IB and IGCSE Tutors and Online Home Tuition in Cherthala

Families in Cherthala who want IB or Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE support for a child usually discover that the nearest campuses are around Kochi, some 40 km north. IB and IGCSE tutors in Cherthala from IB Gram teach online, one-to-one and live, so private tuition from home means a laptop on the study table and not a teacher at the door: tutors do not visit homes here, since in-person home tuition runs only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR.

  • Each tutor is chosen for the exact IB course and level or IGCSE syllabus code, not for living nearby
  • Online only in Cherthala; in-person home visits exist just in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
  • A free trial lesson, a written note after each session and a tutor change if the fit is wrong
  • Independent of the IB, Cambridge, Pearson and every school named on this page

IB & IGCSE in Cherthala

Cherthala's families and the IB and IGCSE: why the lessons come online

Cherthala is a municipal town on National Highway 66 in Alappuzha district, about 22 km north of Alappuzha and 40 km south of Kochi. The 2011 census counted 45,827 residents and literacy above 97 per cent, and the Karthyayani Devi Temple stands at the centre of town. Its degree colleges include SN College, NSS College and St. Michael's College, and College of Engineering, Cherthala, opened in 2004.

Schools in town follow the Kerala State Board, CBSE or, in a few cases, CISCE. We could not confirm an IB World School or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE centre in Cherthala or anywhere in Alappuzha district; the nearest campuses that school directories list are around Kochi. A family looking for IB and IGCSE tutors in Cherthala therefore finds few local specialists, and IB Gram fills the gap with tutors who teach the exact syllabus live, one-to-one, on Indian Standard Time.

A note for anyone who typed home tuition into the search box. Tutors do not come to Cherthala homes; in-person home tuition runs only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. Here the child stays at the home desk and the lesson arrives on screen, which also removes the crawl on NH66 at school closing time.

Coaching is the limit of what a tutor does. They explain, set problems, mark them and send a written note, while the Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay and coursework stay the student's own work. IB Gram is independent, with no tie to the IB, Cambridge, Pearson or any school on this page.

At a glance

  • Tutors for IB PYP, MYP, Diploma and Career-related courses
  • Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE at Core, Extended, Foundation and Higher tiers
  • Live lessons placed after the school day or around existing tuition
  • A free trial lesson and a written note before you decide
  • Online only here; home visits stay in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Cherthala school years

In Cherthala the IB tends to arrive indirectly: a child back from a Gulf school, a transfer after a parent joins a Kochi employer, or a family planning a move to Kochi or overseas. The notes below show how each programme meets those routes.

PYPNursery to Class 5, ages 3-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Children learn through units of inquiry that weave several subjects around one central idea, and the final year closes with the PYP Exhibition, a group investigation shown to the school community.

The PYP question usually comes from parents expecting a move to Kochi or abroad, who want reading, number sense and spoken English settled before an inquiry classroom begins.

MYPClass 6-10, ages 11-16

IB Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups are judged against published criteria, not one overall mark, and each student completes a Personal Project of their own design.

A child from a State Board or CBSE school joining an MYP class in Class 8 or 9 must learn to answer by criterion band, which is the first skill a tutor practises.

DPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Diploma Programme

A Diploma student takes six courses across six subject groups, at Higher or Standard Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, a 4,000-word Extended Essay and creativity, activity and service.

The usual routes from Cherthala are a boarding or relocation seat at a Kochi campus, an online international school, or a Gulf school the family is leaving. Mathematics and the sciences lead, then Economics and Business.

CPClass 11-12, ages 16-19

IB Career-related Programme

The Career-related Programme pairs a few Diploma courses with a career-related qualification, a reflective project and skills teaching.

Uncommon in Kerala. Where a student meets it, we support the Diploma courses inside it and help plan the reflective project.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Matching begins with the exact course: Mathematics Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation, Higher or Standard Level, and the session the student plans to sit. A Cherthala student from the Kerala State or CBSE syllabus will recognise much of the content but meet an unfamiliar exam style, and the first lessons measure that difference.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

Calculus, functions and proof. Plus Two mathematics leaves most Kerala students at ease with differentiation, so early sessions go to proof, unfamiliar contexts and reasoning written out in words.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Statistics, modelling and calculator fluency earn the marks; the exploration works best with data a student can gather locally, such as rainfall or tide records.

IB Physics

HL / SL

Mechanics through fields, with marks for unit discipline, data-booklet fluency and error analysis; the investigation should suit the apparatus a school really owns.

IB Chemistry

HL / SL

Energetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms reward step-by-step working; a coastal student can build an investigation around salinity or water quality.

IB Biology

HL / SL

Marks go to answers that obey the command term; backwater, mangrove and paddy-field ecosystems give live examples for ecology and field investigations.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Correct diagrams and real-market examples carry the course, and Kerala's remittance economy and its coir, fishing and tourism sectors supply topical cases.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Case answers apply a named concept to the firm in the question; the internal assessment suits an organisation the student can reach, such as a family business or a co-operative.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Unseen commentary, comparative essays and the oral each get separate drills, for students who think in Malayalam and write in English.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Algorithms, data structures and networks with coding practice, plus the documentation the solution project needs.

IB Environmental Systems & Societies

SL / HL

Coastal erosion, salinity intrusion, flooding and wetland management give local material for systems thinking.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Hazards, resources and change through a few well-chosen cases; the 2018 Kerala floods are an event a student can analyse in depth, and fieldwork needs early planning.

IB Hindi B

HL / SL

For students whose home language is Malayalam, formal Hindi writing and oral fluency are built from the ground up.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

Discussion-led sessions unpack knowledge questions and prescribed titles and sharpen the exhibition commentary.

Extended Essay (EE)

DP Core

A tutor helps narrow the research question and pace the work, and never drafts any part of it.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

Start with the board. Cambridge and Edexcel share subject names but not syllabus codes, tiers or paper layouts, and the series a student enters decides how long there is to prepare. A Cherthala family should also ask the school which tier it plans to enter for each subject.

IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core / Extended

Extended entrants drill non-calculator fluency and clear layout so every method mark is collected.

IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Grade 9-10

Differentiation, trigonometric equations and vectors arrive early, easing the later step up to IB Maths AA.

Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics A 4MA1

Foundation / Higher

Phrasing differs from Cambridge, so practice comes from Edexcel's own past papers.

IGCSE Physics 0625

Core / Extended

Circuits, waves and forces first, then the practical or alternative-to-practical paper that is usually left too late.

IGCSE Chemistry 0620

Core / Extended

Mole calculations, reactivity trends and organic families, built through steady paper practice.

IGCSE Biology 0610

Core / Extended

Genetics, transport and ecology, with answers shaped the way examiners word mark schemes.

IGCSE Economics 0455

Grade 9-10

Accurate diagrams first, then the written evaluation that separates higher grades.

IGCSE Business Studies 0450

Grade 9-10

Case reading, ratios and decision language, practised on short scenarios.

IGCSE Computer Science 0478

Grade 9-10

Trace tables, pseudocode and Python practice alongside the theory paper.

IGCSE English First Language 0500

Grade 9-10

Timed summary and directed writing against real mark schemes.

IGCSE Hindi as a Second Language 0549

Grade 9-10

A language paper for Malayalam-speaking students who want existing Indian-language habits to count.

IGCSE Geography 0460

Grade 9-10

Case-study recall and map skills, with a coastline, lake and delta to draw examples from.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around Cherthala school timetables

Whatever the pattern, the lesson is live and one-to-one over video; what changes is how the weeks are arranged. Three arrangements cover most Cherthala households.

A weekly slot through the term

One lesson or two on fixed evenings, placed after school and any tuition the child already attends, with a tutor who keeps one plan from week to week.

  • The same tutor and the same time
  • Short written note after each lesson
  • Free trial before any commitment

Exam-season blocks

A denser run of lessons before an IB, Cambridge or Edexcel series, scheduled once the Onam or Christmas term exams are over.

  • Timed past papers with marked feedback
  • Weak topics repaired in order of mark value
  • Online only, with no tutor visiting Cherthala

A bridge after a move

A planned set of lessons for a child returning from the Gulf, joining an IB or IGCSE school in Kochi, or shifting from the State Board or CBSE into an international syllabus.

  • A diagnostic lesson first
  • Targets vocabulary, practicals and paper style
  • A plan agreed in writing

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Cherthala

01

Is there an IB or Cambridge school in Cherthala, and who studies these curricula here?

No school we could verify in Cherthala or elsewhere in Alappuzha district teaches the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE. Town schools run the Kerala State Board, CBSE or CISCE, and the campuses school directories list for international curricula sit around Kochi, roughly 40 km north. That is why most IB and IGCSE study connected to Cherthala happens through tutoring, not a local classroom.

Three kinds of household are the natural audience. Families returning from the Gulf, whose children may have sat Cambridge or IB papers abroad and now face a Kerala or CBSE classroom. Households with a parent in software or engineering, some linked to the Infopark campus at Pallippuram, who want an IB or IGCSE option kept open. And students in Class 9 to 12 who plan to study overseas and want a subject taught at that standard.

Forty kilometres sounds short on a map, but it is a long school run on NH66, and Kochi's campuses lie on the far side of the city. Daily commuting is unrealistic for most children, so a family wanting a full programme has to weigh boarding or a move. IB Gram takes no position on that; we teach subjects, whichever school the child attends.

What does IB and IGCSE tuition cost in Cherthala?

  • Tutor experience with the exact syllabus and level
  • Lessons per week and the length of each
  • How close the examination series is
  • Extra planning help, such as a TOK outline review or an Extended Essay timeline

The rate depends on the tutor's experience with your exact course, the level taught and the lessons per week, and IB Gram sets it out in writing before you book. There is no price list here, because one figure would hide the gap between early MYP mathematics and IB Higher Level Physics. The trial lesson costs nothing, so the first real decision comes after you have watched a tutor teach.

Cherthala parents know what evening tuition costs, since Plus Two and entrance coaching are routine in Kerala, and they tend to measure any new fee against that. The fairer comparison is with a wasted year. A teacher excellent at the State Board syllabus may not know how IB command terms are marked or how an IGCSE Extended paper is built, and months can pass before anyone notices.

Online delivery removes costs families forget: fuel and time on NH66, taxi fares to Kochi and the evening lost to a wet commute. For a Class 11 student, the recovered hour is often worth more than a small gap in hourly rates.

03

Kerala State Board, CBSE, ICSE, IB and IGCSE: how do they differ for a Cherthala student?

In short, the Kerala State Board and CBSE reward accurate command of a fixed textbook, ICSE and ISC add breadth and descriptive detail, and the IB and IGCSE put more of the mark on applying ideas to unfamiliar situations and justifying an answer in writing. The IB adds long independent work, while the IGCSE keeps terminal papers with a practical element.

Kerala's Higher Secondary years fix a subject combination, for instance Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology or Computer Science, with English and a second language. The IB Diploma asks for six subjects from six groups plus the core, so a student strong in Plus One science often finds it broader than expected and its scoring subtler, since marks come from criteria and command terms more than recall.

Language is a real consideration in a Malayalam-speaking town. State Board teaching may be in Malayalam or English, while the IB and IGCSE are taught and examined in English, with sustained written argument in every subject. Early work with a Cherthala student is therefore subject writing: a paragraph in Economics, a method statement in Chemistry, a commentary in English.

If a switch is planned, the tidy points are Class 6 for the MYP, Class 9 for the IGCSE and Class 11 for the Diploma. Coming back from a school abroad into Plus One or a CBSE school needs early enquiry about admission rules and equivalence. Begin bridge lessons two terms ahead of any move.

Should a Cherthala family choose online tuition, a tuition centre or a private tutor?

For the IB and IGCSE, live online tuition from a tutor who has taught the exact syllabus is usually the practical choice. Cherthala has capable tuition centres and home tutors for the State Board and CBSE, and for those boards they serve families well, but we did not find one running an IB or IGCSE batch. The right choice still depends on the child's age, subject and exam date.

A tuition centre gives routine and company, with a fixed timetable and a group, which suits some Plus Two students; it gives less attention to one student's gaps. A private tutor from the locality gives one-to-one time and flexible hours, with the same risk of a syllabus gap. An online specialist trades the local handshake for exact syllabus experience.

Weak points exist. The monsoon can cut power and slow broadband, so we ask every family for a backup such as a phone hotspot or a small UPS. Self-study still matters near papers, but it offers no feedback on an extended answer, and that is where a tutor's marking changes results.

How do the monsoon, Onam and Christmas exams shape the study year in Cherthala?

Kerala schools run from June to March, with term examinations before the Onam break and again before Christmas, and Cherthala's heaviest rain falls in the same stretch. IB and IGCSE tuition therefore works best when revision blocks follow those exams instead of landing on top of them, and when each family keeps a connectivity backup for the rains.

The town receives roughly 3,200 mm of rain a year, and June is the wettest month with about 705 mm. The south-west monsoon arrives as schools reopen, and the north-east rains of October and November return as the IB and Cambridge November sessions approach. A heavy evening can mean a power cut, a flooded lane or a slow connection, all of which we plan for.

Onam gives the calendar a long pause in late summer, and families travel for it; the Nehru Trophy Boat Race at Punnamada in Alappuzha, some 22 km south, falls in the same season. Christmas brings another break, and the January feast at Arthunkal draws pilgrims to the coast. We ask for the school's holiday list early.

For a May IB session, content teaching usually ends before the Christmas break, past papers fill January to March, and the weeks after Kerala's March board exams go to timing and weak topics. The IGCSE follows the same shape with the dates of the chosen series. A student preparing for the SSLC or Plus Two alongside an international course needs a lighter plan in February and March.

University and career pathways from Cherthala with an IB or IGCSE record

  • Equivalence certificates from the Association of Indian Universities, which some institutions request
  • CUET-UG registration for central universities and many private ones
  • NEET-UG and KEAM eligibility, settled by the subject choices made in Class 11
  • Country-specific grade and subject rules for study abroad

An IB Diploma holder from Cherthala can apply to Indian universities through the Association of Indian Universities equivalence certificate where one is asked for, and many private universities read IB results directly. Central universities using CUET-UG admit IB students through the same registration as everyone else. Kerala's state universities, such as the University of Kerala, Mahatma Gandhi University and CUSAT, publish their own rules for other boards, so read the current notice first.

Medicine runs through NEET-UG, which asks for Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology and English, so subject choice matters from Class 11. Government T D Medical College at Vandanam in Alappuzha is the closest government medical college we know of, and seat allotment under Kerala's state quota follows the state's own counselling. Engineering in Kerala uses KEAM, and nationally JEE Main, each with its own eligibility notice.

Nearer home, SN College, NSS College and St. Michael's College offer arts, science and commerce degrees affiliated to the University of Kerala, and College of Engineering, Cherthala, offers engineering. Students aiming at engineering, law or design usually look wider, to NUALS in Kochi, NIT Calicut, IIT Palakkad or IISER Thiruvananthapuram.

Overseas study is the second strong pull. Kerala has a long habit of it, and the IB Diploma, or IGCSE followed by A Level, is widely understood by universities in the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia and the United States. Each institution publishes its own grade and subject requirements, and we ask families to read those directly and choose subjects to match.

07

IB Maths AA, Maths AI and the sciences: what is the real workload?

Analysis and Approaches suits a student who enjoys algebra, calculus and proof, while Applications and Interpretation suits one who prefers statistics and modelling with technology. Each carries an exploration worth a fifth of the grade, and Higher Level asks for far more hours than Standard in either course. The sciences ask for exact units, close reading of command terms and an investigation scoped to what the school laboratory can really do.

A Cherthala student who has studied Plus Two mathematics already knows differentiation and integration, so the gap is rarely technique. It is usually proof, unfamiliar modelling contexts and setting out reasoning in words, and the first sessions measure exactly those. A student from a Gulf school on a British curriculum may face the opposite, strong problem-solving but thinner calculus, and the plan changes accordingly.

In the sciences, common trouble spots are loose units, answers that restate the question and an investigation left until the last month. Students used to a practical record book often know every method but have never framed a research question or weighed the uncertainty of a result. Tutors teach those habits through short, regular tasks, not last-minute coaching.

A single diagnostic lesson is the cheapest way to learn whether Higher Level is realistic; it costs less than a year spent in the wrong course. A tutor can then suggest how to narrow an exploration and explain how the criteria are applied, but will not draft or edit it.

08

IGCSE Core or Extended, and which subjects suit a Cherthala student?

Extended is the right target for any student who may move to IB Higher Level Mathematics or A Level sciences, because Cambridge's Core papers cap the grade at C. Edexcel works through Foundation and Higher tiers in mathematics instead. A diagnostic lesson shows which tier is realistic, and the tutor builds a plan from that starting point.

Subject choice should follow the next step. A future Diploma student needs mathematics, one or two sciences, English and a language, while a child expecting to return to Kerala's Plus One benefits from a mix that keeps Science, Commerce and Humanities open. Ask the receiving school which combinations it admits before dropping any subject.

IGCSE practical assessment surprises many Indian students. Cambridge science offers a practical test or an alternative-to-practical written paper, and the written version rewards students who have seen real apparatus and can still describe method, error and improvement on paper. English First Language uses directed writing and summary tasks in a format that differs from school essays.

For a child whose home language is Malayalam, Cambridge offers both English as a Second Language and Hindi as a Second Language, and the choice depends on the school's plan. A useful first step in any subject is to read a recent past paper together and mark it against the official scheme.

Where we tutor

Cherthala and the taluk villages we teach online

Every lesson runs online, so the entries below are context and not travel: what each part of the taluk is known for, which road or waterway shapes a family's evening and how the monsoon touches it.

Cherthala town

The centre around the Karthyayani Devi Temple, with degree colleges, schools and tuition centres close together; online lessons spare an evening from main-road traffic.

Pallippuram

About 7 km out and home to the Infopark campus, planned as a spoke of Kochi's IT hub; software households are a natural audience for international-curriculum options.

Thycattussery

The panchayat next to Pallippuram, on the side away from the town; families pick lesson times by evening routine, not distance.

Arthunkal

A coastal village with St. Andrew's Basilica, whose January feast procession runs from the church to the beach; lessons move around feast week and the sea-side rains.

Thanneermukkom

On the Vembanad shore, where the bund runs across the lake to Vechoor; buses link it to Cherthala and Kottayam, though lessons need no bus.

Aroor

The part of the taluk nearest Ernakulam district; a family with a parent who commutes to Kochi may prefer late-evening slots.

Perumbalam and Panavally

Island and lakeside settlements in the Vembanad backwaters, where a power cut in heavy rain matters more than the address; keep a phone hotspot ready.

Mararikulam

A coastal belt south of Cherthala known for its beach; families here can pair State Board or CBSE schooling with online subject help.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Cherthala

Cherthala and Alappuzha district

Local schools follow the Kerala State Board, CBSE or, in a few cases, CISCE. We could not verify an IB, Cambridge or Edexcel school in the town or the district.

    Nearby: Kochi (Ambalamugal and Kakkanad)

The city is about 40 km north of Cherthala, with these campuses beyond it. Directories show an IB Diploma option at The Choice School and IB primary years with IGCSE at TIPS Kochi; confirm current programmes.

    • The Choice School, Ambalamugal
    • TIPS Kochi

    Nearby: Kochi (Thiruvankulam and Pukkattupady)

Two more Kochi campuses that directories list with IGCSE and some IB programmes alongside CBSE or ICSE. A daily journey from Cherthala is unrealistic, so they suit boarding or a move.

    • Global Public School, Thiruvankulam
    • Cochin International School

    Nearby: Thiruvananthapuram district

Well over 100 km south, near Attingal, Trivandrum International School lists the IB and Cambridge IGCSE, a boarding-distance option for few Alappuzha families.

    • Trivandrum International School

We could not confirm a school in Cherthala or Alappuzha district that teaches the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE, so none is listed as local. Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram names are regional context from school directories and the schools' own descriptions, and offers change. IB Gram has no partnership with any school and is unaffiliated with the IB, Cambridge or Pearson; check a school's authorisation with the awarding body before enrolling.

    How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

    1. 01

      Send the brief

Write with the programme or board, subject, level, latest marks and the evening slots that work in your Cherthala household.

    2. 02

      Meet your proposed tutor

We suggest one tutor who has taught that exact syllabus and share a short introduction.

    3. 03

      Try a free lesson

The child works live on video with the tutor; both sides judge the fit and nothing is charged.

    4. 04

      Read the written note

The tutor records strengths, gaps and next steps, and the rate arrives in writing.

    5. 05

      Continue, pause or switch

Keep the weekly slot, move to exam-season blocks or ask for a different tutor.

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Cherthala: your questions answered

Are there IB and IGCSE tutors in Cherthala?+

IB Gram teaches Cherthala students online. We did not find a local IB or IGCSE specialist we could vouch for, so our tutors teach from elsewhere in India over live video on Indian Standard Time, each matched to the student's course, level and exam series. That puts people who have taught the exact syllabus within reach of a Cherthala home, without the drive to Kochi.

Do tutors come to my home in Cherthala?+

No. IB Gram tutors do not visit homes in Cherthala. In-person home tuition is offered only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. In Cherthala, private tuition from home means a one-to-one live lesson online, with the student at their own desk and the tutor on screen. The tutor is chosen for the syllabus, wherever they live.

Is there an IB school in Cherthala or Alappuzha?+

We could not confirm one. Schools in Cherthala follow the Kerala State Board, CBSE or CISCE, and we found no IB or Cambridge school listed for Alappuzha district. The campuses we could confirm are in Kochi and, further south, near Attingal in Thiruvananthapuram district. Check any school's authorisation with the IB or Cambridge before enrolling a child.

What does IB tuition cost in Cherthala?+

Rates are not published, because they depend on the tutor's experience, the subject and level, and the lessons per week. We send the rate in writing before you book, and the first trial lesson is free. Compare tutors on experience with your exact syllabus and not on price alone, since a poor match is the most expensive option in the end.

Can my child move from the Kerala State Board or CBSE to IGCSE or IB?+

Yes, most easily at Class 6, Class 9 or Class 11. The usual gaps are English writing within each subject, application-style questions and practical write-ups. A diagnostic lesson shows them, and a tutor plans a block of lessons to close them before the new term. Admission itself is decided by the receiving school, not by IB Gram.

Which IGCSE boards do you cover?+

Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel. Syllabus codes, paper layouts and command words differ, so we ask which board the school uses before matching a tutor. Cambridge offers a February to March series in India alongside May to June and October to November, while Edexcel sits in January, May to June and October to November.

Will the tutor write my IA or Extended Essay?+

No. A tutor can help you pick a workable research question, set a timetable, explain the assessment criteria and comment on what you have written, but the ideas and the writing must remain your own. IB Gram tutors never draft Internal Assessments, Extended Essays, TOK essays or graded coursework, and schools treat outside authorship as malpractice.

How do I begin with a free trial?+

Message us on WhatsApp at +91 7439 368 115 or email support@ibgram.com with the programme or board, subject, level, latest grade and preferred evening hours. We shortlist a tutor and arrange the trial lesson. Afterwards the tutor writes a short note, and you decide whether to continue.

Will monsoon weather disrupt online lessons in Cherthala?+

It can. Cherthala receives around 3,200 mm of rain a year, and power cuts or a slow connection are possible in heavy spells. Keep a phone hotspot or a small UPS for the router ready, and we agree in advance that a lesson lost to an outage is rescheduled. Allow extra slack from June to August before an exam series.

Can Cherthala students sit IGCSE or IB exams as private candidates?+

Sometimes. Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE accept private candidates through registered exam centres, likely in larger cities such as Kochi, so check the centre's deadlines and fees early. The IB Diploma is normally taken through an authorised IB school. Once a centre and series are confirmed, we build the study plan around the dates.

My child is returning from the Gulf. Can you help with the move to a Kerala school?+

Yes. Returning families usually need help on two fronts: syllabus content that differs from the Kerala State Board or CBSE, and the exam style of the new school. Tutors can run a bridge block before term, or keep the IGCSE or IB path going while admission is settled. Confirm equivalence and admission rules directly with the school and the board.

Can an IB or IGCSE student still apply for NEET, KEAM or Kerala universities?+

Often yes, but rules change, so read the current official notice. NEET-UG asks for Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology and English, and KEAM and university admissions set their own criteria for students from other boards. An equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities is sometimes requested. We help with subject strength, not admission paperwork.

How many lessons a week does a student usually need?+

Most students manage well on one or two lessons a week during the term and three or four in the weeks before papers. A bridge block before a school change may be denser. We agree the schedule after the trial and adjust the plan as the year goes on, based on the written notes and the next exam date.

Do Onam and Christmas exams clash with tuition?+

They need planning, not cancellation. Kerala schools hold term exams before the Onam and Christmas breaks, so we lighten IB and IGCSE lessons in the exam fortnight or turn them to revision of that school's portions, then restart the full programme afterwards. Share the school's timetable early and the tutor can build the plan around it.

Is IB Gram connected to any school, board or exam body?+

No. IB Gram is an independent tutoring service with no affiliation to the IB, Cambridge, Pearson or any school on this page. School names appear only to describe what is available around Kochi and Alappuzha, and families should confirm a school's authorisation with the awarding body before enrolling a child.
