IB and IGCSE Tutors and Home Tuition in Kasaragod

Kasaragod families often know the IGCSE already, through a child's years at a British-curriculum school in the UAE or Qatar. Private tuition at home here means a live one-to-one online lesson: no tutor visits Kasaragod houses, but the same teacher can follow a student from a Gulf classroom to a Kerala living room, on IST, without a break in the syllabus.

  • A tutor who has taught the exact syllabus your child met in the Gulf or expects to meet next
  • Lessons are live online; nobody visits a home in Kasaragod, because home tuition in person runs only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • One complete trial lesson, free, ahead of any decision
  • No link to the IB, Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel or any school named here

IB & IGCSE in Kasaragod

Why Kasaragod families keep asking about IGCSE and the IB

Kasaragod is the northernmost district of Kerala, and unusually for the state, its own street signs and classrooms mix Malayalam, Kannada and Tulu. A great many homes here also have a father, brother or uncle working in the Gulf, which means children often grow up switching between Kerala and a Dubai or Sharjah flat. The curriculum question is therefore real, not theoretical: some have already sat IGCSE papers abroad.

When such a child comes back, even temporarily, the local schools run the Kerala state syllabus, CBSE or ICSE, and the IGCSE thread breaks. A tutor can hold it in place. The lessons carry on from the last past paper, using the same board and the same specification, whether the child ends up returning to the UAE, joining a school in Mangaluru or sitting Cambridge as a private candidate.

For other families the interest is forward-looking. They have watched Gulf-based cousins take Cambridge or IB routes to universities in Britain, Canada or Australia and want the same door open. A tutor in another Indian city, teaching live in IST, is a workable way to try that without uprooting a child from Kasaragod.

IB Gram is an independent service with no tie to the IB, Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel or any school. Tutors teach and mark; they do not write a student's Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay or coursework.

At a glance

  • IB PYP, MYP and DP, plus Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE
  • Built for children back from the Gulf, for private candidates and for students with a school elsewhere
  • Live one-to-one video lessons on IST
  • A free trial lesson and a written note after each session
  • No home visits in Kasaragod; in-person tuition exists only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Kasaragod school years

No school in Kasaragod teaches the four IB programmes as far as we can confirm, so they reach a child through the Gulf, boarding or private study. Each stage asks something different of a tutor.

PYPClass 1-5, ages 6-11

IB Primary Years Programme

PYP groups learning into large themes, and each child closes the programme with an Exhibition. A tutor's work here is gentle: reading for enjoyment, comfort with number and helping a child express ideas in clear English.

PYP help for Kasaragod often follows a Gulf posting: a young child who has done a primary year at an IB school abroad and must not lose the inquiry habit once home.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

MYP marks rest on four criteria in each subject, and Year 5 brings the Personal Project. The content is rarely the obstacle; writing to a criterion is, and a tutor coaches that skill directly.

A returning Kasaragod MYP student may also be juggling Malayalam or Kannada at school, so sessions keep English academic writing ticking over.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Three Higher and three Standard Level subjects, plus TOK, the Extended Essay and CAS make up the Diploma. Internal Assessments carry a meaningful share of each grade, and most students sit final papers in May.

DP students from Kasaragod are typically boarding elsewhere or still enrolled at a Gulf school, using a tutor on holiday visits and for the toughest subjects.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

CP pairs at least two DP subjects with career-related study and a reflective project. It is unusual in India, but its DP courses still need full-depth teaching.

CP requests from Kasaragod are scarce and are handled as help with individual DP subjects.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

We begin with the exact syllabus code, the level and the exam series, then find a tutor whose career fits that combination. Timing follows: Kasaragod evenings shift with school runs, prayer times and calls with family abroad.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Algebra, calculus and proof at pace; HL Paper 3 rewards students who have trained on unfamiliar problems.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

Coaching on questioning claims and structuring an argument, never on writing the essay.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

Many Kasaragod students already know IGCSE from a Gulf school, which shortens the learning curve. Cambridge takes private candidates through registered centres and Edexcel works through its own, so the board is settled first, then the tutor.

IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core / Extended

Method marks reward full working, so a student who writes every step keeps credit through small slips.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Grade 9-10

Calculus, logarithms and vectors ahead of schedule, a helpful bridge to IB Maths Analysis or A Level.

Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics A 4MA1

Foundation / Higher

Similar to Cambridge in content but framed differently, so Edexcel papers are the right practice for students arriving from Pearson schools.

IGCSE Physics 0625

Core / Extended

Formula handling, graphs and the alternative-to-practical paper, rehearsed from data sets.

IGCSE Chemistry 0620

Core / Extended

Reacting masses, rates and organic basics, with balanced equations written accurately.

IGCSE Biology 0610

Core / Extended

Processes described in order and data interpreted with care.

IGCSE Economics 0455

Grade 9-10

Definitions, diagrams and judgement, with evaluation questions practised under time.

IGCSE Accounting 0452

Grade 9-10

Ledgers, control accounts and final accounts, suited to trading families.

IGCSE Computer Science 0478

Grade 9-10

Pseudocode, networks and binary, with programming built from short exercises.

IGCSE English First Language 0500

Grade 9-10

Directed and narrative writing drafted under time, then revised from feedback.

IGCSE Arabic as a foreign language 0544

Grade 9-10

For students who studied Arabic in a Gulf school and want a recognised qualification to show for it.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Kasaragod school timetables

Every Kasaragod session is live, private and online. Families differ in rhythm, and Gulf-linked households often switch between these three as holidays and exams move around.

A steady weekly lesson

One tutor, one subject, one fixed slot a week. It suits a child keeping in step with a school elsewhere or keeping an IGCSE course alive after a Gulf return.

  • Same tutor from start to finish
  • Past papers from the first month
  • A written note after every class
  • A second weekly slot is easy to add

Whole-syllabus teaching for a private candidate

For a Cambridge IGCSE candidate with no school class, the tutor maps the syllabus, sets milestones and runs mocks until the exam.

  • Topic-by-topic syllabus plan
  • Alternative-to-practical training for sciences
  • Advice on what an approved exam centre asks for
  • Mock papers marked against the published scheme

Holiday and exam-window intensives

Students flying in for the summer or around exams can take three or four lessons a week for a few weeks, each built around a timed paper and its review.

  • Timed paper each session
  • Every error reviewed
  • Fits visits home and Gulf school holidays
  • Book before flights are fixed where possible

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Kasaragod

01

Which IB and IGCSE schools can a Kasaragod family consider?

  • No IB or IGCSE school confirmed inside Kasaragod district
  • Mangaluru is the practical neighbour for Cambridge schools
  • Gulf returnees often only need continuity, not a new school
  • Always confirm admissions with the school itself

Within Kasaragod district we could not confirm an IB World School or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE centre. The district's schools are strong in the ordinary sense and deliver the Kerala syllabus, CBSE and ICSE well, often in Malayalam, Kannada or English medium. That leaves international curricula as something reached outside the district, or privately.

Mangaluru, around 50 km north, is the direction most families look. It has a clutch of schools teaching Cambridge IGCSE that we could verify, among them The Bharath Academy, TLC Cambridge International School and The Cambridge International School in Adyar. For students in Kumbla, Uppala or Manjeshwar, the distance is manageable; from Kasaragod town it is a long day.

Kochi, several hours south, has IB and Cambridge schools, so it matters mostly for families planning a real move within Kerala. The other major pattern is the Gulf: a child who studies at a British-curriculum school in the UAE on a parent's work contract, and then spends periods at home.

For a student who stays put, private candidacy is the simplest route: Cambridge allows entry through registered centres, and a tutor teaches the syllabus online. The IB Diploma normally needs a registered IB World School. Please check each school directly for admissions and fees, since only the school can confirm them.

What happens when a child returns from a Gulf British-curriculum school to Kasaragod?

  • Keep the same board and specification to avoid a gap
  • Gather reports and specification codes first
  • Decide on the exam series together with the contract date

A child who has been studying IGCSE or the early years of an A Level in the UAE and then comes back to Kasaragod meets a wall: the local classroom teaches a different syllabus, often in a different rhythm, and the IGCSE papers they were working towards do not exist in the Kerala state system. Parents worry, rightly, that six months away could cost a whole year.

The practical answer is continuity. A tutor who already teaches the same board and code can pick up at the topic the child reached, using the same specimen papers. If the family is waiting to see whether the parent's contract will continue, this keeps both doors open: return to a Gulf school at term start, or sit the exam as a private candidate.

Families should collect the school's last reports, the specification code for each subject, recent marks and the planned exam series. With those in hand, the first lesson can diagnose the gap in an hour, and the plan that follows is short and concrete.

Some children stay permanently. For them, the tutor helps choose a destination: a Cambridge school in Mangaluru, the private-candidate route or a Kerala school with IGCSE tutoring on the side. None of this requires the parent to fly back for an interview.

03

How do Kerala, CBSE and ICSE differ from IB and IGCSE, and what about Kannada and Tulu?

  • IB and IGCSE reward reasoned application
  • Coursework needs planning across months
  • Academic English is built deliberately in a multilingual home

Kerala's state syllabus rewards thorough command of the prescribed text, and CBSE and ICSE add more structured application. IB and IGCSE examiners go further and ask a student to apply an idea to an unfamiliar situation and defend the choice. The difference shows first in extended answers: a memorised paragraph wins part of a mark there, not the whole of it.

Assessment design also differs. Kerala boards rest mostly on year-end papers. The IB layers Internal Assessments, the Extended Essay and CAS on top of exams, while IGCSE carries coursework or practical papers in some subjects. A student has to plan across many months rather than revise in a final rush.

Kasaragod adds a language layer. Many students here live with Malayalam, Kannada or Tulu at home and study in English, which gives them flexibility but means academic English must be built on purpose. Early sessions often work on vocabulary and paragraph structure as much as on subject content.

Neither route is better overall. Indian entrance systems reward the Indian boards directly; IB and IGCSE help most for study abroad or for a family that moves often between countries. Start from the destination.

04

What does IB or IGCSE tuition cost in Kasaragod?

  • Programme, subject and level
  • Tutor experience and subject scarcity
  • Weekly hours, or a holiday intensive
  • Closeness to an exam series
  • A rate in writing before booking

Rates are confirmed in writing before any booking, and they vary with the work involved, not with a Kasaragod price list. We publish no fees because the same clock hour can mean very different things: an IB Higher Level Physics specialist and an IGCSE Core English tutor are different offers.

The first driver is the programme and level. Tutors with years of Diploma teaching or examining experience ask more than those for early IGCSE work, and unusual pairings, say Maths HL with Physics HL, are harder to staff.

The second is schedule. A student flying in for a six-week summer intensive needs several hours a week and often a matched tutor quickly; a student on a steady weekly slot is easier to place. Booking ahead of May and November exam windows keeps choice wider.

Online teaching carries no distance charge, so a Kasaragod student is quoted on the same terms as a student in any Indian city. Try the free trial lesson, compare the quote with any local coaching fee, and weigh the value of undivided attention.

05

Should a Kasaragod family choose online tuition, a coaching centre or a Mangaluru school?

  • A tutor is precise and needs no travel
  • A Mangaluru school gives a full classroom but means a move
  • Some families combine school and tutor

For a student keeping an IGCSE or IB thread going, an online one-to-one tutor is usually the most efficient option, because the expertise is precise and the student does not travel. Coaching institutes in Kasaragod and Mangaluru are aimed at state board exams, NEET and JEE, which is valuable but a different syllabus.

A Mangaluru school gives a full classroom environment, which a tutor cannot replace. It also means a move or a demanding daily commute and fees to match. Some families do both: a Mangaluru Cambridge school during the week and a tutor for a difficult subject.

Self-study is open to a disciplined student, but without expert marking a recurring mistake can go unseen. Kerala's rains add a practical point: a tutor working online can move a lesson when a storm arrives, while a student on a road to Mangaluru cannot.

Online needs a steady connection and a charged laptop. A mobile hotspot as backup handles most outages, and a session lost to a genuine cut is rescheduled.

When are the exams, and how do monsoon, Ramadan and the Gulf holidays shape the year?

  • The monsoon can interrupt lessons for days
  • Ramadan and Eid change evening timetables
  • Gulf summer visits suit intensive blocks

IB Diploma papers fall mainly in May, with November at some schools, while Cambridge IGCSE uses May-June and October-November series and Edexcel adds a January window. Boards and exam centres confirm dates and entry deadlines each year, so check them as soon as a plan is made.

Kasaragod's climate comes next. The south-west monsoon from June to September is heavy on this coast, with outages and flooded roads. Sessions in that season need a spare slot or two, and mocks for November candidates fall right in its tail.

Religious and family calendars matter. Ramadan changes the evening timetable in many homes, Eid and Onam bring family visits, and the Christmas break runs into the new year. Theyyam season across north Malabar, from about December to April, draws relatives home as well.

The Gulf calendar adds its own pattern. Children of expatriates often arrive in June or July for the summer and leave before school reopens abroad, so intensive blocks in those weeks work well, with lighter weekly sessions the rest of the year.

07

Where can an IB or IGCSE student from Kasaragod study next?

  • Check AIU equivalence for each course
  • NEET and JEE publish their own eligibility rules
  • No tutor can guarantee admission

In India, the Association of Indian Universities recognises the IB Diploma and Cambridge results through its equivalence process, and the conditions vary with the course, so confirm them for the exact degree and university. Kasaragod students commonly look at Kannur, Kozhikode, Mangaluru, Bengaluru and Kochi.

Medicine and health sciences are popular in this region, partly because Mangaluru is a major medical education centre. NEET-UG has its own eligibility and subject rules for IB and Cambridge students, and they should be confirmed early. For engineering, JEE Main is open to candidates who satisfy its published conditions.

CUET-UG serves many central universities, including the Central University of Kerala at Periye, with subject-code rules that IB and Cambridge students must read carefully. Closer to home, this gives Kasaragod students a serious central university without leaving the district.

Abroad, the Gulf connection often opens the first door: many families already know the UK, Canada and Australia through relatives. IB and Cambridge results are widely understood, and a tutor can help reach stronger grades, but no tutor can promise admission.

08

How are IB Maths and the sciences taught online for Kasaragod students?

  • Maths: pick the course before Class 11
  • Physics: derivations and early planning of the investigation
  • Chemistry: moles and mechanisms
  • Biology: command terms and data handling

Maths begins with a choice between Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation. We help families decide before Class 11, because it shapes everything after. The tutor then works through each topic with examples, timed practice and marking inside the same week.

For Physics the shared whiteboard carries derivations and circuits while the tutor follows the student's working live. The internal investigation is planned early, around equipment a school or household can realistically supply.

Chemistry hinges on calculation and mechanism. Biology hinges on command terms and data. In both, tutors read written answers closely and show how a marker would score them, which is the quickest way to lift a grade.

After every class a short written note records the topics covered and the practice set, which suits parents abroad who want to follow progress from another time zone.

09

IGCSE Core or Extended: which tier suits a Kasaragod student?

  • Extended keeps every grade open
  • Stay on the same tier after a Gulf return
  • Match subjects to the intended course

Core is a supported route that tops out at grade C in most Cambridge subjects; Extended covers A* to G. Students who plan to continue to IB or A Level should usually aim for Extended, unless a diagnostic paper shows they need more time first.

A returnee from a Gulf school will often already know the tier they were entered for, and staying on the same tier avoids a gap. Tier choices can often be confirmed with the exam centre later than people assume, but check the deadline.

Subject choice follows destination. Medicine-minded students take Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English and a language; business-minded ones add Economics or Accounting.

Whichever tier applies, real past papers with careful marking move grades most, and that is what the tutor supplies.

Where we tutor

Kasaragod neighbourhoods our online tutors work with

Every Kasaragod lesson happens online, so the area a family lives in shapes timing and connectivity, not any tutor's journey. School distance, monsoon power cuts, prayer and festival hours and the Gulf time difference are what need planning.

Kasaragod town and the old bus stand

The district's commercial core, with trading families, shops and offices and an evening rhythm that starts once the market slows.

Thalangara

The historic coastal locality at the mouth of the Chandragiri river, where many homes have strong Gulf connections.

Vidyanagar

An education-minded area near colleges and government offices, popular with families of staff and teachers.

Chandragiri and Melparamba

The south bank of the river, with newer houses and families who commute to Kasaragod and Kanhangad.

Nellikunnu

A coastal and residential belt close to the beach, with a mix of older families and Gulf-funded new homes.

Kumbla

A town to the north close to the Karnataka border, where Kannada and Tulu sit alongside Malayalam and families often look towards Mangaluru.

Manjeshwar

The border town before Karnataka, with cross-state school and work links and a multilingual household culture.

Uppala

A coastal town with a large Gulf-linked population and strong interest in English-medium options.

Badiadka and Mulleria

Inland hill areas where households follow farming and arecanut seasons and power outages are more frequent.

Periya

Home to the Central University of Kerala, which draws academic families and raises interest in higher education close by.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Kasaragod: your questions answered

Are there IB and IGCSE tutors for Kasaragod students?+

Yes, through live online lessons. IB Gram pairs Kasaragod students with India-based tutors for IB PYP, MYP and DP and for Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE. Because the tutor does not travel, choice is based on syllabus experience and not on who lives nearby. A free trial lesson lets you judge the teaching before deciding to continue.

Can I arrange IB or IGCSE home tuition in Kasaragod?+

Only in the online form. Tutors do not visit houses in Kasaragod, because in-person home tuition is run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. Your child takes a live private lesson at home on a laptop, which keeps the one-to-one attention. It also means a father or mother abroad can read the session note the same evening.

Which schools near Kasaragod teach the IB or IGCSE?+

None confirmed in the district. The nearest verified Cambridge IGCSE schools are in Mangaluru, about 50 km north, including The Bharath Academy, TLC Cambridge International School and The Cambridge International School in Adyar. Kochi has IB and Cambridge options further south. Please confirm current admissions and fees with each school, since we are independent and have no affiliation with them.

What does IB or IGCSE tuition cost in Kasaragod?+

The rate depends on programme, subject, level, tutor experience and weekly hours, and it is given in writing before you book. We do not publish prices, since a Higher Level IB Physics specialist and an IGCSE Core English tutor are priced differently. Online delivery adds no distance charge, and the free trial lesson lets you judge value before paying.

My child is back from a UAE school. Can the IGCSE course continue?+

Yes, in most cases. A tutor who teaches the same board and specification can continue from the topic your child reached, using the same type of papers. Bring the last school report, the specification codes, recent marks and the planned exam series, and the first lesson can diagnose the gap. You can then decide whether to return to the Gulf or sit privately.

Can a parent working abroad follow the lessons?+

Yes. Sessions run on IST, and a short written note after each class records what was covered and what to practise, so a parent in another time zone can read it when convenient. A parent is welcome to join the trial lesson by video, and review calls can be arranged at a time that suits the Gulf evening.

Can my child take Cambridge IGCSE as a private candidate?+

Usually, yes, through a registered exam centre. Availability, fees, dates and subjects depend on the centre and series, and science practicals are normally replaced by an alternative-to-practical paper. A tutor teaches the syllabus and prepares your child for each paper, while registration with the centre is the family's task, so begin that conversation early.

Do tutors write the IA or Extended Essay?+

No. Tutors coach only. They can explain assessment criteria, discuss how to plan an investigation, comment on a draft your child wrote and suggest improvements, but they never write, rewrite or ghost-write an IA, Extended Essay, TOK essay or coursework submitted for a grade. The ideas and words must be the student's own.

How does IGCSE differ from Class 10 Kerala state exams?+

IGCSE questions usually ask for explanation and application, where state papers tend to reward accurate recall. There are also Core and Extended tiers, more data handling and longer English answers. Maths and science content overlaps, but answer technique has to be retrained, which regular marked practice with a tutor does most quickly.

Which exam series should we target?+

IB Diploma papers mainly fall in May, Cambridge IGCSE in May-June or October-November, and Edexcel in January, May-June or November. Boards and exam centres publish dates and deadlines every year. We suggest starting at least two terms ahead and confirming dates early, particularly for a child who will fly in from the Gulf for the exam.

What if the monsoon cuts power or internet during a lesson?+

We allow for it. Keep the laptop charged, a hotspot ready, and tell the tutor if heavy rain is forecast. A lesson lost to a real outage is rescheduled without charging twice. For students near exams, extra slots are planned in advance through the June to September rains.

Does online teaching work for IB Maths?+

Yes. A shared whiteboard lets the tutor see each line as it is written, so a slip is caught at once. Timed papers are done at home and reviewed line by line in the lesson, and the student uses the calculator or software the syllabus requires. That mix of live working and marked practice is what lifts marks.

Can my child keep Malayalam, Kannada or Tulu alongside an international course?+

Yes. Many Kasaragod students study a home language at school while following IB or IGCSE privately. IB offers language courses and IGCSE has language papers, although options depend on syllabus and tutor, so ask at the start. A strong home language usually helps English writing rather than hindering it.

Can lessons fit around Ramadan or prayer times?+

Yes. Session times are agreed with the family and can be moved during Ramadan, Eid and festival weeks, within a tutor's availability. A fixed weekly slot gives the best progress, so we suggest a time that holds for a term and a lighter plan during the fasting month.

What if we are not happy with the tutor?+

Tell us and another tutor is arranged. The free trial lesson exists so that you can judge the teaching style first, and changing tutor is a normal part of the service, with no penalty. What you tell us about the mismatch helps us choose a better fit next time.

How do I get started from Kasaragod?+

Message us on WhatsApp at +91 7439 368 115 or email support@ibgram.com with your child's class, board, subjects and free hours. We reply with a proposed tutor, a time for the free trial lesson and a written rate. After that first lesson you decide whether to continue, with no obligation.
