and the reasoning so you are not guessing.

Modelling and investigation work sits in the middle of the term, deliberately, and is revisited rather than taught once. These are the components 0580 students never meet, and the skill they demand does not build from a single explanation; it builds from repeated exposure across weeks with the same question type appearing in different clothes. A tutor who covers modelling in one session in October and not again until March has not taught it. Expect to see it come back in roughly every third session, in small doses, alongside whatever the main topic is.

The algebra and function work that carries the heaviest mark load is spread rather than blocked, because blocked practice produces students who can do a topic in the week they learn it and not in March. The late-term weeks are reserved for full timed papers and for the specific failure modes the tutor has catalogued since week one. By then a good tutor should have a written list of your child's recurring errors, and the last month should be spent closing that list rather than re-covering the syllabus. A tutor who proposes a full syllabus sweep in the final six weeks is planning for appearances.

Where school teaching and the term plan collide, the school wins on timing and the tutor adapts, not the other way round. If your child's class is three weeks ahead of the tuition plan on one topic, the tutor should drop that topic and move on rather than teach it twice. This is also why the school's scheme of work is worth asking for at the start of the year and handing over. An International Mathematics (0607) tutor in Mumbai working blind to the school sequence will duplicate some teaching and leave other gaps open, and you will pay for both.

  • Calculator fluency in the first fortnight, before any topic sequencing.
  • Modelling and investigation work revisited every third session, not taught once.
  • Heavy-mark algebra and function work spread across weeks, not blocked.
  • Final weeks spent closing a catalogued error list, not sweeping the syllabus.
  • Hand over the school's scheme of work so teaching is not duplicated.

Where Across Mumbai a Standing Weekly Slot Actually Holds

An ongoing arrangement lives or dies on whether the same slot can be kept week after week in October, in January and in April. That is a different question from whether a tutor can reach you once, and it has different answers in different parts of Mumbai, Maharashtra. The rule of thumb we work to is that an arrangement holds when the tutor's travel is under about forty minutes in the evening peak and does not cross a bottleneck that fails unpredictably. Cambridge IGCSE International Maths 0607 home tuition in Mumbai is sustainable in most of the city on that basis, but the viable slot time varies by zone and it is better to know that before you fix one.

In South Mumbai the distances are short and the arrangements are among the most stable in the city, provided tutor and student are both on the island; Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Babulnath, Tardeo and Worli matches hold well, with Metro Line 3 and the Coastal Road making the Cuffe Parade to Worli run more predictable than it was. Across the Western Suburbs the pattern is that along-the-line matches hold and across-the-line matches do not: a tutor living in Khar West can keep a standing slot in Santacruz or Bandra indefinitely, and the same tutor trying to reach Goregaon East at 6.30pm on the Western Express Highway will be late four weeks out of eight. Metro Lines 2A and 7 have made Malad, Kandivali, Borivali and Dahisar matches more reliable than the road alone allowed.

In the Central Suburbs, Powai and Chandivali are the awkward cases because neither has a station, so a tutor arrives by road from Andheri East, Kanjurmarg or Ghatkopar and JVLR decides whether that is twenty minutes or fifty. Kurla and Mulund matches along the Central Line are steadier. In the Eastern Suburbs, Chembur, Govandi, Vikhroli and Bhandup arrangements hold well within the corridor, and the Eastern Freeway plus the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road makes a Wadala or Chembur tutor genuinely viable for a Lower Parel family, which the map does not suggest. The Bandra-Worli Sea Link is the one crossing that makes a western-suburbs tutor workable in South Mumbai, and only outside peak.

Navi Mumbai and Thane deserve stating plainly because this is where families most often end up disappointed. Navi Mumbai works node to node: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel tutors keep slots within a couple of nodes along Palm Beach Road or the Sion-Panvel Highway, and although the Atal Setu has shortened the crossing from the island city, a weekday evening commitment across it rarely survives a full term. Thane is governed by Ghodbunder Road: a tutor near the station reaches Majiwada or Pokhran Road comfortably and Kasarvadavali in the evening peak with difficulty. For families out that far, a home tutor for International Mathematics (0607) Mumbai pool drawn from Thane itself is more durable than a better-credentialled tutor from Powai who will resign the slot by December.

  • South Mumbai: Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Babulnath, Tardeo and Worli hold well.
  • Western Suburbs: along-the-line matches last; across-the-line evening runs do not.
  • Central Suburbs: Powai and Chandivali depend entirely on JVLR, not a station.
  • Eastern Suburbs: the Eastern Freeway and SCLR make Chembur and Wadala tutors viable southward.
  • Navi Mumbai: Vashi to Panvel works node to node; creek crossings rarely survive a term.
  • Thane: Ghodbunder Road out to Kasarvadavali sets the latest workable start time.

When Should You Start Relative to the Mumbai Exam Series?

For a May and June series, the useful answer is the start of the academic year for a term-long engagement, and no later than the end of the autumn term for anything that intends to change a grade. Mumbai schools running IGCSE put a full mock window in the winter, and a tutor who begins after those results are back has lost the entire first phase of the arrangement: the calculator habit, the error catalogue, the slow work on unfamiliar questions. Starting in January is not pointless, but it changes the product from teaching to triage, and you should be told that at the outset rather than discovering it in March.

The pressure points stack unevenly through the Mumbai year, and an arrangement should be planned around them rather than surprised by them. October and November bring the first serious internal assessments at most schools, which is when parents discover a problem exists. The winter mock fortnight is the hardest point of the year for a Year 11 student, because several subjects land coursework and assessment deadlines in the same two weeks. Families at Cathedral and John Connon School in Fort, Bombay International School at Babulnath, Aditya Birla World Academy in Tardeo and Oberoi International School at Goregaon East are all working to some version of this shape, as are families at NES International School in Mulund West and Thakur International School in Kandivali East.

Then comes the stretch between the mocks and the written papers, which is where ongoing arrangements prove their worth and where they most often get cancelled. There are no internal deadlines in that window, motivation drops, and a parent looking at a flat mock result reasonably asks whether the money is working. This is precisely the wrong moment to stop. The mock result reflects the state of things six weeks earlier, and the gains from an autumn of foundation work show up in the papers that follow, not in the mock that interrupted them.

A note on why schools appear here at all. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform, not affiliated with any school named on this page and not affiliated with Cambridge International Education. Schools are named because their calendars set the real dates an arrangement has to work around, and a tutor who does not know when your child's mock window falls cannot plan a term. Ask your school for the assessment calendar in writing at the start of the year, give the tutor a copy, and ask the tutor to mark the two weeks they intend to treat differently.

  • Term-long engagements should start with the academic year, not after the mocks.
  • October and November internal assessments are when most parents notice the problem.
  • The winter mock fortnight collides with deadlines in several other subjects at once.
  • The post-mock stretch is the worst time to cancel and the most common time families do.
  • IB Gram is independent and not affiliated with any school named here.

Home Classes, Online or Both Across a Full Mumbai Term

Over a term rather than a session, home tuition has one advantage that compounds: the tutor sees the working as it happens, week after week, and builds an accurate picture of how your child thinks under mild pressure. That picture is what makes the error catalogue useful by February. A tutor who has only ever seen finished answers on a screen has a thinner file to work from. For a Year 9 or Year 10 student who has not yet learned to sit down with maths unprompted, the physical fixture of somebody arriving at the door is doing work that nothing else replaces. This is why IGCSE home tuition in Mumbai remains the lead request we receive and the mode we recommend first where the logistics allow.

The honest cost of home delivery across a term is fragility of a different kind. One tutor, one route, one slot: when the tutor has their own exam duties, a family wedding or a health week, the slot is simply gone unless continuity has been arranged in advance. Travel also prices in, and it prices in every week, not once. And in the final term, when you may want two sessions rather than one, a travel-dependent arrangement can usually only give you one. These are not reasons to avoid home tuition; they are reasons to put a fallback in writing in week one.

Online is the sensible fallback rather than the rival, and over a long engagement most families use it that way. A standing in-person slot plus the ability to move a session online when Ghodbunder Road floods, when the tutor is travelling, or when your child needs twenty minutes of question help before a test, is a more robust arrangement than either mode alone. An IGCSE online tutor in Mumbai covering a missed week is better than a cancelled week. Families in Navi Mumbai and Thane adopt this fastest because they already know what the creek and the highway cost in July.

The hybrid that works best across a term is deliberate rather than accidental: the longer in-person session each week for new teaching and for reviewing marked written work, and a short online session or check-in midweek for practice feedback. Set that structure at the start rather than drifting into it. What we will not tell you is that the modes are interchangeable; they are not, and a term delivered entirely online demands considerably more independence from the student than most Year 9 students have. If that describes your child, keep the in-person slot as the backbone and use online only to protect it.

  • Across a term, the in-person tutor builds a far better error catalogue.
  • One tutor, one route, one slot: arrange a fallback in week one.
  • Travel costs recur weekly and limit you to one session in the final term.
  • Use online to rescue a missed week rather than as a substitute mode.
  • Set the hybrid split deliberately at the start instead of drifting into it.

Tutor Checks, and What Continuity Looks Like When Your Tutor Is Unavailable

Every tutor submits government photo identification, degree or teaching qualification documents and a work history that we contact references about. For 0607 specifically there is a subject check, because somebody can hold a strong Maths degree and have never set a modelling task or marked an investigation write-up. We ask candidates to teach an unfamiliar question aloud rather than solve it, because the ability to explain a first move to a stuck fifteen-year-old is the actual job. Tutors who solve fluently and cannot teach are not listed against this code.

For an ongoing arrangement there is a second question that one-off bookings never raise: what happens in the weeks your tutor cannot come. Over a nine-month engagement there will be some. A tutor with their own school commitments has busy assessment periods; people travel, people fall ill, and in Mumbai a monsoon week occasionally decides for everybody. Settle this before you start. Our standing position is that a missed session is either moved within the same week or credited, not lost, and that a tutor who will be away for more than a fortnight nominates a substitute and hands over written notes covering what has been taught, what is still open and the current error list.

Substitution is worth being realistic about. A substitute tutor for two sessions is a bridge, not a replacement, and the right expectation is that they keep the routine and the practice going rather than starting new content. If the absence is going to run longer than a few weeks, it is usually better to switch tutors properly with a handover than to patch with substitutes, because a student who meets three different teaching styles in a month loses more than they gain. Say early which you would prefer and we will plan for it rather than improvising when it happens.

Your own checks are the ones that matter most. Over the first month, confirm that the tutor arrives on time, leaves a written note, remembers what they set last week and can tell you what changed. Those four things predict a successful year better than any credential. And be wary of a tutor who offers a guaranteed grade or a specific mark improvement: IB Gram does not guarantee grades, and a tutor who promises a particular outcome is substituting a number for a plan. Ask what they expect to have fixed in four weeks and hold them to that instead.

  • Photo identification, qualification documents and contacted references for every tutor.
  • A 0607 subject check that asks the candidate to teach, not just solve.
  • Missed sessions are moved within the week or credited, never silently lost.
  • Absences beyond a fortnight trigger a named substitute and written handover notes.
  • Be wary of a tutor who offers a guaranteed grade instead of a four-week plan.

What Does the Hourly Rate Include, and What Does It Not?

Ask this question before you book, because the answer varies between tutors far more than the headline rate does, and two tutors quoting the same number can be selling quite different amounts of work. A rate for Cambridge IGCSE International Maths 0607 home tuition in Mumbai normally includes the contact hour itself, the planning that precedes it, and travel to your home. What it often does not include, and what you should ask about explicitly, is marking of work done between sessions, a written progress note, past paper material, answering a question over a message on a weekday evening, a longer written report at the end of a term, and additional sessions in the final exam weeks. None of those is unreasonable to charge for. All of them are unreasonable to discover in month three.

Here is what fees genuinely depend on, in roughly the order of how much they move the number. The board and the level come first, since IGCSE Extended work prices above a middle-school rate. Then subject scarcity, and this is the one that bites on 0607: the number of tutors in any single part of the city who have actually taught the modelling and investigation components is small, and scarcity prices. Then session length and frequency, where a ninety-minute session is not simply one and a half times a sixty-minute one because the planning overhead does not scale. Then delivery mode and travel, which on a home arrangement means both distance and hour, because a 7.30pm slot across the Western Express Highway costs the tutor an evening.

What IGCSE tuition fees in Mumbai should not depend on is how worried you sound. Agree the rate, the inclusions and the review point in writing before the first session, and agree when the rate can change: a sensible arrangement reviews at the start of a new term rather than mid-engagement, and a mid-term increase should come with a reason and notice. If a tutor raises the rate in the final exam weeks, when switching is hardest, that tells you something about the next year as well. We publish no price list on this page because any single figure without level, scarcity, length and travel attached to it would mislead you, and you will see the actual rate before you commit rather than after the first invoice.

Payment rhythm is worth settling at the same time. Monthly in arrears against sessions actually delivered is the cleanest arrangement for both sides and is what we would suggest. Paying for a long block in advance buys a small discount and costs you leverage, which matters precisely in the situation where you most need it, namely a tutor who is not working out in week five. If you do prepay a block, agree in writing what happens to unused sessions when the engagement ends. Parents who search for an IGCSE private tutor Mumbai agencies quote by the package often find the package is the part they regret, not the rate.

  • Confirm whether marking, written notes and message support are inside the rate.
  • Fees track board and level, subject scarcity, session length, mode and travel.
  • Ninety minutes is not one and a half hours of cost; planning does not scale.
  • Agree in writing when the rate may be reviewed, and with what notice.
  • Monthly in arrears keeps leverage; prepaid blocks remove it when you need it.

What Does a Month of 0607 Tuition Look Like From a Parent's Side?

A good month is boring and legible. Four sessions happen in the slot they were meant to happen in. After each one you get three or four sentences: what was covered, what your child found hard, what has been set for the week, and whether last week's set work was done. At the end of the month you can answer two questions without asking anybody, namely what your child is currently working on and what their two main recurring errors are. If you cannot answer those after four sessions of Cambridge IGCSE International Maths 0607 home tuition in Mumbai, the reporting is inadequate and that is a fixable problem you should raise immediately rather than at the end of term.

Progress reaching you between sessions is the part most arrangements get wrong, and the fix is small. Agree the format in week one: a short message after each session, a slightly longer written summary once a month, and one direct conversation at the end of each term. Do not ask for a weekly phone call, because tutors start padding and you start getting reassurance instead of information. The single most useful thing in any note is the sentence about whether the set work was actually done, since that is the variable you control and the tutor does not.

On the four-week horizon, expect a diagnosis rather than a grade: the two or three specific leaks costing marks. On a term, expect changed behaviour on unfamiliar questions, which on 0607 means attempting an investigation task instead of leaving it blank. Across a full exam cycle, consistent weekly work with somebody who knows this code improves the conversion of understanding into marks on the page, which is frequently worth a grade. It is not a promise. IB Gram does not guarantee grades, because the hours your child puts in alone and the particular paper that arrives are not ours to control.

The limits deserve stating without hedging. Tuition cannot repair two years of missed foundations in eight weeks, and any tutor who says it can is taking your money. A mid-term dip is normal, usually around the mocks, and is not a reason to switch. A student who will not do independent work will not be rescued by a third session a week. And if your child's difficulty is anxiety or attention rather than mathematics, a maths tutor is the wrong first intervention and a decent one will tell you so in month one rather than billing you for six.

  • Four sessions in the agreed slot, each followed by a three-sentence note.
  • Agree reporting format in week one: note per session, monthly summary, termly conversation.
  • The most useful line in any note is whether the set work was done.
  • Four weeks buys a diagnosis; a term buys changed behaviour on unfamiliar questions.
  • We do not guarantee grades, and eight weeks cannot replace two missed years.

Starting, Pausing or Ending a Term-Long 0607 Engagement in Mumbai

To start, send four things and the first session can be teaching rather than interviewing. The most recent marked Maths assessment with the marker's comments still on it, the school's assessment calendar for the year, written confirmation of the Core or Extended entry, and the graphic display calculator with its model number. If the school issues a scheme of work, add that. Then say which slot you intend to keep and for how long, because that sentence determines whether we shortlist a teacher or a triage specialist. International Mathematics (0607) home classes Mumbai families set up this way start producing useful information in week two instead of week six.

Pausing is normal and should be planned rather than negotiated under pressure. Long school holidays, a family trip, a heavy fortnight in other subjects, and the week either side of the written papers themselves are all reasonable pauses. The convention worth agreeing in advance is a fortnight's notice for a planned pause and a cap on how long a slot is held, since a tutor cannot keep a weekday evening empty indefinitely. If you expect to pause for a month or more, say whether you want the slot held, because holding it may carry a retainer and not holding it means re-matching in a tighter market.

Ending should be equally undramatic. Give the notice you agreed, usually two weeks or two sessions, and ask for a closing handover: what was covered, what remains open, and the current error list. That document is worth more than you expect, because it saves the next tutor a month of rediscovery and it tells you honestly where your child stands. If you are ending because the fit is wrong rather than because the work is done, tell us the specific reason. A tutor who explains well but never checks understanding needs a different successor than one who was simply dull, and the rematch is only as good as the reason we are given.

A last word on how to frame the search. Parents hunting the best IGCSE tutor in Mumbai are looking for a ranking that does not exist; parents searching IGCSE tutors near me Mumbai are optimising for distance when durability of the slot and genuine 0607 experience matter more. The question that produces a good match is narrower: who has taught this code, at this tier, who can hold a Tuesday at 7pm in my part of the city for the next three terms. Send us the tier, the school, the window and the intended duration, and we will come back with people who can actually hold it.

  • Send the marked assessment, assessment calendar, tier confirmation and calculator model.
  • Say the intended duration; it decides whether you need a teacher or a triage plan.
  • Agree a fortnight's notice for a planned pause and whether the slot is held.
  • Ask for a closing handover: covered, open, and the current error list.
  • Give the specific reason for ending, because it shapes who replaces them.
FAQs

Mumbai tutoring — questions parents ask

How many sessions a week do we actually need for 0607?+

One a week for most students, two if your child is behind on Extended-tier content or is in the final timed-practice term. Three rarely helps, because beyond a point the constraint is independent work rather than teaching hours, and a crowded week reduces the time your child spends alone with a pen. Start with one and a clear set of between-session work, then review after a month against whether that work is actually being done. Adding a session to compensate for undone homework is the most common and least effective change parents make.

How does a tutor get gate access and a society pass for a standing weekly slot?+

Register the tutor with your building as a regular visitor rather than clearing them at the gate each week. Most Mumbai societies will issue a standing or recurring visitor entry once a resident confirms the name, phone number and weekly slot in writing to the office, and some ask for identification to be left on file. Do this in the first fortnight. The alternative is fifteen minutes lost at the gate every week and a tutor who starts late through no fault of their own, which over a term adds up to the better part of two sessions.

What happens if the tutor is stuck in traffic and the evening session starts late?+

Agree the rule before it happens: a short delay runs the session short and is not charged differently, while a delay beyond about twenty minutes moves the session rather than compressing it. Compressed sessions are the ones that teach nothing, because the review portion gets cut and the review is where the learning is. If lateness becomes a pattern rather than an accident, the slot is wrong for that tutor's route and should be moved earlier or the match changed. Tell us, because a slot that is structurally late will not survive the year.

Do we need a separate room at home or will the dining table do?+

The dining table is fine and often better, provided the television is off and traffic through the room stops for the hour. What matters is a hard surface big enough for a past paper, a notebook and the calculator side by side, decent light, and a charging point. A bedroom with the student on a bed is the worst common setup, because posture collapses and so does attention. Fix the same place every week; the physical consistency does more for a teenager's focus over a term than the choice of room does.

What does the hourly rate include, and what gets billed separately?+

The contact hour, the planning behind it and travel to your home are normally included; marking between sessions, written progress notes, past paper material, message support on weekday evenings, termly written reports and extra sessions in the exam weeks often are not. Ask for the list in writing before the first session. Fees themselves track board and level, how scarce the subject specialism is, session length, frequency, delivery mode and travel distance and hour. We will not print a figure, because a number without those variables attached to it misleads more than it helps.

How will I know progress is happening between sessions?+

Through a short written note after each session, and the note must say whether the set work was done. Agree that format in week one: three or four sentences per session on what was covered, what was hard and what is set, a slightly longer summary monthly, and one conversation at the end of term. Avoid weekly phone calls; they produce reassurance rather than information. By the end of a month you should be able to state your child's two main recurring errors without asking anybody, and if you cannot, the reporting needs fixing.

What happens when our tutor is unavailable for two or three weeks?+

A named substitute keeps the routine going, or the sessions are moved or credited, and that choice should be yours. A substitute is a bridge rather than a replacement, so the right brief for them is practice and consolidation rather than new content. For absences longer than a few weeks a proper switch with a written handover usually beats patching, because three teaching styles in a month costs a student more than a pause does. Settle the policy before the engagement starts rather than when the message arrives on a Monday afternoon.

When should we start if my child sits the May and June series?+

At the start of the academic year for a term-long engagement, and no later than the end of the autumn term if you intend to change a grade. Starting after the winter mocks is still worth doing, but it converts the work from teaching to triage and you should be told that at the outset. The worst timing decision is not starting late; it is stopping in the flat stretch between the mocks and the written papers, because a mock reflects the position six weeks earlier and the autumn work shows up afterwards.

Can we pause over the long holidays and keep the same slot?+

Usually yes, with notice, and it is worth asking how long the slot will be held. A fortnight's notice for a planned pause is the convention, and most tutors will hold a weekday evening for a few weeks but not a whole term, because they cannot leave the hour empty indefinitely. If the pause runs longer, you are choosing between a retainer to hold the slot and re-matching afterwards in a tighter market. Short holiday pauses rarely cost progress; pausing through the autumn assessment window usually does.

How much notice do we give to end the arrangement?+

Two weeks or two sessions is the usual convention, and it should be written down before you start rather than improvised at the end. Ask for a closing handover covering what was taught, what is still open and the current list of recurring errors. That document saves the next tutor a month of rediscovery and gives you an honest read on where your child stands. If you are ending over fit rather than completion, give us the specific reason, because a vague reason produces a vague replacement.

Is a term-long engagement better value than booking before exams?+

For changing a grade, yes, and by a wide margin. A term-long arrangement pays for calculator habit, an error catalogue built over months and repeated exposure to unfamiliar question types, none of which compress into six weeks. An exam-term engagement is still worth having, but its job is triage: identify where marks are cheapest to recover and deliberately abandon the rest. The expensive mistake is buying the term-long product and leaving after five weeks, which pays for the setup and skips the return.

Can one tutor take both my children, or 0607 plus a second subject?+

Two siblings in one session rarely works unless they are on the same tier and within a year of each other, and even then the weaker one tends to go quiet. Two subjects with one tutor works when the pair is close, Maths with Physics for instance, and fails when it is Maths with a humanities subject at Extended depth. An IGCSE tutor Mumbai parents share between two children usually costs less and delivers less than two shorter separate sessions. Tell us both needs and the weekly window and we will say which structure holds.

Send us the 0607 tier in writing, your child's school, the weekday slot you can genuinely keep for three terms, and whether you want a term-long engagement or an exam-term plan. We come back with two or three tutors who have taught this code and can hold that slot from where they live. You sit in on a paid trial, agree the rate and inclusions in writing, and start with a four-week plan rather than a vague commitment.
