IB and IGCSE Tutors and Online Home Tuition in Lalganj

Home tuition for Lalganj students who want a genuine IB or Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE specialist rather than a general subject tutor. Lessons are private and live over video, delivered to the family's own home on the Gandak plain, about 20 km north of Hajipur. Tutors do not visit Lalganj; in-person visits are limited to Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

  • A tutor who knows the exact IB or IGCSE paper your child will sit
  • Online only; no tutor travels to Lalganj, as in-person visits exist solely in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • A free trial class to watch before any rate is mentioned
  • No link to the IB, Cambridge, Pearson or the schools named below

IB & IGCSE in Lalganj

IB and IGCSE learning from a Lalganj home

Lalganj lies on the bank of the Narayani, as the Gandak is called here, in Vaishali district, with State Highway 74 running through it. Its municipal board dates to 1869, its population was about 37,000 at the 2011 census, and Hajipur is about 20 km south with Patna roughly 40 km away and Muzaffarpur a little under 40 km to the north-west. The soil grows wheat, maize, rice, tobacco, vegetables and moong, and the town's cultural landmarks include the Sharda Sadan Pustakalya library and the Suryana Mandir.

Ordinary schooling here follows the Bihar School Examination Board or CBSE, with colleges such as Awadh Bihari Singh Mahavidyalay for degrees. So a family asking for IB and IGCSE tutors in Lalganj usually has an out-of-town plan in mind: a boarding school in Kolkata, Dehradun or the Delhi region, an online international school, or a move to a city where the IB is easier to find. What they cannot find locally is a teacher who knows the syllabus.

We have not been able to confirm an IB or IGCSE school in Lalganj, Hajipur or Patna, and we name none as local. We offer online home tuition instead. Your child sits at home, in Lalganj, and the tutor teaches live from wherever they are in India. Nobody visits the town; that service is reserved for Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

The service is independent of the IB, Cambridge and Pearson. Tutors coach and mark, and they never write an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay or coursework on a student's behalf.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Lalganj school years

A Lalganj child will normally meet the IB or IGCSE elsewhere, so it helps to know what each stage asks. The descriptions below also say where a student from a Bihar Board or CBSE primary tends to need extra help.

PYPNursery-Class 5, ages 3-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Instead of fixed subjects and weekly tests, children work through themed inquiries and finish with a self-chosen Exhibition. Home help is conversational: stories, number talk and asking a child to explain a thought.

In a Bajjika- or Hindi-speaking home, the biggest gain at this age is simply regular, relaxed English conversation.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Teachers score each subject on four criteria and link learning to global contexts. The Personal Project at the end is a long, student-led piece of work with its own report.

Students from Bihar Board middle schools usually know their facts well and need to learn how to present an argument with evidence.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects across three Higher and three Standard Level courses, plus TOK, the Extended Essay and CAS. Internal assessments run through the two years and sit alongside the final papers.

Diploma enquiries from Vaishali tend to centre on Maths, Physics, Chemistry and English A, usually from students at a boarding or city international school.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

A smaller route combining two Diploma courses with career-related study. Very few Indian schools offer it.

We rarely see CP enquiries from Bihar; if one appears, help covers the Diploma subjects within it.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

A Bihar Board answer is judged on completeness; an IB answer is judged on whether it does what the question word asked. Our tutors for Lalganj students begin by finding which command words trip the student, then build each subject round them.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Calculus, vectors, functions and argument. Bihar Board students tend to be fast with mechanics and slower at laying out every line of reasoning an examiner expects.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Statistics, probability and modelling, with a graphic calculator in daily use. A fit for commerce, design and social-science paths.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Mechanics, waves, circuits and fields; the data booklet and unit accuracy carry real marks.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Moles and bonding feel familiar; equilibrium, energetics and organic pathways are examined through reasoning.

IB Biology

HL / SL

Cells, genetics, ecology and physiology with structured, term-sensitive answers.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Diagrams applied to live news; flood economics, maize prices and migration from North Bihar give rich examples.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Case-study papers and a research project; local trading, banana and vegetable markets offer real organisations to study.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Textual analysis, essays and an oral; Hindi-first students gain from drilled English paragraph structure.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Algorithms, programming and a documented internal solution.

IB Environmental Systems & Societies

SL / HL

River systems, flooding and agricultural land use on the Gandak plain give investigation topics rooted in daily life.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Hazards, population and resources, with fieldwork-based internal assessment.

IB History

HL / SL

Source analysis and long essays; Vaishali's ancient republic and Buddhist heritage suit discussion of early political systems.

IB Hindi A and Hindi B

HL / SL

Language courses where a Hindi-speaking home is an advantage; text types and oral fluency decide marks.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

Discussion coaching about how knowledge claims work; the student writes the exhibition and essay alone.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

Two boards run IGCSE in India and they are not interchangeable. Cambridge schedules sittings in the February-March, May-June and October-November windows, while Edexcel uses January, May-June and November. Before anything else we ask which board and which tier. A Lalganj student entering as a private candidate must also book a seat at a recognised centre, which in practice means travelling to Patna or beyond.

IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core / Extended

The Extended paper is the route to A and A*, and the marks most often thrown away are for steps left unwritten.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Grade 10

Differentiation, logarithms and identities arrive a year early, which smooths the path to IB Maths AA.

Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics A 4MA1

Foundation / Higher

Pearson sets and sequences its questions in its own way, so its past papers are the working material.

IGCSE Physics 0625

Core / Extended

Rearranging formulae, reading graphs and tackling the written substitute for the practical paper.

IGCSE Chemistry 0620

Core / Extended

Amount-of-substance sums, reaction speed, hydrocarbons and the ion-test tables students must recall.

IGCSE Biology 0610

Core / Extended

Heredity, transport in plants, human organ systems and the six-mark answers that need a clear order.

IGCSE Economics 0455

Grade 9-10

Price, output and government choices, tested through tables and short articles.

IGCSE Computer Science 0478

Grade 9-10

Flowcharts, logic gates, pseudocode and enough Python to test a solution.

IGCSE Business Studies 0450

Grade 9-10

Answers must refer to the firm in the question, with simple profit and cash-flow sums.

IGCSE English as a Second Language 0510

Grade 9-10

Reading, writing, listening and speaking, built for students whose home language is Hindi or Bajjika.

IGCSE Hindi as a Second Language 0549

Grade 9-10

Often a safe grade for a home speaker once format and time limits are practised.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Lalganj school timetables

Every Lalganj lesson takes the same basic form, a live video call between one student and one tutor who lives somewhere else, since no tutor makes the trip to the town. What differs between families is the rhythm of the term.

Regular weekly home lessons

The student sees one tutor at the same evening hour each week, with exercises to finish before the next call. This works best for a child already enrolled in an international course who wants a single weak subject brought up.

  • The same tutor throughout
  • Course and level agreed first
  • Past papers marked weekly
  • Slots that avoid flood-season disruption

Short bridge before a school switch

A few weeks of lessons for a child moving from the Bihar Board into IB or IGCSE, with English for study, command words and subject gaps.

  • English for academic writing
  • Command-word practice
  • Gap repair in the weakest subject
  • A closing summary for the family

Pre-exam intensive

A heavier timetable before mocks and the May or November sitting, centred on timed papers and mark schemes.

  • Two to four lessons a week
  • Marked against the official scheme
  • Specific feedback
  • Booked ahead of the busy season

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Lalganj

01

Schooling around Lalganj and the missing IB and IGCSE link

  • No confirmed IB or IGCSE school in Lalganj, Hajipur or Patna
  • Boarding in Kolkata or Delhi NCR, or online enrolment, are the usual routes
  • Families: railway and institutional staff, traders, households with relatives abroad
  • Support is private tuition over video

Lalganj has an old educational tradition. Its municipal board was formed in 1869, schools such as G.A. High School and Bhagwan Shankar High School are long established, Guru Nanak Kanya High School serves girls, and Awadh Bihari Singh Mahavidyalay offers degrees. The Sharda Sadan Pustakalya, one of the larger libraries in Bihar, tells you something about the town's attitude to reading.

What the town lacks, as far as we can verify, is a school teaching the IB or an IGCSE, and the same is true of Hajipur and, on the information we could check, of Patna. So an international pathway usually means leaving Vaishali for boarding in Kolkata or the Delhi region, or enrolling in an online international school and staying put.

The families who ask are varied. Some work for the railways or in Hajipur's institutions and expect postings to other states. Some run businesses in banana, vegetables or grain and think about a degree abroad. Some have relatives in the Gulf, the UK or Canada. All of them worry that the child will arrive in an IB classroom without the habits it demands.

Our response is private tuition by video. The tutor is matched to the course and level, the lesson happens at home, and nobody travels. We say clearly that in-person visits do not extend to Lalganj.

02

How do IB and IGCSE differ from the Bihar Board and CBSE?

At bottom, the Bihar Board and CBSE reward a complete and accurate account of the syllabus, while IB and IGCSE reward what a student does with knowledge: reading a graph, weighing two views, designing a test, defending a judgement. Students can look excellent under one system and merely good under the other.

The second difference is the shape of the year. International courses carry internal assessments and coursework, so effort is spread over two years. A student who studies for the Bihar Board in a concentrated burst before the February-March papers must learn a steadier pace.

English is the third difference. Many Lalganj students are fluent in Hindi and Bajjika, and extended English writing is less familiar. Tutors teach the shape of a good answer: a claim, evidence, a link to the question and a conclusion.

None of this makes IB or IGCSE harder overall, only different. Families who learn the differences early usually find the transition manageable.

03

What does IB or IGCSE tuition cost for a family in Lalganj?

You will not find a price table on this page, deliberately. A quotation reflects the programme, the level, the subject, who the tutor is and how often they meet your child, and it reaches you on paper once the free trial is done, so early talk stays on learning.

The biggest driver is level, since an HL Diploma science call for far more preparation than Primary Years reading support. Next comes the tutor's track record, then how many lessons a week you want, and finally the season, because the busiest weeks lead up to May and November.

A Lalganj family does not pay for the road to Hajipur or Patna and back, and a child does not spend an afternoon on a bus. The fee pays for teaching only.

Ask about tutor-change terms and written notes before deciding. They are worth as much as the headline rate.

04

Online tuition, Patna coaching, local tutors or self-study in Lalganj?

Bihar has one of India's deepest tuition cultures, so Lalganj parents know the choices. Coaching in Hajipur, Muzaffarpur or Patna is mainly aimed at Board exams, JEE and NEET. A local tutor knows the child but usually not the international syllabus. Self-study with past papers suits a disciplined student. Online one-to-one tuition brings a specialist to the home.

Connectivity needs frankness. Broadband and mobile data are decent in town and patchy near the river and in outlying villages, and floods can cut power. We ask for a backup hotspot and charged devices, and a tutor can continue by audio if the video drops.

Peer company is the missing piece at home. A city classroom gives a student classmates on the same course, so we suggest short group sessions or a study partner once the routine is set.

The table compares the options.

Floods, Chhath, Sonepur fair and exams: the Lalganj year

The Gandak shapes the year. In monsoon the river can rise, roads to Hajipur can close at low points and power can fail, so the July to September lessons are kept light and a backup connection is arranged. Online lessons survive flooding better than any classroom, but only if the house has electricity.

Chhath Puja in October or November is the largest family event, with days of preparation and fasting, and children are involved in the household effort. We pause lessons for the main days and avoid any mock in that week.

Not far away, the Sonepur fair around Kartik Purnima draws crowds across the Gandak, and Durga Puja, Diwali and Holi fill other weeks. Winter fog from December to January disrupts travel more than lessons, though we avoid dawn slots.

Both qualifications schedule sittings around May and November, and the November one lands beside Chhath and Diwali, so a November candidate does best to complete the heavy revision before the first week of October.

Where can IB and IGCSE take a student from Lalganj?

Domestically, the Association of Indian Universities recognises the IB Diploma as equal to Class 12, which opens most undergraduate doors, and many central universities admit through CUET-UG. IGCSE alone is a Grade 10 qualification, so those students normally continue into AS and A Level or the Diploma.

Within Bihar, options include Patna University, IIT Patna, NIT Patna, AIIMS Patna, Chanakya National Law University and NIPER at Hajipur. Each has its own rules for non-Bihar boards, so check the current notice before choosing HL subjects.

For engineering and medicine, JEE Main and NEET set specific eligibility for IB and IGCSE candidates. Read the rules in Class 10, not Class 12.

For study abroad, admissions offices in Britain, Canada, Australia, America and Singapore are used to IB and IGCSE transcripts. Our tutors work on the subject grades those transcripts show, and stay out of application essays.

07

IB Maths and the sciences for students on the Gandak plain

Students choose between two IB Maths courses. Analysis and Approaches is built on algebra, calculus and argument, and fits future engineers, physicists and mathematicians. Applications and Interpretation is built on data, simulation and technology, and fits future economists, designers and social scientists. One diagnostic session usually shows which suits a child.

The exploration counts for a fifth of the Maths grade and is strongest when built on familiar ground. Gandak flood-gauge readings, banana prices at Hajipur or the proportions of the Vishwa Shanti Stupa would each supply honest material.

Science is where Bihar Board students feel the style gap most. The facts are known; what is new is writing a short, exact answer that names the law, applies it to the data and states a result. Tutors rehearse that pattern until it is automatic.

A river-water test or a study of crop disease would make a natural Environmental Systems or Biology investigation in Vaishali, though the design, data and write-up must all be the student's. The tutor's job is to question and to compare the draft with the criteria.

08

IGCSE tiers, boards and subject sets for Lalganj students

  • Choose Extended when IB Higher Level or A Level sciences are the aim
  • Confirm the board with the school first
  • Additional Mathematics bridges to IB Maths AA
  • Private candidates should book a centre early

Most IGCSE candidates sit five to eight subjects across Grades 9 and 10, with English, Maths and at least one science forming the core of the set.

Core papers cap the available grade, so any student who wants IB Higher Level or A Level sciences later should aim at Extended from the outset.

The boards lay out their papers differently and sit on different dates, so we practise on whichever board the school or centre uses, from lesson one.

Anyone entering privately should reserve a centre seat well ahead, because the choice near Lalganj is narrow and a journey to Patna or Delhi is likely.

Where we tutor

Lalganj, Hajipur and the roads students travel

Lessons are on a screen, so none of these places changes the teaching. They matter for the clock: how long a ride to Hajipur or Patna takes, which season floods the approaches, and which festivals empty the evening.

Lalganj town centre

The market and municipal core, with the Suryana Mandir in the middle of the town.

Sharda Sadan Pustakalya area

Home to one of Bihar's larger libraries; a quiet reading culture sits alongside the bustle.

Awadh Bihari Singh Mahavidyalay area

The degree college neighbourhood, where older students and lecturers live.

Narayani (Gandak) riverbank

The riverside edge of the town; monsoon flood levels shape life and travel.

State Highway 74 corridor

The main road through the town, linking Hajipur, Muzaffarpur and Bhagwanpur.

Road to Hajipur

About 20 km south; the route to NIPER, the railway zone offices and the bridge towards Patna.

Muzaffarpur direction

A little under 40 km north-west, a larger city for hospitals and colleges.

Patna route

Around 40 km south, where most international school options in Bihar would be found.

Vaishali heritage sites

The Ashoka pillar, Vishwa Shanti Stupa and Vaishali Lake lie nearby, drawing pilgrims and school trips.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Lalganj

Lalganj itself

Local options are limited. Town schools follow the Bihar Board or CBSE, and we have confirmed none offering IB or IGCSE.

    Nearby: Hajipur and Patna

The two cities families in Vaishali use most. We could not confirm an IB or IGCSE school in either, so none is named.

      Nearby: Kolkata

A familiar boarding destination for Bihar families, reachable by train.

      • Calcutta International School, Kolkata

      Nearby: Delhi NCR

Where IB schools are most numerous; some Bihar families relocate or board a child here.

      • The British School, New Delhi
      • Pathways World School, Gurugram

We cannot verify an IB or IGCSE programme at any school in Lalganj, Hajipur or Patna. The Kolkata and Delhi NCR names that follow are there because Bihar parents often look at them for boarding, and every detail should be checked with the school itself. IB Gram stands apart from all of them, and from the IB, Cambridge and Pearson.

      Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Lalganj: your questions answered

Can my child have an IB tutor while living in Lalganj?+

Yes, via live video. We pick the teacher for the subject and level instead of the postcode, and each call involves one student only. Lalganj is outside the area for in-person visits, which stay in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, so the equipment needed is a laptop, a quiet corner and reliable internet.

Is there any IB or IGCSE school near Lalganj?+

We could not confirm one in Lalganj, Hajipur or Patna. Local schools follow the Bihar Board or CBSE. Families who want an international school usually look at boarding in Kolkata or the Delhi region, or at online enrolment. Please contact any school for its current programmes and intake.

Does anyone come to the house?+

No. Doorstep lessons run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. In Lalganj, home tuition means a private lesson attended from your own house on a laptop, which keeps the individual attention without the travel.

How is the fee worked out?+

Programme, level, subject, tutor seniority and weekly frequency together set the figure; no tariff is printed. When the free trial is over, a written quotation states the hourly rate, the weekly plan and the date of the first review.

Our daughter will join a boarding school in Kolkata. How can tutoring prepare her?+

A bridge course can build English for academic writing, teach the command words and fix any weak patch in Maths or Science, and can follow the school's entrance format if there is one. Tell us the school and class and we plan backwards from the joining date.

Which IB subjects can you cover?+

Maths in either form at HL and SL, the three sciences, Economics, Business Management, English A, Computer Science, Environmental Systems and Societies, Geography, History, Hindi, and TOK coaching are covered. For other subjects send the code; we will tell you plainly if there is no one suitable.

Do you teach Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE?+

Both boards are covered, in Maths, Additional Maths, the sciences, Economics, Business Studies, Computer Science and English. Because each board words and marks questions in its own way, practice starts from your child's board papers.

What happens in the trial lesson?+

A tutor teaches a short real topic from your child's course while you watch. Fees are not mentioned until afterwards, and if the style does not suit, we suggest another tutor.

Will a tutor write the Internal Assessment?+

No tutor will do that. What a tutor can do is walk through the marking criteria, put questions that tighten a plan and react to a draft the student has produced. Ideas, data and prose have to be the student's own under IB and Cambridge rules.

What about floods and power cuts during the monsoon?+

Floods affect roads and electricity more than video lessons. We keep July to September lighter, ask families for a hotspot and charged devices, and continue by audio with a shared document if video drops. A lesson lost entirely is rescheduled.

      Will lessons pause for Chhath?+

Yes. We stop for the main Chhath days and avoid mocks that week. Heavy revision for a November sitting is scheduled for September and early October so the festival does not squeeze it.

Can you help a student move from the Bihar Board to IB?+

Yes. Before the move, a bridging block works on academic English, command verbs and whichever subject has the biggest gap. After it, the first term at the new school should feel like carrying on rather than starting again.

Do you teach primary and middle-years children?+

Certainly. In PYP the sessions are gentle reading and number talk; in MYP they focus on criteria and the Personal Project. Starting before Class 11 makes the Diploma years less hurried.

Where can IB and IGCSE lead after school?+

In India the Diploma is recognised as equal to Class 12 by the Association of Indian Universities, and central universities mostly admit through CUET-UG. IGCSE leads on to AS and A Level or the Diploma. JEE and NEET carry separate conditions for these boards. Abroad, British, Canadian, Australian and American universities accept both qualifications.

      How do you choose tutors?+

Each tutor is screened on qualifications, on how recently they taught this very programme and on a sample lesson. All live in India and keep Indian hours. A tutor who does not suit your child is replaced.

Is IB Gram part of any school or board?+

No. IB Gram works on its own and holds no agreement with the IB, Cambridge, Pearson or any school. Any school named here is simply somewhere a family might look.

      How do we start?+

Send a note to support@ibgram.com, or WhatsApp +91 7439 368 115, naming the school, board, subject, level and exam sitting. Most families hear back with a suggested tutor and trial slots within a working day.
