IB and IGCSE Tutors and Home Tuition in Margao

Looking for private home tuition in Margao for the IB or an IGCSE? Our tutors do not visit homes in Goa, so each lesson is live, one-to-one and online, taken by your child at the dining table or study desk on a laptop. South Goa's schools run the Goa Board, CBSE and ICSE, and no Margao school is confirmed to teach the IB or a Cambridge syllabus, so a tutor matched to the exact subject and level does the job a school class cannot.

  • A tutor who has recently taught the exact IB or IGCSE subject and level your child needs
  • Every lesson runs on screen; tutor visits to a home exist only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • A full trial lesson before any decision, at no charge
  • Independent of every school, exam board and exam centre in Goa

IB & IGCSE in Margao

Online IB and IGCSE tuition for Margao families, plainly explained

Margao, the commercial heart of South Goa, has plenty of good schooling and very little of it built around the IB or Cambridge. A family here that wants either curriculum usually ends up doing part of the journey at a kitchen table, with a screen, a tutor and a set of past papers. That is exactly the situation our IB and IGCSE tutors in Margao are set up for: live, one-to-one lessons that follow the real syllabus rather than a generic revision course.

Who asks? A returning family whose children spent years in Dubai, Muscat or London and do not want a break in curriculum. Seafarers' households, where a parent is away for months and the child's study plan needs a steady adult voice. Hospitality and property families in Salcete with guests and partners from abroad. Goan households with Portuguese links who see an international qualification as a passport of another kind. Each brings a different timetable, and the tutor adapts to it.

No tutor arrives at a Margao front door. Home visits are run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, so everything here is online. The upside is reach: your child is not limited to whoever happens to live in Salcete, and can work with a specialist in Cambridge Additional Mathematics or IB Chemistry HL from anywhere in India, on Indian Standard Time, with no commute and no lost evening on the Margao-Verna road.

IB Gram is an independent service. It is not affiliated with the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge, Pearson or any school named here. Tutors coach and mark; they never write an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay or coursework on a student's behalf, and families who ask for that are told no at the first conversation.

At a glance

  • IB PYP, MYP and DP, plus Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE
  • Live one-to-one lessons on video, with a shared whiteboard and past papers
  • Suits returning NRIs, seafaring families, Cambridge private candidates and Goa Board or CBSE switchers
  • A written note after each session and a free trial lesson first
  • No tutor visits in Margao; home visits run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Margao school years

Margao does not have a local IB classroom to attach these programmes to, so most families meet them through a move, a boarding decision or a child already studying in another country. The support a tutor gives looks quite different at each of the four stages.

PYPAges 3-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Learning is organised around transdisciplinary themes, not a rigid timetable of subjects, and the stage ends with the PYP Exhibition, a long inquiry the child plans and presents. A tutor at this age spends most time on reading aloud, number sense and helping a child put a question into words.

Margao PYP enquiries mostly come from families who lived abroad and expect to return, or who are deciding whether to move north toward Panaji and Bardez for school; tutoring keeps reading and arithmetic level with peers in the meantime.

MYPAges 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Teachers grade every subject against criteria labelled A to D, and students complete a Personal Project in the final MYP year. The hard part is rarely the content; it is reading what a criterion really asks and shaping an answer to it.

Families in Salcete weighing a switch from the Goa Board or CBSE use MYP-style tutoring to learn criterion-based writing in Science, Individuals and Societies and language classes before any school decision is made.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard, are joined by Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and a Creativity, Activity, Service strand. Internal assessments sit inside each subject, and the written papers fall in one May window each year.

A Margao student on the Diploma is almost always enrolled away from the city or abroad; tutors work on Maths, the sciences and Economics at HL, and on the exam technique that decides boundary grades.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

CP pairs two or more Diploma courses with a career-related study and a reflective project. Few Indian schools run it, but the Diploma courses inside it are taught and examined to the same standard as any DP subject.

CP is rare in Goa and unheard of in Margao schools; if a family meets it elsewhere, the tutoring need is ordinary Diploma-course coaching.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Two Margao students who both say they take IB Maths may need completely different teachers, because Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation reward different habits. So the course code, level and exam session come first, then the tutor, then a weekly slot that survives a Goan monsoon evening.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Paper 3 at HL presents problems unlike anything in a past paper, so timed work on unfamiliar material matters more than rereading solved examples.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Marks depend on calculator fluency, reading a model critically and choosing a data set for the exploration long before the deadline.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Each syllabus theme can turn up, so weak areas get found early, and the Scientific Investigation is judged on the logic of its method.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Energetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms carry many marks, and using the data booklet quickly is a skill that has to be drilled.

IB Biology

HL / SL

Misreading the command term costs more than missing a fact, and an IA conclusion needs a proper statistical test behind it.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Correct diagrams plus a current, specific example earn marks; HL Paper 3 adds calculations and policy evaluation.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Answers must apply theory to the case in front of the student, and the internal assessment needs a real organisation that will answer questions.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Unseen-text analysis, the comparative essay and the individual oral are separate skills, and each needs its own rehearsal.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

The written paper tests algorithms and system thinking apart from the coding done for the internal assessment.

IB Psychology

HL / SL

Each argument needs a named study, accurately described, and long answers are marked for structure as well as recall.

IB Environmental Systems & Societies

SL / HL

Evaluating trade-offs and naming real examples beats reciting definitions, which suits coastal Goa's own tourism and land-use debates.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Named case studies with real detail carry the papers, and a fieldwork method has to be repeatable by someone else.

IB History

HL / SL

Source evaluation drives Paper 1 while Paper 2 rewards one sustained argument across a whole essay.

IB Hindi B and Konkani-linked language study

HL / SL

Hindi B needs months of spoken practice for the oral; families who want Konkani or Portuguese alongside should tell us at the start.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

Students learn to argue a prescribed title from several angles, and the tutor's work is to keep pressing past the first easy answer.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

In Goa, IGCSE is most often taken as a private candidate, which changes the tutor's job: besides the syllabus, there is registration through an approved centre, a choice of tier and, in the sciences, the alternative-to-practical paper taken when no school laboratory is involved.

IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core / Extended

Method marks reward visible working, so Extended-tier students who skip lines forfeit marks they already earned.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Grade 10

Calculus, vectors and trigonometric identities arrive early here, which is why it helps later IB Maths AA candidates.

Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics A 4MA1

Foundation / Higher

Similar mathematics to Cambridge but set with different phrasing, so this specification needs its own past-paper routine.

IGCSE Physics 0625

Core / Extended

Students without laboratory access need focused work on the alternative-to-practical paper, which has its own command of method and error.

IGCSE Chemistry 0620

Core / Extended

Mole calculations and balancing cause more lost marks than organic chemistry, mostly through arithmetic habit.

IGCSE Biology 0610

Core / Extended

Extended answers are marked on structure and precise vocabulary, not just on knowing the topic.

IGCSE Economics 0455

Grade 9-10

Evaluation questions ('to what extent') are where candidates with Core-level preparation usually stall.

IGCSE Computer Science 0478

Grade 9-10

Pseudocode and trace tables improve only by solving new problems, not by rereading old ones.

IGCSE English as a Second Language 0510

Grade 9-10

Speaking and listening components suit Goan students whose home language mix includes Konkani, Marathi or Portuguese.

IGCSE Business Studies 0450

Grade 9-10

The case study dictates the answer, so generic revision notes lose to practice on real scenarios.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Margao school timetables

Format is not really a choice in Margao, since live video lessons are the only kind we run here. What varies is rhythm: some families want one steady weekly slot through the year, others want a burst before the May or November series.

Weekly one-to-one lessons over video

One tutor, one student, a shared whiteboard and the real past papers, at a slot that stays fixed week to week around school, sport and family commitments.

  • Tutors drawn from across India, not only Goa
  • Works for DP, MYP, PYP or private-candidate IGCSE
  • Continuity with one tutor rather than a rotating cast
  • A recording or note so a missed detail is not lost

Private-candidate IGCSE programme

For students sitting Cambridge or Edexcel exams without a school behind them, a tutor plans the whole course, from syllabus order to mock papers, and helps the family understand what registration involves.

  • Term-by-term plan built from the current syllabus
  • Mock papers marked to the live mark scheme
  • Guidance on alternative-to-practical preparation
  • Advice on asking an approved centre about entries and fees

Exam-season intensive

Lessons rise to three or four a week before the May or October and November sessions, with timed papers, same-week marking and a focus on the topics that lose the most marks.

  • Sessions timed around monsoon power cuts and festival weeks
  • Feedback within days, not weeks
  • Best booked two to three weeks ahead
  • Can be paused after the last paper with no penalty

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Margao

01

Which schools near Margao teach the IB or an IGCSE?

  • No confirmed IB or Cambridge school inside Margao today
  • Nearest confirmed schools are in Tiswadi and Bardez, across the Zuari
  • Private-candidate IGCSE is a real route; the IB Diploma has none
  • Always confirm a school's current programmes with the school directly

No school in Margao is confirmed to teach the IB or a Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel IGCSE syllabus. Edustoke's Margao listing shows four schools, all CBSE or ICSE, and the wider city runs on the Goa Board, CBSE and ICSE. One school in town describes IB and Cambridge courses as proposed and in process, and until that is confirmed in writing we do not count it.

The closest confirmed options sit across the Zuari. Sunshine Worldwide Secondary School at Goa Velha is listed as IB in the early years, while Paradise School in Aldona and The Ardee School in Sangolda, both in Bardez, are listed as Cambridge schools. From Margao these are a long daily commute, which is why boarding or a move north comes up in family conversations.

That leaves private-candidate IGCSE, which is a real route. A student registers with an approved exam centre, studies at home with a tutor, and sits the papers in the May or June and October or November series. The IB Diploma has no equivalent, because the IB requires enrolment at an authorised IB World School for the full two years.

So the practical picture for Margao is this: a few families move or board, a few study IGCSE alone, and most simply add expert tutoring to a Goa Board or CBSE education while keeping a door open. Each choice works, and a tutor matched to the syllabus helps with all of them.

02

How do the Goa Board, CBSE and ICSE compare with IB and IGCSE?

The Goa Board and CBSE reward accurate recall inside a known paper format, and Margao students are often very good at it. IB and IGCSE reward something else: applying an idea to a situation the paper has not rehearsed. A chemistry question that says 'evaluate the method' expects a judgement, not a definition.

Coursework is the clearest day-to-day difference. The Goa Board's internal marks and CBSE's practical and project credit are modest; IB internal assessments count for a substantial slice of most subjects, and IGCSE has coursework or practical components in several. Planning a long piece of independent work, drafting it and revising is a skill many board students have never been taught.

Depth varies by level. IB Higher Level mathematics and sciences run beyond Class 12 board content; IGCSE Extended sits above Class 10 board work while Core sits close to it. That Core or Extended decision in Grade 9 determines how steep the later jump will feel.

It is not automatically harder. Some students find that continuous coursework, published criteria and a choice of subjects suit them far better than one big board exam, once somebody has explained how the marking works.

03

What does an IB or IGCSE tutor cost in Margao, and what sets the fee?

  • Programme, subject, level and session length set the rate
  • Distance does not, because lessons run online
  • Rates are given in writing before the free trial
  • Pause, change tutor or stop at any time

The price of an IB or IGCSE tutor for a Margao family depends on four things: the programme, the subject and level, how long each session runs, and how recently the tutor has taught that exact syllabus. Higher Level Diploma subjects cost more than Core IGCSE because fewer tutors have current experience with them. We quote the rate in writing before the trial, and it does not change afterwards.

Location does not enter the calculation. A tutor teaching from Pune or Chennai costs the same as one teaching from Panaji, since nobody travels. Families sometimes compare this with visiting-tutor rates quoted in Delhi NCR, where home visits are offered and travel time is priced in; that is a different service in a different place.

A low hourly rate is not always good value. A tutor who has marked Cambridge alternative-to-practical papers, or coached students through IB Maths AA Paper 3, gets further in one hour than a generalist in two. Ask what a session is meant to achieve before comparing numbers.

Nothing is locked in. Families review progress every few weeks, can pause over Ganesh Chaturthi or the Christmas break, and can ask for a different tutor if the fit is wrong. We publish no fixed prices because the honest answer depends on the combination above.

Online tutor, local coaching class, private home tutor or self-study: which suits Margao?

Margao has a healthy tuition market, mostly built around the Goa Board, CBSE and Class 12 science and commerce. A coaching class that covers Cambridge Additional Mathematics or IB Chemistry HL is very hard to find, because the student numbers are simply too small to fill a batch.

Private home tutors in Salcete are useful for confidence and homework, but few have taught either curriculum, and marking against an IB or Cambridge scheme is a learned skill. A generalist can be kind and diligent and still miss what the examiner wants.

Self-study works for some IGCSE subjects. Cambridge and Edexcel past papers are easy to find and Mathematics in particular rewards steady practice. Where it breaks down is coursework planning, Extended Essay structure and long written answers, which are the skills that need a second pair of eyes.

An online tutor matched to the syllabus solves the scarcity problem, because the pool is all of India. The trade-off is that the student needs a reasonable connection and a quiet corner, which matters in Margao when the June to September rain stresses broadband and power.

What does the Goan school year look like for IB and IGCSE exams?

  • IB Diploma written papers: May session
  • Cambridge IGCSE: February and March, May and June, October and November series
  • Pearson Edexcel IGCSE: January, May and June, October and November
  • Check your exam centre for the dates it actually offers

Goa's school year starts in June with the monsoon, runs through a Ganesh Chaturthi break of several days in late August or September, and includes a Diwali week, the Christmas and New Year holidays and the Carnival weekend in February. Annual exams for the Goa Board and CBSE are in March. IB and IGCSE calendars run on their own rhythm, so a Margao student mixing systems often has overlapping pressure.

The IB Diploma exams fall in May and, for some schools, November, with results in July and January. Cambridge IGCSE has a February and March series in India for some subjects, a May and June series and an October and November series. Pearson Edexcel IGCSE runs in January, May and June and October and November, with restrictions on which are open to private candidates.

The monsoon is the local wildcard. Heavy rain from June to September can knock out power and broadband for hours, and Salcete's low-lying villages are prone to waterlogging. Families plan with a backup slot, a mobile hotspot and a tutor who is comfortable rescheduling.

Tourism shapes evenings too. From October to March, families in Colva, Benaulim and Varca work long hospitality hours, and a student's evening routine moves with them. A fixed weekend slot often works better than a weekday one in that season.

Where can an IB or IGCSE student from Margao go to university?

IB and IGCSE students from Margao keep both Indian and overseas options open. The Association of Indian Universities recognises the IB Diploma as equivalent to Class 12 for admission, and Cambridge IGCSE followed by A Levels is treated similarly. Goa University and colleges under it accept such candidates, subject to each course's own rules.

For Indian entrance exams, CUET-UG accepts students from many boards, and its syllabus sits closer to NCERT than to the IB, so IB students often need a bridging plan. JEE Main and NEET have their own eligibility and subject requirements, and they change, so check the current information bulletin of the testing agency before committing to a subject mix.

For study abroad, Goa has a long tradition of students going to the UK, Portugal, Canada and the Gulf. The IB Diploma carries weight in UK admissions and Canadian universities, and the IB points score feeds directly into offers. IGCSE results matter at the point of choosing A Level or IB subjects.

Local institutions near Margao also matter: IIT Goa and NIT Goa at Farmagudi, Goa Engineering College, and colleges in Margao itself. Whatever the destination, IB Gram tutors focus on the subject-level marks that admission tests and offers depend on.

07

IB Maths AA or AI, and how the sciences are taught online

  • AA suits future engineers and mathematicians; AI suits economics and social science routes
  • Shared digital whiteboard keeps working visible
  • Science investigations are coached, never written by the tutor
  • Paper technique and IA planning are taught separately

Choosing between IB Maths Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation is the most common early decision. AA suits students who enjoy algebra, calculus and proof and may study engineering or pure science. AI suits those who prefer modelling, statistics and technology, such as future economists or social scientists. HL of either is demanding; SL is more forgiving.

Online teaching works well for mathematics because the tutor and student share a digital whiteboard and write together. Working is visible, errors get caught as they happen, and the recording of the lesson is something a student can replay before a test.

The IB sciences need practical understanding, not only theory. For Physics, Chemistry and Biology, the tutor guides the student through designing an investigation, collecting data from whatever lab or kitchen access exists, and analysing uncertainty. The investigation is the student's own work; the tutor's role is to question the method.

For students whose school has limited labs, simulations and video demonstrations fill gaps, and the tutor explains which skills the examiner expects to see. Tutors also coach the written paper technique separately from the internal assessment, because the two need different preparation.

08

IGCSE Core or Extended: how should a Margao student choose subjects and tier?

  • Extended tier for anyone heading to IB HL Maths or sciences
  • Core tier suits a manageable, confidence-building course
  • Choose one board per subject and practise its papers
  • Five to eight subjects with a spread of skills

IGCSE students in most Cambridge subjects choose between Core and Extended tiers. Core caps the grade at a C in many subjects and suits students who need a solid, manageable course. Extended opens grades A star to G and is right for anyone who may take A Level or the IB Diploma in the sciences or mathematics.

A sensible Margao student planning IB Diploma Maths or Physics will aim for Extended in Mathematics and the sciences, and consider Additional Mathematics alongside. Students aiming for humanities, languages or the arts can often balance the load with Core in one or two subjects.

Board choice matters too. Cambridge papers and Pearson Edexcel papers differ in style and in how coursework or practical assessment works, so a student should commit to one board per subject and practise its papers. A tutor experienced in both can explain the differences before you register.

Subject number is another question. Most students take between five and eight, and university applicants usually need a spread: English, mathematics, a science, and a humanity or language. For families in Goa, adding Hindi or another language credit is a useful extra that tutors can coach.

09

How do you get started with an IB or IGCSE tutor in Margao?

Getting started takes three steps. First, send us the programme or board, subject and level, your child's current grade and the times that suit your household. Second, we shortlist a tutor with current experience of that syllabus and share their teaching background. Third, your child takes a free trial lesson online.

During the trial the tutor works on a genuine topic from your child's own syllabus, not a sales demonstration. You see how they explain, how your child responds, and whether the pace suits. If it does not, we find another tutor without any awkwardness.

After the trial, a short first-month plan sets the weekly rhythm and what to cover, and a written note follows each session. A review every few weeks tells you where your child stands against the syllabus and the mark scheme.

For private candidates, the tutor also helps you understand the registration steps with an approved exam centre, which you deal with directly. We are not an exam centre and do not register students, but we can explain what to ask.

Where we tutor

Margao neighbourhoods we teach students from, online

Since every lesson is online, your address matters for timing, not travel: how heavy the evening monsoon traffic is on the Margao roads, how long the school run takes, and how much of the day a family's own business already occupies.

Fatorda

A dense residential suburb next to the Fatorda stadium and the Margao railway side, with many Goa Board and CBSE students; evening slots suit families who finish the school run by five.

Aquem and Borda

Older residential streets close to the city centre; Borda is also the site of a government college, so college-age siblings often share the household timetable.

Comba and the Church Square area

The historic core around the Holy Spirit Church and the municipal market, where many families run shops and lessons happen once the market day quietens.

Navelim

A large village west of Margao along the Verna road; families here often have seafaring or Gulf employment in the household.

Gogol and Pajifond

Fast-growing residential pockets with apartment complexes, popular with young professional families who want weekend slots.

Davorlim and Raia

Semi-rural belts toward Raia and the Loyola side of Salcete, where connectivity can dip in heavy rain, so a fixed backup time is sensible.

Colva and Benaulim

Beach villages a short drive west, with hospitality and guesthouse families whose evenings shift with the tourist season from October to March.

Varca and Cavelossim

Resort-belt villages further south; children of hotel and restaurant staff often need late-evening or early-morning sessions.

Loutolim and Chandor

Heritage villages inland, known for their old Portuguese-era houses; families are often settled, long-term residents with relatives abroad.

Curtorim and Verna

Eastern Salcete and the Verna industrial estate, where parents working shifts need flexible slots and weekend intensives.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Margao

Margao itself

Directory listings for Margao show CBSE, ICSE and Goa Board schools. One school describes IB and Cambridge courses as proposed and in process, which we do not treat as confirmed, so we name no school here as offering either.

Nearby: Goa Velha and Tiswadi (Panaji side)

Roughly 30 to 40 kilometres north across the Zuari bridge; Edustoke lists this school as IB in the early years, so parents of older children should ask how far the programme runs.

    • Sunshine Worldwide Secondary School, Goa Velha

    Nearby: Bardez (North Goa)

A longer drive north via the Mandovi bridges. One school here offers Cambridge through to AS and A Level and the other lists the Cambridge curriculum, which is why some Salcete families consider boarding or relocating for a year.

    • Paradise School, Aldona
    • The Ardee School, Sangolda

IB Gram is independent. It has no partnership with any school named on this page, none with the International Baccalaureate Organization, and none with Cambridge Assessment International Education or Pearson Edexcel. School names come from public directories and each school's own site; grade ranges change, so please confirm current details with the school itself.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Margao: your questions answered

Are there IB and IGCSE tutors in Margao who teach at home?+

Not in person: our tutors do not visit homes in Margao or anywhere in Goa. Home visits run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. What Margao families get is live one-to-one tuition online, taken at home on a laptop, with a tutor matched to the exact IB or IGCSE subject and level. Many find it gives them a wider choice of specialists than a local search would.

Is there an IB or IGCSE school in Margao?+

No school in Margao is confirmed to offer either. Directory listings show CBSE, ICSE and Goa Board schools, and one school describes IB and Cambridge courses as proposed. The nearest confirmed options are Sunshine Worldwide Secondary School in Goa Velha, listed as IB, and Paradise School and The Ardee School in Bardez, listed for Cambridge. Always check a school's current status with it directly.

Can my child study IGCSE at home in Margao as a private candidate?+

Yes, for IGCSE. Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel both allow private candidates to register through an approved exam centre and sit the papers without attending a school. Some science subjects need the alternative-to-practical paper. The IB Diploma has no such route and requires enrolment at an IB World School. Families handle registration directly with the centre and use a tutor for the teaching.

What does an IB or IGCSE tutor cost in Margao?+

The rate depends on the programme, subject and level, session length and how recently the tutor taught that syllabus. It is quoted in writing before the free trial and does not change afterwards. Distance plays no part because lessons are online. We publish no fixed prices, since a Higher Level Diploma subject and an IGCSE Core course are priced differently.

Does a tutor help with IB Internal Assessments?+

Tutors guide but never write. They help choose a workable question, explain what each criterion rewards, discuss data collection and give honest feedback on a draft. They will not write, rewrite or complete any part of an assessed piece, because that breaches IB integrity rules. The same applies to the Extended Essay, TOK essay and IGCSE coursework.

Which IB subjects can you cover for a Margao student?+

Both Maths courses at HL and SL, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business Management, English A, Computer Science, Psychology, ESS, Geography and History are regularly covered, along with Hindi B, TOK and Extended Essay guidance. If your subject is unusual, tell us early so we can confirm a tutor before the trial.

Is online tutoring effective without a local IB school?+

Yes, and the absence of a local school makes it more valuable, because the tutor supplies what the classroom would. A shared whiteboard, screen-shared past papers and recorded worked examples cover nearly everything an in-room tutor could, with the extra benefit of drawing from specialists anywhere in India. Stable broadband and a quiet corner are the main requirements.

How does the Goa monsoon affect online lessons?+

Heavy rain can interrupt power and broadband from June to September, especially in low-lying Salcete villages. Families usually agree a backup time, keep a mobile hotspot ready and let the tutor know if a storm is forecast. Sessions that are lost are rescheduled at no extra cost, and recorded material can fill short gaps.

When should my child start IB or IGCSE tutoring?+

Start at the beginning of the course if you can: Class 11 for the Diploma, Grade 9 for IGCSE. That leaves time to fix foundations before internal assessments and mock exams. A later start still helps if the tutor focuses on the highest-value topics and on timed papers, but earlier support is gentler.

We are moving from the Goa Board or CBSE. Can a tutor ease the change?+

Yes. The gap is usually exam style rather than content: command words such as evaluate and justify need direct teaching, and coursework planning is new. A tutor can begin several months before the switch, cover the key concepts and practise criterion-based writing so the first term does not feel like a cliff.

Do you cover Konkani, Portuguese or Hindi?+

Hindi B is covered at IB and IGCSE level, and English is available across all programmes. Konkani and Portuguese depend on the syllabus and tutor availability, so ask us at the start. Goan students often benefit from a tutor who understands a multilingual home, and we try to match for that where we can.

Is there a free trial lesson?+

Yes, and every family gets one. Your child works through a genuine topic from their own syllabus with the matched tutor, online, at no cost. After the trial you can continue, ask for a different tutor or stop. The rate is agreed in writing before the trial, so nothing changes afterwards.

Can lessons happen on weekends or during the Ganesh Chaturthi break?+

Yes. Weekday evenings and weekend mornings are most popular, and many families use the Ganesh Chaturthi and Christmas breaks for catch-up blocks. Tell the tutor about the dates that matter and they will plan around them, including a lighter schedule in festival weeks.

    How are tutors verified?+

We check qualifications, recent teaching of the exact syllabus and how well the tutor understands current mark schemes before introducing anyone. A free trial lets you confirm the fit directly. With no local school pool to draw from in Margao, recent, relevant experience is the standard we apply rather than general confidence.

Is IB Gram connected to any school or exam board?+

No. IB Gram is independent of the International Baccalaureate Organization, Cambridge, Pearson and every school mentioned on this page. Tutors follow the published syllabus and the school's own calendar where a student is enrolled. Names appear only to help families understand what exists near Margao.

What happens if we are unhappy with a tutor?+

Tell us and a different tutor is arranged. Reviews every few weeks are meant to catch a mismatch early, and no child is asked to persist with someone who is not working. There is no long contract, so pausing or stopping carries no penalty.
