IB and IGCSE Tutors and Online Home Tuition in Qadian

Qadian, in the Majha belt, has a long schooling record and many relatives overseas. IB and IGCSE home tuition here means a live video class: a private tutor, one student, your own table. No tutor drives from Amritsar to a Qadian house; in-person visits run only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. Give us the subject and exam month and the first class is a free trial.

  • A free first class, so the decision rests on what you have seen
  • A tutor with real experience of your child's own IB paper or IGCSE code, not a one-size teacher of the subject
  • Teaching is entirely online in Qadian; nobody visits homes, because in-person tuition runs only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • A short note after every class, in everyday English, for parents following from home or from overseas

IB & IGCSE in Qadian

IB and IGCSE tutors for Qadian, a Gurdaspur town with a school tradition older than the state

Qadian is a municipal council town in Gurdaspur district, about 18 km north-east of Batala and 55 km from Amritsar by the old branch railway, whose station opened in 1928. The 2011 census recorded 23,632 residents, with Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims and Christians all present, and Punjabi spoken at home by the great majority, alongside Urdu and Hindi. The town is widely known as the birthplace of the Ahmadiyya movement, and its Aqsa Mosque and Minaret-ul-Masih are landmarks.

Education has deep roots in Qadian. Talim-ul-Islam High School was founded in 1889, the college that followed became the Sikh National College after Partition, and Nusrat Girls High School and Jamia Ahmadiyya Qadian serve the town today. Teaching follows the Punjab School Education Board and CBSE. We found no Qadian school offering the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE; the closest confirmed campuses are in Amritsar, Ludhiana and the Mohali-Chandigarh area.

Families in the Majha belt often have close relatives in Canada, the UK or Australia, and study abroad is a normal household ambition. A parent who hears that overseas universities read IB and IGCSE results without translation may wonder how to begin. Online tuition answers that: a tutor who has taught the syllabus joins by video, and the child starts before any move or application.

A note on us: IB Gram is independent and has no link to the IB, Cambridge, Pearson or any school on this page. Tutors teach, set practice and mark. Writing or rewording an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay or coursework is something they never do, since such work must be the student's own.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Qadian school years

No Qadian school is known to teach any IB programme. Families meet them through a plan to settle in Amritsar or Chandigarh, a cousin abroad, or a student's own wish to study overseas, and the notes below follow those paths.

PYPAges 3-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Young children learn through inquiry units that cross subject lines, then present a self-directed Exhibition in Grade 5. There is no public exam. A tutor strengthens reading, early number work and the knack of asking a question that can be investigated.

A Qadian parent raises the PYP when a young child may soon join a school in Amritsar, Chandigarh or abroad.

MYPAges 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

The MYP grades each subject on four criteria and ends with a Personal Project. The coaching task is moving a student from a correct fact to a reasoned, evaluated answer, which is exactly what the criteria reward.

A student from a Punjabi-medium Class 7 or 8 who enters an MYP class elsewhere gains most from English academic writing beforehand.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects across two years, three at Higher Level, plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS. Written papers fall mainly in May, and the internal assessments count towards each subject grade.

Diploma students from Gurdaspur district usually board or study in Chandigarh, Mohali or Delhi and want a specialist in the holidays.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

A small pathway that puts DP courses next to career-related study and a reflective project. Few Indian schools run it, so most requests turn out to be about the Diploma courses it includes.

CP is almost never raised in Qadian; if it is, the practical need is DP subject teaching.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Punjab Board and CBSE students tend to arrive with accurate calculation and quick recall, and less practice at writing long answers in English. So we pair by course and level and then look at how a student builds an argument on paper. Name the exact paper and we find tutors who have taught it.

IB Punjabi A (where a school-supported route exists)

SL / HL

For students whose home language is Punjabi, with close reading, literary analysis and the individual oral.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Bonding, kinetics, equilibrium and organic chemistry, with data-booklet speed and exact definitions.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Theory applied to a case, well suited to families in trading, transport and small manufacturing.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Resources, hazards and change; river flooding, groundwater decline and migration are strong local case studies.

IB Hindi B

SL / HL

A language-acquisition course for students building examined Hindi from a Punjabi-speaking base.

IB Biology

HL / SL

Cells through ecology, tested by command terms. Wetlands and farmland of the Majha plain offer fieldwork ideas.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Data, probability and modelling with technology; marks come from explaining what a result means.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Algorithms, programming and databases, with a solution project that rewards a steady weekly routine.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Calculus, functions, vectors and proof for future engineers and scientists. At HL, Paper 3 pays patience on unfamiliar problems.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Mechanics to nuclear physics with a self-designed investigation. Students used to numerical drill learn to explain concepts in words.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

Discussion-led sessions on how knowledge is built, shaping the exhibition and the essay.

IB History

HL / SL

Source evaluation and essays across prescribed topics, helped by the region's rich twentieth-century history.

IB Environmental Systems & Societies

SL / HL

Systems thinking about water, soil and crop residue burning, issues that Punjab students know first-hand.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Markets, policy and development, with live examples such as wheat procurement, remittances and migration.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Unseen text analysis, comparison and an oral. Punjabi and Urdu speakers refine a formal written register.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

Cambridge (CAIE) and Pearson Edexcel both award IGCSEs, but their codes, tiers and papers do not line up. We settle the board and the sitting first, because Cambridge in India examines in March, May-June and October-November while Edexcel examines in January, May-June and October.

IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core / Extended

Algebra, geometry, trigonometry, number and statistics. Extended opens the way to science and IB Maths.

IGCSE Biology 0610

Core / Extended

Cells, inheritance, ecosystems and human physiology, answered in the format examiners reward.

IGCSE Computer Science 0478

Grade 9-10

Computational thinking, binary, networks and short programs.

IGCSE English as a Second Language 0510

Core / Extended

A recognised English certificate for Punjabi-medium students aiming at A Level or the IB.

IGCSE Physics 0625

Core / Extended

Forces, heat, waves, electricity and atoms, plus the practical-skills paper.

IGCSE Business Studies 0450

Grade 9-10

Business concepts applied to case material, then a short argued judgement.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Grade 10

Calculus and deeper algebra as a bridge to IB Maths AA.

IGCSE Chemistry 0620

Core / Extended

Moles, bonding, rates of reaction and organic chemistry, with experiment planning on paper.

Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics A 4MA1

Foundation / Higher

Worded and arranged unlike the Cambridge paper, so Edexcel past papers are used throughout.

IGCSE Economics 0455

Grade 9-10

Core economic ideas, then data response and evaluation.

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Qadian

01

Majha families, overseas cousins and the IB: who asks in Qadian?

  • Students aiming at overseas universities
  • Children who want stronger English-medium habits
  • Households planning a move to Amritsar or Chandigarh
  • Families with relatives in Canada, the UK or Australia

Gurdaspur district sits in the Majha region of Punjab, a landscape of wheat and paddy fields, old market towns and a strong habit of sending young people abroad. Almost every family has a branch in Canada, the UK, Australia, Germany or the Gulf, and the question of how a child will qualify for a foreign university is discussed early.

In Qadian that conversation has a particular flavour. The town values formal education, with schools that date back to the 1880s and a literacy rate above the state average. Parents are used to long hours of study and to exams with clear marking. The IB and IGCSE look different, since they reward written explanation and independent projects, and many parents want to know what they are before deciding.

Because no school in town teaches either programme, a family can move, board the child in a bigger city or arrange private study. Private study: follow an IGCSE syllabus with a tutor and sit as an outside candidate, or prepare IB subjects ahead of a transfer to Amritsar or Chandigarh.

Here is the catch. The IB Diploma must be taken through a registered school. No tutor can supply a lab or a classroom of peers. What a tutor does supply is subject strength, exam skill and ease with English.

02

Punjab Board, CBSE, IGCSE or IB: which suits a Qadian student?

The Punjab School Education Board runs Class 10 and Class 12 exams, normally in February and March, using textbooks that follow NCERT in many subjects. CBSE offers a national pattern linked to JEE and NEET. The IGCSE and IB come from international bodies and reward written explanation, practical skill and a wider choice of subjects.

IGCSE runs across Classes 9 and 10, one subject at a time, in tiers. The IB Diploma lasts two years, six subjects plus the Extended Essay and TOK. A fair number of students do IGCSE first and then pick the IB, A Level or Class 11.

The deciding factor is the child's likely next address. Staying in Punjab, the state board or CBSE leads most directly to state and national entrance exams. Planning to study in Canada, the UK or Australia, an international record is easier for admissions offices to read.

Private lessons let a child try an international subject without leaving the present school, which gives the family evidence before a major decision.

03

What goes into the fee for IB or IGCSE tuition in Qadian?

  • Time before the exam
  • Lessons each week
  • Subject and level
  • Tutor experience with the syllabus

A price list would be misleading, so we do not publish one. When the free trial ends you receive a written quote for your child's actual course, and that figure is what you weigh.

What decides the rate? Subject and level, lessons per week, the tutor's history with this syllabus and how soon the exam arrives. HL science with a veteran tutor costs more than Core IGCSE Business.

Lessons online remove the costs a Qadian family would otherwise meet for coaching in Batala or Amritsar: bus or train fares, a lost afternoon, sometimes a night away. They also open a pool of tutors that covers the whole country.

Judge the trial by results: does the tutor find the real gap, explain it plainly and set sensible work? If not, we put forward another tutor.

04

Is an Amritsar or Batala coaching class a substitute for online IB and IGCSE tuition?

Coaching in Amritsar and Batala is strong, but it is directed at board exams, JEE, NEET and IELTS. None that we know of focuses on how IB or IGCSE papers are marked, so students learn content and miss the examiners' habits.

A tutor round the corner can be fine at school subjects and yet unsure how IB examiners split method marks or how Extended IGCSE questions are worded.

Learning by video from someone who knows the syllabus saves the journey. The price is dependence on electricity and broadband, which fog, storms and floods sometimes disturb. A hotspot and a readiness to reschedule come with it.

A typical mix: school and coaching for Punjab Board papers, one video class weekly for the international subject, past papers between classes.

How do exam dates meet Punjab's fog, harvests and festivals in Qadian?

Diploma papers: mainly May, results in July. IGCSE in India: Cambridge sits in March, May-June and October-November; Edexcel in January, May-June and October. The school or centre where your child is registered says which one applies.

Punjab's seasons are sharp. December and January bring thick fog and cold, with late trains and dark mornings. April and May are hot, with the wheat harvest in full swing, and the monsoon in July and August can flood low fields and disturb power. Paddy transplanting and harvest fill the farm calendar.

Festivals fill the year too. Lohri in January, Baisakhi in April, Gurpurab in autumn, Diwali, Dussehra and the Eids, as well as Christmas, all bring family time. Communities in Qadian also keep their own gatherings and holidays. We avoid hard revision on those days.

Our planning begins at the exam and works in reverse: a diagnostic, teaching, timed papers, a closing review. Storms and fog get a buffer.

06

Where can a Qadian IB or IGCSE student study afterwards?

Indian degree admission usually asks for AIU equivalence alongside the IB Diploma, and lots of universities choose students through CUET-UG, so subject choices need to match the target course. Engineering routes (JEE Main and counselling) change often; trust only the current brochure.

Medical admission through NEET-UG requires Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English at the senior-secondary level. In Punjab, some seats go by domicile. IB or A Level students must also provide equivalence certificates.

Within India, students look at Chandigarh, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Delhi. Abroad, the long-standing Punjabi links to Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and the USA make those the first destinations families discuss, with Germany and Singapore following.

Once IGCSE is done the paths are A Level, the IB Diploma and Class 11. What you keep at Class 10 shapes what stays open. Tutors explain how the pieces fit and cannot guarantee a seat.

07

IB Maths and the sciences: what good preparation involves

IB Maths has two flavours: Analysis and Approaches (algebra, calculus, proof) and Applications and Interpretation (data, modelling). Both run at HL and SL. A first diagnostic class normally shows which is the better fit.

Punjab Board and CBSE students are usually fast and accurate. The IB also expects justification and interpretation, so lessons include working written out in full sentences and a timed paper every second week.

Each science includes an Internal Assessment done alone. A tutor can discuss what makes a workable question, how to organise results and what a fair evaluation sounds like. The report itself is the student's. Where a lab is out of reach, simulations and open data fill the gap.

The right word earns the mark in Chemistry and Biology, so tutors practise mark-scheme wording.

08

Choosing IGCSE tiers and subjects in Qadian

  • Match subjects to the likely stream
  • Run a diagnostic before choosing a tier
  • Confirm the exam centre early
  • Plan lessons around the exam series

Lots of IGCSE subjects come in two tiers (Core and Extended at Cambridge; Foundation and Higher at Edexcel). Settle for the lower tier and there is a cap on the grade. Aim for the upper tier and every grade is possible, which also matches the demands of A Level or IB HL later.

An early diagnostic class settles the tier. Extended Mathematics beside Core English is an entirely ordinary pairing.

Subject choice follows the goal. Engineers: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry (Additional Mathematics if possible). Commerce: Economics, Business Studies. Technology: Computer Science.

Outside entries go through an approved exam centre, probably in Amritsar, Chandigarh or Delhi. Decide the centre and the series first; set the lesson plan around the entry date.

Where we tutor

Qadian neighbourhoods and nearby places we teach online

Lessons are on screen, so places matter as context: where the old town lanes are, which families commute to Batala or Amritsar, and where mobile data is the only connection. Qadian is compact, with villages close on every side.

Batala

The larger town about 18 km away, with more coaching, more private schools and a bigger market.

Qadian old town and bazaar

The historic core around the market and the older mosques and temples, with long-settled families of several faiths.

Nusrat Girls High School area

A neighbourhood tied to girls' education in the town, with many families keen on English-medium options.

Gurdaspur

The district headquarters, with government offices and the wider district coaching market.

Farm belt villages

Villages on the surrounding Majha plain where wheat and paddy set the pace and mobile data can be the only connection.

School and college quarter

The area around the older high schools and the Sikh National College, with a strong tuition habit after school.

Near the railway station

Households around the 1928 station, used by families who travel to Batala and Amritsar for work and study.

Near the Aqsa Mosque and Minaret-ul-Masih

The best-known landmark area, with a large community whose calendar centres on its own gatherings and holidays.

Amritsar

The nearest large city, with international schools, hospitals and flight connections for families abroad.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Qadian

Nearby: Amritsar

Amritsar is the closest big city, about 55 km away by rail, and the natural first look for Qadian families.

  • Invictus International School
  • International Fateh Academy

Nearby: Mohali and Chandigarh

The tricity is where many Majha families consider IB and Cambridge schools, for day or boarding places.

  • Oakridge International School, Mohali
  • The British School, Chandigarh

Qadian: keeping the home school

Most students keep their Punjab Board or CBSE school and layer online IB or IGCSE subject lessons on top, often preparing for a move.

Our checks found no IB, Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE school in Qadian or Gurdaspur district, so no school appears in the strip. The campuses below are in Amritsar and the Mohali-Chandigarh area, the nearest we could confirm; ask each school about its current programme. IB Gram has no tie to any school, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Qadian: your questions answered

Can an IB student appear for JEE or NEET from Punjab?+

Maybe. Eligibility is set year by year and subject by subject, so read the latest official notice. NEET-UG asks for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English; a number of state seats go by domicile; JEE publishes its own equivalence terms. Email the authority with your child's exact IB subject list before registering.

Is there any IB or IGCSE teaching available in Qadian itself?+

No local provider we can vouch for, so lessons are online. Qadian schools offer the Punjab Board and CBSE and no IB or IGCSE campus exists in Qadian or Gurdaspur district. A specialist elsewhere who has taught your child's syllabus is matched to them, and the class runs by video with a shared whiteboard.

Do overseas universities read IB and IGCSE results easily?+

Generally yes, because both qualifications are international and admissions offices in Canada, the UK, Australia and elsewhere know them well. Entry rules still differ by country, course and year, so check each university's published requirements. A tutor can help with the subject side, not with applications or visas.

Does winter fog affect online lessons?+

Dense fog seldom breaks an internet connection, but storms and cold snaps can take out power. Keep the laptop charged, keep a hotspot ready and leave one weekly slot open. A class that drops out is moved to another day and practice questions follow.

Can my child study Punjabi in the IB?+

In some cases. The IB treats Punjabi as a school-supported language A, which depends on the school or route being able to support it, while Hindi is widely available as a language course. Daily Punjabi is a real head start, and sessions turn it into exam skill. A specialist is confirmed during matching.

Cambridge or Edexcel: which IGCSE board should we pick?+

Choosing a board is not choosing between good and bad. Cambridge and Edexcel examine related content through different papers, tiers and exam windows. Your school or exam centre may have decided already. If not, ask a tutor to give your child one past paper from each and compare how they felt.

    How do we begin?+

Easy: message +91 7439 368 115 on WhatsApp, or email support@ibgram.com. Give the year or class, the board or IB programme, the subject, the level and the exam month. Expect a tutor profile soon after, then a trial class booked for a time your household likes. Bring a laptop, earphones and a scientific calculator.

Can a tutor help with my IA or Extended Essay?+

Tutors here are coaches. They can unpack a marking criterion, talk through how to narrow a research question and comment on a draft that you wrote. They cannot and will not produce, polish or reword any piece of an IA, Extended Essay, TOK essay or coursework. Authorship rules are strict and the student would carry the consequences.

How much does IB or IGCSE tuition cost for a Qadian student?+

We do not keep a price list. The trial class is followed by a written rate that depends on subject and level, weekly hours, the tutor's depth in that syllabus and the exam date. No fares to Batala or Amritsar are involved, since lessons are online.

How long before the exam should lessons begin?+

Ideal lead time: a year for Higher Level, and a year for IGCSE Mathematics or a science. If your child already knows the material and only loses marks to speed, eight weeks of timed papers may do. During the last month there is time to repair weak spots, and no time to learn something new.

Do you teach PYP and MYP students from Qadian?+

Yes. Primary pupils get reading practice, number games and help turning a hunch into a question for their Exhibition. Middle-years students get coaching on writing to each criterion, laying out mathematics clearly and mapping the Personal Project week by week. Qadian has no school offering either, so we adapt to your plan, whether that is a move or a distance enrolment.

Will IGCSE count for admission in Punjab?+

Treat an IGCSE as a Class 10 result. After it comes Class 11, A Level or the IB, and only then a degree application. Each university sets its own entry and equivalence rules. A tutor can suggest which subjects keep doors open, never promise a place.

Is this page about Qadian in Gurdaspur or a place called Iadian?+

This page is for Qadian, the municipal council town in Gurdaspur district, Punjab. Our town list shows the name as Iadian, which appears to be a misprint of Qadian, and we have written the page for the real town. If you are in a different Punjab town, you can still use the same online service.

Can a Qadian student take IGCSE as a private candidate?+

Often. Cambridge and Edexcel accept outside candidates at approved centres, and from Qadian the likely ones are in Amritsar, Chandigarh or Delhi. Coursework and practical rules differ by subject, so read the syllabus. We teach the written and alternative-to-practical papers online. Entry forms, fees and the exam day belong to the family and the centre.

Will a tutor visit our house in Qadian?+

Not in Qadian. Visits to the house are something we do only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. Here you get the next best thing: private home tuition on a screen. The child works at their own desk, the tutor appears by video and a shared board holds the working. You need a laptop and a decent link. You gain a wide choice of tutors and spare the family the road to Batala or Amritsar.
