IB and IGCSE Tutors and Online Home Tuition in Lar

A parent in Lar looking for home tuition in an IB or IGCSE subject will not find a local teacher of it, so the class arrives on a screen instead. IB Gram sets a tutor who has already taught your child's exact syllabus to work live and alone with the student, and sends the family a short report after each session.

  • A tutor who has taught the precise IB or IGCSE course your child follows
  • Only live video; no tutor travels to a Lar home

IB & IGCSE in Lar

How IB and IGCSE home tuition works for families in Lar

Lar is a nagar panchayat and block headquarters in Salempur tehsil of Deoria district, about forty-five kilometres south of Deoria city and a few kilometres from Lar Road railway station. Roughly twenty-five thousand people lived here at the 2011 census. Bhojpuri is the everyday language, Hindi the language of school, and the old bazaar still recalls the days when the area belonged to the Majhauli Raj. Most pupils attend UP Board or CBSE institutions, including long-established inter colleges, and we could not confirm any school here that teaches the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE syllabus.

A family in Lar who wants one of those courses is therefore studying remotely or relocating. We serve the first group. A tutor logs in from another Indian city, the student sits at home with a laptop and the two share a whiteboard. Nobody visits Lar in person; our in-person tuition operates only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, and we would rather you heard that now than after a call.

The people who write to us from this corner of Purvanchal are often families with a member working in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru or the Gulf, parents who have returned to look after land or a family business, and households that see a Cambridge or IB certificate as an early step towards a foreign university. Sometimes it is simply a child who began an international course in a city school and cannot be allowed to fall behind after a move home.

IB Gram works independently of the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge, Pearson and every school named here. Our tutors teach and coach; an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge essay or coursework is never written for a student.

At a glance

  • Live, private classes in IB PYP, MYP and Diploma and in Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE
  • Everything is online; in-person visits exist only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • A short written report after every class
  • A new tutor on request if the first does not suit
  • The fee is stated in writing before you commit
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Lar school years

In eastern Uttar Pradesh an international programme is nearly always a plan carried over from another city. This is how each IB stage looks when a tutor, not a classroom, delivers it in Lar.

PYPAges 3-12, Nursery to Class 5

IB Primary Years Programme

Children learn through inquiry units on big ideas and present a final Exhibition. A tutor builds early reading, arithmetic and the confidence to ask questions.

PYP enquiries from Lar usually concern a child who started the programme elsewhere and now lives with grandparents or on a family farm.

MYPAges 11-16, Class 6 to 10

IB Middle Years Programme

Each subject is judged on published criteria and the course ends with a Personal Project. Pupils are taught to explain how they reached an answer.

With no MYP classroom within reach, the tutor interprets each criterion and demonstrates what a strong response contains.

DPAges 16-19, Class 11 and 12

IB Diploma Programme

Three Higher Level and three Standard Level courses plus the Extended Essay, TOK and CAS. Exams and internal assessment together produce the final score.

Families in Deoria district who ask about the Diploma typically have medicine, engineering, civil services or study abroad in mind, which puts the sciences and Mathematics first.

CPAges 16-19, Class 11 and 12

IB Career-related Programme

A few Diploma courses are paired with a career-related study and a reflective project, designed for students who prefer an applied route.

We know of no school anywhere near Lar offering the Career-related Programme, so support here covers its academic courses only.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Tell us the exact course, level and exam session. Applications and Interpretation SL and Analysis and Approaches HL are different animals, and the tutor is chosen for the one your child sits.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Algebra, functions, calculus and proof worked in blocks, with timed papers between them and the Exploration topic picked early.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Statistics, modelling and calculator technique taught together because the papers revolve around data.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Mechanics, waves, fields and quantum ideas practised numerically, with graph and uncertainty drills.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Moles, energetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms repeated in short tests, with strict attention to units.

IB Biology

HL / SL

Genetics, ecology and physiology with exact vocabulary; the Gandak-Ghaghara wetlands offer good ecology examples.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Diagrams with a clear explanatory sentence under each; sugarcane, rice and migrant remittances make familiar cases.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Reading a case quickly and choosing the right tool; trading families will recognise many scenarios.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Close reading, timed essay planning and the oral commentary, each on its own practice track.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Algorithms, data structures and network ideas written in the exam's pseudocode, ahead of the project.

IB Psychology

HL / SL

Key studies and their criticisms turned into structured extended answers.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Case studies with real data; flood management on the Ghaghara and Gandak is a strong regional example.

IB History

HL / SL

Source analysis and argued essays, with Indian independence and the freedom movement in the Gorakhpur region as context.

IB Hindi B

HL / SL

Comprehension, formal writing and speaking for the exam, building on a strong home language.

IB Environmental Systems & Societies

SL

Water, soil and flood-plain topics map neatly onto the Terai-edge landscape of Deoria.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

Knowledge questions discussed with a tutor; the essay and exhibition are then produced by the student alone.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Lar school timetables

Three arrangements cover most Lar families. The class is always a private live video session; the reason and rhythm are what vary.

One fixed class each week

One tutor on one weekday, taking the specification in sequence, with homework corrected before the next lesson.

  • Works for IB, IGCSE and MYP subjects
  • A shared digital board during the class
  • Homework photographed and returned with comments
  • A steady relationship with one teacher

International course alongside a UP Board school

For a pupil enrolled in a local school who follows an IB or IGCSE course in the evenings or at weekends.

  • Avoids school half-yearly and annual exam weeks
  • Teaches only the international syllabus
  • A monthly summary for parents
  • Preparation for a later boarding or city move

Concentrated exam-time block

A tight run of sessions built on timed papers, corrections and a second attempt at the weakest topics.

  • Papers marked to official schemes
  • Repeated errors recorded and retested
  • Starts four to six weeks before the paper
  • Scheduled round Chhath and Dussehra

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Lar

01

Is there an IB or IGCSE school in Lar?

  • No confirmed IB or IGCSE school in Lar or Salempur tehsil
  • UP Board and CBSE dominate; inter colleges are strong
  • International interest comes from migration and study-abroad plans
  • Check the IB and Cambridge directories for new approvals

We could not confirm one in Lar or elsewhere in Salempur tehsil. What exists is a dense layer of UP Board and CBSE schooling: inter colleges with long histories, such as O.K.M. Inter College, private English-medium schools, and a culture of coaching aimed at the Class 10 and 12 board exams, civil services and the engineering and medical entrance tests.

Education in this part of Purvanchal has always travelled. Young people go to Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Allahabad, Lucknow and Delhi for college, and many families have members in Mumbai, Surat or the Gulf. When a household decides on an international curriculum, it is usually because of this movement rather than because a local school offers it.

That is why online tuition suits Lar. A child can stay with grandparents or on the family land while studying the same syllabus a cousin follows in a city school. The tutor adjusts the pace, and the child keeps the benefits of home.

If anyone tells you a nearby school has just begun an IB or Cambridge programme, ask for its authorisation number and look it up in the official directories before paying.

02

UP Board, CBSE, IB and IGCSE: which suits which child?

Four routes are open in principle, but only the first two are on the doorstep. The UP Board is taught in Hindi and English media, and its Class 10 and 12 papers are the norm for most schools around Lar. CBSE is available in some private schools and aligns with JEE, NEET and CUET. IB and IGCSE are available online but need planning for Indian entrance exams.

The most useful way to compare them is to ask what a paper rewards. UP Board papers reward accurate recall of the prescribed text. CBSE adds application. IGCSE and IB give the pupil unfamiliar material and ask for reasoning in full sentences, and the IB Diploma adds a long essay, a theory-of-knowledge course and service activity.

Nobody should feel pressed to leave the UP Board. For many Lar students it remains the shortest path to Indian medical, engineering and civil-service goals. An international course makes more sense when a family expects to move, when study abroad is serious or when a child does better by explaining than by memorising.

03

What decides the cost of IB or IGCSE tuition at home in Lar?

  • Level, subject, tutor and frequency set the rate
  • A written quote precedes any payment
  • First lesson free
  • No travel costs

We do not print a rate card, because it would be wrong for most families. The free first lesson comes first, and a written quote follows once the subject, level and weekly need are clear.

Four matters shape the figure. First, the level, since Higher Level sciences and Additional Mathematics draw on a small pool of seasoned tutors. Second, the tutor's record with your child's specification. Third, the rhythm, because a year of weekly classes costs differently from a six-week exam push. Fourth, the length of the booking.

Families in Lar also skip costs that never show on a bill: no train fare to Gorakhpur for a class, no day lost in the flood-season detours and no extra payment to a teacher willing to come to a small town. A laptop, a stable connection and a quiet table are the only requirements.

A careful family can start with one class a week in the hardest subject and widen the plan only if it helps.

04

Online home tuition, a coaching class or a local tutor in Lar?

Coaching in Salempur, Deoria and Gorakhpur is strong, but it is built for the UP Board, civil services and national entrance tests. Few teachers there have worked with IB command terms or Cambridge and Edexcel mark schemes, and a crowded batch cannot slow down for one child.

A local private tutor may be dedicated and affordable, though rarely has marked an IGCSE script. An IB Gram tutor has taught the course before and goes through real past papers alongside the student on a shared screen, with the class taking place at home.

The weaknesses are real. The student must be self-disciplined, and the connection must hold. Rural power cuts and monsoon storms can interrupt a class, so we agree a fallback beforehand: a phone hotspot, a moved slot or a recording of the board.

Many families mix approaches: online tuition for Mathematics and the sciences, a local tutor for Hindi, self-study for the rest.

05

How do floods, fog and festivals shape the year in Lar?

Eastern Uttar Pradesh has a strongly seasonal calendar. The monsoon from July to September brings heavy rain, and rivers such as the Ghaghara and the Chhoti Gandak can flood low-lying villages in Deoria district, closing roads and sometimes schools. December and January bring dense fog and cold, and summer from April to June is very hot.

The exam windows have to be laid over that pattern. The IB Diploma is written in May with results in early July. Cambridge IGCSE has February-March, May-June and October-November windows, and Edexcel IGCSE has January, May-June and October-November. Private candidates in Lar enter through an authorised centre, usually in Lucknow, Kolkata or Delhi, months beforehand.

Festivals add their own gaps: Chhath in the autumn, the long Dussehra and Diwali run, Holi in March, and Eid and Muharram for Muslim households. Wheat harvest in April keeps farming families busy.

We therefore keep spare slots in flood and fog months and place mock papers away from festivals. For a May paper we count back: syllabus done by January, past papers in March and April, light revision in the last fortnight.

Which universities can IB and IGCSE students from Lar reach?

  • IB Diploma: AIU equivalence, CUET-UG, direct entry abroad
  • IGCSE: bridge to Class 11, A Level or Diploma
  • NEET and JEE: verify subject rules every year
  • Prepare a university shortlist by Year 12

Students from Deoria district have a good spread of options. Within reach are Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology in Gorakhpur and the universities of Lucknow and Prayagraj. Private universities in Uttar Pradesh and elsewhere accept international certificates under their own rules.

Overseas, admissions offices in Britain, Canada, Australia, the United States and Europe are used to Diploma results. Within India, the Association of Indian Universities may accept the Diploma as matching Class 12 once its conditions are met, and central universities that use CUET-UG look at IB applicants against each course's list of required subjects.

Seats in Indian medical and engineering colleges come with narrower conditions. NEET-UG and JEE Main each list the subjects they accept, which means an IB student must check that Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics appear among the six chosen. After IGCSE, pupils move on to Class 11 in any board, the IB Diploma or A Levels.

Advice on subject choice and predicted grades is part of the job; drafting a personal statement is not.

07

How are IB Maths and the sciences taught over video?

Mathematics is where most conversations start. Analysis and Approaches suits pupils who enjoy manipulating algebra, calculus and proof and who lean towards engineering. Applications and Interpretation suits those drawn to business, economics or biology because it works from data and technology. Higher Level adds several hours of home practice each week.

The Mathematics internal assessment is the Exploration. A tutor can help find a topic that is achievable and read the criteria with the pupil, then listen to the pupil explain the idea; the report and calculations remain the pupil's.

Science lessons use a shared board for most of the syllabus. The Individual Investigation hinges on a well-designed experiment, and when a laboratory is hard to reach, a tutor can still help refine the research question, handle uncertainty and structure the report on screen.

Examiners see the same errors every year. Chemistry candidates stumble on organic pathways and shifts in equilibrium, physicists drop units and misplot graphs, and biologists write definitions that are almost but not quite right. A class tackles one such habit at a time.

08

Choosing IGCSE tiers and subjects from Lar

Several Cambridge subjects are examined at Core or Extended level, and Edexcel's equivalents are Foundation and Higher. Sitting the easier paper puts a ceiling on the grade. For a pupil with A Level sciences, the Diploma or a selective degree in sight, the demanding paper is the right target from the first term.

A sensible bundle for a future engineer is Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science and English. A future doctor adds Biology and a commerce-minded pupil picks Business Studies and Economics. Five to eight subjects is normal.

Squeezing IGCSE into the hours after a UP Board school day works for some pupils, with private entry for the papers. The strain is real, so a Class 8 or 9 start beats a Class 10 scramble, and a term-end diagnostic paper tells us whether to aim for the higher tier.

09

What happens between the first message and the first class?

The first step is a message giving the class, board, subject and exam date. A tutor is proposed and a free trial arranged, during which the child attempts a real topic and a parent can sit in.

Each class that follows is a video call on a shared board. The pupil attempts the questions, snaps a photograph of the working and sends it over for marking. Within a short time a note arrives listing the topics covered, the shaky areas and the practice set.

A bad fit means a new tutor, and a clash with school means a new hour. Whoever teaches your child works to Indian time.

Little kit is needed: a laptop or tablet, earphones if the house is loud, and a connection that copes with video.

Where we tutor

Lar and Deoria-district areas our online tutors serve

Because lessons are on video, nobody has to travel. The notes show how each area's roads, schooling and seasons shape the best time for a class.

Lar town and bazaar

The historic market centre, where many households run shops or trade grain and cloth, so children study after the shutters come down.

Lar Road railway station area

The stretch around the station, useful for students who commute by train to Deoria, Gorakhpur or Mau on weekends.

Salempur

The tehsil headquarters and a larger market town with its own colleges and coaching classes.

Majhauli Raj

A historic seat of the old estate, now a town where schooling choices end early and private study fills the gap.

Rudrapur

A Deoria-district town on the Salempur side with a mix of government and private schools.

Bhatni Bazar

A railway junction town on the Gorakhpur-Varanasi line, popular with commuting families.

Deoria city

The district headquarters about forty-five kilometres north, with the district's best-known schools and coaching centres.

Barhaj

A town on the Ghaghara side with a long educational tradition and families who travel for senior schooling.

Gorakhpur

The nearest large city, with its university and the major hospitals and coaching hubs of eastern Uttar Pradesh.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Lar

Lar and Deoria district

Local schooling runs on the UP Board and CBSE, supported by inter colleges and private schools. No IB or IGCSE campus could be confirmed, so international courses are studied at home with an online tutor.

    Nearby: Gorakhpur and Varanasi

Both are the nearest big school markets. Neither produced an IB or IGCSE campus we could confirm from a school's own page, so none is named here.

      Nearby: Kolkata

Kolkata is the nearest major city with long-established international-curriculum schools, and some eastern UP families consider it for boarding or relocation.

      • Calcutta International School
      • Mahadevi Birla World Academy

      Nearby: Mussoorie boarding belt

The hill-station boarding belt is a traditional choice for families wanting a complete international curriculum, and online tutoring helps during holidays.

      • Woodstock School, Mussoorie

We label no school near Lar as an IB or Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE school, since none could be verified. The institutions listed below lie elsewhere in India and serve only as examples some families consider; none is connected to IB Gram.

      Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Lar: your questions answered

Are there IB and IGCSE tutors for Lar?+

Yes, and the lessons happen on video. A tutor with experience of the exact IB or IGCSE course sits opposite your child on the screen for a private lesson, while the child stays in their own room in Lar. Nobody comes to the house, because personal visits are offered only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. Try the first lesson free.

Will a tutor come to our house in Lar?+

No tutor of ours goes to homes in Lar, or in Uttar Pradesh beyond the NCR belt. Face-to-face tuition is offered solely in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. In Lar the arrangement is online home tuition: your child at their own desk, a teacher on live video.

Is there an IB or Cambridge school in Lar?+

Not one we could confirm. Schools in the area follow the UP Board or CBSE, and families who want an international campus look towards Kolkata, the hill boarding belt or Delhi. Should a school announce a new programme, ask to see its authorisation and look it up in the official directories.

What will IB tuition cost for a Lar student?+

There is no standard price, because the work differs so much. A Higher Level science with an experienced tutor, twice a week, is a different arrangement from a fortnightly Hindi class. Once the free trial is over we write down a quote that fits your plan, and since the lessons are online, bus and train fares disappear.

Can my child take IGCSE beside a UP Board school?+

Plenty do. The school day stays as it is and IGCSE classes are added in the evening or at the weekend, with exams taken privately. It does demand stamina, so the sensible start is Class 8 or 9 with a small number of subjects, rather than a rush in Class 10.

Cambridge or Edexcel: which IGCSE should we choose?+

Neither is the weaker certificate. Cambridge has the longer subject list and examines in three windows a year. Edexcel appeals to many pupils in Mathematics and the sciences, and its papers read slightly differently. Where you can sit the exam, and which subjects your child wants, normally settle the choice.

Will the tutor write the Internal Assessment or Extended Essay?+

The sentences have to come from the pupil. Where we help is in explaining what the examiners are looking for, listening to a plan, and telling a student honestly that a paragraph is confusing. A tutor will not draft, patch up or complete any IA, Extended Essay, TOK essay or coursework, because that would put the result at risk.

How do IB Maths AA and AI differ?+

Pick up either textbook and the contents page tells the story. AA is the path with more algebra, differentiation, integration and proof. AI replaces much of that with statistics, financial maths, modelling and heavy use of a graphing calculator. Since the two are examined separately, we always ask which course and level a child sits before suggesting a teacher.

What equipment does a student need?+

A laptop or tablet with a camera will do, together with decent internet, a notebook and a calm corner. Photographs of handwritten work can be sent from any phone. In patches with weak signal we arrange a hotspot or a recording before the term starts.

Do classes continue during floods and power cuts?+

A video class needs electricity and a signal, nothing else, so most weeks go ahead. When the river rises or a storm takes out the supply, the class is shifted or a recording is passed on. In the rainy months it helps to keep one spare hour free every week.

Can my child move from the UP Board to IB later?+

It can be done at any point, though the neatest breaks are after Class 8 and after Class 10. Our tutors set the old and new syllabuses side by side, patch what is missing and train the more open style of IB questions. A school that offers the Diploma, usually in a larger city, is needed for Classes 11 and 12.

Are you connected to the IB, Cambridge or Pearson?+

There is no link. This is a privately run tutoring service. It is neither a school nor an exam centre, and it cannot register candidates, issue certificates or promise a place anywhere. References to the boards on this page simply name the courses we teach.

How do we enter IGCSE exams privately?+

Private candidates register through an authorised exam centre, which for Lar usually means Lucknow, Kolkata or Delhi. Because fees, deadlines and seat numbers vary, approach the centre early. We supply the calendar and the subject codes so the conversation is easy.

What if my child does not get on with the tutor?+

Tell us plainly and we arrange someone else without charging for the change. We ask a few questions about the style, speed or manner that did not work, and then propose a better match, with another short trial lesson if you would like one.

Can lessons fit around shop hours or farm work at home?+

Usually. Because our tutors work on Indian Standard Time, many have early-morning, late-evening and weekend openings. Tell us when the household is busy and when it is quiet, and the weekly timetable is built to suit.

      How do I begin?+

Write to +91 7439 368 115 on WhatsApp or to support@ibgram.com, mentioning class, board, subjects and when the exam falls. Within about a day you should hear back with a proposed tutor and a trial time.
