IB & IGCSE in Faridkot

Who asks for IB and IGCSE tuition in Faridkot, and why

Anyone typing private tuition or home tuition for IB and IGCSE into a search bar in Faridkot will find plenty of Punjab board and CBSE options and very little that names an international syllabus. We cannot confirm an IB school or a Cambridge or Edexcel centre inside the city. That is the gap our online tutors fill, teaching live, privately and one student at a time.

The questions reach us from a clear set of households. Doctors and faculty linked to the medical college and the health sciences university often move between cities and want a child's qualification to travel. Landowning and trading families in the Malwa belt want an international route for children who may study in Canada or Australia. Some parents simply want their child to write and reason more freely than rote board exams encourage.

We want to be direct about format. In-person home tuition runs only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR, so in Faridkot your child learns at a laptop in their own room, with a tutor on video who marks working live on a shared page.

IB Gram is independent of the IB, Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel and every school mentioned on this page. Tutors explain and coach. They do not produce an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay or IGCSE coursework on a student's behalf.

At a glance

  • No IB or IGCSE school confirmed inside Faridkot
  • Live, private online lessons; no tutor visits in this city
  • Planning built around fog, stubble-smoke weeks and the Punjab school calendar
  • A free trial lesson, a note after every class and a simple tutor swap
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Faridkot school years

In a city without an IB campus, each programme reaches Faridkot through a slightly different doorway. A student may be home from a boarding school in Dehradun or Mohali, preparing for an overseas move, or starting an international track as a private learner. These notes describe what each stage looks like here.

PYPClass 1-5, ages 6-11

IB Primary Years Programme

Inquiry units built around themes such as how we express ourselves, ending in the student-led PYP Exhibition. Tutors mostly support fluent reading, number work and the habit of asking good questions.

Faridkot PYP cases are usually a child whose family has recently returned from abroad and wants the same style of learning to continue while they decide on a school.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against criteria, plus service learning and a Personal Project. Students often know the facts but write them up in a way that misses the criterion.

A student moving from a Punjabi-medium or bilingual school into MYP-style English writing is the commonest Faridkot story, and it needs patient work on written structure.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

Three HL and three SL subjects with the Extended Essay, TOK and CAS. The exam session is in May, and a November session exists for some candidates.

Faridkot DP students typically board in Mohali or further away, then look for subject tutoring during holidays and before mocks, when the school timetable cannot slow down.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

Two or more DP courses alongside a career-related qualification, a reflective project and skills for work and study.

Very few CP enquiries arrive from Faridkot; when one does, tutoring focuses on the DP courses inside the pathway.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Faridkot school timetables

There is one delivery format in Faridkot, live video, but families use it in three different ways depending on how much teaching the student needs.

Steady weekly support

A single weekly hour in one subject, good for a student whose boarding school teaches the content and who needs clear explanation of weak areas.

  • Same weekday and time
  • Homework reviewed before each class
  • Summary note emailed afterwards

Intensive course teaching

Two to three lessons a week for a student whose school offers limited coverage or who studies as a private candidate.

  • Yearly plan by topic
  • Past papers introduced gradually
  • Parents receive a monthly overview

Holiday and mock-season blocks

Concentrated lessons during winter or summer breaks, when a boarding student is home and wants to cover ground quickly.

  • Daily sessions for one or two weeks
  • Timed papers with marking
  • Gap list for the following term

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Faridkot

01

What does Faridkot offer families who want an international curriculum?

  • Health sciences and medical college families drive much of the curiosity
  • Malwa diaspora ties make overseas recognition attractive
  • Boarding in Mohali or Dehradun is a common route
  • Online tutoring teaches the syllabus at home

Faridkot is best known for its health sciences university, a government medical college, the historic fort and the Baba Farid festival each September. What it does not have, as far as we can verify, is a school that teaches the IB or Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE. Children here study under the Punjab School Education Board or CBSE, with the usual private coaching on top.

That absence shapes demand. Parents who want the international route either send a child to boarding in Mohali or Dehradun or a bigger city, or arrange tutoring so the child can learn the syllabus at home. A tutor, in this setting, is often the main instructor.

There is also a steady flow of returning and outbound families. Faridkot and the wider Malwa region have deep links with Canada, Australia and the UK, and some parents prefer a child to follow a qualification those countries recognise instantly.

We keep the school list honest. If you know of an IB or Cambridge school in Faridkot that we have missed, tell us and we will verify it.

02

How do Punjab board, CBSE, IGCSE and the IB differ for a Faridkot child?

The Punjab board syllabus tests recall and textbook methods, and CBSE adds a more competitive style with NCERT depth. Both prepare well for state engineering and medical routes. The IB and IGCSE, by contrast, test how a student thinks with unfamiliar material and how clearly they write about it.

For a Faridkot family, the practical question is what the child will do after school. NEET and JEE remain the main gates for medicine and engineering in India, and eligibility for IB or IGCSE students must be read from each exam's current rules. A child planning a foreign degree might find the IB a smoother fit.

Another difference lies in continuous assessment. IB students complete an Internal Assessment in each subject and an Extended Essay. A student used to a single annual exam needs time to adapt to that rhythm.

The table sets the main routes side by side for a Faridkot student.

03

What does IB or IGCSE tuition cost in Faridkot and what moves the price?

  • Subject and level (HL, SL, Core, Extended)
  • Number and length of weekly sessions
  • Tutor experience and any examiner background
  • Whether the student needs teaching or exam practice

We do not publish figures, and we would be wary of anyone who quotes a flat number without asking about the subject. Fees depend on the course, the level, how many sessions a week are needed and the experience of the tutor.

A Higher Level Physics tutor with examiner-style marking experience will quote differently from someone coaching Class 9 IGCSE English. Teaching a full course from the first page takes more tutor time than polishing a paper a student nearly has.

Faridkot families usually ask two practical questions. Do you charge for the trial? No. Can I stop after a month? Yes. Rates are given in writing before any booking, which stops the confusion that verbal quotes often create.

A good guide is to start with a single subject at one or two sessions a week, review after a month, and add subjects only if there is a clear need.

04

Which suits a Faridkot student better: online tuition, a coaching class, a local home tutor or studying alone?

Coaching classes in Faridkot are strong in the exams they target: NEET, JEE, board papers and competitive tests. They rarely run an IB Paper 2 Biology class, because the number of students asking is tiny. A local private tutor may be excellent at school maths yet unfamiliar with IB command terms.

Self-study has its place, and disciplined students do well with past papers and mark schemes. The danger is an unseen misconception that survives months of practice because no one checks the reasoning.

Online one-to-one tuition puts a subject specialist in front of the student without anyone travelling. Faridkot's winter fog and summer heat make that convenience more than a luxury, since lessons carry on whatever the weather.

We are plain about the limits: tutors do not visit Faridkot homes, and a reliable internet connection is part of the deal.

05

How do fog, stubble smoke and festivals affect the Faridkot study year?

Punjab winters bring dense fog from December to January, and early mornings can be both cold and hard to travel in. For online tuition that is a small gain: a lesson at five in the evening needs no road at all.

October and November add another problem, because smoke from stubble burning across the Malwa belt can leave the air poor for weeks, and parents often keep children indoors. Lessons online carry on without missing a beat, and tutors shift sessions if a child is unwell.

Festivals punctuate the year: Lohri in January, Baisakhi in April, Diwali in autumn, and the Baba Farid Aagman Purb celebrations around September in Faridkot itself. Families with relatives abroad also travel in winter and summer, so a flexible plan matters.

International exams sit against this backdrop, with IB Diploma papers in May and a November session for some, and IGCSE series in May-June and October-November. We work backwards from those dates.

06

What universities can a Faridkot student aim for after IB or IGCSE?

  • AIU equivalence for Indian universities
  • CUET-UG for some IB students
  • Regional options in Patiala, Chandigarh and Mohali
  • UK, Canada and Australia for study abroad

Many Faridkot students with an IB Diploma consider two destinations: India and abroad. For India, the Association of Indian Universities issues equivalence certificates that most universities recognise, and CUET-UG is open to IB students where course rules match. Students planning medicine must check NEET eligibility carefully and in current notices.

Closer to home, families mention Punjabi University in Patiala, Thapar Institute, Panjab University in Chandigarh and Chandigarh University near Mohali. The Baba Farid University of Health Sciences in Faridkot itself runs medical and allied courses through the state process, so families of aspiring doctors should read its admission rules early.

Abroad, the UK, Canada and Australia attract most enquiries, all of which accept IB and IGCSE-based qualifications. The IB Diploma is often asked for by Canadian and UK universities, and students with strong HL scores can apply with confidence.

We tutor the subjects that feed these applications. We do not guarantee offers and we do not write personal statements.

07

How are IB Maths and the sciences taught over a screen?

Mathematics comes first for most students. The Analysis and Approaches course leans on algebra and calculus, while Applications and Interpretation relies on statistical tools and calculators. A tutor advises on the right course at the start, because switching later costs time.

During a lesson, the tutor and the student share a digital page and write on it in turn, which makes errors visible immediately. For graphing and data analysis, screen-sharing the calculator or spreadsheet lets the tutor correct a keystroke problem on the spot.

Science lessons follow a rhythm: explain, try a question, check the mark scheme, try a harder one. Practical work is handled through data sets and video clips, since the Internal Assessment needs a real experiment planned and written up by the student alone.

Every student begins with a short diagnostic, so early lessons go where marks are being lost.

08

What is the difference between IGCSE Core and Extended, and which subjects should a Faridkot student pick?

In Mathematics and some sciences, Core is capped at a lower top grade while Extended reaches the full range. A student who expects to take A Level Maths or IB Maths HL should sit Extended, even if Core feels safer at first.

Subject choice follows the goal. A student planning medicine or engineering usually takes Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Another drawn to commerce combines Business Studies, Economics and Computer Science, with English Language as the common thread.

Cambridge and Edexcel differ in layout and emphasis, so we confirm the syllabus code before we start. Students who take IGCSE as private candidates also need a nearby centre; Mohali or Ludhiana are the usual choices.

Tutors can explain how the timeline works, without handling the registration themselves.

Where we tutor

Faridkot neighbourhoods and the towns around it

Faridkot is a mid-sized Malwa city and its surroundings include larger towns that sit within a short drive. The notes below describe how each part of the area affects school hours and lesson timing.

Fort area and old city

Dense lanes around the old fort, where families live close to the bazaars. Noise in the evening means a closed room and headphones help.

Harindra Nagar

A settled residential colony popular with professionals linked to the medical institutions; an easy area for regular evening slots.

Model Town

Residential streets with a mix of government and private-sector households who often look outside the city for higher education.

Kotkapura Road and the health sciences campus belt

Medical and faculty families sit along this corridor, and children of doctors frequently ask about NEET versus the IB route.

Jaitu Road

A growing edge of the city. Internet quality can vary, so we recommend a test call before the trial lesson.

Bathinda Road

Households here often commute towards Bathinda for work, so tutors schedule after six in the evening when both parents are home.

Kotkapura

A neighbouring town around 15 km away, with agricultural and trading families who study with us online in the same way.

Jaito

A historic town in the district; students usually travel to Faridkot or Kotkapura for school, so lessons are booked after the bus returns.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Faridkot

Faridkot city and district

We have not found an IB or Cambridge/Edexcel school inside Faridkot, so local learning mostly combines Punjab board or CBSE schooling with a tutor for the international syllabus.

    Nearby: Ludhiana

The larger Punjab city where families most often look for an international school, around two hours by road.

    • Britannica International School
    • Harvest International School

    Nearby: Mohali

The Chandigarh tricity has the state's widest range of international options; families here consider it for boarding or relocation.

    • Oakridge International School, Mohali

The schools above are listed to show where confirmed IB or Cambridge options exist in Punjab. We have no partnership with any school or exam body, and each school decides its own admissions.

    Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Faridkot: your questions answered

Is there an IB school in Faridkot?+

We cannot confirm one. Faridkot schools follow the Punjab board or CBSE, and the nearest international options we have checked are in Ludhiana and the Mohali area. Families who want the IB usually arrange boarding elsewhere or learn the syllabus online with a tutor while attending a local school.

Do you offer home tuition in Faridkot?+

We offer online home tuition, not visits. A tutor does not travel to houses in Faridkot, because in-person tuition runs only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. Your child learns at home on a laptop, one to one, with the tutor live on video and writing on a shared page.

    How much will it cost?+

We do not publish prices, because the rate depends on subject, level, tutor experience and the number of sessions. You will receive the rate in writing before you book, and the first lesson is free. A student needing a full course costs more tutor time than one needing revision.

Can my child take IGCSE papers from Faridkot?+

Yes, usually as a private candidate through an exam centre in a larger city such as Ludhiana or the Mohali area. Centre availability and deadlines change, so confirm with the centre early. Tutors teach the syllabus and past papers but do not manage the registration process.

My child studies in Punjabi-medium. Will the IB be too hard?+

It is demanding but workable with time. The main challenge is writing long English answers, which tutors build through short, regular practice. Subject ideas are the same in any language, so we start with vocabulary and structure before moving to exam-length responses.

Is Faridkot's winter fog a problem for lessons?+

Not for online lessons. Fog affects roads and early travel, but a live video session at home is unaffected. We suggest afternoon or evening slots in December and January, and tutors move a lesson if power or connectivity is interrupted.

Can tutors help a medical-college family with NEET or IB decisions?+

Tutors teach IB and IGCSE subjects; they do not give NEET admission advice. We suggest reading each exam's current eligibility rules for IB and IGCSE students before choosing a route, and a tutor can then build the subject depth that any route needs.

Do tutors write the IA or Extended Essay?+

No. Tutors coach, question and comment on structure, but they never write an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay or coursework. Those must be the student's own work, and we ask tutors to stay inside that line without exception.

Which IB Maths course should a Faridkot student take?+

It depends on the career goal. Analysis and Approaches suits engineering and pure science, while Applications and Interpretation suits economics, psychology and business. University subject requirements should decide, so read the entry rules of the target course before choosing.

    What are the exam sessions?+

IB Diploma exams run in May, with a November session for some candidates. IGCSE has a May-June series and an October-November series. We confirm the session your school or centre has entered your child for, and work backwards to set the revision plan.

How does the free trial work?+

It is a full lesson on a real topic from your child's syllabus, with no cost and no commitment. The tutor teaches, asks questions and sends a short note. If it does not suit, we match another tutor, and you owe nothing for the trial.

Can you teach younger children in PYP or MYP?+

Yes. For PYP, tutors support reading, number work and the Exhibition process. For MYP they help with criterion-based writing and the Personal Project. The help is coaching, so the child does the thinking and the tutor guides it.

    What if our internet drops?+

Keep a phone hotspot ready. If a lesson drops, the tutor reschedules within the week. On outer roads such as Jaitu Road or around Kotkapura, a test call before the trial shows whether your connection is steady enough.

Can Faridkot IB students apply to Indian universities?+

Generally yes. The Association of Indian Universities gives equivalence for the IB Diploma and CUET-UG is open in many cases. Professional courses have their own rules, so check each institution's current notice. We tutor the subjects and do not advise on admissions.

    How do I get started?+

Write to support@ibgram.com or message +91 7439 368 115 on WhatsApp with the board, subject, level and exam date. We reply with a tutor profile and a rate in writing, then arrange a free trial at a time that avoids the fog and school hours.
