IB & IGCSE in Aurangabad

Studying IB or IGCSE from Aurangabad, the city now called Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Search engines, school forms and parents still say Aurangabad, while government records, railway boards and newer signage say Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. We use both. The city is the commercial centre of Marathwada, known worldwide for Ajanta and Ellora, and at home for the MIDC industrial belts at Waluj, Chikalthana and Shendra where automotive and manufacturing employers draw engineers and managers from across India.

Those employers matter for this page. A production manager or design engineer posted here from Pune, Chennai or abroad often has a child on the IB or IGCSE. We could not confirm an IB World School or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE centre in the city, so we name none. Local schooling is the Maharashtra state board, CBSE and ICSE, with a very busy tuition sector built around them.

Families in that position generally choose between boarding in Pune or Mumbai, studying as private candidates through an approved exam centre, or working with a distance provider, and then add subject teaching. An online tutor who has taught the exact syllabus is the missing piece. Lessons are held on a laptop at home. IB Gram does not send tutors to Aurangabad addresses.

IB Gram is independent of every school, employer and exam body named here. Tutors coach and explain; they never write Internal Assessments, Extended Essays, TOK essays or coursework.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to Aurangabad school years

Because we could not confirm an IB school inside the city, each programme reaches Aurangabad through a different path: an industrial posting, a boarding arrangement in western Maharashtra, a return from abroad or a study-abroad plan. The notes below say what each stage tends to need.

PYPClasses 1 to 5 (ages 6 to 11)

IB Primary Years Programme

Six transdisciplinary themes replace the usual subject boundaries, and the final-year Exhibition lets children investigate their own question. Reading confidence and number sense are the practical foundations.

Aurangabad PYP children are usually younger siblings of transferred employees, who began at an IB school in a metro and need continuity until the family decides on a longer-term plan.

MYPClasses 6 to 10 (ages 11 to 16)

IB Middle Years Programme

Each subject is assessed against four criteria, and a self-directed Personal Project closes the programme in Class 10.

In Aurangabad a child may move between an MYP school and a Maharashtra state-board or CBSE class, so bridging in both directions is common.

DPClasses 11 and 12 (ages 16 to 19)

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects across three Higher and three Standard Level courses combine with Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS.

Diploma students from the city typically board in Pune, Mumbai or Nashik, or study through a distance route, and use a tutor for one demanding Higher Level subject.

CPClasses 11 and 12 (ages 16 to 19)

IB Career-related Programme

Two or three Diploma courses sit alongside a career-related study and a reflective project. The programme is rare in India, though its Diploma content is the same.

We see occasional CP enquiries from families relocating from abroad.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Subject, level and exam session are fixed first. A weekly routine is then built around a school day that, in Aurangabad, often includes a coaching batch and a long ride across the city.

IB Maths Analysis & Approaches

HL / SL

The route for future engineers: calculus, algebra and proof, with HL sharpened by the unpredictable Paper 3 questions.

IB Maths Applications & Interpretation

HL / SL

Data-heavy and calculator-led; fits business, biology and social-science ambitions better than pure algebra would.

IB Physics

Mole work comes first; organic mechanisms and equilibrium turn up together and widen the gap at Higher Level.

IB Biology

HL / SL

A long syllabus where marks hinge on answering the exact verb in the question and on clean statistics.

IB Economics

HL / SL

Diagrams need a live example beside them; the Marathwada factory belt supplies plenty.

IB Business Management

HL / SL

Answers built around the organisation in the stimulus, and a research project centred on one firm.

IB English A Language & Literature

HL / SL

Cold-read analysis, comparison of two works and a spoken commentary, each trainable by regular timed practice.

IB Computer Science

HL / SL

Algorithm design, data structures and a documented solution that explains why choices were made.

IB Psychology

HL / SL

Accurate study citations across the approaches, and essays that argue rather than list.

IB Environmental Systems & Societies

SL / HL

Drought, groundwater and the Godavari basin give Marathwada students unusually local case material.

IB Geography

HL / SL

Named case studies with real depth, and fieldwork that another person could repeat.

IB History

HL / SL

Weighing sources for origin and purpose, then holding a single argument across an essay.

IB Marathi B and Hindi B

HL / SL

Language acquisition for students who speak Marathi or Hindi at home: text types, listening and the individual oral.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

DP Core

Conversation-based coaching around the exhibition objects and the prescribed titles, without drafting anything for the student.

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Aurangabad

Aurangabad or Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: which city is this page about?

  • Aurangabad in Maharashtra is now officially Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
  • Aurangabad in Bihar is a separate town with its own page
  • Schooling here is MSBSHSE, CBSE and ICSE; no IB or IGCSE school confirmed
  • Either name works for tutoring enquiries

This page covers the Maharashtra city of Aurangabad, officially renamed Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, the headquarters of Marathwada and the gateway to the Ajanta and Ellora caves. People still search for it as Aurangabad, and its railway station, airport listings and many school websites use either name, so we use both to make sure families find us.

It is not Aurangabad in Bihar, a district town in the Magadh region with a very different school landscape. IB Gram has a separate page for that town. If your child studies in Bihar, use that page instead; the information about Maharashtra boards, MIDC employers and Marathwada weather does not apply there.

In Maharashtra the state board is MSBSHSE, which runs the SSC at Class 10 and the HSC at Class 12. CBSE and ICSE schools are widely available too. What we could not confirm is any school that runs the IB or a Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE, and we say so rather than guess.

The name question is more than a curiosity. Parents who search for schools or tutors under the old name and the new name can get different results, and admission forms or transfer certificates may carry either. A tutor's work is not affected by which name is on a form.

Which Aurangabad families ask for IB and IGCSE tutors?

  • MIDC transfers bring most IB and IGCSE enquiries
  • University and medical families know international routes
  • Local tuition is strong for SSC, HSC, JEE and NEET, weak for IB or IGCSE
  • Online matching removes the supply gap

The MIDC belts at Waluj, Chikalthana and Shendra, and the newer Auto City near Bidkin, bring managers, engineers and their families in from other states. Many of them have a child who began IB or IGCSE in Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai or abroad, and who now studies in a city where no such school is confirmed.

A second group is medical and academic families linked to the government medical college, MGM University and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University. These parents often know international qualifications from postgraduate years abroad, and some prefer an international route for their children.

A third group is local business families in trade, pharmaceuticals and hospitality. The tourism economy around Ajanta and Ellora exposes many households to foreign visitors and overseas study options, and they may plan a UK, Canadian or Australian degree.

The common problem is the gap between what the syllabus needs and what the city offers. Tutoring in Aurangabad is abundant for SSC, HSC, JEE and NEET; it is thin for the IB and IGCSE. An online tutor is the practical fix.

IB Gram covers PYP to Diploma and both major IGCSE boards, with the same trial, notes and change-of-tutor policy for every family.

MSBSHSE, CBSE, ICSE, IB and IGCSE: how do they differ for an Aurangabad student?

  • SSC and HSC reward textbook recall
  • IB and IGCSE reward reasoning and structured writing
  • Discipline habits transfer between boards
  • Mark-scheme practice speeds up the adjustment

The Maharashtra board is content-focused and textbook-anchored. Its SSC and HSC papers reward complete answers that follow the Balbharati books closely, and the coaching culture around them, in Aurangabad as elsewhere in the state, is designed around that pattern. CBSE and ICSE add more application and, for ICSE, heavier English and content.

IB and IGCSE tilt further toward reasoning. Questions put familiar ideas into new settings, ask for evaluation with the working visible, and give marks for method as well as result. The Diploma also weights Internal Assessments that are moderated externally.

Marathwada students therefore face two adjustments when they cross over: learning to answer the question actually asked, and learning to write extended responses in English with structured argument. Both are teachable, and both respond well to targeted practice with mark schemes.

It is not about which is harder. A student good at SSC-style preparation has habits of discipline that carry across; the task is to add new ones.

04

How much do IB and IGCSE tutors charge for Aurangabad families?

  • Level, subject, tutor experience and frequency set the rate
  • Coaching-batch fees are not a like-for-like comparison
  • Written quote before the trial
  • Pause or stop with short notice

Prices follow the tutor and the course, not the address. A tutor for IB Physics HL, who has taught the Diploma for years, sits in a smaller pool than one for IGCSE Core Business, so quotes differ. Session length and weekly frequency change the total.

Aurangabad families often compare with JEE or NEET coaching fees, which are set per batch and per year. That comparison is limited: coaching is a group product for a different exam, while IB or IGCSE tutoring is one to one for a specific paper.

IB Gram gives the rate in writing before the trial lesson, and it stays as agreed unless you ask to change. There is no extra charge for distance, since nothing is travelled.

You can pause over the hottest weeks or a festival break, drop to fewer sessions or stop with short notice.

05

Coaching classes, private teachers, self-study or an online tutor in Aurangabad?

  • Coaching batches serve Indian entrance exams
  • Ask private teachers about IB or IGCSE experience
  • Self-study needs outside marking
  • Online tutors need a backup connection

Aurangabad has a large coaching sector, with well-known batches for NEET, JEE and MHT-CET. Students move through them in Class 11 and 12 with heavy timetables. They are effective for the exams they target, but they are not designed to teach an IB Chemistry paper or an IGCSE Extended Mathematics paper.

Private teachers can be strong for SSC or CBSE. For IB or IGCSE, ask whether they have prepared students for those papers and used official mark schemes.

Self-study works for past-paper subjects, and many IGCSE private candidates rely on it. It cannot replace feedback, especially on extended writing.

An online tutor offers specialist matching and personal feedback. The trade-off is a screen-based lesson in a city where summer power cuts occasionally happen, so a backup connection is wise.

Summer heat, festivals and exams: how the Aurangabad year shapes tutoring

  • Avoid the hottest afternoons in April and May
  • Festival weeks are natural pauses
  • State and CBSE exams fall in February and March
  • IGCSE: May-June and October-November

Aurangabad's summers are hot. April and May often push past forty degrees, and afternoons are best avoided for study. Evening and early-morning slots work better, and families with air-conditioning limited to one room should choose accordingly.

The monsoon is milder here than on the coast. Marathwada is a drought-prone region with modest rainfall, so disruption tends to come from occasional heavy downpours rather than sustained flooding. Winter is comfortable and is the natural season for sustained work.

Festivals set the rhythm. Ganeshotsav in late summer, Navratri and Dussehra in autumn, Diwali after that and, for many families, Eid and Buddha Purnima across the year. Each brings a break of several days, and the city's older neighbourhoods celebrate with processions that close roads.

For exams, Maharashtra's SSC and HSC fall in February and March, CBSE around the same time, and IGCSE in May-June and October-November. The IB Diploma sits in May. Children studying for both a board and an international exam should stagger their preparation.

Universities and routes after IB or IGCSE from Aurangabad

  • BAMU, MGM University and the medical college anchor local options
  • Pune is the natural next step for many families
  • MHT-CET, JEE Main, NEET-UG and CUET-UG have separate rules
  • Predicted grades matter for UK and Canadian offers

Local higher education is substantial: Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, the Government Medical College, MGM University and several engineering colleges. Pune is a natural next step for many families, with Savitribai Phule Pune University, COEP and many private universities within a few hours.

For engineering and medicine, families need an Association of Indian Universities equivalence certificate, and the right subject mix for JEE Main or NEET-UG. MHT-CET is the Maharashtra route for state colleges, and its eligibility rules for IB and IGCSE holders should be checked directly with the authority. CUET-UG is another route for central universities.

Abroad, the UK writes offers in IB points with named Higher Level subjects, American colleges look at predicted grades within a broader file, and Canadian and Australian universities publish their own conversion tables. Aurangabad families with hospitality or export links sometimes have overseas contacts that shape choices.

A tutor teaches subjects and builds exam technique. University counselling, visas and scholarships belong with the school, a counsellor or the university.

08

Maths route and sciences at Diploma level for Aurangabad students

  • AA HL with Physics HL suits engineering ambitions
  • AI with Biology suits medicine and life-science paths
  • Chemistry HL and Biology reward early specialist help
  • Specialists are matched online

Many industrial-belt families have engineering backgrounds, so Maths AA HL with Physics HL is a common choice. It is demanding, and Paper 3 problems and the physics investigation need early attention.

Students aiming at medicine or biology usually pair Biology HL with Chemistry and often pick Maths AI, which suits data-focused study. The right pairing is best decided after a diagnostic in Class 11.

Chemistry HL asks for a pace increase when organic mechanisms and equilibrium arrive, and Biology rewards command-term precision. Both are areas where a specialist saves time.

Because there is no IB classroom in the city, a student relies on online specialists. A tutor's location is irrelevant; recent experience with the course is what counts.

09

Core or Extended, and which board, for an Aurangabad IGCSE candidate?

  • Extended keeps every grade open
  • Confirm the board with the exam centre first
  • Plan entry deadlines and practicals early
  • Choose a centre with any relocation in mind

Core caps most grades at C; Extended keeps A* available. For any student who may attempt the Diploma, A Level Sciences or engineering, Extended in Mathematics and the sciences is the safer choice.

Board choice depends on the exam centre. Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel have different codes and papers, so the tutor must know which is being sat. Ask the centre first.

Private candidacy needs planning: entry deadlines, fees and any practical requirements are set by the centre. A tutor prepares the student but cannot register them.

Families with a relocation plan should choose a centre near the future home to avoid changing venue mid-course.

10

How are tutors matched to Aurangabad students?

  • Matching starts from board, subject, level, target and problem
  • Qualifications and recent syllabus experience are checked
  • A free trial lesson decides
  • Replacement is free

We start with a conversation about the child: board, subject, level, current and target grades, exam session and the specific problem. For industrial-belt families we also ask about likely transfers, so the tutor plan can survive a move.

Qualifications, recent teaching of the exact syllabus and approach to assessed work are checked before a tutor is introduced. Then a free trial lesson follows.

After the trial, you receive a first-month plan and a written note after each session. Any part of the plan can be changed.

If the fit is wrong, we replace the tutor without a fee.

Where we tutor

Where in Aurangabad our online students learn from

Lessons are the same from any room, so these localities matter mainly for family and school context, not travel. Aurangabad's spread is wide, and commutes between the old city, CIDCO and the industrial belts can be long.

CIDCO (N-2, N-4, N-6)

Planned residential sectors popular with employed families and close to many schools and coaching classes.

Jalna Road

A long commercial corridor with newer apartments, favoured by professionals who work in the industrial belt.

Garkheda

An established residential area on the way to the university, with many teachers and government employees.

Osmanpura

A dense, older neighbourhood with a strong tuition culture around state-board subjects.

Beed Bypass and Satara Parisar

A growing southern belt of new housing and schools, home to many newer arrivals.

Waluj

The industrial township beside the Bajaj and other manufacturing units; households here often relocate for a job.

Chikalthana

Near the airport and MIDC, with industrial families and several schools.

Padegaon

A residential neighbourhood near the university side of town, popular with families linked to colleges.

Shendra and Bidkin

The newer industrial and Auto City areas, where households move in with job postings.

Kranti Chowk and Samarth Nagar

Central localities close to courts, offices and older schools, with long-established families.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Aurangabad

Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar)

Schooling is largely Maharashtra state board, CBSE and ICSE. Checks turned up no confirmed IB or Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE school, so international-syllabus students study online, privately or elsewhere.

    Nearby: Pune

The most common destination for Aurangabad families choosing a boarding or relocation route, with a long list of IB and Cambridge schools some hours away by road.

    • Mahindra International School
    • Symbiosis International School
    • Indus International School, Pune

    Nearby: Mumbai

Mumbai has the country's largest concentration of IB schools, and is the destination for families with professional ties to the city.

    • Dhirubhai Ambani International School
    • Oberoi International School

    Nearby: Nashik

A closer western-Maharashtra option, with private-candidate routes that some families also use.

No school in Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar) could be confirmed as offering the IB or Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSE, so none is named as such. Schools listed in other cities are options Aurangabad families sometimes consider, and IB Gram has no link with any of them or with any exam body.

Send IB Gram the programme or board, subject, level and exam session, and we shortlist tutors who teach that exact course online. No IB or IGCSE school could be confirmed in Aurangabad, so matching depends on syllabus fit, not distance. A free trial lesson comes before you commit.

Is Aurangabad the same as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar?+

Yes. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is the official name of the Maharashtra city long known as Aurangabad, and both names are used in searches, forms and signage. This page covers the Maharashtra city. Aurangabad in Bihar is a separate town with its own page on IB Gram.

Is there an IB or IGCSE school in Aurangabad?+

We could not confirm one. Local schooling is the Maharashtra state board, CBSE and ICSE. Families wanting IB or IGCSE consider boarding in Pune or Mumbai, private candidacy or distance study. Check current school finders if you plan a move.

Do tutors visit homes in Aurangabad?+

No. In-person home tuition is available only in Gurugram and parts of Delhi NCR. In Aurangabad, home tuition means online: a live one-to-one lesson at home on a laptop with a shared whiteboard.

What does IB or IGCSE tuition cost in Aurangabad?+

The rate depends on programme, subject, level, tutor experience and session length, and it is given in writing before the trial lesson. Your area of the city does not change it, because nobody travels.

My child is on the Maharashtra state board. Can they take IGCSE subjects?+

Possibly as a private candidate through an approved exam centre, provided your family arranges entry. Tutoring covers teaching and paper practice. Confirm the centre's dates, fees and practical requirements early.

Can you help a child transferred to Waluj or Chikalthana mid-Diploma?+

Yes. We match a tutor who has taught the same subjects and levels recently. The first sessions map gaps against the syllabus, and the tutor works alongside whatever school arrangement the family has.

Which IB Diploma subjects can you cover?+

Maths AA and AI, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business Management, English A, Computer Science, Psychology, ESS, Geography, History, Marathi B and Hindi B, plus TOK coaching. HL and SL students are matched separately.

Do you teach MYP and PYP in Aurangabad?+

Yes. MYP work focuses on criterion-based writing and the Personal Project; PYP work builds reading, writing and number confidence. Sessions are short and lively for younger children, with a written note for parents.

Which IGCSE boards do you support?+

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel. Cambridge codes such as 0580, 0625 and 0620 are the most requested. The exam centre decides which board a private candidate can sit, so confirm that first.

How do summer heat and power cuts affect online lessons?+

Afternoon heat makes evening or early-morning slots better in April and May, and we recommend a charged laptop and phone hotspot as backup. A lesson lost to an outage is rescheduled at no extra cost.

Can a tutor help with IAs or the Extended Essay?+

A tutor can guide but never write. That covers choosing a question, understanding criteria, planning data and commenting on drafts. Producing assessed work breaches IB integrity rules.

      When should my child start?+

At the start of the course if possible: Grade 9 for IGCSE, Class 11 for the Diploma. Starting later still helps by focusing on high-value topics and past papers.

Can lessons fit around coaching batches?+

Yes. Many Aurangabad students attend coaching for JEE, NEET or MHT-CET, and we choose slots that do not clash. Times can be adjusted when batch schedules change.

What happens if we do not like the tutor?+

Tell us and we will find another. We review progress regularly, and there is no penalty for changing a tutor or stopping.

Is IB Gram linked with any Aurangabad school or exam board?+

No. IB Gram is independent. It has no link with any school, the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge or Pearson. Names on this page are for context only.

Is Aurangabad, Bihar covered on this page?+

No. This page is for Aurangabad in Maharashtra, officially Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Aurangabad in Bihar has a separate page, and the school and board information there is different. Families in Bihar should use that page.
