IB and IGCSE Tutors and Online Home Tuition in Mankachar

Mankachar sits beside the Brahmaputra where Assam meets Meghalaya and Bangladesh, far from any school teaching the IB or Cambridge IGCSE. Home tuition for those courses reaches a Mankachar student as an online one-to-one lesson with a tutor who has taught the exact syllabus. Nobody travels to Mankachar homes; visiting tutors work only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

  • Tutors who have taught your child's exact IB subject and level, or IGCSE board, code and tier
  • Online lessons only: in-person tuition is limited to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, so no tutor visits Mankachar
  • A first lesson at no charge and a quote in writing before you decide
  • An independent service, unconnected to the IB, Cambridge, Pearson or any named school

IB & IGCSE in Mankachar

Studying an international syllabus from a riverside district of Assam

Mankachar belongs to the South Salmara-Mankachar district of western Assam, a landscape of river channels, sandbars and fertile floodplain on the Brahmaputra's southern side. The towns and villages here are served by Assam board and CBSE schools, and we have found no school in the area teaching the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE course. The nearest places where such schools exist are Guwahati and Kolkata, a long journey from Mankachar by road or rail.

That distance defines who asks us for help. One family may have a son or daughter at a boarding school in Guwahati or beyond, returning to Mankachar for long holidays. Another may have a relative abroad and want a child to follow a curriculum with a clear route to overseas study. Another may simply want a stronger English-medium base than a local school can give.

In every case the stumbling block is the same: there is no neighbour who has taught IB Mathematics HL or IGCSE Chemistry. Online lessons remove that block. A tutor elsewhere in India teaches your child live over video, one to one, from the board's own past papers, and writes a short note when the hour ends.

Tutors teach, mark and advise. They do not write or rewrite any Internal Assessment, Extended Essay or coursework.

At a glance

  • Courses from the IB PYP, MYP, DP and CP
  • Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE at every tier
  • Private live lessons online, in Indian Standard Time
  • A free trial class, then a plan in writing
  • No tutor visits in Mankachar; in-person tuition exists only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Mankachar school years

Since no school near Mankachar teaches an IB stage, the programme a child follows is tied to a school elsewhere or to a future move. These notes describe the typical starting points so that lessons begin from the real position.

PYPClass 1-5, ages 6-12

IB Primary Years Programme (PYP)

Learning is gathered into units of inquiry and ends in a collaborative Exhibition. There is no external test, so lessons build English reading, comfort with number and the questioning habit the programme depends on.

A Mankachar child on the PYP is usually someone who began in another city, or a younger learner being prepared for a boarding place in Guwahati.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme (MYP)

Four criteria grade each MYP subject and the Personal Project concludes the programme. Many students from regional-medium schools first need to learn how an explanation, rather than a fact, earns a top band.

Requests from western Assam usually concern a student recently placed in an MYP school who needs patient help with English-medium, criteria-marked work.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Three Higher and three Standard Level subjects, plus Theory of Knowledge, an Extended Essay and CAS. Written papers mainly fall in May, with a November sitting in some schools.

For Mankachar students, Diploma help usually means Mathematics, the sciences and English A for someone who finished Class 10 under the Assam board.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

Diploma courses combine with career-related study and a short core. Few schools in India run it.

Enquiries about the CP from Mankachar are very rare; any that appear concern the Diploma courses within the pathway.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

A Higher Level Physics student and a Standard Level History student are best served by different tutors, so each match starts with subject and level. The exam sitting and current grade follow, and the tutor's free hours settle the rest.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

No facts to learn; the skill is arguing a knowledge question from two sides.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

The name IGCSE covers two syllabus families, and a Mankachar plan therefore starts with board, code and tier. Cambridge 0580 Extended and Edexcel 4MA1 Higher differ in layout; the exam series, whether Cambridge in February-March, May-June or October-November or Edexcel in January or summer, comes next.

IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core / Extended

For Extended students, quick algebra and all working shown, since missing steps cost most marks.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Grade 9-10

Brings in calculus and trigonometry before the IB, a useful head start.

Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics A 4MA1

Foundation / Higher

The Pearson layout and wording are different, so practise on Pearson papers.

IGCSE Physics 0625

Directed writing, summary and descriptive tasks to the clock.

IGCSE Bengali as a Second Language 0449

Grade 9-10

Reading, writing and speaking for students who want a second-language grade.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Mankachar school timetables

Whatever the family, a Mankachar lesson is a tutor and one student, live on screen. The three options below differ in tempo. No tutor comes to the house.

A steady weekly lesson

One evening each week with the same tutor, a shared whiteboard and past papers on screen. It suits a student whose school covers the syllabus and who needs a second explanation.

  • Specialists from across India
  • MYP, DP and all IGCSE subjects
  • Papers shown on screen
  • The same tutor throughout

A term plan with reviews

Several months of lessons, a brief note after each class and a longer review every few weeks. It helps a boarder at home for the holidays or a family working towards a move.

  • A written summary per class
  • Marks compared with schemes
  • Good for new IB arrivals
  • Extra lessons before mocks

A short exam push

Two or three lessons weekly for a few weeks, mostly timed papers with quick feedback, scheduled away from flood peaks and festival weeks.

  • Real time limits
  • Prompt correction
  • Avoids the wettest weeks
  • Book three weeks ahead

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Mankachar

01

Who in the Mankachar area asks about IB or IGCSE tutoring?

  • No IB or IGCSE school is confirmed in the Mankachar area
  • Requests are specific, not casual
  • Online reaches tutors no local search would find
  • Marking is identical to any other city

Mankachar is a border-side riverine town, part of an area where farming, fishing, trade and migration for work shape household life. Its schools follow the Assam board and CBSE, and the closest institutions teaching IB or Cambridge IGCSE are in Guwahati and Kolkata. A request for IB or IGCSE tuition here is therefore specific and purposeful.

One group is the family with a child at a distant boarding school who wants support when the child is home. Another is the household with a member working elsewhere in India or abroad, who has seen how an international qualification travels. A third is the ambitious student in a local school who intends to apply abroad and wants to build English-medium Mathematics and science skills early.

A fourth group is the private candidate. Cambridge allows entry at approved exam centres, which usually means travelling to Guwahati or Kolkata for the papers while studying at home.

None of these households finds a Mankachar tutor who has taught the courses, and online matching addresses that.

02

How does the Assam board compare with CBSE, IB and IGCSE?

  • Subject English needs early building
  • Coursework teaches planning
  • Mark schemes are public
  • A switch is realistic with help

The Assam boards, SEBA at Class 10 and AHSEC at Class 12, reward careful reproduction of a prescribed syllabus, often in Assamese, Bengali or English medium. CBSE offers a more standard national pattern. IB and IGCSE instead reward application, reasoning and clear English expression.

The assessment structure differs. IB subjects include an internal component worth around a fifth to a third of the grade, and IGCSE has coursework or a practical-skills paper. Planning a piece of work over months and responding to feedback is a skill that must be taught.

Language is the most important change for students from regional-medium schools. Subject words, command words and the habit of writing a full structured answer are new, and the first weeks usually go to them. Explaining an idea in Bengali or Assamese can speed understanding, with English as the target for the exam.

None of this is unfair or impossible. Mark schemes are public, and once understood they make the system predictable.

03

What does IB or IGCSE tuition cost for a Mankachar student?

A Mankachar family sees no published price because the figure depends on four things: the course, the level, the tutor's experience and weekly hours. A written quote follows the free trial and always precedes booking.

Higher Level Mathematics and science courses generally cost more than Standard Level humanities since fewer tutors can teach them at depth. A tutor with years of classroom or examining experience asks for more than a newcomer. More weekly lessons raise the bill but can speed progress.

Online delivery takes travel out of the cost. For a family in Mankachar, the nearest alternative would mean a road or ferry journey to Dhubri, or a far longer trip to Guwahati, which costs a day as well as money.

If funds are tight, tell us early. A four-week plan on one weak topic, or a fortnightly check-in alongside self-study, can be arranged.

04

Which suits Mankachar: online lessons, Dhubri coaching, a local tutor or self-study?

For IB and IGCSE, live online lessons are the surest route to a tutor who has taught the syllabus, since Dhubri coaching centres on Assam board, JEE and NEET and rarely hold IB or Cambridge experience.

A tutor in town may be excellent for Assamese, Bengali or general Mathematics yet never have met an IB Paper 3 or an Edexcel Higher paper. Self-study suits the disciplined, though marking is absent.

Travel is a real factor in this district. A trip to Dhubri can take hours, and in flood weeks roads and ferries are unreliable. A lesson at home does not depend on either.

Many families combine methods, using school for the base, online lessons for the hard subject and self-study for revision.

How do the Brahmaputra floods and the Assamese festival year shape study?

Diploma papers fall in May and November, with Cambridge IGCSE sittings in February-March, May-June and October-November and Edexcel sittings in January and May-June. Mocks arrive in December and January, so a Mankachar student has the first half of the school year to learn new content before the Brahmaputra winter dryness sets in.

The Brahmaputra and its tributaries rise every monsoon, and from June to September low-lying areas in this district can flood, with roads, ferries and power affected. A lesson plan for those months should include spare slots, a charged laptop and a phone hotspot. Winter is cool and dry and the best season for steady study.

Festivals add breaks. Bohag Bihu in April is the biggest Assamese celebration, Eid falls on the lunar calendar, Durga Puja is in October and Magh Bihu in January. Planning mocks and Internal Assessment drafts around these dates avoids a last-minute rush.

The sun sets early in Assam, often before five in winter, so evening lessons start while it is already dark; many families prefer late afternoon.

06

Where can an IB or IGCSE student from Mankachar study next?

From Mankachar, the usual Indian route runs through the equivalence certificate that the Association of Indian Universities gives IB Diploma holders, accepted by most colleges, together with CUET-UG for central universities. In Assam, JEE Main and NEET decide state engineering and medical seats, so check how each treats IB and IGCSE candidates.

Closer to Mankachar are Gauhati University, Cotton University and IIT Guwahati, plus colleges in Dhubri. Further out lie Delhi University, Jadavpur, Presidency, Ashoka and Shiv Nadar. JEE Main needs Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry; NEET needs Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English.

For a Mankachar student looking abroad, universities in the UK, US, Canada, Australia and Europe recognise the IB Diploma, and IGCSE grades count in applications that continue through A Levels or the IB. A tutor can suggest subject pairings that keep options open on both sides of the border of India.

Early planning from Class 8 or 9 avoids a rushed choice after Class 10 results.

How is IB Maths and science taught online to a Mankachar student?

IB Mathematics comes as Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation, each at Higher or Standard Level. Students who enjoy algebra and proof lean to the first; those who prefer data and modelling to the second. We ask about the intended degree before the first lesson.

For Mankachar's science students, a lesson usually dissects one past paper: Paper 1 multiple choice, Paper 2 structured, and the internal investigation alongside. Scripts are marked to the official scheme and each lost half mark explained.

On the investigation, a tutor can help choose a measurable question, plan a repeatable method and understand uncertainty. The report and data remain the student's own.

IGCSE sciences follow the same method with extra attention to the alternative-to-practical paper, which suits a student who has little lab access at home.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Mankachar: your questions answered

Is there an IB or IGCSE tutor in Mankachar?+

Nobody we know of in Mankachar has taught these syllabuses, so tutors teach online: a specialist elsewhere in India, matched to subject, level and board, with a free first lesson. No tutor visits Mankachar homes.

Can I get home tuition in Mankachar for IB or IGCSE?+

Your child learns at home, but the tutor appears on a laptop. In-person tuition is offered only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. In Mankachar you need a laptop, a headset and a reasonably steady connection for each private lesson.

Is there an IB or IGCSE school near Mankachar?+

None that we could confirm in the district. Local schools follow the Assam board or CBSE. The nearest city with a Cambridge-linked school we know of is Guwahati, and Kolkata has the region's best-known IB and IGCSE schools. Please verify any school directly.

Can my child take Cambridge IGCSE from Mankachar as a private candidate?+

Yes, through an approved exam centre, usually in Guwahati or Kolkata. The family arranges the centre and the entry, and a tutor prepares the student. Deadlines are fixed and centre availability changes by year, so ask early.

What decides the price of a tutor?+

Mankachar families see no price list because the quote rests on the course, the level, the tutor's experience and lessons per week. It arrives in writing after the free trial. No travel charge applies, and a short plan on one subject can cost less than a broad one.

Which subjects do Assam students request most?+

Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology lead, followed by Economics and English A. That fits families aiming at engineering and medicine. Bengali B and Environmental Systems and Societies are also asked about.

Will my child's tutor write the Internal Assessment?+

No. For a Mankachar student the tutor's role is to explain the criteria, test whether a topic is feasible and comment on a draft. Writing or supplying content for an IA, Extended Essay, TOK essay or coursework is outside the service, because only the student's own work is acceptable.

My child studies in Assamese or Bengali medium. Is that a problem?+

In Mankachar this is a first-term task, not a barrier. Tutors build a subject glossary, practise command words and show how to write full English answers. Assamese or Bengali can be used to check an idea before the English wording is drilled.

What happens in flood weeks if the power or network fails?+

We reschedule, or move to audio and a shared document if video fails. In the monsoon keep a charged laptop and a phone hotspot ready. A few Mbps is enough for video and a shared board.

Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE: which is available to us?+

The exam centre usually decides, since each candidate sits the board they are entered with. If you can choose, Cambridge has more centres and an October-November series, while Edexcel has a January series.

When is the best moment to begin?+

For a Mankachar Diploma candidate, the start of Class 11 is ideal, or a year earlier for Mathematics where Class 10 is thin. MYP students can start whenever, and Class 12 students can still take an intensive.

    How long are the lessons?+

A Mankachar lesson lasts sixty to ninety minutes, once or twice a week, with extra sessions before exams. Add a few hours of independent practice per subject, which we help fit around the school day and the early Assam sunset.

Can IB be combined with JEE or NEET preparation?+

Yes, with a heavy timetable. IB Mathematics HL and Physics HL share ground with JEE Main, and Biology HL with NEET, so a Mankachar student can reuse some revision. Eligibility rules change, so confirm them with the exam body each year.

    How do we start?+

For a Mankachar student, begin with a WhatsApp message to +91 7439 368 115 or an email to support@ibgram.com naming the programme, subject, level, board and class. A shortlist and a trial time come back, and whether Mankachar's evenings suit a regular slot is for you to judge after the free lesson.

    Can we change the tutor?+

Yes. Tell us after the Mankachar trial or any later class and we propose a tutor with a similar profile, passing on the notes so your child does not begin again.

Is the service you reach from Mankachar linked to the IB, Cambridge or Pearson?+

No. The service you reach from Mankachar is an independent tutoring business. It has no tie to the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge, Pearson or any of the Guwahati and Kolkata schools named on this page, which are included so a Mankachar family can see where the nearest campuses lie.
