IB & IGCSE Home Tutors in Bandra West, Mumbai

An IB and IGCSE home tutor in Bandra West has to know three school calendars, not one: Dhirubhai Ambani International School in BKC, Jamnabai Narsee International School in Juhu and Ecole Mondiale World School a few streets further. IB Gram matches Bandra West families to subject specialists who travel to Hill Road, Bandstand, Pali Hill and Khar West.

How IB Gram shortlists an IB and IGCSE home tutor in Bandra West

A Bandra West enquiry almost always arrives with a school name attached, and that name shapes the shortlist more than the subject does. A parent on Hill Road whose daughter is in Diploma Programme (DP) Year 1 at Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) needs something different from the family two lanes away whose son is in Middle Years Programme (MYP) Year 4 at Ecole Mondiale World School in Juhu. So the intake asks for the school, the programme, the year group, the subjects, the two evening windows that genuinely work, and which pocket of Bandra West you actually live in.

The pocket matters because Bandra West is not one journey. A tutor stepping off the train at Bandra station can reach Pali Naka or the Linking Road side in under ten minutes on foot or by a short rickshaw, can be in Khar West almost as fast, and will still lose a quarter of an hour to the one-way loops that climb towards Pali Hill. The Bandstand end adds a parking problem on top of that. We put the route in the profile instead of letting the first session discover it, because a route that only works at four in the afternoon quietly collapses in week three.

The shortlist stays deliberately short. Two or three profiles, each one stating the syllabus version the tutor teaches, the schools whose internal deadlines they have already worked to, and the slot they can hold for a full term rather than a fortnight. Matching along the Western Line instead of across the city is the single habit that keeps a standing slot alive: Khar to Santacruz holds, Bandra to Andheri is quick off-peak and painful at 6pm, and a tutor commuting from Chembur to Bandra West will not survive one bad monsoon week.

Then the first session runs as a diagnostic rather than a lesson. The tutor reads marked work, a returned paper or a criterion-marked task before teaching anything. If the match is wrong, say so in that week; a replacement is a message, not a negotiation. IB and IGCSE home tuition in Bandra West runs on continuity, and the quickest way to waste a term is to tolerate a merely acceptable fit for two months out of politeness.

  • 1. Send the school, programme, year, subjects and two workable evening windows.
  • 2. We filter for tutors already teaching that school's syllabus version and timetable.
  • 3. Two or three profiles come back, each with travel route and holdable slot.
  • 4. First session is diagnostic: marked work and returned papers read first.
  • 5. Confirm the standing weekly slot, or ask for a fresh shortlist instead.

Which programme is your child actually on, and who sets its deadlines?

Three programme families turn up in Bandra West homes. The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) at Dhirubhai Ambani International School and at Jamnabai Narsee International School; the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and MYP at Ecole Mondiale World School; and Cambridge IGCSE, which runs at Billabong High International School and also as the pre-DP pathway inside Dhirubhai Ambani. One street can hold all three.

The pathways diverge at Year 9. A child who has been in PYP and MYP since kindergarten continues through MYP Year 5, often with eAssessment at the end of it, and then moves into DP Year 1. A child in a Cambridge stream spends Years 10 and 11 on a two-year IGCSE course aimed at the May and June series, then enters DP with a very different set of habits. Some Mumbai schools run Pearson Edexcel International GCSE alongside Cambridge International Education syllabuses, and the Edexcel January series shifts the whole mock calendar forward, which is worth saying out loud before you book a tutor for a winter crunch.

The distinction decides what a tutor should actually do in the room. MYP work is marked against criteria A to D with no percentage anywhere in sight. IGCSE work is marked against a published mark scheme and grade thresholds. DP sits on top of both, mixing external papers with Internal Assessment (IA) coursework. A tutor who treats an MYP Year 4 Sciences investigation like an IGCSE past paper will lift nothing at all, because the criterion rewards how data was processed and evaluated, not whether the final number was right.

Board switches are common here and they are where quiet damage happens. A student entering IGCSE Year 10 from MYP usually needs calculation fluency and timed writing under exam conditions, neither of which MYP asks for directly. A student entering DP Year 1 from IGCSE usually needs IA literacy, a working vocabulary for Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and the discipline of a research question that is narrow enough to answer. A good IB and IGCSE home tutor in Bandra West names the gap in the first fortnight.

  • PYP and MYP run on criteria A to D, never on percentages.
  • MYP Year 5 often ends in eAssessment, which needs its own preparation window.
  • IGCSE Years 10 and 11 build towards the May and June examination series.
  • Pearson Edexcel International GCSE adds a January series and an earlier mock calendar.
  • DP Years 1 and 2 combine external papers with Internal Assessment coursework.

Subject choice across both boards: HL, SL, Core and Extended

Subject choice is the decision parents in Bandra West most often get wrong, and it is made earlier than they expect. In DP a student takes six subjects across the six groups, three at Higher Level (HL) and three at Standard Level (SL), and the HL and SL split is usually locked in the spring before DP Year 1 starts. In IGCSE the equivalent fork is the tier: Core or Extended, generally confirmed after the Year 10 examinations. Both choices set the ceiling and the workload for two years, so they deserve a conversation rather than a form.

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (0580) shows how concrete the tier decision is. Extended candidates sit Paper 2 without a calculator and Paper 4 with one; Core candidates sit a different pair of papers and a syllabus that stops short of the harder algebra and trigonometry. Core caps the grade a student can be awarded, and that cap matters if the plan is a mathematics-heavy DP. A student who can do the work but panics in the non-calculator paper belongs in Extended with arithmetic drills, not in Core for comfort.

The DP equivalent is Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches against Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation, and then the HL or SL layer on top. The same applies to a language chosen as Language B rather than ab initio, where a wrong call costs two years of either boredom or drowning. Scarcity is real too: tutors for DP Economics HL, Business Management, Global Politics, French B and Hindi B are thinner on the ground across Mumbai than tutors for the sciences, so those requests need more notice.

Then there is the internal assessment each subject quietly carries. A DP science subject brings a scientific investigation marked on research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation. Mathematics brings an exploration. Languages bring oral components. Economics brings commentaries. The Extended Essay (EE) and TOK sit above all six. One point of contact for all IB and IGCSE subjects as a home tutor in Bandra West is sometimes the right answer for a younger child, but a DP Year 2 student usually needs a specialist per subject.

  • DP: six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level.
  • IGCSE: the Core or Extended tier decision sets the achievable grade ceiling.
  • 0580 Extended sits a non-calculator paper and a calculator paper, Core does not.
  • Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation changes two years of DP work.
  • Economics HL, Global Politics, French B and Hindi B tutors need longer notice.

Hill Road, Bandstand, Pali Hill and Khar West: where a Bandra West home tutor travels

Bandra West sits in the Western Suburbs of Mumbai, Maharashtra, on the Bandra West to Hill Road corridor, with Bandra station on the Western Line as its anchor and Khar Road station a stop north. A tutor working this area normally covers Hill Road, Linking Road, Turner Road, Pali Naka and Carter Road as one zone, with Bandstand and Pali Hill treated as separate pockets because the approach roads behave differently, and Khar West folded in as the natural northern extension.

Access is unusually good in three directions and awkward in one. The Bandra Reclamation ramp puts the Bandra–Worli Sea Link at the doorstep, which is why Worli is the one cross-bay match that actually holds for a weekday evening slot: a tutor living in Worli is roughly a quarter of an hour away outside peak flow. The Western Express Highway is reached through the Kalanagar junction, Metro Line 3 has given BKC a station of its own and runs south from there, and the Western Line connects straight up to Dahisar for tutors living further north.

The awkward direction is inside the neighbourhood itself. The lanes climbing towards Pali Hill are narrow and largely one-way, so a tutor who is five hundred metres away on a map can be twelve minutes away in practice. School pickup congestion on Ambedkar Road clogs the late afternoon. Parking at the Bandstand end is tight enough that many tutors simply do not drive here, preferring Bandra station and a short rickshaw ride. The practical result is that 5pm and 8pm slots in Bandra West fill before 6pm slots do, which is the opposite of most Mumbai neighbourhoods.

Parents type this request several ways: "IB and IGCSE home tuition in Bandra West", "all IB and IGCSE subjects home classes in Bandra West", and "IB and IGCSE tutors near me Bandra West". All of them land in the same place. What changes the answer is your pocket and your window, so say Pali Hill or Bandstand or Khar West in the first message rather than after the first cancelled session.

  • Bandra station on the Western Line is the arrival point for most tutors.
  • The Bandra–Worli Sea Link makes Worli a genuinely workable cross-bay match.
  • Pali Hill's narrow one-way lanes add minutes no map shows.
  • Ambedkar Road school pickup congestion rules out most late-afternoon arrivals.
  • Bandstand parking is tight, so tutors arrive by train plus rickshaw.
  • Khar West and Santacruz West are the easy northern extensions of the same slot.

Why one Bandra West family compares three Mumbai school calendars

This is the thing that is true in Bandra West and almost nowhere else in Mumbai. The neighbourhood sits minutes from BKC in one direction and Juhu in the other, so a family here genuinely chooses between Dhirubhai Ambani International School in BKC, Jamnabai Narsee International School in Juhu and Ecole Mondiale World School also in Juhu, with Billabong High International School a further option that families here use. The choice is a real one, made on fit rather than on distance, and it means a tutor working these lanes is asked about all three calendars in the same week.

Different schools pace the same programme differently. One school may want the DP Year 2 scientific investigation uploaded before the Diwali break; another may push it to January and run mock examinations in December instead. An IGCSE stream may close coursework in November while the DP stream next door is still on first drafts. A tutor who only knows one school's rhythm will plan the wrong fortnight, and a tutor who has worked across BKC and Juhu schools will ask which week your school marks internally before promising anything.

Here is the pressure point as a Bandra West DP Year 2 student lives it. She sits the May examination session. Her Physics investigation is marked on four criteria, and research design is where most of the marks leak, because the method was decided in a rush and the controlled variables were never justified. That draft is due in the same fortnight as her 1,600-word TOK essay upload and a Mathematics exploration check-in, and her mock examinations begin ten days later. The useful intervention is not more content teaching. It is three sessions spent fixing the research design section and the evaluation against the published criteria, which is work a tutor can do in the home and cannot do in a crowded batch.

Naming these schools is local context and nothing more. IB Gram is an independent platform and is not affiliated with Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Jamnabai Narsee International School, Ecole Mondiale World School, Billabong High International School or any other school mentioned on this page. We use their calendars to plan sessions, which is useful to parents, and we make no claim of any relationship with them.

  • Families here weigh Dhirubhai Ambani in BKC against Jamnabai Narsee in Juhu.
  • Ecole Mondiale World School adds a PYP and MYP continuum to the same choice.
  • Billabong High International School is the Cambridge IGCSE option families here use.
  • The same DP cohort can face internal deadlines weeks apart by school.
  • Ask which week your school marks internally before fixing a tuition plan.

Home tuition, online or hybrid for a Bandra West household?

Home tuition is the default here and it is the right default. A tutor sitting at your dining table in Bandra West sees the returned paper, the annotated IA draft and the half-finished problem set, marks in the margin, and keeps a teenager off a second screen for ninety minutes. For PYP and MYP children it is the only mode that reliably works, because attention at that age does not survive a video call. For DP Year 2 it is what makes criterion-level feedback possible. The cost of home classes is travel, and travel is what sets your slot rather than your preference.

Online is not a lesser option; it is a different trade. An IB and IGCSE online tutor in Bandra West can be the Economics HL or Further Mathematics specialist who lives in Powai or Worli and would never hold a weekday Pali Hill slot in person. Screen-shared past papers work well, recordings help revision, and a cancelled session can be replaced the next evening without anyone crossing the Western Express Highway. Online is weakest for a student who needs their handwriting watched, their working corrected mid-line, or simply an adult in the room.

Hybrid is what most DP families in Bandra West end up on by the second term, usually without planning it. One home session a week for the teaching, plus a short online check in the two days before a submission deadline. A thirty-minute call on a Sunday night to look at a conclusion paragraph is worth more than another full lesson, and it costs nobody a trip through Ambedkar Road traffic.

One honest warning about scheduling. Because the Bandstand and Pali Hill approaches are slow in the evening peak, a Bandra West 6pm home slot is the hardest one to fill and the first one to break. If your child can work at 5pm straight after school or at 8pm after dinner, you will get a materially better IB and IGCSE private tutor in Bandra West than if you insist on the middle of the peak.

  • Home tuition suits PYP, MYP and any student who needs supervision.
  • Online opens up scarce subject specialists living in Powai, Worli or Thane.
  • Hybrid: one weekly home session plus a short pre-deadline call online.
  • 5pm and 8pm home slots in Bandra West are easier to hold than 6pm.
  • Online sessions are rescheduled far more easily than a cancelled home visit.

How is a tutor checked before they ring your Bandra West doorbell?

Every tutor on the platform is identity-verified, has their qualification documents checked, and is interviewed on the specific subject and level they want to teach rather than on teaching in general. A candidate for DP Chemistry HL is asked how they would mark a scientific investigation against the published criteria. A candidate for IGCSE English is asked how they would plan a directed writing response. Teaching history is confirmed with references, and the schools or boards they have actually worked to are recorded on the profile so a Bandra West parent can see whether a tutor has met their school's internal rhythm before.

The checks we run are necessary and not sufficient, and any platform that tells you otherwise is overselling. There are things only you can assess, in your own home, in the first two sessions. Ask the tutor which syllabus version they are teaching from, because subject guides change and a tutor working from an older guide will prepare the wrong components. Ask to see how they would mark one page of your child's work. Ask what they will do in the first three sessions, and listen for whether the answer is specific.

Then watch the session itself. A tutor who talks for ninety minutes is not teaching, whatever their degree says. A tutor who sets your child working, watches where the pen stops, and intervenes there is doing the job. Listen for the language of the right board: criteria and command terms for MYP, mark schemes and command words for IGCSE, assessment objectives and criteria for DP. A tutor who cannot name how your child's next piece of work will be marked is the wrong tutor, however strong the subject knowledge.

Practical household checks matter too. Confirm the tutor's arrival route and expected travel time, agree a cancellation notice period in both directions, and settle where the session happens before the first visit so that nobody is negotiating a study space at 5pm. If your building keeps a visitor register, register the tutor once for a standing weekly slot rather than leaving it to the gate each week.

  • Identity, qualification documents and subject-level interview before any profile goes live.
  • References confirm teaching history and the boards the tutor has actually taught.
  • You should ask which syllabus version and see one page marked.
  • A tutor who talks for the whole session is not teaching your child.
  • Register a standing weekly slot with your building once, not every week.

What do IB and IGCSE tuition fees in Bandra West depend on?

Fees for an IB and IGCSE home tutor in Bandra West depend on five things, and no honest page can quote you a single rate. They are the board and level, the scarcity of the subject, the travel the slot demands, the length and frequency of sessions, and how close the examination session is. A DP Year 2 Higher Level subject costs more per hour than a Year 6 MYP support slot, everywhere in Mumbai, because the pool of people who can teach it well is smaller.

Scarcity is the factor parents underestimate. Plenty of tutors across the Western Suburbs can teach IGCSE Mathematics and the DP sciences. Far fewer can teach DP Economics HL properly, supervise an Extended Essay in a humanities subject, mark a Business Management IA, or handle French B or Hindi B at Higher Level. When a subject is thin, the rate reflects the queue and the notice period lengthens. Asking in February for a scarce DP subject is a different conversation from asking in July.

Travel is the specifically local factor. A tutor living in Khar West or Santacruz West who reaches your Hill Road flat in fifteen minutes can run four sessions in an evening across the area. A tutor coming up from Worli over the Sea Link, or down from Andheri at 6pm, is spending an hour of unpaid time on your slot, and that shows up in the rate or in the tutor eventually asking to change the day. This is why matching along the Western Line keeps costs sane, and why a 5pm or 8pm Bandra West slot is often quoted better than one at 6pm.

Two smaller levers are worth knowing. Session length and frequency are not interchangeable: two ninety-minute sessions a week before mock examinations do more than one three-hour marathon, and the marathon is harder to staff. And proximity to the examination session moves everything, because a February request for an April crash plan competes with every other DP Year 2 family in Mumbai. Book the term, not the panic.

  • Board and level: DP Higher Level costs more per hour than MYP support.
  • Subject scarcity: Economics HL, Business Management and second languages carry a queue.
  • Travel distance and slot time, which is why along-the-line matching is cheaper.
  • Session length and weekly frequency, agreed per term rather than per week.
  • How close the examination session is when you book the tutor.

What progress looks like at four weeks, one term and one Mumbai exam cycle

At four weeks you should not expect a grade to move, and anyone promising otherwise is selling. What you should see is diagnosis turning into routine: the tutor can name the two or three specific weaknesses, homework is being set and actually marked, and your child can explain what the next piece of work is marked on. If after a month nobody can tell you what the problem is in concrete terms, that is the signal to change tutor, not to wait another month and hope.

At one term the evidence should be visible in marked work rather than in reported feelings. A DP student's IA draft should come back with fewer comments on the same criterion twice. An IGCSE student should be finishing the Extended paper inside the time limit instead of leaving the last questions blank. An MYP student should be writing a method that justifies its controlled variables without being asked. These are checkable things, and they are what a good home tutor in Bandra West should be pointing you at when you ask how it is going.

At one examination cycle you are looking at mock performance against final performance, and at whether the work habits survived the pressure of a May session. A student who has gone from blank final pages to a complete paper has made real progress even if the grade moves less than you hoped. A student whose mock improved but whose IA was still rushed has a planning problem that another tutor will not solve.

The honest limits need stating plainly. IB Gram does not guarantee grades, and no tutor, however experienced with the syllabus, can guarantee a result that depends on a student's own work in an examination hall. What a tutor can do is remove confusion, fix method, hold a student to a deadline, and make the marking criteria visible. What they cannot do is substitute for a term of attendance or rescue six subjects in three weeks. We would rather say that before you book than after.

  • Four weeks: a named diagnosis, a routine, and homework that is actually marked.
  • One term: fewer repeat comments on the same criterion in marked work.
  • One exam cycle: complete papers under time, and IA drafts submitted early.
  • Tell us in week two if the fit is wrong, not in month three.
  • No tutor can guarantee a grade, and we do not pretend otherwise.

Starting IB and IGCSE home classes in Bandra West this week

Getting started takes one message with five facts in it: the school, the programme and year, the subjects, two evening windows that genuinely work, and which pocket of Bandra West you are in. Say Pali Hill, Bandstand, Hill Road or Khar West by name, because the route decides the slot. If a deadline is already on the calendar, a mock examination, an IA upload, a TOK draft, put the date in the message so the shortlist is built around it.

Have three things ready for the first session. The most recent marked work, however bad it is, because that is where a tutor reads the real problem. The school's assessment calendar for the term, so the plan runs to real dates instead of guesses. And a decided place to sit, with a table, a plug point and a door, which matters more than parents expect once a tutor is coming weekly.

The first session is a diagnostic. The tutor reads the marked work, asks your child to attempt something unaided, watches where the pen stops, and finishes by telling you the two things that will be worked on and how they will be measured. You should get a plain answer about what the next three sessions cover. If you do not, ask for it, and if it still does not come, ask for a different tutor.

After that it is a standing weekly slot, registered once with your building, held through the term. An IB and IGCSE tutor in Mumbai is only useful if the same person shows up on the same evening for months, which is why we match a home tutor for all IB and IGCSE subjects in Mumbai on travel reality rather than on a promise. Bandra West families get the Western Line pool, the Khar West and Santacruz West pool, and the Worli pool over the Sea Link.

  • Message us the school, programme, year, subjects, two windows and your pocket.
  • Have recent marked work and the school's term assessment calendar ready.
  • Decide the study space before the first visit: table, plug point, door.
  • The diagnostic session ends with two named priorities and how they are measured.
  • Register the tutor once for a standing weekly slot with your building.
FAQs

Bandra West tutoring — questions parents ask

What does an IB and IGCSE home tutor in Bandra West cost?+

There is no single rate, and any page quoting one is guessing. The fee depends on the board and level, how scarce the subject is, how far the tutor travels for your slot, how long and how often sessions run, and how close the examination session is. A DP Year 2 Higher Level subject sits at the top of that range and an MYP support slot at the bottom. Travel is the local variable: a tutor from Khar West reaching Hill Road in fifteen minutes prices differently from one crossing the Sea Link from Worli at 6pm. Tell us the subject, level and window and you will get a straight number before anyone visits.

Can a tutor actually reach Pali Hill in the evening when the lanes are one-way?+

Yes, but the arrival time has to be planned rather than assumed. The lanes climbing towards Pali Hill are narrow and mostly one-way, so a tutor who looks five hundred metres away on a map can need twelve minutes to get to your gate, and school pickup congestion on Ambedkar Road makes the late afternoon worse. Most tutors working this pocket arrive at Bandra station and take a short rickshaw rather than driving. In practice that means a 5pm or an 8pm slot holds reliably and a 6pm one does not. If 6pm is the only possible time, we look for a tutor who already lives inside Bandra West or in Khar West.

My son is at Dhirubhai Ambani and my daughter at Jamnabai Narsee. Can one tutor handle both?+

For the same subject at similar levels, often yes, and it is one of the more common Bandra West requests. The catch is not the syllabus, it is the calendar: the two schools pace internal deadlines differently, so one child's investigation may be due before the Diwali break while the other's sits in January. A tutor taking both needs to hold two timetables, and you should ask directly whether they have worked to both schools' internal rhythms. Where the subjects or levels differ much, two specialists in back-to-back slots usually works better than one generalist stretched across both.

Do your tutors live in Bandra West, or do they travel in from Andheri?+

Both, and we tell you which before you commit. The strongest matches live inside Bandra West, Khar West or Santacruz West, because a fifteen-minute approach is what keeps a weekly slot alive for a whole term. Worli works too, since the Bandra–Worli Sea Link makes it roughly a quarter of an hour off-peak, and it is the one cross-bay match that reliably holds in Mumbai. Andheri is possible off-peak and genuinely painful at 6pm on the Western Express Highway, so we only propose it for a scarce subject or an 8pm slot. Every profile states the tutor's base and route.

Is there parking for a tutor at the Bandstand end?+

Usually not enough, which is why most tutors do not drive to Bandstand at all. Parking near the promenade and along the Bandstand approach roads is tight in the evening, and a tutor circling for ten minutes is a tutor who will start asking to change the day. The practical arrangement is Bandra station plus a short rickshaw ride, which is faster and more predictable. If your building can offer a visitor slot for a standing weekly session, say so when you enquire, because it genuinely widens the pool of tutors willing to hold a Bandstand slot through the monsoon.

What happens if the tutor is not working out after three sessions?+

You tell us that week and we replace them, without a negotiation. Three sessions is enough to know whether a tutor can explain the marking criteria, whether your child is working during the session rather than listening, and whether homework is being set and marked. Those are the three things to judge on. We ask for a sentence on what did not work, because it sharpens the next shortlist, and we carry the diagnosis across so the replacement does not start from zero. The mistake parents make is waiting two months out of politeness, which costs a term that a DP Year 2 student does not have spare.

Does online tuition really work for IGCSE Mathematics?+

It works well for some students and poorly for others, and the deciding factor is whether the student needs their working watched. Online is strong for past-paper practice with a shared screen, for pre-deadline check-ins, and for reaching a specialist who would never hold a weekday Bandra West slot in person. It is weak when a student's errors are in setting out, arithmetic slips or exam technique that an adult needs to catch mid-line. For a 0580 Extended candidate who leaves the last questions blank, a home tutor in the room usually fixes that faster. Many Bandra West families end up hybrid: weekly at home, with a short online session before a deadline.

Who is the best IB and IGCSE tutor in Bandra West?+

There is no single best tutor, and treating the question that way is how families end up with an impressive CV and no progress. The right tutor is specific to your child's board, level, school calendar and the particular thing going wrong. A brilliant DP Physics specialist is the wrong choice for an MYP Year 4 student who cannot justify a controlled variable, and a patient MYP tutor will not fix a Higher Level paper three problem. Ask instead who has taught your subject at your level, to your school's deadlines, and can hold your slot for a term. That question has a real answer.

We live in Khar West rather than Bandra West. Do you still cover us?+

Yes. Khar West is the natural northern extension of the same tutor pool, one station up the Western Line from Bandra, and tutors working Hill Road and Pali Naka routinely take a second slot in Khar West the same evening. The same is true of Santacruz West. Matching along the line rather than across the city is what makes those back-to-back slots possible, and it keeps rates and reliability sensible. Bandstand and Pali Hill are the two pockets we treat separately, because their approach roads add time that a map does not show. Tell us your exact pocket and we plan around it.

Should a parent be at home during the session?+

For PYP and younger MYP children, yes, at least in the building; for DP students, usually better not in the room. Young children work differently when a parent is within earshot, and a tutor needs a few minutes with the child alone to find out what they actually do not understand. For teenagers, a parent sitting in tends to turn the session into a performance. What does help is a two-minute conversation at the end of the session and a glance at the marked homework. If nobody will be home, agree that in advance with the tutor rather than on the day.

How late can an evening slot run on a school night?+

An 8pm start works well in Bandra West and is often easier to staff than 6pm, which is the local quirk here. Because the Pali Hill lanes and the Ambedkar Road pickup crush make the evening peak unpredictable, tutors would rather arrive before it or after it. A ninety-minute session starting at 8pm finishes at a reasonable hour for a DP student and lets the tutor travel home against the flow. For younger MYP and PYP children, a 5pm start straight after school is better than anything late, because attention is gone by eight.

Can a tutor travel from Worli over the Sea Link for a weekday session?+

Yes, and Worli is the one cross-bay match in Mumbai that genuinely holds. The Bandra Reclamation ramp onto the Bandra–Worli Sea Link puts a Worli tutor around a quarter of an hour from Bandra West outside peak flow, which is faster than many along-the-line journeys from the north. We use it mainly for scarce subjects where the right specialist happens to live in Worli or Prabhadevi. The honest caveat is monsoon evenings and the Kalanagar junction, so we would set such a slot at 8pm rather than 6pm, and agree a clear notice rule for the rare evening the ramp backs up.
