Cambridge IGCSE History (0470) Home Tuition in Mumbai

Cambridge IGCSE History 0470 home tuition in Mumbai is an arrangement, not an appointment. The questions that decide whether it works are how many hours a week, for how many months, what the rate covers, how you hear about progress between sessions, and what happens when a tutor is unavailable in December. This page answers those.

Tutors are shortlisted on slot availability to the exam series, not just subject
A written update reaches you after every fourth session, in plain language
Rate, session length and included marking are agreed before lesson one
You can pause an engagement for a school trip or a holiday month

Setting up Cambridge IGCSE History 0470 home tuition in Mumbai for a full term

Hiring for a term is a different purchase from hiring for an evening, and the brief should look different too. The useful message tells us the shape of the arrangement you want: 'Year 11, History 0470, one ninety-minute session a week from now until the mocks, Tuesday or Thursday at 7pm, Khar West, we want written feedback monthly.' That is a brief a tutor can accept or decline honestly. 'Looking for a History tutor' is the beginning of a conversation about availability that will take three days and may end nowhere.

Availability is the thing most families underweight and most arrangements die of. A tutor who is free in July is not necessarily free in November, because by then their Year 11 board slots are full and yours is the one that gets moved. So the shortlist we build for an ongoing engagement is filtered on whether the tutor can hold your specific slot through to study leave, with the December mock fortnight and the February revision crunch already accounted for. A brilliant IGCSE home tutor in Mumbai who can only commit to eight weeks is the wrong hire for a Year 10 and the right hire for a March emergency.

After that the filters are ordinary. Which depth study the school chose, because a tutor who has taught it to examination works faster than one meeting it for the first time. Whether the cohort sits coursework or the written alternative. What the last two marked answers looked like. Whether your child has ever worked with a tutor before, since a first-time student needs a slower start and a parent who understands that.

You then take one working session before committing to anything longer. The tutor arrives, works for the agreed length, and sends a short written diagnosis the next day. Only after you have read that do you confirm the standing slot, the rate, the session length, what marking is included and how much notice either side gives. Putting those five things in writing takes one message and prevents almost every argument that happens later in a long engagement.

  • 1. Send year group, depth study, the slot you want and how long you want it for
  • 2. We filter on tutors who can hold that slot through to the exam series
  • 3. One working session happens, with a written diagnosis the following day
  • 4. You confirm slot, rate, session length, included marking and notice period
  • 5. The first written progress update follows after the fourth session

Which Cambridge route, and how long should the engagement run?

Two engagement shapes cover almost every family. A term-long engagement runs from the start of the school year to study leave and treats History as a subject being learned. An exam-term engagement starts after the December mocks and treats History as a paper being prepared for. They need different tutors, different session lengths and different money, and confusing them is the most expensive mistake on this page.

Before either one, establish what your child is actually entered for. History 0470 sits under Cambridge International Education across Years 9 to 11. It is not Middle Years Programme (MYP) Individuals and Societies, not International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) History and not ICSE History and Civics, and several Mumbai schools switch cohorts between systems at the end of Year 9 without ever spelling it out to parents. A History (0470) IGCSE Years 9-11 tutor Mumbai families engage on the wrong assumption spends the first fortnight teaching skills the examiner will never ask for.

The term-long shape suits a Year 10, a Year 11 with real content gaps, and any student whose school reports say the knowledge is there and the writing is not. It assumes one session a week for most of the year, homework between, and a slow build from note-making to timed answers. It is cheaper per week of benefit and more expensive in total, because there are simply more weeks in it. It is also the only shape that can fix a depth study the student never properly learned the first time.

The exam-term shape is narrower and sharper. It assumes content is broadly in place, and spends every session on question types, timing and markscheme language, with a volume of written answers that would exhaust a Year 10. It can move a grade. It cannot rebuild a year, and a History (0470) tutor in Mumbai who accepts an exam-term engagement for a student with no notes is accepting a job that cannot be done. Ask the tutor which shape they think your child needs after the diagnostic session, and take the answer seriously even when it costs more than you hoped.

  • Term-long: start of year to study leave, one session a week, content plus technique
  • Exam-term: after the December mocks, question types and timing only
  • Confirm the syllabus and component route with your examinations officer first
  • An exam-term engagement cannot rebuild a year of missing notes
  • Let the diagnostic session decide the shape, not the budget

How many hours a week actually move a History grade?

One ninety-minute session a week moves a History grade for most students, provided the student writes something between sessions. Two sessions a week help a Year 11 with a genuine content gap. Three almost never helps anyone, because History improves through writing and reflection, and a student in session three days out of seven has no clear stretch of time left in which to write anything of their own.

The arithmetic is worth saying plainly. Cambridge IGCSE History 0470 home tuition in Mumbai bought as one session a week across a school year gives you roughly thirty working sessions, minus Diwali, minus a school trip, minus two illnesses. That is enough to cover the depth study properly, drill Paper 2 source technique to the point where utility questions stop frightening the student, and run perhaps eight or nine timed Paper 1 answers under proper conditions. It is not enough to also rebuild two years of absent notes, which is why the diagnostic session matters.

Where the hours go changes across the year. Early on, more of the session goes to the depth study and to making notes that can actually be revised from, because most students arrive with pages that cannot be used. By the middle of Year 11 the balance tips towards Paper 2 source investigation, which is the component that rewards drilling most reliably: provenance, cross-referencing, and what a source is useful for rather than whether it is true. In the final stretch almost everything goes to Paper 1 structured questions under time, because that is where stamina and ordering decide the mark.

The homework multiplier is the number nobody quotes. A ninety-minute session with no writing between produces a student who understands History and cannot do it. Assume an hour of written work set between sessions, and tell the tutor if that hour is not happening, because the lesson plan has to change if it is not. Families who protect that hour see movement in six weeks. Families who do not see movement in a term and then blame the tutor, usually unfairly.

  • One session a week suits most students; two suits a real content gap
  • Three sessions a week leaves no time to write, which is where marks come from
  • A school year gives roughly thirty working sessions once breaks are removed
  • Early sessions build usable notes; later ones drill source work and timing
  • Set written work between sessions or the hour inside them is wasted
  • Tell the tutor honestly when homework is not getting done

Holding a weekly slot across Mumbai for thirty weeks

A standing weekly slot is a promise the tutor makes about traffic in a city that does not cooperate, and the geography decides which promises can be kept. In Mumbai, Maharashtra the honest rule is that tutors hold slots along their own corridor and lose them across it. That is why we match within a line rather than across one, and why an arrangement that looked fine in June starts slipping in the monsoon when the same journey takes half an hour longer every week.

In South Mumbai, where Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Walkeshwar and Peddar Road families sit close together, distance is never the problem and the evening signals are: the Peddar Road and Haji Ali stretch can swallow forty minutes between Worli and Colaba, so tutors here are matched within the island, with the Coastal Road and Metro Line 3 making Lower Parel and Cuffe Parade slots more reliable than they used to be. In the Western Suburbs the Western Line and the Western Express Highway run the whole arrangement: Khar to Santacruz West or Bandra to Juhu holds for a year, Bandra to Borivali does not, and Metro Lines 2A and 7 have made Malad and Kandivali slots workable in a way the Bandra-Worli Sea Link never did for anyone north of Juhu.

In the Central Suburbs, Powai and Chandivali have no station of their own, so a weekly slot at Hiranandani Gardens depends on JVLR behaving, with tutors coming from Andheri East, Kanjurmarg or Ghatkopar and the SCLR carrying anyone crossing from Chembur. The Eastern Suburbs, from Chembur and Wadala through Vikhroli and Bhandup to Mulund, run on the Central and Harbour lines and the Eastern Freeway, which is the one road in the city that makes a long slot more reliable rather than less. In Navi Mumbai the nodes do the work: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel are each a short run along Palm Beach Road or the Sion-Panvel Highway, and while the Atal Setu has shortened the island crossing, a tutor crossing the creek weekly for thirty weeks is a promise that usually breaks by November. Thane is the clearest case of all, because Ghodbunder Road sets the clock from the station out to Majiwada and Kasarvadavali.

What all of this means for an ongoing engagement is simple. Ask the tutor where they live before you agree a slot, not after. A family searching 'IGCSE tutors near me Mumbai' and choosing on credentials alone will often hire someone forty minutes further away than they realise, and that gap is paid back in cancellations from August onwards. A slightly less impressive tutor ten minutes away will deliver more sessions over a year than an excellent one who has to cross the city in the rain.

  • South Mumbai: Colaba, Cuffe Parade, Walkeshwar and Peddar Road, matched within the island
  • Western Suburbs: Khar, Santacruz West, Bandra, Juhu, Malad and Borivali along the line
  • Central Suburbs: Powai, Chandivali, Ghatkopar and Mulund, dependent on JVLR and the SCLR
  • Eastern Suburbs: Chembur, Wadala, Vikhroli and Bhandup, helped by the Eastern Freeway
  • Navi Mumbai: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel, matched node to node
  • Thane: Pokhran Road, Majiwada and Kasarvadavali, with Ghodbunder Road deciding timing

Reading the Mumbai school year before you commit to months

The Mumbai school year opens in June and closes with study leave in the spring, and an engagement should be shaped around four fixed pressure points rather than around a round number of months. Term one to Diwali is when content is delivered and when a tutor can still afford to teach slowly. The weeks after Diwali are when unit tests arrive in clusters. December and January bring the pre-boards or mocks, along with coursework drafts at schools taking that route. February and March are revision and study leave, when sessions get longer and more frequent whether you planned for that or not.

Families booking a home tutor for History (0470) Mumbai schools have already pushed into Year 11 are usually reacting to the second of those points, and that is late but workable. Families booking in June are buying the cheapest version of the same outcome, because the work gets spread across more weeks at fewer hours each. The expensive version is March, when the only available sessions are long, frequent and competing with every other subject in the house.

The schools themselves set the rhythm. Children from Cathedral and John Connon School in Fort, Bombay International School at Babulnath, Jamnabai Narsee International School in Juhu, Hiranandani Foundation School in Powai, NES International School in Mulund West, Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School in Thane and D.Y. Patil International School in Nerul all arrive with different internal test calendars, and a tutor who has taught students from your school can usually tell you which fortnight will hurt. Naming a school here is local context only. IB Gram is an independent platform, not affiliated with any school named on this page, and we do not guarantee grades.

One practical consequence: agree in advance what happens during study leave. Most arrangements need more sessions in that period and the tutor's calendar is finite, so the families who ask in November get the extra slots and the families who ask in February get apologies. If your school enters candidates for the October or November series rather than May or June, shift this whole picture by about six months and confirm the series with the examinations officer before planning anything.

  • Term one to Diwali is the cheap window, with content taught at a sane pace
  • Unit tests cluster after Diwali, which is when most families start searching
  • December mocks and coursework drafts land in the same fortnight
  • Book extra study-leave sessions in November, not in February
  • Confirm whether the cohort sits the May or the November series

Why home tuition in Mumbai holds a routine better than the alternatives

Home tuition wins on consistency, which is the only thing that matters across thirty weeks. The materials stay in one place, the folder does not travel, the tutor knows which drawer the past papers live in, and the session happens at the same table at the same hour every week until the habit does the work instead of the willpower. A student who has to be driven to a centre misses sessions in the monsoon. A student whose tutor arrives at the door misses almost none.

There is a second effect that families notice around week six. Because the tutor is in the house, the parent hears thirty seconds of the handover at the door, and that is worth more than any written report. You learn that your daughter argued well today, or that she has not opened the depth study notes since last Tuesday, and you learn it immediately rather than at the end of the month. Cambridge IGCSE History 0470 home classes in Mumbai are the only format where that happens as a side effect rather than as an extra task.

Online has one honest role inside an ongoing arrangement and it is continuity. When a tutor travels for a fortnight, or when a student is recovering from dengue, or when Ghodbunder Road is flooded, an IGCSE online tutor in Mumbai session keeps the week alive instead of surrendering it. Agree that fallback at the start so nobody is negotiating it on a Thursday evening. Treating online as a replacement for the whole engagement is a different decision and a different page.

Hybrid by design, rather than hybrid by accident, suits exactly one group: students whose depth-study specialist lives too far away to come weekly. One travelled session a fortnight plus one screen session a week can work for them if the days are fixed. For everybody else, alternating formats without a rule produces a student who prepares for neither, and an arrangement that quietly halves itself by November while the invoices stay the same size.

  • Home tuition keeps materials, table and hour constant across the whole year
  • The doorstep handover tells a parent more than a monthly written report
  • Agree an online fallback at the start for travel, illness and flooding
  • Hybrid by design works; alternating without a fixed rule does not
  • Centre-based classes lose the most sessions to monsoon travel

Who is coming back to your home every week, and how was that checked?

Before the first session we check government photograph identification against the name on the profile, the qualification claimed, and references from previous families or schools where they exist. We ask which boards and which depth studies the tutor has taught to examination rather than which they studied, because a Modern History degree is not evidence of having marked a Cambridge structured question. For an ongoing engagement we also ask the question that only matters over time: how many standing slots the tutor is already holding, and at what hours.

Your own checks are different from ours and more useful after week one. At the door, note whether the tutor arrives with anything. A tutor carrying a marked answer from last week and a plan for this one is working between sessions. A tutor arriving empty-handed every week for a month is improvising, and improvising is affordable in an eight-week sprint and ruinous over a year. An IGCSE private tutor Mumbai parents keep for a full year is almost always someone whose preparation is visible without being asked for.

Verification also has a month-two version that almost nobody does. Ask to see the running record: which components have been covered, which past questions have been attempted, what the last three marks were. A tutor who can produce that in two minutes has been keeping it. A tutor who promises to send it later and does not has been teaching from memory, which works until the fortnight before the paper when a revision order has to be built from something.

Be wary of a tutor who offers a guaranteed grade, and be equally wary of one who will not say what is not working. The useful tutor tells you in week four that your son will not pass Paper 2 on current effort, and tells you what would change that. The comfortable tutor tells you he is doing well, collects the fee for nine months, and lets the mock deliver the news instead.

  • Photograph identification and qualification checked before the first session
  • Depth studies taught to examination, not subjects studied at university
  • Watch whether the tutor arrives with last week's marked work in hand
  • Ask in month two for the running record of components and marks
  • A tutor who never reports bad news is not reporting anything useful

What does an hourly rate for History home tuition in Mumbai cover?

An hourly rate normally covers the session itself, the planning behind it, and marking of the work set in that session. It normally does not cover marking a full school mock paper, writing a report for the school, attending a parent meeting, extra sessions during study leave, or travel beyond the radius the tutor agreed to. None of that is hidden. It is simply never discussed, and then it becomes an awkward conversation in February when everybody is tired.

IGCSE tuition fees in Mumbai depend on a short and predictable list: the board and level, how scarce the subject specialist is, session length and frequency, the distance travelled, and the volume of marking between sessions. History is less scarce than Further Maths and more scarce than English, and a specific depth study can make a particular tutor rare in a particular suburb. There is no price list here because any figure would be wrong for somebody's subject, somebody's suburb and somebody's month, which is a better reason than modesty.

Billing is usually monthly in advance or at the end of each month, counted in sessions rather than calendar weeks, and the single clause worth insisting on is what happens to a cancelled session. The fair version most tutors already use: the family gives twenty-four hours and the session is rescheduled or not charged, less notice than that and it is charged, and a tutor who cancels makes the time up within a fortnight. Write that down in the first message and it never needs discussing again.

Pausing and ending deserve the same clarity. A pause for a family holiday or a school trip is ordinary and most tutors will hold a slot for two or three weeks, though not indefinitely, because the hour gets offered to somebody else. Ending is easier than families fear: two weeks of notice is normal courtesy, the tutor hands over the running record, and nobody needs to invent a reason. What you should avoid is the slow fade, where sessions get cancelled one at a time until the arrangement dies without anybody deciding. Say it plainly, ask for the notes, and if the subject still needs work, ask us to shortlist again the same week.

  • Rate normally covers the session, the planning and marking of work set
  • Mock marking, school reports and study-leave extras are usually separate
  • Agree the cancellation rule in writing before the first session happens
  • Fees depend on board, scarcity, session length, travel and marking volume
  • A pause of two or three weeks is normal; an indefinite pause loses the slot
  • End with two weeks of notice and ask for the running record

What a month of History home tuition looks like, week by week

Week one is diagnostic and should feel slightly uncomfortable. The tutor asks your child to write a short answer cold, reads the last marked work, finds out whether the notes are usable, and sends you two named weaknesses by component the next day. Week two attacks the smaller of the two, because an early visible win buys cooperation from a sceptical fifteen-year-old. Week three sets the first piece of real written homework and reveals whether it gets done. Week four produces a timed answer and the first written update that is worth reading.

That update is how progress reaches a parent between sessions, and it should be three short paragraphs rather than a form. What was covered. What the student can now do that they could not do four weeks ago. What is not happening, usually homework or note-making. History (0470) home classes Mumbai parents are happy with a year later almost always have this rhythm, and the ones that end badly almost always have a tutor who reports only when asked.

Between the written updates, ask for the smaller signal: a two-line message after any session where a marked answer was returned, with the mark and one sentence about why. That is thirty seconds of the tutor's time and it is the difference between knowing in week five that Paper 2 utility answers are still scoring poorly and discovering it at the December mock. If a tutor will not do that, it is worth knowing early.

Across a term, expect the shape rather than a straight line. Four weeks buys a diagnosis and one repaired skill. One term moves a grade for most students whose problem was technique rather than missing content, and moves less for students rebuilding two years of notes. A mock can read worse than a unit test because a full paper under time is a harder thing, and that is information rather than failure. IB Gram does not guarantee grades, and no honest tutor will put a number on an outcome nine months away.

  • Week one diagnoses cold, with two named weaknesses sent the next day
  • Week two takes the easier weakness to buy the student's cooperation
  • Week three tests whether written homework is actually getting done
  • Week four produces a timed answer and the first written update
  • Ask for a two-line message whenever a marked answer comes back
  • Expect a dip at the first full mock; it is information, not failure

Starting Cambridge IGCSE History 0470 home tuition in Mumbai this term

Four things get an arrangement started properly. The year group and the depth study the school chose. Two marked answers photographed with the teacher's comments left in. The slot you can genuinely hold every week, named as a day and an hour rather than as 'evenings'. And how long you want this to run, in months, even if the answer is 'until the mocks and then we will see'.

The first session is working time, not an interview, and it ends with a diagnosis rather than a sales pitch. The next day you get two named weaknesses, the component each sits in, and a plan for the first four sessions. Read it before you confirm anything longer. Then put the five practical terms in one message: slot, session length, rate, what marking is included, and the notice either side gives. Cambridge IGCSE History 0470 home tutoring in Mumbai goes wrong far more often through unspoken terms than through weak teaching.

If you are reading this in June or July, you are in the comfortable position and should book the slot you want rather than the slot that is left. If you are reading this after the December mocks, say so in your first message, because the shortlist for an exam-term engagement is different: fewer tutors, longer sessions, more marking, and a plan built around question types rather than around the depth study.

Parents often start out searching for the best IGCSE tutor in Mumbai, which is a reasonable instinct and the wrong target. What you want is the tutor who can hold your Tuesday at 7pm from now until study leave, who has taught your child's depth study to examination, and who will tell you in week four what is not working. Send the four things above and a shortlist comes back with what each tutor has taught and which slots they can actually keep.

  • Send year group, depth study, two marked answers and your real weekly slot
  • Say how many months you want the arrangement to run, even approximately
  • Confirm slot, length, rate, included marking and notice in one message
  • Exam-term engagements need a different shortlist from term-long ones
  • Ask which slots a tutor can still hold in December before you agree one
FAQs

Mumbai tutoring — questions parents ask

How many hours a week of History home tuition actually help?+

One ninety-minute session a week is enough for most students, as long as something gets written between sessions. Two sessions a week are worth it for a Year 11 with real content gaps, or for a student carrying a depth study they never learned properly. Three rarely helps, because History improves by writing and thinking, and a student in class three evenings a week has no uninterrupted stretch left for either. If you are tempted by three, buy two and protect an hour of written homework instead.

Do we pay monthly or per session, and what does the rate cover?+

Most arrangements are billed monthly, counted in sessions delivered rather than calendar weeks, either in advance or at the end of the month. The rate normally covers the session, the preparation behind it and marking of the work set in that session. It usually excludes marking a full school mock, writing anything for the school, attending a parent meeting at school, and additional sessions during study leave. Ask for all of that in one message before the first session so nothing becomes a negotiation later in the year.

What happens to our weekly evening slot during Diwali and study leave?+

Most families pause through Diwali and most tutors expect that, so say it in October rather than cancelling week by week. Study leave is the opposite situation: demand for sessions goes up, tutors' calendars fill from November onwards, and the families who ask early get the extra hours. If you think you will want two or three sessions a week in February, put that request in writing in November. A tutor cannot create hours in the last fortnight, however good the relationship has been.

Our tutor is away for two weeks in December. Does everything stop?+

Not if you agreed a fallback at the start. The three workable options are an online session for those two weeks, a double session before and after, or a named substitute from the same shortlist who receives the running record. Decide which one you prefer at the beginning, because December is the worst month to improvise: your child is sitting mocks and nobody has spare attention. A tutor who gives you four weeks of notice for planned absence is behaving properly rather than letting you down.

Can one tutor hold the same slot from June right through to the exams?+

Yes, and it is the single best predictor of a good outcome, but it has to be asked about at the start. Ask directly how many standing slots the tutor already holds and whether yours could be moved if a board candidate needs that hour in January. An honest answer tells you a lot. Tutors who live within fifteen minutes of your building hold slots for a year far more reliably than ones crossing the city, which matters more than any difference in qualifications.

How do we find out what happened in each week's session?+

Two mechanisms, and you should insist on both. A short written update after every fourth session covering what was taught, what the student can now do, and what is not happening. Plus a two-line message whenever a marked answer is returned, giving the mark and one sentence of explanation. Thirty seconds of writing from the tutor keeps you informed without turning it into an administrative burden. If a tutor resists the smaller of those two, that is worth knowing in week three rather than after the mock.

What is not included in the hourly rate?+

Typically: marking a full mock paper the school has already set, writing a report or reference for the school, attending a school parent meeting, extra sessions during study leave, and travel beyond the radius the tutor agreed to. Also typically excluded is a rewrite of coursework, which no honest tutor should be doing anyway. None of this is a trap. It is simply unstated until February, when everybody is tired and a reasonable request turns into an uncomfortable conversation about money.

How much notice do we give if we want to end the arrangement?+

Two weeks is normal courtesy on both sides and no reason has to be given. Ask the tutor to hand over the running record, which should list components covered, past questions attempted and the last few marks, so a replacement does not start from zero. Avoid the slow fade, where sessions get cancelled one at a time until the arrangement dies unannounced; it wastes a term and leaves the next tutor with nothing. If the subject still needs work, ask us to shortlist again in the same week.

Can we pause for a month and restart without losing the tutor?+

Two or three weeks is usually fine and most tutors will hold the slot. A full month is harder, because that hour gets offered to somebody else and standing slots at 7pm are the scarcest thing a tutor owns. If a long pause is unavoidable, ask whether the tutor will take a reduced online session during it to keep the slot nominally alive, or accept that you may return to a different hour. Say it early rather than cancelling week by week, which reads as the arrangement ending.

Is a term-long engagement better value than an exam-term one?+

Per week of benefit, yes; in total cost, no. A term-long engagement spreads the same work across more weeks at fewer hours each, which suits the way History is actually learned and leaves room to rebuild notes and teach a depth study properly. An exam-term engagement is sharper and shorter and can move a grade, but it cannot replace a missing year. Pick on what your child needs rather than on the total, and let the diagnostic session cast the deciding vote.

Will a tutor travel to Mulund or Thane for a standing weekly slot through the monsoon?+

Tutors who live in Mulund, Thane or along the Eastern Express Highway will; tutors crossing from the Western Suburbs often will not, whatever they say in June. The monsoon is the real test of a weekly arrangement, and Ghodbunder Road in July is where good intentions go to die. Ask where the tutor lives before agreeing a slot, and agree an online fallback for washed-out evenings. Ten minutes of distance delivers more sessions across a year than any amount of enthusiasm.

We like the tutor but have no evidence of improvement. What should we ask for?+

Ask for three specific things in one message: the running record of components covered, the last three marks on written answers with the markscheme band, and what the tutor will do differently over the next four sessions. A tutor who is working will send all three within a day. A tutor who is improvising will send reassurance instead, and that answer is itself the information you needed. If six to eight weeks of kept sessions and completed homework have produced nothing, the match is wrong and we will shortlist again.

Find your Mumbai tutor

Send us the year group, the depth study, two photographed marked answers, and the weekly slot you can genuinely hold. Say how many months you want it to run. We come back with two or three tutors who can keep that slot through to study leave, with what each has taught and what their rate covers. One working session happens, a written diagnosis follows the next day, and only then do you confirm anything longer.
