IB and IGCSE Tutors and Private Home Tuition in Motipur

If your child in Motipur is heading for an IB or Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE course, the missing piece is usually a teacher who has actually taught it. IB Gram provides one over live video, privately, in your own home. Tutors do not travel to Motipur; house visits run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, so the whole service here is online.

  • Teachers picked for the exact IB or IGCSE paper, rather than for the subject label alone
  • Everything is online: no tutor comes to Motipur, because visits exist only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • A complimentary trial class before rates are even raised
  • No affiliation with the IB, Cambridge, Pearson or any school named below

IB & IGCSE in Motipur

Who looks for IB and IGCSE tuition in Motipur, and why

Motipur sits on National Highway 28, about 30 km north of Muzaffarpur and roughly 102 km from Patna, with Mehsi a short way to the north. It became a Nagar Parishad, a municipal council, in 2021, has its own railway station, and counted close to 28,600 people in the 2011 census, up from about 21,900 in 2001. The 2001 literacy rate was only 43 per cent, which tells you how much schooling here is still being built; families who invest in a child's English and international qualifications are making a considered, ambitious choice.

Almost no one in Motipur is looking for a class next door, because the IB and IGCSE are not taught in town. They are comparing options: a boarding school in Kolkata, Dehradun or the Delhi region, an online international programme, or a relative's offer abroad. Whichever it is, their child will need to answer in the style those courses demand, and to do so in English.

We have not been able to confirm any school in Motipur or Muzaffarpur teaching the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE, and we do not name one. IB Gram supplies a different thing: private online home tuition, one specialist with one student over live video. House visits are not available in Motipur; they exist only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

The service is independent of the IB, Cambridge, Pearson and all schools. Tutors teach and mark. They never write an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay or coursework for a student.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Motipur school years

Since an IB or IGCSE classroom will usually be far from Motipur, families should understand each stage in advance. Below are the programmes, with the gaps a student from a Bihar Board or CBSE primary tends to show.

PYPNursery-Class 5, ages 3-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Teaching is built around themed inquiries that run for weeks, and a child ends the programme by researching and presenting an Exhibition. Support from a tutor is soft: reading together, mental sums and coaxing out a reason.

A child hearing Bhojpuri, Bajjika or Hindi at home grows into English fastest through daily, low-pressure talk.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Four criteria mark each subject, learning is tied to global contexts, and a Personal Project completes the programme. The student must show how a conclusion was reached.

Students from Bihar Board middle schools commonly remember content but are not used to arguing a case in writing.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, with Theory of Knowledge, an Extended Essay and CAS. The final grade blends May or November papers with coursework produced across two years.

Diploma requests from north Bihar mostly mention Maths, Physics, Chemistry and English A, from students who moved to a boarding or city school at Class 11.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

A narrower pathway in which two Diploma subjects sit alongside a career-oriented course and a reflective project; it is uncommon in India.

Requests for CP from this part of Bihar are rare; if one comes, support goes to the Diploma subjects inside the combination.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

A Bihar Board paper rewards completeness, and IB and IGCSE papers reward doing what the command word says. A tutor for a Motipur student first listens for which command words go wrong, then shapes each subject around them.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Calculus, functions, vectors and proof. North Bihar students are often rapid with mechanics and need to learn how to lay out the reasoning an examiner wants to see.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Statistics, modelling and technology, a fit for commerce, economics and design pathways.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Mechanics, waves, electricity and fields. A data booklet to master and units to get right.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Early topics feel familiar; equilibrium, energy changes and organic mechanisms demand reasoned explanation.

IB Biology

HL / SL

Cells, genetics, ecology and physiology; a district famous for litchi orchards offers vivid plant-science examples.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Diagrams tied to live news; litchi export, flood losses and migration from north Bihar are rich commentary topics.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Case-study papers and a research project; a fruit trader, a grain shop or a transport firm gives a real organisation.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Textual analysis, essays and an oral; students who think in Hindi or Bhojpuri gain from English paragraph training.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Algorithms, programming and a documented internal solution.

IB Environmental Systems & Societies

SL / HL

River flooding, groundwater and agricultural land use in the Burhi Gandak plain make concrete investigation topics.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Hazards, rivers and population, with a fieldwork-based internal assessment.

IB History

HL / SL

Source analysis and long essays; Tirhut's role in the freedom movement provides regional case studies.

IB Hindi A and Hindi B

HL / SL

Language courses that suit a Hindi-speaking home; text types and oral fluency decide marks.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

Conversation-led coaching on knowledge claims and the exhibition, with all writing left to the student.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

The two IGCSE boards in India keep different calendars. Cambridge examines in February-March, May-June and October-November; Pearson Edexcel in January, May-June and November. A private candidate from Motipur needs a recognised centre, which may be in Patna or Kolkata, so ask well ahead.

IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core / Extended

Extended reaches the top grades; most lost marks are unwritten working.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Grade 10

Calculus and identities early, easing the step to IB Maths AA.

Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics A 4MA1

Foundation / Higher

Pearson phrases and orders questions differently, so its papers are used.

IGCSE Physics 0625

Core / Extended

Rearranging formulae, reading graphs and the paper that replaces the practical.

IGCSE Chemistry 0620

Core / Extended

Mole calculations, reaction rates, organic basics and ion tests.

IGCSE Biology 0610

Core / Extended

Heredity, transport in organisms and human systems, with ordered long answers.

IGCSE Economics 0455

Grade 9-10

Markets and policy, tested through data and short articles.

IGCSE Computer Science 0478

Grade 9-10

Pseudocode, logic and Python.

IGCSE Business Studies 0450

Grade 9-10

Applying ideas to a named firm, with short finance sums.

IGCSE English as a Second Language 0510

Grade 9-10

Reading, writing, listening and speaking for students with Hindi or Bhojpuri at home.

IGCSE Hindi as a Second Language 0549

Grade 9-10

A compact paper where technique pays quickly.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Motipur school timetables

A Motipur lesson has one shape: a live video call between a student and a tutor who lives elsewhere. No tutor makes the trip. What families choose is the rhythm.

A weekly slot at home

One evening each week with the same teacher and exercises to finish before the next call. This suits a child already on an international syllabus who wants a subject strengthened.

  • A single tutor all term
  • Course and level fixed first
  • Past papers marked each week
  • Scheduled around power and homework time

A preparatory block before a move

A burst of lessons before a student leaves the Bihar Board or CBSE for an IB or IGCSE classroom, spent on formal English, command words and the weakest subject.

  • Academic English
  • Command-word practice
  • Repair in the shakiest subject
  • A closing summary for parents

An exam-season sprint

Extra lessons as mocks and the May or November papers approach, spent on timed work and the published marking guidance.

  • Two to four calls a week
  • Marked to official criteria
  • Specific feedback notes
  • Booked before Chhath

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Motipur

01

A town building its schools, and the international gap

  • No confirmed IB or IGCSE school in Motipur or Muzaffarpur
  • Boarding elsewhere or online enrolment are the usual routes
  • Families: first-generation English-medium households, fruit and grain traders, railway and school staff
  • Support is private tuition by video

Motipur's story is of fast growth from a small base. Between the 2001 and 2011 censuses the population climbed from under 22,000 to nearly 28,600, the Nagar Parishad status of 2021 brought a municipal administration, and literacy, which stood at 43 per cent in 2001, has been rising with new private and government schools. The local curriculum is the Bihar School Examination Board, with CBSE-affiliated English-medium schools appearing alongside.

What the town does not yet have, so far as we can verify, is a school teaching the IB or an IGCSE, and the same holds for Muzaffarpur. A family that wants an international curriculum therefore looks outward: to boarding in Kolkata or the Delhi region, or to an online international school with the child studying at home.

The parents who ask are an interesting group. Some are first-generation English-medium families who see the IB as a way to leave a limited job market. Some run fruit, grain or transport businesses and expect a child to study abroad. Some are railway staff, teachers and officials. They share one worry: that the child will fall behind in a style of study no local classroom teaches.

Our answer is private tuition by video, matched to the course. The lesson takes place at home in Motipur; the teacher is somewhere else in India.

02

How do IB and IGCSE differ from the Bihar Board and CBSE?

Start with what a mark is for. A Bihar Board or CBSE examiner is looking for the textbook answer, set out in the textbook's order. An IB or IGCSE examiner wants to see the student use knowledge: read a source critically, set two positions against each other, plan a fair test, defend a result.

The calendar of effort differs as well. Internal assessments, coursework and practical papers run through international courses, so there is work due all along rather than a mountain in February and March.

Then comes language. At home a Motipur child may use Bhojpuri or Hindi, with English reserved for school, and long written English is the habit least exercised. Tutors therefore show how an extended answer is constructed in each subject.

None of this proves the international route is tougher. Many students say criteria that are published in advance give them a clearer target than Board expectations that are never written down.

03

What goes into the price of IB or IGCSE lessons in Motipur?

  • Level: Primary Years reading help sits at one end, HL Diploma sciences at the other
  • Subject: some courses have few specialists and book up early
  • Tutor background: years of Diploma teaching or examining cost more than a new graduate
  • Frequency: one call a week or three in the exam run-up
  • Season: May and November diaries fill first

No brochure rate exists, and that is deliberate. A weekly Class 8 English class and an HL Physics revision programme are not the same product, so the figure is built case by case and sent to you in writing after the free class.

Five things shape it, listed below. Together they explain why two Motipur families can receive different quotations for what looks like the same subject.

A quiet advantage of learning online from Motipur is what does not appear on the bill: fuel for the NH 28 run to Muzaffarpur, a bus fare, a tutor's travel time. The money goes into teaching hours.

When you compare any provider, put three questions next to the price: can the tutor be replaced, will you receive notes after each class, and what happens if a lesson is missed because of a flood or a power cut?

04

Online home tuition, Muzaffarpur coaching, neighbourhood tutors or self-study?

Motipur parents are no strangers to tuition. Muzaffarpur has coaching centres in every lane, tuned to Board marks, JEE and NEET. Close to home there are teachers who know a child's strengths but have never taught an international paper. And some students can drive themselves through a stack of past papers. What none of those gives is a person who knows the IB mark scheme and sits with the child alone.

The honest weakness of an online lesson is the line itself. Broadband in town is generally workable, outlying villages less so, and the monsoon can interrupt power. A hotspot and a charged laptop are the cheap insurance; a tutor can finish a class by voice with a shared document if the picture fails.

The other missing ingredient is peers. A Kolkata or Delhi classroom surrounds a student with classmates on the same syllabus. At home, that has to be rebuilt through a small online group or a study partner, which we suggest after the first month.

The table lines the four routes up against each other.

Chhath, litchi season, floods and exams: the Motipur year

Muzaffarpur district is known across India for its litchi, and from mid-May into June the villages around Motipur are busy with picking and packing. Fruit-trading parents have no spare hours and children may be pressed into helping, so lessons slide to late evening and written notes stand in for phone calls.

The rivers set the monsoon mood. The Budhi Gandak and its neighbours rise between July and September, closing low roads and sometimes cutting power. A video class copes far better than a commute, but we plan lighter weeks and ask each family for a backup connection.

Chhath Puja, in October or November, is the great family occasion, with days of preparation, fasting and trips to the water. Lessons pause on the main days and no mock is set that week. Durga Puja, Diwali and Holi claim evenings too, while winter fog from December slows roads far more than screens.

Exam windows run through all this: both qualifications sit around May and November, and November lands straight after Chhath and Diwali. Heavy revision belongs in September, finishing by the first week of October.

After school: where IB or IGCSE can take a Motipur student

For degrees inside India, the Association of Indian Universities rates a completed IB Diploma as equal to Class 12, and CUET-UG is the common doorway into central universities. An IGCSE stops at Grade 10, so those students go on to AS and A Level or to the Diploma before they apply.

Closer to home, candidates look at BRA Bihar University and the medical college at Muzaffarpur, then Patna University, IIT Patna, NIT Patna, AIIMS Patna and Chanakya National Law University. Each has its own view of foreign boards, so read the latest admission notice before deciding which subjects to take at Higher Level.

Future engineers and doctors should read the JEE Main and NEET clauses for IB and IGCSE candidates early; Class 10 is a sensible moment, because they can affect subject choices.

Overseas, admissions offices in Canada, the UK, Australia and America deal with IB and IGCSE transcripts every year. Tutors lift subject results; the applications and personal statements remain the family's own work.

07

Project ideas for IB Maths and science students in Motipur

A Motipur student choosing IB Maths faces two courses. Analysis and Approaches is for someone who enjoys algebra, calculus and proof and may study engineering or physics. Applications and Interpretation is for someone more drawn to data, models and technology, perhaps heading to economics or design. One trial lesson is often enough to tell them apart.

Every IB Maths student writes an exploration worth a fifth of the grade. Locally grounded topics work well: litchi prices through a harvest season, river-gauge readings on the Budhi Gandak, or the arrival times of trains at Motipur station. Starting in the first term leaves time to refine it.

In the sciences, Bihar Board students rarely lack facts. What costs marks is the shape of the reply. The IB prefers three beats: the principle, its use on the data supplied, a conclusion. Tutors rehearse that pattern until it is automatic.

Biology and Environmental Systems projects on floods, soil or orchard pests suit this district. The whole investigation, from the question to the write-up, has to be the student's. A tutor can raise questions and compare a draft against the criteria, nothing more.

08

IGCSE for Motipur students: tiers, boards and subject sets

  • Pick Extended if IB HL or A Level sciences might follow
  • Find out the school's board first
  • Additional Mathematics gives solid groundwork for IB Maths AA
  • Private candidates should book a centre early

Most IGCSE candidates sit between five and eight subjects across Grades 9 and 10, built around English, Maths and a science.

A Core entry cannot reach the highest grades, so a student who might want IB Higher Level or A Level sciences later does better in Extended.

The two boards set their papers and calendars independently. Revision follows whichever board the student is actually entered with.

A private candidate must book a seat at a recognised exam centre far ahead of time; the nearest could be in Patna or Kolkata.

Where we tutor

Motipur and the towns around it

Since lessons run through a screen, these places describe daily life rather than teaching: where a family does its errands, which road a boarding student takes and how the rivers change the week.

Motipur town

A Nagar Parishad of roughly 28,000 people on National Highway 28, with its own railway station.

Motipur railway station area

The rail link for trips to Muzaffarpur and onward; the usual route for children going away to school.

National Highway 28 corridor

The main road through town, carrying buses to Muzaffarpur, with heavy truck traffic.

Mehsi

About 14 km to the north, a neighbouring town on the Budhi Gandak, often paired with Motipur in addresses.

Budhi Gandak bank

The river that runs by this stretch of Tirhut; monsoon levels affect roads and power.

Muzaffarpur city

About 30 km south, the commercial hub for colleges, hospitals, exam centres and coaching.

Litchi orchard villages

The farmland around the town; the May-June fruit season fills family calendars.

Sitamarhi side

North-east of Motipur, another route families use for travel and relatives.

Patna route

About 102 km south, where the airport, the state's largest schools and most exam centres are found.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Motipur

Motipur itself

Few options: the town's schools follow the Bihar Board or CBSE, and none is confirmed to offer IB or IGCSE.

    Nearby: Muzaffarpur and Patna

The two cities families in this belt rely on most. We could not confirm an IB or IGCSE school in either, so none is named.

      Nearby: Kolkata

A familiar boarding destination for Bihar families, reached by overnight train.

      • Calcutta International School, Kolkata

      Nearby: Delhi NCR

Where IB schools are most numerous; some Bihar families board a child here.

      • The British School, New Delhi
      • Pathways World School, Gurugram

We could not verify any IB or IGCSE programme at a school in Motipur or Muzaffarpur, so none is presented as local. The Kolkata and Delhi NCR names below appear because Bihar families sometimes explore boarding; each detail is for the school to confirm. IB Gram has no arrangement with them, nor with the IB, Cambridge or Pearson.

      Why families choose us

What Motipur parents tell us matters most

The right paper, not just the right subject

A teacher for IB Chemistry SL is chosen for exactly that.

      Honest about the distance

All lessons are online, and the nearest IB campuses we know of lie hundreds of kilometres from Motipur.

      Aware of north Bihar's year

Chhath, litchi weeks and the high-river months are on the calendar before the slots are.

      Coaching that stays coaching

A tutor never drafts an IA, Extended Essay or any other piece of submitted work.

      Reports that parents can follow

Short, jargon-free summaries after each class.

      Easy to change tutor

If the chemistry between tutor and child is missing, ask and we find someone else.

      Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Motipur: your questions answered

We live in Motipur. Is a real IB teacher within reach?+

Yes, through a screen. Your child joins a live video class with a teacher who has handled that exact course, and nobody has to leave home. Personal visits exist only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, so none are offered in Motipur. A laptop, a quiet corner and a working connection are all that is required.

Which schools around Muzaffarpur offer the IB or IGCSE?+

We could not confirm any in Motipur or in Muzaffarpur city. The schools we found there follow the Bihar Board or CBSE. If an international school elsewhere is under consideration, ask it directly for its present programmes and admission rules.

Will someone visit our house to teach?+

In Motipur, no. House visits belong to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR alone. Here the arrangement is private tuition at home through a screen, with the same individual attention and no trip to Muzaffarpur.

How is the price worked out?+

Level, subject, programme, the tutor's background and weekly frequency feed into it, and there is no public price list. Following the free class you receive a brief written offer showing the hourly charge, the slot and the first review date.

Our daughter will join a boarding school in Kolkata. Is it worth starting early?+

It is. Over several weeks she can polish formal English, learn what each command word wants and firm up the subject she dreads, and we can rehearse any entrance test. Tell us the school and class and we count back from the first day of term.

What IB subjects can I choose from?+

The two Maths courses at HL and SL, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business Management, English A, Computer Science, Environmental Systems and Societies, Geography, History and Hindi, plus Theory of Knowledge coaching. If yours is missing, ask and we will be straight.

Do you cover Cambridge and Edexcel both?+

Both. If your child is entered with Cambridge, classes use Cambridge papers; if with Edexcel, Edexcel papers, since wording and mark allocation differ. Subjects span Maths, Additional Maths, the sciences, Economics, Business Studies, Computer Science and English.

What does the free class involve?+

Your child meets the proposed tutor and works through a real topic from the current term while you listen in. Fees stay out of it. If the style is wrong, we propose another tutor and offer a second free class.

Can the tutor complete my son's Internal Assessment?+

No. What a tutor offers is an explanation of the criteria, questions that make the plan sharper and comments on any draft he has written. The ideas, figures and words remain his own, which is what IB and Cambridge integrity rules require.

What if rivers flood or the power fails?+

Rain and rising water hit roads and electricity before they hit video. We keep the wettest weeks light, ask for a hotspot and a charged laptop, and carry on by audio with a shared document if the picture drops. A class lost entirely is rebooked.

How are Chhath and the litchi season handled?+

They are written into the calendar at the start. Main Chhath days and the busiest harvest weeks get pauses or shorter classes, and revision for a November sitting is placed in September and the first week of October.

Will a Bihar Board student cope in an IB classroom?+

Usually, with some preparation. The content is rarely the barrier. The change is in the writing: longer English answers, command words and showing the working. A short bridge before the switch covers most of it.

Do you teach younger children as well?+

Yes. PYP children get reading aloud, number games and help finding words for ideas; MYP students get work on criteria and the Personal Project. Starting early softens the jump into Class 11.

Where does IB or IGCSE lead after school?+

The Association of Indian Universities places the Diploma at Class 12 level, and most central universities select through CUET-UG, while IGCSE is followed by AS and A Level or the Diploma. JEE and NEET apply their own rules. Overseas, Canadian, British, Australian and American universities read both.

      How are tutors chosen?+

We check qualifications and recent teaching in the exact programme, then watch a sample class. All teach from within India on Indian time. A pairing that does not click is replaced.

Is IB Gram run by a school, the IB or Cambridge?+

No. IB Gram is an independent tutoring business. Schools named on this page are listed as places a family may research, not as partners.

What is the quickest way to begin?+

Send the school, board, subject, level and the sitting your child is aiming for to support@ibgram.com, or message +91 7439 368 115 on WhatsApp. Families usually hear back inside a working day with a proposed tutor and trial slots.
