IB and IGCSE Tutors and Online Home Tuition in Maner

Maner is known across Bihar for its laddus and its Sufi shrines, not for international-curriculum classrooms, so IB and IGCSE home tuition here has to arrive by screen. IB Gram pairs a Maner student with a private tutor who has already taught the exact subject, and the lessons run live and one-to-one from your own room. No tutor drives out from Patna; home visits happen only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

  • Tutors selected for the exact IB subject and level or IGCSE paper
  • Lessons are online; tutors do not visit homes in Maner, as doorstep tuition runs only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • A free trial lesson before you decide
  • Short written notes after each class

IB & IGCSE in Maner

Where Maner families meet IB and IGCSE tutoring

Maner lies on the southern bank of the Ganga, around twenty-four kilometres west of Patna, close to where the Son joins the river. Its schools are the usual mix of Bihar Board, CBSE and a handful of private English-medium names, and Patna, Danapur and Bihta supply the colleges. We could not confirm any school in Maner or the immediate area that teaches the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE.

So the families who write to us are not shopping among local options; they are solving a particular problem. A parent has been posted to Delhi, Bengaluru or the Gulf and the child will join an IB school. A business family wants a degree abroad for a daughter or son. A teenager has decided on the IGCSE route and needs the syllabus taught properly.

The lesson itself is a video call with a shared board. The tutor sets a question from a past paper, the student writes the steps, and the tutor corrects the first wrong line instead of the last. This is what makes a weekly hour effective: feedback arrives while the thought is still fresh.

Tutors teach from elsewhere in India on Indian Standard Time, and none travels to Maner. IB Gram has no tie to the IB, Cambridge, Pearson or any school, and tutors never write Internal Assessments, Extended Essays or other coursework for a student.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Maner school years

Four IB programmes, four different roles for a tutor in a place like Maner, where none is offered locally and the practical question is how to prepare for a school or country that does.

PYPClass 1-5, ages 6-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Children explore units of inquiry across subjects and finish with an Exhibition they plan themselves. There are no formal exams, so help centres on reading aloud, writing a paragraph that holds together and being comfortable asking why.

A Maner parent asking about PYP often has a transfer to Patna, Delhi or abroad in view and wants the child's English to be ready.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

MYP marks work on four criteria per subject and ends with a Personal Project. Children brought up on short answers from a Bihar Board textbook often need time to adjust to open-ended tasks that ask them to justify choices.

Students from Maner moving into MYP usually need most help with science lab reports and with writing in full paragraphs for Individuals and Societies.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects across three HL and three SL, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Papers fall mostly in May, with internal assessments marked earlier in the course.

A Diploma student with Maner roots is generally enrolled elsewhere or planning to be, so a weekly online hour in Maths or Physics fills real gaps.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

CP blends Diploma courses with a career-related study and a reflective project. Very few Indian schools run it, and its academic courses are as demanding as in the full Diploma.

Bihar families seldom ask about CP; when they do, support goes into the Diploma courses within the student's combination.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Maths alone has two courses and two levels, and the sciences each have their own internal investigation. A shortlist therefore starts from the precise subject on the timetable, with level, before anything about the weekly schedule.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Algebra, calculus, vectors and proof, aimed at students who may study engineering or science, with the exploration chosen early.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Statistics, modelling and calculator use, suited to students leaning toward business, economics or social science.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Mechanics to quantum ideas, with regular practice on unfamiliar data and a method an outsider could repeat.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Atomic structure through to organic synthesis, with data-booklet use drilled until it is automatic.

IB Biology

HL / SL

Cells, genetics, ecology and physiology, with command terms treated as precise instructions.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Diagrams used to explain, then evaluated with a current example, and at HL some quantitative reasoning.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Applying business tools to the case in front of the student, plus an internal project on a real firm.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Close reading of unseen extracts, comparison of set works and a prepared oral.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Systems, algorithms and a documented solution that actually runs.

IB Psychology

HL / SL

Studies recalled accurately and evaluated within a clear argument.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Case studies, data response and a fieldwork investigation.

IB History

HL / SL

Source analysis and structured essays on twentieth-century topics, with a historical investigation.

IB Hindi B

SL / HL

Unseen reading, formal writing and speaking, helpful for students at home in Hindi or Magahi.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

Discussion of knowledge questions and the exhibition, leaving the writing to the student.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

Tier is the first decision, because a Core paper and an Extended paper share one code and little else. After that, preparation counts back from the session the student is entered for: Cambridge in February-March, May-June or October-November, Edexcel in January, May-June or October.

IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core / Extended

Number, algebra, geometry and statistics, with method marks that vanish when working is left out.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Grade 10

Calculus, logarithms and vectors as a bridge to IB Analysis and Approaches.

IGCSE Physics 0625

Core / Extended

Energy, electricity, waves and radioactivity, plus the alternative-to-practical paper.

IGCSE Chemistry 0620

Core / Extended

Reactions, mole calculations, electrolysis and organic chemistry.

IGCSE Biology 0610

Core / Extended

Cells, inheritance, human biology and ecosystems, with extended answers planned for marks.

IGCSE Economics 0455

Grade 9-10

Markets, government and trade, with diagrams and balanced evaluation.

IGCSE Computer Science 0478

Grade 9-10

Data, networks and programming, with trace tables done by hand.

IGCSE Business Studies 0450

Grade 9-10

Business activity, marketing and finance, applied to the case provided.

IGCSE English as a Second Language 0510

Grade 9-10

Reading, writing, listening and speaking across formal and informal registers.

IGCSE Hindi as a Second Language 0549

Grade 9-10

Comprehension, grammar and directed writing, comfortable for Hindi and Magahi speakers.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Maner school timetables

Every option is live, one-to-one and online with an India-based tutor. They differ in rhythm and intensity, not in method. A tutor will not travel to Maner for any of them; in-person tuition is offered only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

Regular weekly lessons

A fixed slot with the same tutor, moving through the syllabus and revisiting trouble spots. This is the format most Maner students begin with.

  • Same tutor across the term
  • Past-paper work in every lesson
  • Written notes afterwards
  • Easy to rearrange around Chhath

Pre-exam intensive

A compact set of lessons ahead of a mock or an exam series, focused on the topics that keep losing marks.

  • Timed questions marked on screen
  • Revision plan agreed first
  • Useful for private candidates
  • Finishes with the exam

Online private tuition from home

For families who search for home tuition: private teaching delivered to the student's own room by video. The tutor does not come to a Maner address, and home visits run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

  • A laptop and a quiet corner suffice
  • Parents welcome at the trial
  • Tutor replaced if the fit is off
  • Rates in writing before booking

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Maner

01

Which IB and IGCSE schools and families are there around Maner and Patna?

Not in Maner itself, as far as we can confirm. The town's schools follow the Bihar Board or CBSE, and Patna's best-known institutions are CBSE or ICSE schools. A family wanting the IB or an IGCSE has to look to Kolkata, Delhi NCR or further, or to home study for a private IGCSE.

Those who ask are often people with a reason. Doctors and officers in Patna posted to other states. Traders and contractors with offices in Delhi or Mumbai. Families with relatives in the Gulf or the UK who expect a child to study there eventually. And teenagers who found out about IB on their own and want to try it.

For each, the tutor is a bridge. A Class 10 student joining an IB school in Class 11 can start Maths and Science a year ahead. A student already in an IB school elsewhere but living with grandparents in Maner for the year can keep a weekly session going without a change of syllabus.

With no local ecosystem, the tutor pool has to be national. Matching is therefore based on syllabus experience and the trial lesson, rather than on distance, and a family in Maner is not disadvantaged.

School offerings change, so confirm any school's programmes with the school itself.

02

How do Bihar Board and CBSE compare with IB and IGCSE?

Bihar Board and CBSE reward accurate recall of prescribed chapters, and the question paper stays close to the textbook. IB and IGCSE reward reasoning in new settings: a graph the student has not seen, a case study with unfamiliar numbers, an essay question that asks to evaluate rather than describe.

That difference explains the common surprise of a strong board student scoring modestly on a first IGCSE paper. The knowledge is there; the command words and the expected depth of explanation are not yet familiar.

Grading differs too. The board reports percentages, IGCSE reports A* to G and the IB Diploma reports a total out of 45. Colleges in India and abroad have their own ways of reading these figures.

None of the systems is easy. A tutor's job is not to reteach everything but to show how a question in the new system is built and what a full-mark answer looks like.

03

What does IB and IGCSE tuition cost for a student in Maner?

  • Programme, level and subject
  • Experience on that specification
  • Lessons per week and their length
  • No travel cost because lessons are online

There is no price list on this page, and a family should be cautious about any site that quotes one without asking what the subject and level are. Rates are given in writing before you book.

The main driver is level and subject: Diploma HL Physics or Maths asks more of a tutor than a Class 6 MYP lesson. The second driver is how often you meet, and for how long.

Tutor experience also matters. A teacher who has taught the syllabus for several years and who marks as an examiner would costs more than a recent graduate, and for an important paper that is often worth it.

Maner families gain something metro families do not: no conveyance, no centre fees. A student who might otherwise travel to Patna for tuition can stay home, and the quoted rate is the whole cost.

04

Is an online tutor better than Patna coaching or self-study for IB?

In most cases yes. Patna has a large coaching economy, concentrated around Kankarbagh and Boring Road, but it is built for JEE, NEET and board exams. It does not teach IB command terms or Cambridge mark schemes.

Self-study with past papers works for a self-driven student, though self-marking is unreliable. An answer that feels complete may earn half the marks, and the same slip repeats across papers.

A local general tutor is convenient but rarely trained in these syllabuses, and travelling to Patna means a long road journey in traffic along NH-922.

An online one-to-one lesson removes the commute and puts a specialist in front of the student. The trade-off is a reliable connection and a quiet hour, which in the rainy season may need a backup plan.

05

When are the exams, and how does the Bihar calendar shape study?

IB papers are mostly in May, with some schools sitting in November. Cambridge IGCSE offers February-March, May-June and October-November. Edexcel offers January, May-June and October. A private candidate registers through an approved exam centre, probably in Patna or another city.

Local conditions come into it. Summers in Patna district are hot and humid, often above forty degrees in May and June, and the monsoon from July to September can raise the Ganga and Son and affect roads and power in low-lying areas.

Bihar's festivals take large chunks of the calendar. Chhath, after Diwali, brings a long family break and travel. Durga Puja, Holi and Eid also cut study time, so revision blocks need to be placed before or after them.

A sensible plan starts the main revision about ten weeks before a paper and keeps the last fortnight for timed practice.

06

Where can a Maner IB or IGCSE student study after school?

  • IIT, NIT and AIIMS Patna via national exams
  • AIU equivalence for the IB Diploma
  • CUET-UG for central universities
  • UK, Canada, Australia and US routes

Bihar's best-known institutions are close to Maner: IIT Patna at Bihta, NIT Patna, AIIMS Patna at Phulwari Sharif, Patna University and the Chanakya National Law University. Entry is through national exams such as JEE, NEET, CUET-UG and CLAT, and rules change, so IB students should read the latest notices.

The Association of Indian Universities issues equivalence for the IB Diploma, which many universities accept. Students should still confirm each institution's own subject requirements and cut-offs.

Abroad, IB and IGCSE are widely understood. The UK uses predicted grades, Canada and Australia have conversion tables, and US colleges consider the Diploma with test scores where required.

A tutor can raise grades in the subjects a target course needs; admission itself can never be promised. The best time to plan is before Class 11 subject choice.

07

How are IB Maths and sciences taught online?

A typical session opens with a question the student could not finish, moves through two similar problems on the shared board, and ends with a timed question marked live. The board is saved for later revision.

Analysis and Approaches suits students who enjoy algebra and calculus and who may aim for engineering. Applications and Interpretation suits those headed to business, economics or the life sciences, with statistics and modelling central.

In the sciences, tutors mix concept work with the skills the internal assessment rewards: controlling variables, handling uncertainty, plotting and concluding. Sample data sets can be shared on screen without equipment.

The aim is to find the half-dozen topics that cost the most marks and give them the most time.

08

Should a Maner student take IGCSE Core or Extended?

Pick Extended if the student wants the whole A* to G scale or plans to carry the subject into IB Higher Level or A Level; pick Core if the aim is a dependable pass and the subject will not be studied further. A school usually enters its students by tier, whereas a private candidate states the choice on the registration form.

Maths decides most things. A boy who sits Extended Maths and Additional Maths in Class 10 arrives at an IB Analysis and Approaches class with calculus already behind him. For a girl who struggles with algebra, a confident Core grade is a better foundation than a shaky Extended attempt.

Think about the destination before ticking subject boxes. Future engineers pair Physics and Chemistry with Maths, would-be doctors lean on Biology and Chemistry, and children from trading families in Maner often prefer Economics, Business Studies and Accounting.

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel qualifications are both recognised widely; the lessons simply follow whichever specification appears on the entry form.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Maner: your questions answered

Is there an IB or IGCSE tutor near Maner?+

We found no verifiable local specialist, so the answer is online. A Maner student is paired with a teacher who has already handled their exact IB or IGCSE course, and the two meet live on video on Indian time. Living in another city does not matter; knowing the specification does.

Do tutors come to my home in Maner?+

No visiting happens in Maner. Doorstep lessons are a Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR arrangement. What a Maner family receives is private tuition for a student at home, taught over video, with both sides drawing on the same digital board.

How much does IB or IGCSE tuition cost?+

Four things set the figure: the programme, the level, the subject and how experienced the tutor is. A Higher Level Diploma class and a Class 7 MYP class are not priced alike. You see the number in writing before agreeing, and because lessons are online there is no petrol or bus fare added on.

Which schools near Maner teach IB or IGCSE?+

We could not confirm any. Schools in Maner and Patna follow the Bihar Board, CBSE or ICSE. Families who want an international syllabus usually consider Kolkata, Delhi NCR or boarding schools elsewhere, and use online tutoring to prepare for the change.

Can my child take IGCSE as a private candidate from Patna district?+

It is possible. Candidates sit the papers at an authorised Cambridge or Pearson centre, probably in Patna or Kolkata, while the course itself can be taught entirely over video. Entry cut-off dates fall well before each series, so call the centre first, ask about fees and book a seat early.

    Is the first lesson free?+

Yes, and it is a proper lesson rather than a sales call. Your child works on a topic that is giving trouble while you watch how the tutor explains it. If the style does not suit, we suggest someone else; nothing is charged for the trial.

Will the tutor write the Internal Assessment or Extended Essay?+

No tutor writes graded work. What they do is decode the assessment criteria, talk through a research question until it is workable, sanity-check a method, and read a draft the student produced. IAs, Extended Essays and TOK essays have to remain the candidate's own words and thinking.

Which IB subjects can be tutored?+

The Diploma list runs from both Maths courses and the three sciences through Economics, Business, English A, Computer Science, Psychology, Geography and History to Hindi B and Theory of Knowledge. Younger students can have MYP and PYP help, and IGCSE covers Maths, sciences, Economics, Business and English.

What if the internet drops during the rainy season?+

Have a phone hotspot ready and keep the laptop charged before every class. Heavy rain near the river sometimes takes out power or signal for a few hours. A class cut short is made up later, and the tutor still sends notes on the part that happened.

Can a Bihar Board student switch to IB or IGCSE?+

Many do. Content is rarely the obstacle; the shock is in how questions are worded and how long an answer must be. Early sessions therefore look at words such as justify and evaluate, then at a handful of past questions, so the new style feels familiar by the first real term.

    When should we start?+

Ideally at the very start, which means Class 9 for IGCSE and Class 11 for the Diploma, because early weeks are when gaps are cheapest to close. Joining later is still worthwhile. Even a focused block of six to eight weeks ahead of one paper can tighten technique.

What time slots work in Maner?+

Weekday evenings and weekend mornings suit most students. In May and June, sessions move earlier or later to avoid the heat. Around Chhath, Durga Puja and Eid, slots are agreed in advance so revision is not lost.

How will I know my child is progressing?+

A short written note follows each session, listing the topic, strengths and tasks. A fuller review every few weeks compares progress with the target grade. Parents may also sit in on the trial lesson.

What if the tutor is not a good fit?+

Tell us and a replacement is found, with no fee and no fuss. Pace, accent or teaching style can simply not click. Because nobody signs up for a fixed term, a family can also pause for exams or festivals and restart later.

Is IB Gram connected to any school or examining body?+

Not in any way. IB Gram stands apart from the IB, Cambridge, Pearson and all schools, so mentions of them describe facts and carry no endorsement. To ask for a trial, email support@ibgram.com or send a WhatsApp message to +91 7439 368 115.
