IB and IGCSE Tutors and Private Home Tuition in Jehanabad

For private home tuition in Jehanabad, the international syllabus is the hard part to find. A student can keep learning at the family desk while a tutor who has taught the exact IB or IGCSE course teaches live over video, one-to-one. Nobody travels, and the same lesson works for a family in the town centre or out towards Kako.

  • Live, private lessons at home, without the trip to Patna or Gaya
  • Tutor picked for the exact course, level and exam session
  • A free trial lesson, then a written summary after every class
  • No link to any school or exam board named on this page

IB & IGCSE in Jehanabad

IB and IGCSE tutoring for Jehanabad: the honest picture

Jehanabad is a compact district town on the Patna to Gaya corridor, in the old Magadh region, with the Barabar caves in Makhdumpur block and the dargah at Kako among its best-known landmarks. Its schools run on the Bihar School Examination Board and CBSE. Searching school directories and the IB and Cambridge listings, we found no school in the town that teaches an IB programme or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE, so none is named here.

Being so near Patna changes the conversation. Many Jehanabad families already send their children to the state capital for coaching or for a better-resourced school, and some parents wonder whether the same trip could unlock an international curriculum. The nearest school we could confirm teaching Cambridge IGCSE is on the western edge of Patna, in Danapur, and a daily commute to it from Jehanabad is not something we would recommend to a teenager.

The people who ask us questions come from several directions. There are doctors, officers and teachers who expect a transfer and want a curriculum that travels. There are families with cousins abroad who have started thinking about foreign universities. And there are parents of Class 8 and 9 students who have heard that IGCSE Mathematics builds strong reasoning habits and would like to test that at home.

IB Gram serves all of them online. Tutors teach live over video, work one-to-one and use Indian time. We are independent, with no partnership with any school, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and we say plainly that tutors do not visit homes in Jehanabad.

At a glance

  • Subject help across IB PYP, MYP and DP, and Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE
  • Entirely online, one student per lesson, no home visits in Jehanabad
  • Written rate and free trial before any commitment
  • A different tutor at no charge if the first match is not right
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Jehanabad school years

Because the nearest IB teaching is well outside Jehanabad, parents usually meet the programmes as a plan for the future. Here is what each stage looks like in practice and what a Jehanabad child would want in place before stepping into it.

PYPNursery to Class 5, ages 3-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Children explore themes across subjects, ask questions, gather information and share what they find. A closing Exhibition in the final primary year lets each child present a topic they chose.

A Jehanabad child arriving at an English-medium primary from a Hindi-medium start is helped most by daily read-aloud time and simple English conversation.

MYPClass 6 to Class 10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Teachers mark against clear criteria for each subject and expect students to plan, investigate and reflect. A Personal Project finishes the programme in its last year.

Students used to Bihar Board question papers often know a great deal but need practice writing an argument in their own words.

DPClass 11 and 12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Six subject courses are combined with Theory of Knowledge, a 4,000-word Extended Essay and service work. Exams take place in May, and coursework is marked inside the school and moderated by the IB.

A Jehanabad student joining a Diploma school elsewhere will meet essay marking, coursework deadlines and oral exams all in the first term.

CPClass 11 and 12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

A smaller set of Diploma courses is mixed with career-related learning, language development and a reflective project, for students with a practical direction in mind.

We do not know of any Career-related cohort near Jehanabad, so support here means the same subject teaching described elsewhere on this page.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Jehanabad school timetables

Jehanabad has no home visits from IB Gram tutors, so the three arrangements below are all online. The best fit depends on whether a family wants ongoing subject help, a full IGCSE plan, or preparation before a move.

Ongoing weekly lessons

A fixed slot each week with one tutor, usually an hour. The tutor checks last week's task, teaches a new idea and leaves a short practice set for the days before the next lesson.

  • Runs beside school, and beside coaching in Patna if the child already attends
  • One tutor throughout, so knowledge gaps are remembered
  • More sessions can be added before mocks and internal deadlines
  • A written note after every lesson

IGCSE as a private candidate

A structured course built on the exam board's specification, with past papers set on a calendar and guidance on registering through an approved centre.

  • For students whose school offers no IGCSE
  • Cambridge exams in May-June and October-November
  • Edexcel exams in January and May-June
  • Written alternatives to practical papers explained in advance

Bridge lessons before joining an international school

A concentrated run of lessons in Maths, English and Science for a student about to join an IB or IGCSE school in Patna, Kolkata or Delhi NCR.

  • Translates board-style answers into criteria-style writing
  • Builds spoken English in academic settings
  • Often held in the summer holidays
  • Length set by how much needs to change

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Jehanabad

01

Is Patna close enough to make online IB or IGCSE tutoring unnecessary?

Patna is around seventy kilometres from Jehanabad, and for many families it is the natural place for coaching, hospitals and higher education. It would be reasonable to assume that international-curriculum help is equally close. In practice it is not, because the capital's coaching market is built for JEE, NEET and Bihar Board results.

Even where a teacher in Patna offers IGCSE or IB lessons, a Jehanabad student would face a round trip of several hours several times a week. Add the winter fog and the summer heat and it becomes a heavy burden on a teenager who is also handling school. Online lessons remove the road from the equation.

There is a second reason. The specialist a student needs may not be in Patna at all. A tutor who has taught IB Chemistry HL for years could be in Pune or Chennai. Online delivery lets us pick from tutors across India and match to the course, not to the postcode.

None of this rules out Patna for other purposes. A student might continue local school and coaching for entrance tests, and take one or two IB or IGCSE subjects online on Sunday mornings. The online lesson fits in a week that already contains a commute.

02

Where does the money go in IB or IGCSE tuition for a Jehanabad family?

  • Rate follows subject, level, tutor experience and frequency
  • No travel or premises cost is added, since lessons are online
  • Fee written down before the free trial
  • Pause or stop at any review point

No sensible fee can be quoted without knowing the subject and level. IB Physics HL taught by someone who has examined it is a different service from IGCSE Core English, and the fees reflect that. We share the number after a conversation, and always in writing.

The single biggest factor is the scarcity of the specialist. In Jehanabad there are very few people who have taught either curriculum. Because we bring in tutors from across India, that scarcity is spread out. The family pays for the teacher's expertise, not for petrol, a room or a franchise.

The second factor is intensity. One hour a week for a student who is comfortable costs less across a year than daily lessons in the month before the May exams. Most families start light and scale up when mocks approach. We help pick the lightest plan that fits the goal.

A batch in Patna may cost less per hour, but the comparison misses the point. A batch teaches everyone at once and moves at a common speed. A one-to-one lesson is built around the student's own errors, which is why fewer hours can achieve more. There is no contract and plans are reviewed every few weeks.

03

Loo, Chhath and the Bihar Board: how the calendar shapes lessons in Jehanabad

Bihar's year is a series of pressures. Board exams cluster in February and March, the heat and dry winds of May and June make midday study almost impossible, and the monsoon between June and September brings both relief and disruption. A tutor's schedule for a Jehanabad student has to fit that year.

Chhath in October or November is the single biggest pause. Preparations begin days before, and relatives return from other states. Most families ask for no lessons for the festival week. Teej, Jitiya and Durga Puja bring shorter breaks, and Holi in March can collide with board revision.

In the hottest weeks we move lessons to the early morning or late evening. In winter, fog can slow roads, but it rarely affects online lessons. The exception is the occasional power cut, which is why we keep a reserve slot each week and a mobile hotspot is a sensible backup.

International exam dates sit on top of all this. Cambridge runs in May-June and October-November, Edexcel in January and May-June, and IB Diploma exams start in early May. Students who sit those papers alongside Bihar Board exams need an especially careful plan, and we build it with them.

04

Bihar Board, CBSE, IGCSE and IB: which route makes sense from Jehanabad?

The Bihar Board and CBSE dominate the district, and both connect straight to entrance tests and to a well-worn coaching path through Patna and Kota. Families know these routes, trust them and can find help for them without difficulty.

IGCSE and IB are a different kind of preparation. IGCSE is a subject-based qualification, mostly taken around Class 10, whose papers ask students to explain and apply. IB Diploma is a broader, two-year course, with a research essay and coursework. They lead to A-Levels, the IB, and universities in India and abroad.

The right route depends on the student's goal. A family focused on IIT or a government medical seat may prefer to stay with CBSE or the state route. A family thinking about overseas study, or a transfer to an international school, gains from starting IGCSE or IB habits earlier.

Many families do both, taking one or two IGCSE or IB subjects online while the child remains in the local school. That keeps every option open and costs less than a move.

05

What can a Jehanabad student aim for after IB or IGCSE?

  • AIU equivalence for the IB Diploma
  • CUET-UG for central universities
  • JEE and NEET rules to be verified yearly
  • Overseas applications need predicted grades and references

The Association of Indian Universities recognises the IB Diploma as equal to Class 12, so Indian universities that accept it are open. Central universities typically ask for CUET-UG, and private universities in Bihar, Delhi and elsewhere set their own conditions.

Engineering aspirants have several choices. NIT Patna and IIT Patna are the closest national institutes, and entry depends on JEE Main and current subject rules. IB students need to confirm that their six subjects satisfy those conditions before they finalise them.

Medicine is stricter still. NEET-UG asks for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with set minimum marks, and rules are updated from time to time. IB students who plan for medicine should keep Biology and Chemistry, and check the notice from the National Testing Agency every year.

Overseas, IB and A-Level results are read in the UK, US, Canada, Australia and Europe. Applications need predicted grades, teacher references and often an English test. A private IGCSE candidate should begin thinking about these steps early, so nothing is missing at the deadline.

06

Which parts of IB Maths and the sciences cost students the most marks?

Start with the Mathematics choice. Analysis and Approaches suits students who like algebra, calculus and proofs, and it is expected for most engineering and pure-science degrees. Applications and Interpretation emphasises statistics and modelling with technology, and it suits commerce and biology-based courses.

In Physics the problem is often communication. A student might calculate the right value and still lose marks by leaving out units or ignoring uncertainty. Chemistry needs accurate use of the data booklet and clear mechanism drawing. Biology needs paragraphs that connect claims to evidence.

Higher Level Mathematics adds Paper 3, with extended, unfamiliar problems. Students used to short, drill-based questions find them slow at first. The remedy is regular timed practice on questions the student has not seen before.

Internal Assessments carry marks in every subject and must be the student's own work. Tutors explain the criteria, question the plan and discuss presentation, but they do not draft. Starting the topic in the first term leaves time to fix weaknesses.

07

Can a Jehanabad student sit IGCSE exams without a school teaching it?

Yes, as a private candidate, and many students do. The main hurdle is administrative. Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel exams are held at approved centres, and the nearest to Jehanabad may be in Patna or another large city. Registration deadlines are firm, and fees are set by the centre and the board.

Practical science needs a decision. Some syllabuses include a hands-on paper, and others offer a written alternative to practical. Private candidates usually take the alternative. A tutor can prepare a student for it using real experiment data on screen and questions on planning, observation and analysis.

Subject choice deserves thought. English and Mathematics form a sound core, with one or two sciences and perhaps Hindi. Extended tier is necessary for the top grades, and Core caps the mark, so a student aiming high should prepare for Extended from the beginning.

Younger students can start with one subject. A Class 8 student who begins IGCSE Mathematics with a weekly hour gains a useful head start, and the skill transfers into every later route, whether Bihar Board, CBSE or IB.

08

What should a parent in Jehanabad check before booking online lessons?

First, the internet. A stable broadband or mobile signal is the most important requirement. Try a video call at the hour lessons would run, and note any drops. A phone hotspot is a helpful backup, especially in the rural blocks.

Second, the device. A laptop is best, and a tablet with a stylus is also good for handwriting on the shared board. A phone alone is workable in an emergency but tiring for a full lesson. A quiet corner with a table matters more than expensive equipment.

Third, the goal. Be clear about whether the aim is a single subject, a full IGCSE plan or preparation for a school move, and share the exam date. That lets us pick the right tutor at the outset and avoid a mismatch after several weeks.

Finally, ask for the fee in writing and for a free trial lesson. Both are standard with IB Gram, and neither commits you to anything. A good trial shows how the tutor explains, listens and corrects, and that is the best guide to a good match.

Where we tutor

Jehanabad town, blocks and nearby areas we teach online

A lesson is delivered by video, so location matters only for timing and signal. These are the parts of the district families mention when they contact us, with practical notes on daily rhythm.

Jehanabad Station Road

The busiest stretch of town, close to the railway line towards Patna and Gaya, where many families commute for coaching and study late.

Court and Civil Lines area

The district's administrative quarter, with officials and lawyers' families who often move postings and want a curriculum that transfers.

Sadar Hospital Road

A central residential road where medical and teaching families live, with children who often set their sights on NEET or overseas study.

NH83 and Patna Road side

Homes along the highway towards Patna, from which some students already travel to the capital for classes.

Gaya Road side

Neighbourhoods on the southern approach, with a mix of school-going children and family businesses.

Makhdumpur

The block town near the Barabar hills, a busy market centre whose families rely on the Jehanabad road for schooling and services.

Kako

A historic town with a well-known dargah, where families often use Jehanabad as their nearest larger school town.

Ghosi and Hulasganj

Blocks with agricultural households, where paddy and wheat seasons can shape the study calendar.

Modanganj and Ratni Faridpur

Rural blocks where a steady mobile or broadband signal is the main thing to check before beginning online lessons.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Jehanabad

Jehanabad and Magadh

We could not confirm an IB or Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE school in Jehanabad, Arwal or the immediate area. Local schools follow the Bihar Board or CBSE, so most families who want these curricula study with a private tutor.

    Nearby: Danapur, Patna

Roughly 70 kilometres away, one Danapur school is the nearest we could confirm offering Cambridge IGCSE at Grade 10 alongside a CBSE stream. Local options are limited, so this suits families willing to relocate within Patna.

    • Vidya Sanskar School

    Nearby: Kolkata

A long train ride east, Kolkata has established schools in international curricula and is where some Magadh families look for boarding.

    • Calcutta International School

    Nearby: Delhi NCR

Delhi NCR has the widest choice in the north, and many families with relatives in the capital region start their search there.

    • The British School, New Delhi
    • Pathways World School, Gurugram

Any school named on this page is mentioned only to show where these curricula can be found outside Jehanabad. IB Gram is independent and has no partnership, sponsorship or affiliation with those schools, the IB organisation, Cambridge or Pearson. Please confirm what any school currently offers by contacting it directly.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Jehanabad: your questions answered

Are there IB and IGCSE tutors for students in Jehanabad?+

Yes, IB Gram provides IB and IGCSE tutors to Jehanabad students online. They do not live in the district or visit homes, but they teach live, one-to-one, over video. As we found no school in Jehanabad teaching either curriculum, choosing a specialist by syllabus and level is the realistic route to proper subject help.

Can a tutor come to our house in Jehanabad?+

No, tutors do not visit homes in Jehanabad. Home visits run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. Our alternative is online home tuition, which means private one-to-one lessons that the student takes from home on a laptop. You keep the personal attention, a shared whiteboard, written solutions and a note afterwards, without travel.

Where is the nearest IB or IGCSE school to Jehanabad?+

The nearest we could confirm is Vidya Sanskar School in Danapur, Patna, roughly 70 kilometres away, which teaches Cambridge IGCSE at Grade 10 alongside CBSE. We did not confirm an IB school nearby. Kolkata and Delhi NCR have more choices. Please check each school's own website before relying on any of them.

What does IB or IGCSE tuition cost in Jehanabad?+

It depends on the subject, the level, the tutor's experience and how many lessons a week you want, so we do not publish fixed prices. Higher Level sciences and Maths usually cost more than IGCSE Core English. You will see the rate in writing before the free trial, and there is no lock-in if you decide to stop.

Is IGCSE possible at home without a school for it?+

Yes. A student studies with a tutor and registers for Cambridge or Edexcel exams as a private candidate through an approved centre, which may be in Patna or a larger city. Practical papers need planning, and many private candidates use the written alternative. Begin enquiries at least six months before the sitting, since deadlines are strict.

Would a Bihar Board student find IB or IGCSE too hard?+

It is different rather than harder. State-board students often have strong content knowledge, but IGCSE and IB ask them to explain, evaluate and apply in writing. A short bridge in Maths, English and one science, plus practice on past papers, usually closes the gap in a few months. The IB Diploma itself requires joining an IB school.

How do IB and IGCSE fit with JEE and NEET plans?+

They can fit, with care. The AIU treats the IB Diploma as equivalent to Class 12, but JEE Main and NEET-UG list subject conditions that change over time. A student should read the current notice from the testing agency and keep the required subjects. Many families use IGCSE only for one or two subjects alongside the local route.

Will the tutor write my IA, Extended Essay or TOK essay?+

No. Tutors coach and never write or edit internal assessments, Extended Essays, TOK essays or coursework. They can explain the marking criteria, test your reasoning and help you organise time. Whatever you hand in has to be entirely your own, as the IB and exam boards require, and that protects the result you earn.

What equipment and internet do we need?+

A laptop or large tablet, a steady internet connection and a quiet spot are enough. A phone hotspot is a useful backup for power cuts or network drops. We use a shared whiteboard, so a stylus or a phone camera for showing handwritten work helps but is not essential. Test a video call at lesson time before the trial.

    When are lessons scheduled?+

Most Jehanabad students take lessons after school on weekday evenings and on Sunday mornings. Tutors teach on Indian Standard Time, so there is no time difference. We move lessons to early morning in peak summer, avoid Chhath week and adapt around Bihar Board exams if you tell us in advance.

Which IGCSE exam sessions are relevant?+

Cambridge runs its main series in May-June and October-November, and Pearson Edexcel in January and May-June. Entry is through an approved exam centre, with deadlines and fees set by the board and the centre. Students in Jehanabad should contact a centre in Patna or another city well ahead, since places and dates can be limited.

Is the first lesson really free?+

Yes. The trial is free and carries no obligation. The student works with a shortlisted tutor over video on a real topic from their syllabus, and the parent can watch. Only after that do we send the rate in writing. If the fit is wrong, we suggest a different tutor and repeat the process.

Can lessons be explained in Hindi?+

The exams are in English, so tutors teach mainly in English, yet many can explain a tricky idea in Hindi first. We also offer IB Hindi A and Hindi B and IGCSE Hindi as a second language. Mention any preference in your first message and we will look for a tutor who suits it.

My child is in Class 7. Should we wait?+

There is no need to wait. For Classes 6 to 8 the aim is strong Maths, reading and writing, plus an introduction to criteria-style questions. Lessons are shorter, often forty-five minutes, and a parent can join. These habits make IGCSE or IB easier later, and they help in Bihar Board and CBSE classes too.

    How do we get started?+

Message us on WhatsApp at +91 7439 368 115 or email support@ibgram.com with your child's class, board or programme, subject and exam date. We reply with a tutor suggestion and set up the free trial. You will see the fee in writing first, and we review the plan together after a few weeks.

Is IB Gram connected to any school or board?+

No. IB Gram is independent and has no affiliation with the IB, Cambridge, Pearson or any school named on this page. Schools appear only to show where these curricula are taught. Please verify any school's current offering directly, and use the official IB and Cambridge directories before making a decision.

Send the class, the subject and the exam you are aiming for. We will suggest a tutor who has taught that course, run a live trial lesson and put the fee in writing before anything is agreed. The road to Patna stays out of it, and the lesson happens at your own desk.
