If the first session was pure teaching with no assessment, ask why.

Recording depends on the tutor and the platform used, so agree it before the first session rather than assuming. Many students find recordings useful for revisiting a worked method later. Parents sitting in is fine, and for younger students we encourage it early on, though most fifteen and sixteen-year-olds work better without an audience once the arrangement is settled.
