IB & IGCSE in Mauganj

IB and IGCSE tuition for a family in Mauganj

Mauganj became the headquarters of its own district in 2023, the fifty-third in Madhya Pradesh, carved from the Rewa area at the edge of the Vindhyan plateau. The surrounding country grows wheat, paddy and onions, Bagheli is spoken at home, and the Bahuti waterfall draws visitors in the rains. An industrial park is coming up at Ghurheta. Schools here follow the Madhya Pradesh Board or CBSE, and we could not confirm any in Mauganj that teaches the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE programme.

A new district brings its own demand. Collectors, police and revenue officers, engineers, doctors and teachers posted to build up the administration arrive from across the state and country, often with children partway through an IB or Cambridge course in another city. Local business and farming families, meanwhile, are discovering that an international qualification can lead to universities in Pune, Bengaluru or abroad.

For both groups the phrase home tuition can only mean a live video lesson. Somebody who has taught the course teaches from a different Indian city; the child stays at the family table in Mauganj with a laptop; the pair work through the specification privately. Nobody drives out to Mauganj, because visits to the house are limited to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. The reward for the screen is selection by syllabus and level in place of selection by distance.

IB Gram is an independent service. We have no tie to the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge, Pearson or any school, and tutors never write internal assessments, Extended Essays, Theory of Knowledge essays or coursework. Teaching, questioning and coaching are what they do.

At a glance

  • Private live lessons for IB PYP, MYP and DP and for Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE
  • Taught online; in-person home tuition is limited to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • A written summary after every lesson
  • A new tutor if the first is not the right fit
  • A written quote before you commit
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Mauganj school years

Children in Mauganj mostly follow the MP Board or CBSE. What follows describes the work a tutor does at each IB stage when the programme is studied at home as a parallel or preparatory course.

PYPNursery up to Class 5 (ages 3-11)

IB Primary Years Programme

Big questions and themes, not a bare list of subjects, steer the classroom, and the stage closes with an Exhibition the pupil directs.

PYP enquiries from Mauganj come mostly from officers' and professionals' children who started in a metro school; tutoring protects reading and curiosity during the posting.

MYPClass 6 up to Class 10 (ages 11-16)

IB Middle Years Programme

Marks in eight subject groups come from stated criteria, and a Personal Project crowns the stage. Explaining and applying count for more than recall.

With no MYP class nearby, tutoring turns the criteria into plain language and uses worked examples for each band.

DPClasses 11 and 12 (ages 16-19)

IB Diploma Programme

Students combine three Higher Level and three Standard Level subjects with the Extended Essay, TOK and CAS, yielding up to 45 points with core bonus points.

Diploma enquiries from the Rewa region centre on medicine, engineering, civil services preparation and study abroad.

CPClass 11 and 12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

Some Diploma courses are paired with a career-related qualification and a reflective project.

We know of no CP school near Mauganj, so tutoring covers the academic courses within the programme.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Mauganj school timetables

Three patterns fit most Mauganj households. The format is always a live private video lesson; the rhythm and purpose are what differ.

A fixed weekly hour

One teacher and one regular slot, covering the specification in order while photographed homework is marked between sessions.

  • Fits IB, MYP and IGCSE subjects
  • Shared drawing board during every class
  • Remarks written on each worksheet
  • The tutor learns how your child works

International course next to an MP Board or CBSE timetable

For a child who attends a local school and keeps an IB or IGCSE course going on weekday evenings or at weekends.

  • Only the international specification is taught
  • Sessions step around school test weeks
  • Parents get a monthly progress note
  • Prepares the ground for a later change of school

Focused pre-exam block

A tight series of sessions ahead of the May or November papers, built on timed practice and correction.

  • Scripts checked against examiner mark schemes
  • Weak topics return each week until secure
  • Begins roughly five weeks before the papers
  • Scheduled with heat and power cuts in mind

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Mauganj

01

Is there an IB or IGCSE school in Mauganj district?

  • No IB or IGCSE school confirmed in Mauganj district
  • Local schools follow the MP Board and CBSE
  • Typical families: officers and professionals posted to the new district, business families
  • Verify new schools on ibo.org and the Cambridge directory

None that we could verify. Our checks of Mauganj, Hanumana, Naigarhi and Deotalab turned up no IB or Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE school. As a newly formed district, Mauganj is still building its administrative and educational infrastructure, and the schools that exist follow the MP Board or CBSE, with a growing number of private English-medium schools.

The district's youth is part of the story. For decades the area was seen as an outlying part of Rewa, with its main colleges and coaching in the larger city. Families here are used to children leaving for Rewa, Prayagraj or Indore for higher study, and an international programme is a new idea for most, though one that officers and professionals posted here know well.

A typical request comes from a family just posted to Mauganj from Bhopal, Indore or another state, with a child in Class 9 or 11 who cannot afford a gap in an IB or IGCSE course. Another comes from a local business family that wants the child ready for a university abroad.

Should a school here be authorised later, the IB's school finder and the Cambridge directory will list it. Please check those directly for any future claim.

02

MP Board, CBSE, IB or IGCSE: which route suits which child?

No ranking is intended here. Each of the four prepares a child for a different future, and in Madhya Pradesh the practical question is how each one connects to entrance exams and to institutions in the state and beyond.

The MP Board is the most widely used and leads into NEET, JEE, CUET and state admissions after Class 12. CBSE gives a national syllabus and is common in private schools. IGCSE develops applied reasoning in tiered papers. IB broadens the load to six subjects, an essay and community service, and suits a child who enjoys writing and discussion.

For a family certain to stay in Madhya Pradesh, the MP Board or CBSE with solid coaching can be the shortest path to a seat. International programmes make sense where transfers are likely, where study abroad is a firm aim, or where the child learns by explaining.

03

What does IB or IGCSE home tuition cost in Mauganj?

  • Level, subject, tutor record and weekly hours decide the rate
  • Quote in writing before you book
  • Nothing spent on travel, rent or hostels
  • Opening lesson free

Rates are left off this page because any single figure would mislead. We first talk through the child, the course and the exam month, then email a written quote for you to weigh.

Four things move the number: the subject and level, because Higher Level Physics needs a rarer teacher than primary reading; the tutor's history with the exact specification; the number of lessons each week; and whether the plan is a steady year or a concentrated burst.

Some costs vanish altogether for a Mauganj household: petrol to Rewa or Satna, a room rented in a coaching city, hostel fees for a child sent away, and the extra a teacher might charge for coming to a district headquarters.

Opening lesson free and complete, so you can compare teaching styles before you pay.

04

Online tutor, coaching class, local teacher or self-study: what works in Mauganj?

Rewa and Prayagraj coaching classes, which many Mauganj students attend, are designed for NEET, JEE, CUET and board results. IB and Cambridge papers do not figure in them, so a parent enquiring about IGCSE Biology is usually told it is not on the timetable.

A neighbourhood teacher may be sharp at general Science and Mathematics yet have no experience of an IB subject guide or an IGCSE examiner report. Studying alone from past papers suits a few very disciplined students, but a wrong habit can survive for months when nobody marks the work.

What comes closest to a school class is an online tutor who has taught the identical course. The grid below compares all four choices.

05

How do Vindhyan heat, field seasons and festivals fit the exam year in Mauganj?

Diploma papers come twice a year, in May and in November, and the IGCSE boards examine in spring, summer and autumn series. Because most Indian candidates sit in May, final revision falls in April and May, the hottest and driest weeks on the plateau, when electricity demand peaks.

Farming sets the family calendar. Paddy is sown with the monsoon in June and July and harvested in October and November, while wheat is sown in the same weeks and cut in March and April. Holi in March, the monsoon holidays, Dussehra and Diwali, and the winter wedding season fill the other breaks. Fog can reduce visibility and slow transport on winter mornings in northern Madhya Pradesh.

We therefore place heavy content teaching in the cooler months, keep field-season weeks lighter for families who need them, and hold timed papers in early morning or evening slots in April.

06

What can a Mauganj student do after IB or IGCSE?

  • Equivalence letter from AIU for public universities
  • Re-read CUET-UG, JEE Main, NEET-UG and MP counselling notices yearly
  • UCAS, direct applications or the Common Application overseas
  • Fit Diploma subjects to the degree you want

Where a student can go from here is decided by three things: the certificate held, the subject mix behind it and the country in view. Learning the formalities in Class 11 saves a scramble in Class 12.

Within India, state and central universities tend to want an Association of Indian Universities equivalence letter from a Diploma graduate, while several private institutions read IB points straight off the transcript. CUET-UG issues a fresh notice on international boards annually. IGCSE graduates normally slot into Class 11 at a CBSE, ICSE or IB school, with A Level as the alternative.

Seats in medicine and engineering hinge on the subject mix, with Biology required for NEET-UG and Mathematics for JEE Main, Physics and Chemistry being common to both. Counselling run by Madhya Pradesh for state seats has its own conditions for students outside the state board system; look them up afresh each year.

Overseas, the UK works through UCAS, Canada and Australia mostly take direct applications, and American colleges use the Common Application. Officer families sometimes eye public policy or law abroad. What a tutor contributes is subject strength, the base on which each of these applications stands.

07

How are IB Mathematics and science lessons run on video?

On screen, a drawing board stands in for the classroom blackboard. The tutor writes, the student works on paper next to the laptop, and a photograph of the finished page goes back so that handwriting and layout can be corrected with the answer.

There are two Diploma Mathematics courses. Analysis and Approaches suits students who like algebra and calculus and may study engineering or economics. Applications and Interpretation emphasises statistics and modelling with technology and suits commerce, biology and social science plans. We talk through the intended degree before the choice is locked.

In Physics, Chemistry and Biology the tutor sets out the specification, drills calculations and definitions and discusses experiment design. The investigation report is written by the student, with feedback given as questions.

Power cuts can happen in summer, so we suggest a charged laptop, a mobile hotspot and, if possible, an inverter for timed papers.

08

Core or Extended: which IGCSE tier should a Mauganj student take?

Each tier has its own question papers. Core grades stop at C while Extended runs up to A star, which means the tier chosen fixes the highest grade a student can reach.

Candidates bound for the IB Diploma, A Level sciences or a stiff engineering stream generally need Extended in Mathematics and the sciences. Core is kinder to a subject that causes real trouble or one studied just for breadth. Once lessons are under way, the tutor can revisit the decision and recommend a switch while entries remain open.

The rest is subject choice. English and Mathematics go with almost everyone, then come two or three sciences and a humanities or business option such as Geography or Economics. In this region Hindi as a second language is a steady scorer.

Cambridge speaks of Core and Extended whereas Edexcel says Foundation and Higher. Tell us your child's board and the pairing follows.

      Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Mauganj: your questions answered

Will anyone from IB Gram come to our Mauganj house?+

No one will. Visits to the house are offered only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, so tuition in Mauganj is delivered over video. Your child studies in the usual corner at home while a private tutor teaches live. The format gives full personal attention and lets you select a specialist from anywhere in India.

Has an IB school opened in the new Mauganj district?+

We could not confirm one in Mauganj, Hanumana, Naigarhi or Deotalab. Local schools follow the MP Board or CBSE. Since the district is new and approvals change, the IB's school finder is the place to check any claim. Until then, IB learners here study through online tutors or move to a school in another city.

How can IGCSE home tuition happen in Mauganj?+

Through a video lesson. We pair your child with a teacher of the right Cambridge or Edexcel subject, and they meet at times that suit you. As no one has to travel, you can ask for a tutor who has handled a specific tier or exam series, something a general local teacher rarely offers.

Where do private IGCSE candidates from Mauganj write their papers?+

At an approved centre that takes outside candidates, most likely in Bhopal, Indore, Lucknow or Delhi. Cambridge and Pearson list centres and entry cut-offs months ahead of each series. Contact a centre early about practical papers and fees. Tutors handle preparation, while entry and exam-day logistics belong to the family.

What is the fee, and does the free lesson really cost nothing?+

It truly costs nothing and is a full class. Later fees depend on the tutor's experience, subject, level and weekly hours, and you see the figure in writing before agreeing. Senior sciences cost more than primary help. Travel is never part of the bill, which matters when Rewa is a long road away.

Which subjects are most common among Mauganj students?+

Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology lead, tied to medical and engineering aims. Economics, Business Management and Environmental Systems follow, along with English, Hindi and History. Some parents ask about Theory of Knowledge, where the tutor discusses ideas but the student writes the essay.

After the IB, can my child still enter NEET or JEE?+

Frequently, subject to the combination taken and to each agency's rules in that year. Physics and Chemistry with Biology or Mathematics are normally expected, and many institutions ask for an equivalence certificate. Madhya Pradesh counselling may treat non-state-board candidates differently, so read the current notice before Class 12 begins.

Do hot afternoons and power cuts interrupt online classes?+

Occasionally. April and May are hot on the plateau and supply can be uneven. A video lesson copes better than a journey would, though a cut still ends a call. Keep a charged laptop and a hotspot, and schedule demanding sessions early or late in the day. Lost sessions are rebooked free.

Can the tutor write my child's Extended Essay or IA?+

No. A tutor may explain what the criteria reward, question a weak research question and give general feedback on structure, but words, data and arguments must be the student's own. That keeps the work authentic and protects your child from a misconduct ruling that could endanger the Diploma.

Is it too early to start IGCSE in Class 8?+

Not at all. Class 8 or 9 leaves time to shift from memorising to explaining. First lessons are gentle, covering command words and core skills, with timed papers added later. A trial class will show how your child responds and how many weekly hours to plan.

How good should the internet connection be?+

Roughly 5 Mbps that holds steady will do for video and a shared board. Fibre or good Wi-Fi is better than mobile data, and a spare phone hotspot is a useful safety net. Minutes lost to a drop are made up later, and the note shows what had been covered.

My child studies in Hindi medium. Will English lessons be hard?+

There is a short adjustment, then most children cope. Lessons run in English because the exams do, though our tutors are Indian and can explain a stubborn idea in Hindi. We match with sensitivity to the shift, and IB Hindi B or IGCSE Hindi can run alongside the main subjects.

How many lessons per week should we plan?+

A single weekly hour with homework suits an ordinary term. Before the papers, two to four lessons a week for about a month is common. Your tutor studies past-paper results, proposes changes, and you may alter the plan by giving written notice.

Which IGCSE boards can you cover?+

Both Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel, with AS and A Level as background. Their papers, syllabus codes and tiers differ, so say which board your child has entered. The tutor is chosen for that board, and a later change of board simply means a new match.

What is the easiest way to begin?+

Send a message to +91 7439 368 115 on WhatsApp or write to support@ibgram.com with your child's class, board, subject and a good time. A suitable tutor is usually suggested within a few days. You owe nothing at that stage and can ask for a different tutor before you book.
