Ask what they consider a realistic subject load for the hours you have. Clear, quick answers indicate current experience. Long, general answers about passion for teaching indicate the opposite.

Source questions reward inference and attention to who produced a source and why, and a student who summarises the source instead of using it earns very little. Longer questions reward an argument that is directed at the actual question, supported by specific detail, with a judgement rather than a list. Confident talkers often write everything they know and hope the marker finds the answer inside it. Revision has to begin during the winter term rather than after it, mock timing compresses, and the useful preparation window overlaps with school holidays.
