IB and IGCSE Tutors and Online Home Tuition in Maddur

Maddur lies midway on the Bengaluru to Mysuru highway: near enough to the international schools of the metro to tempt a family, yet too far for a daily journey. IB or IGCSE home tuition here is delivered online, because tutors do not visit houses in Maddur and in-person lessons are confined to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. A private teacher who has handled the exact syllabus joins your child's desk by video.

  • Private video lessons at home with a tutor who has taught your exact IB or IGCSE syllabus
  • Nobody visits Maddur homes; in-person lessons exist solely in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • A free first class and a written note after every lesson
  • Independent of the IB, Cambridge, Pearson and every school named here

IB & IGCSE in Maddur

Why Maddur families ask about the IB and IGCSE

Maddur is a taluk town of about 29,000 on the banks of the Shimsha, 82 kilometres from Bengaluru and 60 from Mysuru. It is known for the crisp Maddur vada that highway travellers stop for, for sending trucks of tender coconut to other states, and for the Shivapura Satyagraha Soudha beside the road. Its schools follow the Karnataka state syllabus and CBSE.

Bengaluru has one of the densest clusters of IB and IGCSE schools in India, and families in Maddur can see the Bengaluru skyline in their imagination even if not from the window. A parent who works in the metro, or whose business sells there, may want a child on an international curriculum. The catch is the road: 82 kilometres is a boarding decision, not a school run.

We therefore see three kinds of enquiry. Families whose child has already been admitted to a Bengaluru or Mysuru school and needs a tutor at home in the evenings and at weekends. Families who plan to move within a year and want the child ready. And families considering an online international school. All need a tutor who knows the syllabus, which a local generalist usually does not.

Teaching is online, by a specialist who may live in any Indian city. Mandya district gets no house visits, which are offered only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. Tutors coach and mark, yet they never write Internal Assessments, Extended Essays, TOK essays or coursework.

At a glance

  • All four IB programmes, taught by tutors chosen for subject and level
  • Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE at every tier
  • Individual live lessons at home, on IST
  • Free trial, then a written plan and rate
  • Maddur has no home visits; Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR are the only places with them
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Maddur school years

Because the highway puts Maddur within reach of Bengaluru's schools but not within daily commuting range, the stage a child is at tends to follow where they are enrolled. Here is what each IB stage asks.

PYPClass Nursery to 5, ages 3-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Young children study through six themes and finish with an Exhibition of their own. Because no external exam exists, a tutor concentrates on fluent reading, number sense and giving a child the nerve to question.

Maddur parents asking about PYP are normally thinking of a move to Bengaluru's outskirts before Class 1 or 4.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Subjects are marked against criteria, global contexts tie topics to wider issues, and a Personal Project completes the stage. The usual snag is writing that shows understanding in the criterion's terms.

Kannada-medium children entering MYP need to build English academic writing and criterion thinking at the same time.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

A two-year course of six subjects, with TOK, the Extended Essay and CAS as the core. Final grades combine papers in May or November with internal work done across two years.

A Maddur DP student is enrolled in a school elsewhere or online, and wants tutoring in Maths, sciences or English at the pace of that school.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

Diploma courses are paired with a career-related study and a reflective project. Few Indian schools run it, though its academic parts need exam-focused teaching.

Requests from this area are very rare; if one comes, only the Diploma-level subjects are tutored.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Karnataka state-board and CBSE papers pay for complete, correct answers in a familiar format. IB and IGCSE papers pay for the answer that follows the command verb and copes with an unfamiliar setting. A Maddur student spends the opening sessions reading mark schemes with the tutor, and pairing is by syllabus code and not only by subject name.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Calculus, algebra and proof. Karnataka CET-style speed helps; the extra demand is written justification of every step.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Statistics, modelling and technology. Coconut prices, sugarcane yields or highway traffic counts could seed a lively Exploration.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Mechanics, waves, fields and thermal physics, with quantum topics at HL. Marks leak through units and uncertainty.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Atomic structure to organic synthesis. Equilibrium and energetics need steady practice.

IB Biology

HL / SL

A big syllabus where exact wording earns credit; ecology can draw on Kokkarebellur's pelicans and the Shimsha riverbank.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Diagrams, data and evaluation, with agricultural markets, tender-coconut trade and highway commerce as local cases.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Case-based study of marketing, finance, operations and people; roadside food businesses make surprisingly good examples.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Analysis of unseen texts, a comparative essay and an oral. Kannada speakers benefit from formal English writing practice.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Algorithms, data structures and networks, a natural fit for children of Bengaluru IT workers.

IB Psychology

HL / SL

Key studies recalled and evaluated under timed conditions.

IB Environmental Systems & Societies

SL

Water use, biodiversity and agriculture, with the Cauvery basin and wetland birds as close examples.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Natural resources, population and hazards, tested through data-response questions and extended writing.

IB History

HL / SL

Source analysis and argument; the 1938 Shivapura flag satyagraha is a local story of the freedom movement.

IB Kannada B

HL / SL

Where a school offers it, a scoring language for Kannada speakers; confirm tutor availability early.

IB Hindi B

HL / SL

Reading, writing in set forms and the oral exam, helpful where a family expects a move outside Karnataka.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

Taking a stance on a set title and testing it against counterexamples. The student writes; the tutor questions.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

Cambridge and Pearson run separate IGCSEs with their own codes, tiers and exam dates. Which one a Maddur student faces is settled before a single paper is picked.

IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core / Extended

Extended papers punish skipped working. Lessons drill algebra, geometry and the non-calculator paper.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Grade 9-10

Calculus and vectors early, a good bridge to IB Maths AA.

Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics A 4MA1

Foundation / Higher

Edexcel phrases and sequences its questions differently, so we practise on its own papers.

IGCSE Physics 0625

Core / Extended

Rearranging formulae, reading graphs and the alternative-to-practical question.

IGCSE Chemistry 0620

Core / Extended

Mole calculations, metal reactivity, electrolysis and the start of organic chemistry.

IGCSE Biology 0610

Core / Extended

Cells, inheritance, body systems and ecology, plus how to build a long answer.

IGCSE Computer Science 0478

Grade 9-10

Pseudocode, logic gates and Python on unseen problems.

IGCSE Economics 0455

Grade 9-10

Markets, the role of government and trade, practised through data-response questions.

IGCSE English as a Second Language 0510

Grade 9-10

Reading, writing, listening and speaking for students who are still building fluency.

IGCSE English First Language 0500

Grade 9-10

Descriptive, argumentative and summary writing aimed at confident writers.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Maddur school timetables

A Maddur student learns in one format: a private tutor on video, at home. The pace and the exam focus vary.

One fixed class a week

An evening slot fixed after the school run or a long commute home, with a shared whiteboard and the student's own attempted papers displayed on screen.

  • The same tutor all year
  • Papers and mark schemes shared live
  • Any IB programme or IGCSE tier
  • A short note after each class

Weekend support for a Bengaluru boarder

Classes timed for a child who boards in Bengaluru and comes home to Maddur on weekends or holidays, closing gaps and previewing the next unit.

  • Gap check in the first session
  • Weekend and holiday slots
  • Preview of upcoming units
  • Pauses for Ugadi and Dasara

Mock and exam sprint

Closely spaced sessions in the weeks before mocks and the main exam series, using timed work and quick marking, planned around the festival fortnights.

  • Marked to official criteria
  • Gap list after each paper
  • Reserve two to three weeks early
  • Festival-aware dates

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Maddur

01

Can a Maddur child attend a Bengaluru IB or IGCSE school day to day?

  • Daily commuting to Bengaluru is not practical for a school child
  • Boarding, relocation and online schools are the usual routes
  • No IB or IGCSE school confirmed in Maddur
  • Check any school on the official IB or Cambridge pages

Not realistically. Eighty-two kilometres on a highway that carries heavy lorry and Dasara traffic is a three-hour round trip on a good day, and the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway makes it quicker but does not make daily commuting sensible for a child. Schools such as Indus International, Bangalore International School, Greenwood High and Inventure Academy are therefore boarding or relocation decisions for a Maddur family.

Some families bridge the gap by renting a flat in Bengaluru's western suburbs during the school year, with one parent staying, while the other keeps the Maddur home. Others board a child from Class 6 or Class 11. Both cost real money and need planning a year ahead.

A third group keeps the child in Maddur and uses an authorised online international school. It suits a motivated student with a dependable connection and a supervised study corner, and it does not replace the social side of a physical school.

Whatever the choice, first check the school's authorisation on the IB or Cambridge website. The tutor then works to the scheme of work the school sets.

02

How does the Karnataka state syllabus compare with the IB and IGCSE?

  • Recall versus reasoning
  • Exam English takes a long time to settle
  • Long coursework needs planning
  • CET-trained Maths speed carries over

The Karnataka SSLC and PUC systems, like CBSE, reward a student who has covered every chapter and can set the content down accurately. IB and IGCSE ask what you can do with that knowledge in a case the textbook did not print. A student who recites a definition may lose most of the marks when a question wraps it in an unfamiliar scenario.

Kannada-medium children face a language layer. They know the subject in Kannada terms, while IB and IGCSE papers demand the same reasoning in English with exam vocabulary. That takes months to build, so a year's head start is wise.

Coursework weighs differently too. Over two years an IB student completes investigations and an Extended Essay, and several IGCSE subjects include coursework or practical papers. Someone used to a single PUC board exam has to be taught planning and drafting.

On the plus side, Karnataka students are often strong in Maths and Physics from CET preparation, and Bengaluru's tech culture rubs off on children in Maddur too. These strengths carry over.

03

What do IB and IGCSE tutors charge in Maddur, and why?

  • Level, tutor availability, class length and frequency
  • No travel element
  • Written quote once the trial ends
  • Pause or stop whenever you like

There is no one rate. A quote follows the course level, how scarce good tutors are for it, how long each class runs and how many you take. An HL Diploma science is dearer than an IGCSE Core subject, because fewer people have taught it recently.

Distance is not a factor. A tutor in Chennai or Pune charges a Maddur family the same as anyone, and nobody pays for the Mysuru road.

We do not post prices, because a figure without a course attached would mislead. Once your child has had the free trial, the tutor, timetable and rate come in writing, and you can decline.

Compare tutors by what an hour produces. Pre-marked work followed by a class on the three costliest topics beats a wide tour of the syllabus.

04

Is online home tuition better than Mandya coaching, local tutors or self-study for the IB?

  • Coaching serves board and entrance exams
  • Local tutors suit state-board subjects
  • Self-study lacks feedback
  • Online specialists combine syllabus and attention

For these syllabi, mostly yes. Coaching in Maddur and Mandya is built around SSLC and PUC results, CET, NEET and JEE, and it is serious work, but no batch there covers IB Chemistry HL or IGCSE Economics.

Local tutors are excellent for state-board subjects and younger children. On an IB or IGCSE syllabus they would learn the papers alongside the student, which is a gamble in an exam year.

A disciplined student can get far alone with a syllabus and past papers. The weakness is that nobody reads the work, so a graph without error bars, or an essay answering the wrong command word, goes unnoticed.

Live online tutoring gives syllabus knowledge and personal attention together. Bengaluru's fibre network has largely reached the corridor, but check the signal at lesson time.

How do Ugadi, Dasara and the monsoon shape a Maddur study year?

  • Ugadi falls just before May papers
  • Dasara traffic does not affect online lessons, but guests do
  • Storm outages need a backup plan
  • Confirm exam dates with the school

Ugadi in March or April is the Kannada new year, and it falls in the final weeks before the May papers. Mysuru's Dasara in September or October draws visitors in large numbers, and the highway at Maddur slows to a crawl on peak days. Ganesha Chaturthi in between fills homes with guests.

Weather is mild by Indian standards. The plateau keeps summers around 35 degrees, with a pleasant winter, and rain arrives with both monsoons, strongest in the south-west monsoon months. Storm outages are the main hazard to online lessons.

Festival days are good reasons to pause. School year timing also matters: many Bengaluru IB schools start in June or August, and Karnataka's own academic year starts in late May or June.

Exam series set the outline: IB in May and November, Cambridge IGCSE in May-June and October-November, Edexcel in January and May-June. The calmest window for mocks tends to be January to March.

Where does an IB or IGCSE student from Maddur go next?

  • AIU equivalence supports Indian admissions
  • JEE, NEET, CET and CUET have separate rules
  • State seat rules depend on where a candidate studied
  • Always read the official notification

Within India, the Association of Indian Universities treats the IB Diploma as equal to Class 12. Maddur students look at Bangalore University, UVCE, RV, PES, Christ, Mysore University and the IISc undergraduate programme, plus institutions in Chennai, Pune and Delhi. Central universities admit through CUET-UG.

Engineering and medicine are gated by national tests. JEE and NEET-UG publish rules for international-board candidates, and the subjects picked at sixteen need to satisfy them. Karnataka CET seats have separate eligibility conditions depending on where the candidate studied, so ask the admitting body.

Abroad, the Diploma, or IGCSE followed by A Levels, leads to the UK, Canada, Australia, the US and Singapore. Since Bengaluru has strong global technology links, the US and Canada appeal to families in the area.

Whichever route a student takes, the Higher Level subjects should match the degree sought. A tutor can help weigh them, though the notice from the admitting body decides.

07

What does a typical week look like for a Maddur student on an IB or IGCSE course?

  • Fixed day and time beats irregular bursts
  • Short practice between classes
  • A written note keeps parents informed
  • Intensity rises near exams, not all year

Take a Class 11 student enrolled in an online IB school while living in Maddur. Mornings go to the school's own live classes; late afternoon is for homework and for the tutor's one-hour session on the subject that is hardest, say Chemistry. Weekends carry a second, shorter session in the week before an assessment.

A boarding student at a Bengaluru school looks different. Term-time weeks are managed by the school; the tutor sees the child on Saturday or Sunday evenings after the bus home, and in holidays two or three times a week.

A Grade 9 IGCSE candidate usually needs less time per week: one class a week in Maths, with a second in a science when mocks approach. The tutor sets short practice sets between sessions, marked at the next class.

The common thread is regularity. A fixed day and time, with a short note after each class, beats a flurry of sessions before every test.

Sample weekly rhythms for Maddur students

Class 12 in exam termThree to four classes weekly for several weeksFull timed papers, reviewed in class
08

How should a Maddur student choose IGCSE subjects and tiers?

  • Typically five to nine subjects
  • Upper tiers open the top grades
  • Computer Science and Economics connect to local life
  • Pick the English paper by writing confidence

A student usually sits five to nine IGCSE subjects, always with English, Maths and a science, plus a language or a humanities option. Each subject has a tier with a higher ceiling and one with a lower: Extended and Core at Cambridge, Higher and Foundation at Edexcel. Only the higher tier reaches the top grades.

A child who imagines IB Maths or HL sciences ahead should take the higher tier and think about Additional Mathematics. Those aiming for science A Levels fare better studying the three sciences separately, if the school allows.

Computer Science suits children from households tied to Bengaluru's technology sector, while Economics fits a town that lives from farming and road trade. English as a Second Language supports students who are still gaining fluency.

Before lesson one we confirm board, subject code, tier and sitting, so each practice paper is relevant.

Where we tutor

Around Maddur: where our online students log in from

The lesson does not change with the address, but the day does. These are the parts of Maddur and the corridor around it that our students come from.

Maddur town centre

The taluk headquarters on the Shimsha, with the bus stand, the market and the roadside food stalls that made its name.

Highway-side colonies

Housing along the Bengaluru to Mysuru road, where long-distance work commutes shape the household timetable.

Shivapura

The village with the Satyagraha Soudha beside the highway, a short ride from the town.

Kokkarebellur

A bird sanctuary village about 12 kilometres from Maddur, home to painted storks and pelicans.

Ugra Narasimha temple area

The old temple quarter with a Hoysala-period image, busy on festival days.

Channapatna

The toy-town on the Bengaluru side, known for lacquerware, and a common stop for families commuting to the city.

Ramanagara

A hill-and-silk district town on the road to Bengaluru, with a bigger school sector.

Mandya city

The district headquarters, a sugar and rice-belt city with colleges and hospitals.

Mysuru

The palace city 60 kilometres away, with universities, hospitals and a Dasara season that fills the highway.

Bidadi

The industrial township near Bengaluru, relevant for families whose work is on the metro's southern edge.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Maddur

Maddur itself

Schools in the town are Karnataka state-board or CBSE; none is known to us for IB or IGCSE, so local choice is limited.

    Nearby: Bengaluru, south and west

About 82 kilometres away, with the densest cluster of IB schools in the south; most families treat these as boarding or relocation choices.

    • Indus International School, Bengaluru
    • Bangalore International School
    • Greenwood High International School

    Nearby: Bengaluru, IGCSE and IB

A school that offers both Cambridge IGCSE and the IB Diploma, for children who want a two-stage route.

    • Inventure Academy, Bengaluru

    Nearby: Mysuru

Sixty kilometres away, with many CBSE and state-board schools but no IB or IGCSE school we can verify.

As far as we know, no school in Maddur offers the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE. The schools below are in Bengaluru and appear only to show what is within reach along the corridor; none has an agreement with IB Gram. They, the IB, Cambridge and Pearson have not endorsed anything on this page.

      Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Maddur: your questions answered

Are there IB tutors in Maddur?+

Not within the town. IB Gram tutors are spread across India, and a child in Maddur meets one on a laptop. The deciding factor is experience with your syllabus, level and sitting, not where the tutor lives.

Will a tutor visit my house in Maddur?+

House visits are made only in Gurugram and a few Delhi NCR districts, so not in Maddur. Here your child sits at a desk at home and the tutor appears on screen, giving focused individual time without any travel.

What does IB or IGCSE tuition cost in Maddur?+

Each arrangement is priced separately, depending on how advanced the course is, the subject, the number and length of classes and how recently the tutor taught that syllabus. There is no public tariff; a written figure comes after the free trial.

Is there an IB or IGCSE school in Maddur or Mandya?+

We know of none. Local schools run the Karnataka state syllabus or CBSE. Parents wanting IB generally look at Bengaluru, at a boarding school elsewhere, or at an authorised online school.

Could my child join a Bengaluru IB school and still live in Maddur?+

Only with a very long daily journey, which we do not recommend for a school child. Most families board, rent a flat in Bengaluru or choose an online school. Whichever you pick, a tutor can support the syllabus from Maddur.

My child studies in Kannada medium. Can they cope with IB or IGCSE?+

Usually yes, and starting about twelve months ahead makes it smoother. Almost all IB and IGCSE papers are in English, so early lessons build exam vocabulary and the habit of explaining in writing; most of what the child already knows transfers.

What equipment is needed for online lessons?+

You need a laptop, a headset with a microphone, steady internet and a quiet corner. A spare phone hotspot, and a small inverter for the router, help when storms cause outages.

Which IB subjects are most requested from Maddur?+

Maths in both forms, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science lead, with Economics and English A next. Families linked to Bengaluru IT often ask for Computer Science and Maths.

Do you teach MYP and PYP students?+

Yes to both. Middle-years students practise answers that meet each criterion and pace the Personal Project; primary pupils have short, frequent sessions of story reading, quick sums and research for the Exhibition.

Does the tutor complete my child's Internal Assessment?+

No. Explaining what a criterion rewards and responding to a draft is within the job, but supplying sentences, data or conclusions counts as cheating under IB and Cambridge rules, and our tutors refuse.

Which exam sittings can you prepare for?+

It depends on which sitting your child has booked. We work back from the paper date and try to fit one full timed mock about two months before, leaving time to repair whatever it exposes.

Can my child sit IGCSE privately from Maddur?+

Only through a registered Cambridge or Pearson centre that takes private entrants, most likely in Bengaluru, which means travelling for each paper. The centre registers the child; our part is the teaching.

When is the best time to start tutoring?+

Shortly after the course begins, which means early Class 11 for the Diploma or Grade 9 for IGCSE. Joining midway is common as well, and then we skip the slow first pass and go to the topics worth the most marks.

What if the tutor is not right for my child?+

Tell us as soon as you notice. We introduce another tutor, and as no long contract ties you, you can also pause whenever the term gets heavy.

Can lessons avoid Ugadi and Dasara?+

Yes. Give us the dates at sign-up and lessons are moved around them, so festival weeks stay free.

Is IB Gram connected to any school or exam board?+

There is no link. We are a private tutoring service, and the boards and schools mentioned here have not endorsed or contracted us.

      How do I begin?+

Email support@ibgram.com or message +91 7439 368 115 on WhatsApp with the course, subject, level and paper date. A proposed tutor and some trial times come back to you.
