How does IB Gram find a Global Perspectives home tutor who can actually reach you in Mumbai?

Most parents arrive here after typing IGCSE tutors near me Mumbai into Google and getting a list ordered by nothing in particular. We start somewhere else: with the travel question, not the credentials question. A Cambridge IGCSE Global Perspectives 0457 home tutor in Mumbai who reads beautifully on paper but lives forty minutes the wrong side of the Western Express Highway will be ten minutes late in July, apologetic in September and gone by November. So the first filter on your enquiry is geographic. Which corridor is your building on, which station or highway serves it, and which tutors already teach inside a twenty-five minute door-to-door run of it at the hour you actually want.

That means your enquiry needs four things from you and nothing more: your building or society name and its nearest landmark, the year group your child is in, the two or three evening windows that genuinely work for your household, and whether an adult is normally home during those windows. Everything else, including what your child's school expects from the individual report and the team project, we establish on the first visit rather than guessing at it over chat. Parents who send a long academic history and no address get a slower shortlist, not a faster one.

From there the shortlist is built outward from your pin, not downward from a ranking. We look at tutors whose existing Tuesday and Thursday commitments sit on the same corridor as you, because a tutor already teaching in Chembur at five can reach Ghatkopar East by half past six without crossing the city. We send you two or three names with their travel route, their stated arrival window and their Cambridge IGCSE teaching background, and you pick who visits first. Nobody is assigned to you.

The first visit is a working session, not an interview with a sales person. The tutor sees the room they will be teaching in, meets whoever is home, looks at the child's current Global Perspectives folder and leaves you with a two-minute handover at the door about what they found. If that handover tells you something you did not already know about your own child, you have the right tutor. If it is generic praise, say so and we move on.

  • 1. Send your society name, nearest landmark, year group and two evening windows
  • 2. We filter tutors by door-to-door travel time on your corridor first
  • 3. You get two or three names with route, arrival window and Cambridge background
  • 4. You choose who visits; the first session is real teaching, not a pitch
  • 5. Door handover after every visit tells you what was covered and what is next

Where Global Perspectives 0457 sits in a Cambridge IGCSE pathway

Cambridge International Education offers Global Perspectives under code 0457 as a full International General Certificate of Secondary Education subject, usually taught across Years 9 to 11 in Mumbai schools, with the examination sitting at the end of the two-year block. It is not General Paper, it is not Theory of Knowledge from the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, and it is not an extra-curricular. It carries a syllabus, an assessment structure and a grade on the certificate like any other subject on the timetable. A Global Perspectives (0457) IGCSE Years 9-11 tutor Mumbai parents hire should be able to make that distinction in two sentences without reaching for a brochure.

What makes it structurally different from your child's other Cambridge IGCSE subjects is that most of the work is produced rather than recalled. A Physics or Chemistry tutor can run a session on a past paper and close the loop in ninety minutes. Global Perspectives work is cumulative: research gathered in August feeds a report drafted in October that is edited in December. Which is why a standing home tuition slot matters more here than in a subject where a parent can buy three intensive sessions before a test and see a result.

Schools across Mumbai, Maharashtra place the subject differently. Some run it as a timetabled subject from Year 9 with a specialist teacher. Others fold it in alongside a second language or an arts option and give it two periods a week with a teacher who also teaches English or Humanities. Before you book anything, establish from your school's examinations officer which code your child is actually entered for, how many periods a week the subject gets, and who inside the school is marking and moderating the coursework components.

We keep the structural detail out of this page on purpose. Cambridge revises subject guides on its own cycle, so component names, weightings and submission deadlines change between cohorts. Ask the school for the current Cambridge syllabus document for the series your child will sit, and bring it to the first visit. A good IGCSE home tutor in Mumbai will read it in front of you rather than tell you what it said two years ago.

  • Global Perspectives 0457 is a full Cambridge IGCSE subject, not an enrichment add-on
  • Work is produced and redrafted over months, not revised in a fortnight
  • Mumbai schools timetable it differently; some give it two periods weekly
  • Confirm the entry code and series with your school's examinations officer
  • Bring the current Cambridge syllabus document to the first home visit

The individual report and the team project, worked at your dining table

The three strands your child will be assessed on are the individual report, the team project and the written examination. What a parent needs to understand about them is not their mark breakdown but their geography: two of the three are produced at home, over weeks, on a laptop, in whatever corner of the flat the child works in. That is the single strongest argument for home tuition in this subject rather than a centre an auto ride away.

Sit a tutor at the dining table next to a Year 10 student drafting the individual report and watch what happens in the first twenty minutes. The tutor sees the eleven browser tabs. They see that nine of them are the same NGO press release reworded, which is why the report has no counter-argument in it. They see the child open a document titled Final Draft 3 and scroll past two earlier drafts that were better structured. None of that is visible when a child shares a screen and narrates what they did. The mess is the diagnosis.

The team project brings a second problem into your living room: it depends on four other teenagers. In Mumbai that usually means a group chat, three members in different suburbs, one who does the slides at eleven at night and one who does nothing. A home tutor who is physically present can help your child write the one message that unblocks the group, draft their own section so it stands alone when the group under-delivers, and keep a dated record of their personal contribution. That is a conversation that happens sideways, over a table, not in a scheduled online slot.

For the written examination the work shifts to reading unseen source material and arguing with it under time pressure. We ask tutors to run that component at your table with a physical printout, a pen and a visible clock, because a child who has only ever argued in a comment box writes differently when the page is in front of them. A Global Perspectives (0457) tutor in Mumbai who understands the subject will spend as much time on source scepticism as on essay structure.

  • Two of three assessed strands are produced at home over several weeks
  • A tutor beside the child sees the tabs, the drafts and the shortcuts
  • Team project support includes protecting your child's individual contribution
  • Examination practice runs on paper with a clock, not in a document
  • Source scepticism gets as much table time as paragraph structure

Mumbai corridor by corridor: who we can send, and at what hour

Mumbai is not one catchment. It is six, and they do not behave the same way after five in the evening. We match a Cambridge IGCSE Global Perspectives 0457 home tutor in Mumbai within a corridor wherever we can, and we tell you plainly when a cross-city match is the only option so you can decide whether to accept the risk of it.

In South Mumbai the distances are short and the clock is still against you. A tutor coming from Worli to Colaba covers eight kilometres and can lose forty minutes at the Peddar Road and Haji Ali signals in the evening peak, so families in Cuffe Parade, Fort, Walkeshwar, Tardeo and Babulnath are matched inside the island rather than from the suburbs. The Western Line into Churchgate, Grant Road and Mumbai Central, the Harbour Line through Dockyard and Sewri, Metro Line 3 from Cuffe Parade to the Bandra Kurla Complex and the Coastal Road all help, but the last kilometre is still a signal.

The Western Suburbs run north to south along the Western Express Highway and the Western Line, which makes Khar to Santacruz or Malad to Kandivali straightforward and Bandra to Andheri painful at six. Metro Line 1 from Versova through Andheri to Ghatkopar and Metro Lines 2A and 7 from Dahisar down to Gundavali have changed what is possible for tutors living in Borivali, Goregaon, Juhu and Oshiwara. The Central Suburbs sit on the Central Line and the Eastern Express Highway, with Powai and Chandivali hanging off the Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road in between. Powai is the exception worth knowing: physically central, no station of its own, reached by road from Andheri East, Kanjurmarg or Ghatkopar.

The Eastern Suburbs stretch from Chembur and Govandi through Vikhroli and Bhandup to Mulund, on the Central and Harbour lines and the Eastern Express Highway, and the Eastern Freeway and the Santacruz Chembur Link Road make South Mumbai and the western side far more reachable than the map suggests. Navi Mumbai is planned in nodes, so Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel are matched node to node along Palm Beach Road and the Sion Panvel Highway; the Atal Setu has shortened the island run but pulling a tutor across the creek for a weekday evening rarely holds a full term. Thane spreads from the station across Pokhran Road, Majiwada and Ghodbunder Road, and Ghodbunder sets the timetable: twenty minutes to Kasarvadavali off-peak, close to an hour in the evening. For Thane we match Thane tutors, with occasional crossover from Mulund.

  • South Mumbai matched inside the island: Cuffe Parade, Fort, Walkeshwar, Tardeo
  • Western Suburbs matched along the line, not across it: Khar to Santacruz
  • Powai and Chandivali reached by road off JVLR, with no station of their own
  • Navi Mumbai matched node to node: Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar, Panvel
  • Thane scheduled around Ghodbunder Road, which doubles in the evening peak

How does the Mumbai school calendar squeeze a Year 10 Global Perspectives student?

It squeezes in two places: October to November, when coursework drafts and the first set of mock assessments land in the same fortnight, and January to February, when final submissions collide with full mock examinations across every subject. If you are going to start home tuition, start in June or July. A tutor who arrives in December is doing damage control on work that was decided in October.

Families we work with send children to Dhirubhai Ambani International School in the Bandra Kurla Complex, Cathedral and John Connon School in Fort, B.D. Somani International School in Cuffe Parade, Bombay International School at Babulnath, Activity High School on Peddar Road, Aditya Birla World Academy in Tardeo, Jamnabai Narsee International School and Utpal Shanghvi Global School in Juhu, Hiranandani Foundation School in Powai, Oberoi International School off the Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road, Thakur International School in Kandivali East, NES International School in Mulund West, Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School in Thane and D.Y. Patil International School in Nerul. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform and is not affiliated with any of these schools, and naming them here is geography and calendar context only.

The practical consequence of that list is that the pressure dates are not uniform. A school in the Bandra Kurla Complex may want an individual report draft in before the Diwali break, while a Thane school running the same syllabus sets its internal deadline in the week after. So we build the weekly slot around your school's calendar, not a generic one. Ask the class teacher for the internal submission dates in writing at the start of the year and put them on the fridge. Every tutor we send will plan backwards from those dates on the first visit.

The other calendar reality is the Mumbai monsoon. June to September is when a weekly home visit is most likely to slip, and a tutor on the Central Line in a July downpour is not being unprofessional when they message at six. Agree a wet-weather rule in the first week: either the session moves to the same evening online, or it moves to a fixed weekend makeup slot. Households that decide this in June lose almost nothing; households that improvise lose three sessions a monsoon.

  • October to November and January to February are the two real pressure windows
  • Start in June or July; a December start is damage control
  • Get your school's internal submission dates in writing and plan backwards
  • Agree a monsoon rule in week one: same-evening online or weekend makeup
  • School names here are calendar context; IB Gram has no school affiliation

Home tuition first, with online as the honest backup it actually is

A Cambridge IGCSE Global Perspectives 0457 home tutor in Mumbai is the lead service here because this subject is produced at home and the evidence of what is going wrong is lying on the table. The trade-off is real and worth stating: a home visit costs the tutor travel time, which narrows how many tutors can serve you and limits how late in the evening a session can run. You are paying, in availability, for presence.

What presence buys is specific. The tutor controls the room, so the phone goes face down on the sideboard rather than staying in a lap off-camera. They see the child's posture change at the exact sentence where the argument collapses. They can pick up the physical folder and find the teacher's written feedback from September that the child has not read. And they can have ninety seconds with you at the door, which is the most useful ninety seconds in the arrangement and does not exist in any other format. Global Perspectives (0457) home classes Mumbai families keep for a whole year are nearly always built around that door conversation.

Online is the right answer in three situations and we will say so: when your corridor genuinely has no specialist within range, when the child is a confident independent worker who needs argument-checking rather than supervision, and when the monsoon or an exam-season timetable makes travel unworkable for a fortnight. We run IGCSE online tuition in Mumbai for exactly those cases. A standing IGCSE online tutor in Mumbai arrangement is also sensible for a family that moves between two homes during the year.

Hybrid is what most families settle into by the second term, and it is not a compromise so much as a sensible allocation. The weekly in-person visit carries the drafting, the team project politics and the examination practice on paper. A shorter midweek online check-in carries the things that are genuinely screen-shaped: a research question tightened, a bibliography checked, a paragraph read back. We will not pretend a screen session replaces someone at the table, and we will not pretend a family on Ghodbunder Road can host two visits a week in October.

  • Home visits cost travel time, which narrows tutor choice and the latest slot
  • Presence controls the room, the phone and the physical feedback folder
  • Online is right for scarce corridors, independent workers and monsoon weeks
  • Hybrid by term two: visit for drafting, short online slot for checking
  • Nobody here will tell you a screen session equals a tutor at the table

What we check before a tutor rings your bell, and what you check at the door

Before a Cambridge IGCSE Global Perspectives 0457 home tutor in Mumbai appears on your shortlist we verify four things: government photo identity, the degree or teaching qualification claimed, actual Cambridge International Education teaching or examining experience in this subject rather than adjacent Humanities, and two contactable references from previous tutoring or school work. Anything a tutor cannot evidence does not go in their profile. We would rather send you a shorter shortlist than a padded one.

The part you cannot outsource is the door. Your society gate will ask for a name and a phone number, and we will give you the tutor's full name as it appears on their identity document so the visitor register and the identity card match. Check them once yourself on the first visit. A tutor who is comfortable with that is the only kind worth having in your flat, and a tutor who is not has told you something important before the first session starts.

Then there are the softer checks only a parent can make, and they all happen in the first fortnight. Does the tutor arrive inside the window they promised, or does the window quietly drift to twenty minutes later each week? Do they bring their own material, or do they open your child's laptop and improvise? When you ask what was covered, do you get a specific answer about an argument structure, or do you get the word progress? Write down the arrival time for the first four visits. The pattern tells you more than any credential.

One thing to be wary of: a tutor who offers a guaranteed grade. IB Gram does not guarantee grades and no honest tutor will either, because the written examination is marked by Cambridge and the coursework is moderated outside your flat. What a good tutor can promise is attendance, preparation and a clear account of what they did each week. If a conversation starts with an outcome instead of a method, be wary of it and tell us.

  • Identity, qualification, Cambridge subject experience and two references checked
  • Tutor's full legal name given to you so the gate register matches their card
  • Log arrival times for four visits; drift is the earliest warning sign
  • Ask what was covered and expect an argument structure, not the word progress
  • Be wary of anyone offering a guaranteed grade; we do not guarantee grades

Why does travel time decide whether home classes in Mumbai survive to March?

Because the arrangement does not fail in week one, it fails in week fourteen, and travel is what breaks it. A tutor with a fifty minute inbound run in October is spending nearly two hours on the road for a ninety minute session. In June that feels manageable. By the second week of October, with mock marking of their own and the Diwali traffic building, it stops being manageable, and the cancellation arrives on a Tuesday afternoon. This is why we treat the corridor as a hard constraint rather than a preference, and it is the whole reason a home tutor for Global Perspectives (0457) Mumbai families keep for a full year is almost always one who lives within one corridor of them.

So the sequence to get right is the sequence of your own evening. Mumbai school pickup, the drive home, a meal, and only then a session. Families who book a six o'clock slot in Andheri because it sounds early discover that the tutor is fighting the Western Express Highway at precisely the worst hour, and the child is eating at the table the tutor needs. Seven to half past eight usually works better across the Western and Central Suburbs. In South Mumbai, where the school run is shorter, half past five can work. In Navi Mumbai and Thane, where parents commute back across the creek or down Ghodbunder Road, half past seven is more realistic.

The second thing travel time decides is session length. A tutor travelling twenty minutes will happily do two sessions of seventy-five minutes a week. A tutor travelling fifty minutes will push for one longer visit, and for a coursework subject that is usually the right call anyway, because drafting needs a long run at the table rather than two interrupted ones. Let the geography choose the shape, and do not insist on a twice-weekly pattern that the road will not support in October.

Fees follow the same logic, which is why nobody can quote you a figure on a web page. What an IGCSE private tutor Mumbai parents hire actually costs depends on the board and level, how scarce specialists in this particular subject are on your corridor, the distance and the hour of the inbound run, the length of each session, and whether the tutor is also running coursework feedback between visits. IGCSE tuition fees in Mumbai for a scarce coursework subject in a far node behave differently from a common subject two buildings away. Ask for the rate, the travel assumption and the cancellation policy in one message before the first visit, and get the answer in writing.

  • Arrangements fail around week fourteen, and travel fatigue is usually why
  • Match within one corridor; cross-city matches rarely hold a full year
  • Slot shape: 7pm to 8.30pm suburbs, 5.30pm South Mumbai, 7.30pm Navi Mumbai and Thane
  • Longer single visits beat two short ones for a coursework-heavy subject
  • Fees track subject scarcity, inbound distance, hour and session length

What does progress look like after four weeks of home tuition in Mumbai?

At four weeks you should see process change, not grade change. The child should be able to state their research question in one sentence, should have a source list with at least one view they disagree with, and should have stopped writing the report in the order the paragraphs appear. If the only thing that has changed in four weeks is that homework is being handed in, that is worth something, but it is not yet subject progress and you should say so out loud at the door.

At one term the measurable thing is the draft. Put the September draft next to the December one. You are looking for a counter-argument that is engaged with rather than listed, a conclusion that commits to a position, and sources that are described by what is wrong with them as well as what they say. Teacher feedback should start repeating itself less. If the December draft is longer but structurally identical to the September one, the sessions are being spent on content and not on reasoning, and that is a conversation to have with the tutor directly.

At one exam cycle, honesty matters more than optimism. A child who was disorganised and is now organised, who submits on time and argues with a source, will usually do better than they would have. By how much, nobody can tell you. IB Gram does not guarantee grades, Cambridge marks the paper, and a moderator who has never met your family sees the coursework. Any tutor who puts a number on the outcome in September is guessing and should be treated accordingly.

The limits are worth naming too. Home tuition does not fix a child who does not want to take the subject, does not replace classroom teaching the child is skipping, and cannot compress two years of reading into a February. It also does not work at one session a week if nothing happens between sessions. The families who get the most from a weekly visit are the ones where the child does the forty minutes of reading the tutor set, and the honest version of that sentence is that the tutor cannot do that part for them.

  • Week four: a one-sentence research question and a source they disagree with
  • One term: compare September and December drafts for reasoning, not length
  • One exam cycle: better than they would have done, with no number attached
  • Grades are not guaranteed; Cambridge marks and an external moderator moderates
  • A weekly visit fails if nothing happens in the six days between visits

What to have ready before the first home tutoring session in Mumbai

Four things, and they take ten minutes to gather. The current Cambridge syllabus document your school is working from, your child's Global Perspectives folder including any written teacher feedback, the internal submission dates for the year, and a decision about where in the flat the session will happen. That last one is not a detail. Pick the spot before the tutor arrives rather than discovering at seven that the dining table has dinner on it.

Choose the table that already has a plug point, a hard chair and no television in the sight line. A bed is not a workspace and a sofa is worse. If the flat is small and the session has to share space with a younger sibling's homework, say that in the enquiry; it changes which tutor we send, because some are comfortable working through household noise and some are not. If your building has a clubhouse study room or a library room, mention it, though a standing booking there is usually more friction than it is worth.

On the gate: give security the tutor's full name and number the day before, and ask your society office whether a repeat visitor can be put on a standing weekly entry. Most Mumbai societies can do this and simply never get asked. It converts a five-minute argument at the gate every Tuesday into a wave-through, and it is the difference between a session starting at seven and starting at ten past.

Then plan the first twenty minutes and the last two. The first twenty are diagnostic: the tutor reads the folder, asks the child to explain their current argument, and finds the gap. The last two happen at the door, with you, in plain language: here is what I found, here is what I set, here is what I need from the school. Ask for that handover from the very first visit. Every tutor we send knows to expect it, and the ones who are good at it are the ones who stay the full year.

  • Have the syllabus document, the folder, the dates and a chosen table ready
  • Pick a hard chair, a plug point and no television in the sight line
  • Register the tutor at the gate the day before and ask for standing entry
  • First twenty minutes are diagnostic; the child explains their own argument
  • Ask for the two-minute door handover from the very first visit onward
FAQs

Mumbai tutoring — questions parents ask

Will a tutor actually travel to my building in Mumbai for a weekday evening slot?+

Yes, if your building sits on a corridor where we already have a specialist, which is the first thing we check. We match a Cambridge IGCSE Global Perspectives 0457 home tutor in Mumbai within one corridor of your address wherever possible, because a fifty-minute inbound run in June becomes a cancellation in October. If there is genuinely no subject specialist within range of your node, we will tell you that rather than send someone who will burn out, and we will offer a hybrid pattern instead: one in-person visit where it is viable, plus a shorter online slot midweek. You get the travel assumption in writing before the first visit.

How does the society gate and visitor registration work for a weekly home tutor?+

Give your society security the tutor's full legal name and mobile number the day before the first visit, and we provide the name exactly as it appears on their identity document so the register and the card match. Then ask your society office to add them as a standing weekly visitor. Most Mumbai societies allow this for recurring service visits and are simply never asked. It saves five minutes at the gate every week and removes the friction that makes tutors quietly shift their arrival later. If your building requires an app-based pass, send the tutor the link once rather than approving an entry request mid-session.

What if nobody is home during the evening the tutor visits?+

Tell us at the enquiry stage, because it changes who we match. Some tutors will only teach with an adult present in the flat, and that is a reasonable position for both sides. If both parents commute back from the Bandra Kurla Complex or across the creek and the realistic window is after eight, we look for tutors whose own corridor makes a later slot workable, or we shift the arrangement to a weekend morning visit. What we will not do is place a tutor into a situation nobody discussed. If an older sibling or grandparent is normally at home, say so; that usually resolves it.

Which part of the flat should the home classes actually happen in?+

The dining table, almost always. You want a hard chair, a plug point, a surface wide enough for a laptop and a printout side by side, and no television in the child's eyeline. Bedrooms invite the child onto the bed and the session loses twenty minutes of focus. If the flat is compact, tell us in the enquiry so we match a tutor who is comfortable working through household noise. Building clubhouse study rooms sound ideal but usually need a fresh booking every week, and that administration tends to collapse by the third month.

Can a tutor reach Kasarvadavali on Ghodbunder Road, or Kharghar, for a 7pm session?+

Yes, with a Thane-based or Navi Mumbai-based tutor rather than one travelling from the island city. Ghodbunder Road takes about twenty minutes from Thane station off-peak and close to an hour in the evening peak, so we match within Thane and accept occasional crossover from Mulund. Kharghar is matched node to node along Palm Beach Road and the Sion Panvel Highway with tutors living in Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar or Panvel. The Atal Setu has shortened the island run considerably, but a weekday-evening crossing of the creek still rarely survives a full academic year.

What does a Global Perspectives tutor do differently from an English or Humanities tutor?+

They teach argument and source handling rather than content and essay templates. A strong Global Perspectives (0457) tutor in Mumbai spends session time on where a claim came from, who funded it, what the counter-position is and whether your child has engaged with it or merely mentioned it. An English tutor will improve the sentences. That helps, but it does not fix a report whose research question is too broad to answer or whose sources all say the same thing. Ask any prospective tutor how they would narrow a research question in front of you. The answer separates specialists from generalists quickly.

When should we start, given my child is in Year 9?+

June or July of the year the subject starts, not December. The coursework strands in this subject are produced over months, so the decisions that set the ceiling on the final work happen early: the research question, the sources gathered, the structure of the first draft. A tutor arriving in December inherits all of those decisions. Starting with a Year 9 student also means the habits transfer to every other Cambridge IGCSE subject on the timetable. If you are already past October, start anyway, but expect the first month to be triage on existing drafts rather than new work.

What does IGCSE home tuition in Mumbai cost for this subject?+

It depends on five things and we will not publish a figure that misleads you. The board and level, how scarce specialists in Global Perspectives are on your particular corridor, the inbound travel distance and the hour of that travel, the length of each session, and whether the tutor also reviews drafts between visits. A coursework-heavy subject in a far node costs differently from a common subject two buildings away. Ask the tutor for the rate, the travel assumption and the cancellation policy in a single message before the first visit, and keep the written reply.

The tutor is not working out after a month. What happens?+

Tell us what specifically is not working and we arrange a replacement without you starting a new search. Useful detail: arrival drift, sessions that end with no clear account of what was covered, no engagement with the school's written feedback, or a child who has stopped talking during sessions. We keep your corridor, your slot and your file, so the next shortlist comes from the tutors we had already identified near you. Where a handover is useful, the outgoing tutor writes a short note on what was covered. You are never locked into a tutor who is not helping.

Do you work with my child's school, and can you promise a better grade?+

No to both, and the second one matters. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform and is not affiliated with Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Cathedral and John Connon School, Hiranandani Foundation School or any other school named on this page. We name them as calendar and geography context. We also do not guarantee grades: Cambridge marks the written examination and an external moderator sees the coursework, so no tutor has control of the outcome. Be wary of anyone offering a guaranteed grade. What a tutor can commit to is attendance, preparation and a clear weekly account.

A session gets missed because of monsoon or traffic. How is that handled?+

Agree the rule in week one rather than negotiating it in July. The two patterns that work are a same-evening switch to online when the tutor is stuck on the Central Line or the Eastern Express Highway, or a fixed weekend makeup slot held open through the monsoon months. Households that decide this in June lose almost nothing across the year. Households that improvise typically lose three or four sessions between June and September. Also agree how much notice counts as a cancellation on both sides, and whether a makeup is offered or the session is simply dropped.

Is a group or centre class in Mumbai better value than one-to-one home visits?+

For this subject, usually not. The individual report and the team project are produced by your child alone, on their own research question, which means a group class ends up teaching the structure rather than the work. A centre also moves the travel burden onto your child, which in Mumbai means an evening auto ride and a later dinner. Where a group works is examination practice on unseen sources, because arguing with other students sharpens that skill. Some families run one-to-one home sessions through the year and add a short group examination block in January.

Find your Mumbai tutor

Send us your society or building name with its nearest landmark, your child's year group, and the two evening windows that genuinely work. We check which specialists already teach on your corridor at that hour and come back with two or three names, each with their travel route, their stated arrival window and their Cambridge IGCSE background. You pick who visits first. The first visit is real teaching, and it ends with a two-minute handover at your door about what the tutor actually found.
